Cualquiera que pasara por ahí la podría ver haciendo lo que hacemos todos: dormir, cocinar, ducharse. Pero eso no pasaría nada desapercibido y muy pronto estallaría el escándalo. But Dr Prins and his colleagues revisit the evidence and ask a deeper question: is that explanation actually supported by the data?In this conversation, they explore the physiology of fatigue, the often-overlooked role of blood glucose and liver glycogen, and the phenomenon of exercise-induced hypoglycaemia as a potential driver of performance limitation. They also discuss how relatively small amounts of carbohydrate can improve performance, why higher intakes don't always translate into better outcomes, and what this means for current high-carbohydrate fueling recommendations.Along the way, Mikki and Dr Prins unpack fat oxidation in low-carbohydrate-adapted athletes, the importance of individual metabolic differences, and whether fueling strategies for endurance athletes may need to be far more individualised than current guidelines suggest. This is a fascinating discussion that challenges long-held assumptions about carbohydrate, fatigue, and how athletes should actually fuel for performance.Dr. Philip Prins is an Associate Professor of Exercise Science. Dr. Prince earned a B.S. in Kinesiology as well as an M.S. in Exercise Science from Georgia Southern University, and a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Pittsburgh. His research focuses on, among other things, the practical impact of lifestyle on metabolism and how metabolism impacts health, disease and performance outcomes. Among his many areas of expertise are nutritional ketosis, metabolic responses to exercise, and sports nutrition.Dr Prins can be found here: https://www.gcc.edu/Home/Academics/Faculty-Directory/Faculty-Detail/philip-prins Dr Prins Researchgate: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Philip-PrinsStudy https://academic.oup.com/edrv/article/47/2/191/8432248 Previous podcasts https://podcast.mikkiwilliden.com/190 and https://podcast.mikkiwilliden.com/348 Contact Mikki:https://mikkiwilliden.com/https://www.facebook.com/mikkiwillidennutritionhttps://www.instagram.com/mikkiwilliden/https://linktr.ee/mikkiwilliden

Jim Curnal: 60 Minutes interview Most important question is the Follow up question - Velocity - Spin - Grip - Bigger Stronger Faster Velocity: The Process Injury and Perfomance impact Two friends texting me ‘There's a common theme with all these guys that are going down': Pitchers weigh in on MLB's injury epidemic….no one talks about mechanics!!! Curns, you have probably seen the lead MLB story on ESPN is about the rash of arm injuries. Last year 34% of pitchers had Tommy John, that is incredible. They are mostly blaming the focus on velocity, I did not see any questioning the throwing motion Youth Sports: Sports 10 Biggest Lies 1. Winnng is the only thing……No Competing is the only thing 2. Sports Develop Character….No sports test and reveal character 3. Will to win…You can not will yourself to win, you can will yourself to compete 4. Show me you a good loser and I'll show you a loser…..No about being a smart or dumb loser 5. Win at all cost…. At what cost ? 6. Championships defince success…No, do not define Who you are 7. It's all about the Desitnation….No all about the Journey 8. Sports prepare you for the game of life…. No life is life, sports are a game 9. The Refs stole the game…. No, never blame the officials 10. We didn't execute, we made too many mistaskes we beat ourselves.. Final note: Coaches / Parents / Offcials Around the Horn Why Mets' strong start is better than it looks Well, the Mets are now exactly a month and a day into their season, and they are showing they deserve your attention. They may be only a game over .500, but that's pretty good considering that they have yet to play any of the dregs of the leagues, and at least a quartet of teams they've yet to see are threatening to become all-time bad — including the injury-wrecked, star-crossed Marlins in their own division. Oriloles “We're excited,” Aaron Judge said. “We've been watching them from afar, they're a great team. Marcus Stroman walked a season-high five batters and threw only half of his 88 pitches for strikes across four-plus innings. “Struggled a bit mechanically,” Stroman said. “Too many walks overall. That's very uncharacteristic of me. I just gotta get back in the zone.” Book The Perfect Mile Neal Bascomb

In this episode of White Canes Connect, Simon Bonenfant speaks with ADLN program coordinator Lee Etzold and newly trained audio describer Gina Pisasale as they discuss how the program was formed, how the training was conducted, and who was selected to participate. They also discuss the strong support team of blind and visually impaired coaches, other audio describer mentors, and audio description trainees. While audio-described performances in the Philadelphia area have been available for quite some time, there is a need for more audio describers, particularly from diverse backgrounds. Recently, a group of local theatres have come together to make this dream a reality—calling the initiative the Audio Description Learning Network or ADLN. Simon and Gina discuss their journey working together to facilitate an audio-described A Christmas Carol Comedy performance. The show took place at Hedgerow in early December. Show notes at https://www.whitecanesconnect.com/095 Participating Theaters The four Philadelphia theatres that participated include The Hedgerow Theatre Company, People's Light, 1812 Productions, and The Wilma Theatre. Each site included a preview performance and a public show, giving the audio describers multiple chances to practice their work. Describers were also required to produce pre-show notes to provide blind and visually impaired patrons access to more detailed visual information. Small at the People's Light Join audio describer trainee Beth Feldman Brandt as she describes a production called Small. The production will occur on Sunday, January 28, at 2:00 PM. More details can be found at https://www.peopleslight.org/whats-on/20232024-season/small/. My Mama and the Full Scale Invasion at the Wilma Theater There will be an audio-described production of My Mamma and the Full-Scale Invasion on February 18 at 2:00 PM at the Wilma Theatre. More details about that performance can be found at https://wilmatheater.org/event/my-mama-and-the-full-scale-invasion/.
