On this episode, Chris collaborates and co-hosts with Dan Simpson, the host of the Classic Land Cruisers Podcast. When two classic 4x4 enthusiasts get a chance to pick each others brains, the conversation will inevitably end up about Land Cruisers. They talk about their random encounter crossing paths, variations of global market Land Cruisers and get real about the beloved J-Series markets.US Spec Land Cruisers will always be paramount in the market, but supply of imported Land Cruisers has moderated and allowed the market to balance out. Lately, the lower volume of Land Cruisers we are seeing imported into the US tend to be higher quality restorations and desirable variants that we never saw in the US. Those current market trends and the back drop of a strong collector vehicle market are moving the J-Series market back into the sellers favor and prices are rising. You can find Dan Simpson's Twitch stream here & the the rest of his content via his linktree below: https://linktr.ee/idansimpson We have plenty more subterranean goodness in this EP, including impressive, housing market-circumventing tunnel encampments built into river banks in Sacramento, nauseating trench news from the front in Ukraine, and a major escalation in the Year of the Tunnel MindWar... Namely, reports that a team of Israeli academics (including a former employee of the CERN Hadron Collider), governmental antiquarians, and scientists employed by Rafael Industries (one of the Israeli military-industrial complex's primary R&D laboratories and a major missile manufacturer) are assembling an array of muon particle detectors to map the subterranean passages below the Temple Mount, which they believe snake from the Gihon Spring to the ruins of the Temple of Solomon. We dig into the eschatological & apocalyptic import of their efforts and how the project is undoubtedly tied to plans to claim total Israeli sovereignty over the holy sites on the Temple Mount & construct the Third Temple to harken the Moshiach's arrival. From there, we illustrate the closeness of Chabad Lubavitch and Mossad, examining two sources that shed new light on the Rebbe Schneerson's influence & American & Israeli intel ties, as well as the two organizations' frequently overlapping membership. We then segue into our discussion w/ Dan Simpson by rattling off some facts regarding the Chabad (Mossad proxy) presence on university campuses worldwide, which once again brings that funny odd couple Shmuley Boteach & Cory Booker into view. And then, once Dan Simpson hops on, we sprint through the first half of our excavation of the Israeli campus surveillance dragnet and the Columbia prof Shai Davidai's placement within it. We go deep on his CV, his incredibly sus family connections, and end with an examination of Shai Davidai's Grandpa's intel-connected career. Namely, his time as Head of Maintenance and eventual deputy CEO of the main Israeli airline "El Al", which got him entangled in all kinds of interesting espionage maneuvers, including: the Eichmann abduction, the Entebbe Operation, and the recruitment of ex-I*O*F paratroopers to work as plainclothes mercs on El Al planes to guard from potential attacks & hijackings. We unpack his public remarks regarding the use of these mercenaries, his contradictory disavowal of Mordechai Rahamin (who gunned down a PFLP militant after he'd surrendered, seemingly), and, most intriguingly, the fact that Shai's grandpappy met with SHABAK/Shin Bet prior to the first ever skyjacking of an Israeli flight (Flight 426), which was an impactful retaliation in the history of Israeli aggression. Benjamin Davidai & other officials were given intel that attacks were imminent prior to the attack, and we juxtapose this curiosity with the inconsistencies of Oct. 7th, considering the implications. In the next part, which should be dropping shortly, we continue with our thorough, forensic investigation of sus Davidai family history, the Israeli campus surveillance dragnet, and the ethnostate's war against B*D*S and campus activism. Songs: | Jamiroquai - "Deeper Underground" (Thanks, Ferg) | | Matt Mulholland - "My Heart Will Go On - Recorder by Candlelight" ... we found more edit gold by using this as the backing track for Shai's open letter lmao | | Thelonious Monk - "Green Chimneys" (from the album "Underground") |
Sub to the PPM Patreon to access the unabridged version of "Year of the Tunnel (Pt. II)" and the groundbreaking, expansive entirety of the "YoT (Special Broadcast)", which sheds new light on our investigation into likely asset Shai Davidai & his placement w/in the campus surveillance dragnet: patreon.com/ParaPowerMapping We're on a tear. Here's the last half of the interview with Dan, in which we bring our mapping of the sus multigenerational intel-adjacent Davidai family to a close. We even find time to expand our excavation of the many NGOs, not-for-profits, & student body orgs that work in conjunction with the Israeli lobby to surveil & curtail pro-Palestinian campus activism. We break down the Julia Reifkind story, which rhymes with our discovery of the relationship between the Israeli general consul in NYC & the Chabad house at Columbia & various "antisemitism" crusades involving Columbia students in recent years. We show how Julia, this onetime AIPAC intern & president of Aggies for Israel at UC Davis, was recruited by the Israeli embassy, and how the Israeli consulate in SF seems to have had a hand in what appears to be the overly convenient materialization of Swastikas on campus following a great B*D*S victory (materialization... or fabrication?). We illustrate how at least one organization that aided Julia's propaganda scenes & helped to manufacture the artificial virality did the same w/ Shai. We discuss the skunk water attack at Columbia with Dan. We parse another initiative that Shai Davidai is heading up called REACT that is all about organizing academics in the social sciences to study modern manifestations of "antisemitism" (read: anti-Z***ism)... A canny scholarly project to try & undergird Israeli's hasbara & further indication that he is a likely candidate for Israeli mouthpiece & asset. And we even end by covering the recent story regarding OnlyFans owner Leonid Radvinsky's recent $11 mil to AIPAC, and we get into some nitty gritty creator data & the way OF's history syncs up with Israel's war on B*D*S that may indicate that it is a helpful tool being wielded to provide the pedostate w/ fully automated kompromat collection. We won't allow it, for we know the tunnel's liberatory potential. If you enjoy this podcast, consider buying me a coffee: https://adamstoner.com/support I left this space 2,572 ago on my 26th birthday, exhausted and anxious. Living online for the past fifteen months had worn me out in a way interacting in person never did and whilst working, writing, podcasting, and publishing fulfilled a desire to be heard, it came at a cost of being seen. More people saw, read, and listened to things I had made in those fifteen months than Belgium, Barbados, Bermuda and Bahrain have people, combined. Previously taught that your value as a creative is not in what you make but in what you market, I took time over the past few months to take a different tact: doing what I want. I'm now back – and better (more on that later) – and several months have passed since we last spoke, so I suppose it's time for a bit of a catch-up… In June, I got a synth – the Arturia MicroFreak – paid a visit to independent music store Soundhouse in Gloucester to pick up a Zoom U22, made something resembling music, and put it on your favourite streaming service. I had never done that before – it's surprisingly easy. Too easy, you might say. Some of the more pleasant noise I've been making these past few months comes in the form of programmes. With Ciaran and Dan at TWJ's Science+Nature magazine and Chris at Devaweb, we've been making Mysteries of Science and answering some of the biggest questions in our universe. Are aliens real? What is Deja vu? Is there a curse on King Tut's tomb? And how does the placebo effect work? It's intended for kids aged 8 to 11 but is a billiant listen whatever your age. There's also Activity Quest which I make at Fun Kids and have given some real TLC to this summer. My favourite episodes include Dan Simpson's visit to Tower Bridge, my go at an at-home escape room experience known as Mini Mysteries, and a conversation I had about extreme-exposure analogue photography and astronomy with Sam from Solarcan. In fact, analogue film photography is something I've gotten back into over the summer. I've been shooting on cameras ranging from a 1960s point-and-shoot to a mid-2000s SLR on films Kodak Portra and Ektar, and Ilford HP5 Plus and PanF 50. Almost all of the photos in this update were shot on film then scanned for storage; newly-founded Take It Easy Lab in Leeds has been handling that whole process for me. I've rediscovered that having a mindful and respectful tactile relationship with things you create makes the experience more meaningful. To inspire the range of things I've been doing this summer, I was gifted beautiful coffee-table books including Paul Smith and Tom Ford's self-titled retrospectives, Vivienne Westwood's Catwalk and a book containing a load of Andy Warhol polaroids. I've also been listening to In Praise of Shadows and Revelation as well as Rework, Remote, and It Doesn't Have to be Crazy at Work by Basecamp founders Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson. All of these pastimes – whether it's photography or podcasting, art or Audible – have something in common: They're all time-intense, creative outlets that present a slow-burn of gratification… In amongst ten tonnes of hardcore and hidden beneath the concrete foundations of a log cabin, I placed a time capsule this summer. It'll be found long after you and I – 80 to 100 years in the future – when the concrete begins to deteriorate. Preparing a stash of items to be intentionally found after your death makes you address mortality in a very intimate and profound way. Compiling my own time capsule – a message-in-a-bottle, launched into the ocean of potential futures – affected me in only positive ways. It reminded me of a scene in the 2020 documentary Life in a Day where one man jumps into a lake, then speaking to camera, says: What I fear the most is that my life will pass unnoticed, that my name won't matter in the history of the world. Also containing its own time capsule, September 5th 2021 marks the 44th anniversary of the Voyager 1 launch. The Voyager Golden Record is a scrapbook of sounds and pictures from the planet, destined forever to float in interstellar space (or be intercepted by intelligent life). It's the furthest object from home that humankind has ever created; a record of our fleeting evolutionary fluke. It is a statement. We exist. Whatever happens to it in space, whatever its unknown destiny is, I think it represents a high water mark of our civilisation when we dreamed the biggest dreams. And I hope it will serve as an example, an inspiration for people to keep dreaming. Those are the words of Jon Lomberg, the artist who created the symbols on the Voyager's Golden Record cover which detail exactly how it is to be played, where in the universe it came from, and how to decode the images on it. The most important goal of any space mission is not to discover what's ‘out there' but is instead an effort to understand ourselves a little bit better… How did we get here? What is our position within the universe? Are we alone? Speaking to artist Luke Jerram for Activity Quest and learning of something called the Overview Effect, to discovering humankind's other strides to communicate our existence on this tiny pearl transformed all of the anxiety and exhaustion I had in May – the thought of over 14 million people consuming things I had made, a population double the size of London – into something entirely different: affirming. The point isn't being heard or seen. It is to make for the sake of making and in doing so perhaps understand ourselves a little bit better; a statement I knew 2,572 hours ago but that took 2,572 hours of practice to rediscover. I'm now back – and better (thanks for waiting) – and in the several months that have passed since we last spoke, two billionaires touched the edge of space, Wimbledon, the Euros, and the Olympics all came and went, and almost one million more people laid eyes or ears on my work. I won't leave it 2,572 hours next time, just 620 or so. You'll next hear from me on October 1st, 2021.

How can we understand and create our lives through storytelling? How can we use reading and creative writing as existential tools? How can literature strengthen our mental health? This series examines these questions. The guest of this episode is poet, performer, and educator Dan Simpson. Dan has authored two works of poetry and has worked as poet-in-residence at Imperial College London, Glastonbury Festival, and St Albans Cathedral. Furthermore, Dan is the facilitator of creative writing groups. It is in relation to Dan's role as facilitator on the course “writing the journey,”—a course he is facilitating for the Psychedelic Society UK—that this interview takes its point of departure.More precisely, we speak with Dan about the existential potential of creative writing; its relation to healing and wellbeing, its fruitful consequences on social life, and its role in self-knowledge. We talk about how words can act as the refinement of thoughts, the catharsis-like effect one can experience through creative writing, the power of journaling, the practical outcomes one can gain from creative writing, the potential in creative writing for posttraumatic growth, and more generally about the metacognitive awareness that creative writing can foster. We hope you enjoy the interview!Host: Magnus Harding Production: Heine Volder
Well, after all the talk, the opening of the 2021 Premier League Darts arrived and it did not disappoint. Jarleth Eaton, Jack "Gobby" Garwood and Dan Simpson look back on all the action, in the first Premier League Daily of the year. They start by discussing a fantastic game which saw Peter Wright and Jonny Clayton share a point, and ask if the game of the tournament has already been played. After hearing from The Ferret, the rest of the day gets a look at, as Gary Anderson and Michael van Gerwen hit 100+ checkouts to get points against James Wade (who replaced Gerwyn Price after the Welshman tested positive for COVID-19) and Dimitri van den Bergh respectively. The trio also give their thoughts on Nathan Aspinall being the only player to win on night one at the expense of Glen Durrant, plus Rob Cross and Jose De Sousa hitting 10 180's between them as they also shared the spoils. Jar, Jack and Dan then give their predictions ahead of night two, which is headlined by a clash between van Gerwen and Wright. After you hear from Clayton, the rest of the day gets a look at, which saw wins for James Wade, Gerwyn Price, Adrian Lewis, Peter Wright, Dave Chisnall, Nathan Aspinall and Mervyn King. The trio then hear from King, who accused Rob Cross of stepping over the oche to win a leg, and debate whether he has a point or not. Well, who saw that coming? Dave Chisnall whitewashes Michael van Gerwen in the World Darts Championship quarter final. That's obviously where Jarleth Eaton, Jack "Gobby" Garwood and Dan Simpson start their review of the day on this World Championship Daily. The boys look at whether it was Chisnall's astonishing play, MvG's lack of scoring, or a bit of both that produced one of, if not the biggest upset in World Championship history. The trio also look at the rest of the day, including Gerwyn Price's last leg deciding victory over Daryl Gurney, a comfortable win for Gary Anderson against Dirk van Duijvenbode, and Stephen Bunting making his first Worlds semi final in the PDC by defeating Krzysztof Ratajski. You'll hear from all four winners, before Jar, Jack and Dan close the show with their picks on who makes the World Darts Championship final tomorrow. Well. What an incredible day at the World Darts Championship. Easily the best of the tournament so far, which saw more drama in a day then we do throughout a tournament normally. Jarleth Eaton, Luke Pickering and Dan Simpson try to break it all down on this episode of the World Championship Daily. The boys start with the two last 16 games, which saw Michael van Gerwen come back from 3-1 down to beat Joe Cullen 4-3, and Krzysztof Ratjaski survive seven match darts against Gabriel Clemens to win by the same scoreline. You'll hear from Van Gerwen, and Ratajski, before the rest of the day gets a look at. The trio talk about James Wade hitting the first nine darter at the tournament but ultimately losing to Stephen Bunting, and wins that saw Dave Chisnall, Devon Petersen and Daryl Gurney into the last 16. Finally, Jar, Luke and Dan look ahead to day 13, the final day of darts in 2020, which sees the remaining last 16 ties played in what could be yet another remarkable day. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Taziki’s Mediterranean Café spent a year beta testing how two types of delivery programs: do it yourself, or third-party. CEO Dan Simpson tested both ways and came to the conclusion that both proved valuable depending on the scenario. But, now the delivery landscape has completely changed under shelter-at-home orders across the U.S. That has forced brands like Taziki’s to re-think their off premise playbook to survive what will certainly be a months long recovery -- where only the most nimble and cash rich restaurants will survive. At Birmingham, Ala.-based Taziki’s, that means expanding third-party operators, who he’s found are easier to negotiate during the pandemic. That wasn’t the case before, and he’ll explain why in our podcast. He’s also seeing a new business model emerge for the fast-casual brand of 93 units: Curbside pickup. Will consumers demand more contactless ordering systems like curbside and delivery as they maintain social distancing practices in a post COVID-19 world? “That's a big crystal ball question,” Simpson said. “The same guests are out there. It's just about meeting them where they are and adjusting our business models to where [if] that means more curbside or more delivery, we can do that.” As we spoke, Simpson and franchisees were preparing to reopen dining rooms at some restaurants in Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina. Listen to what Simpson has to say on how that new normal might look.
The CEO of Taziki’s, Dan Simpson joins us to share about the importance of unit economics, adding value to your customers and how to nail and scale an experience-based restaurant.

**NOTE** This episode was recorded in November 2019 and published on my other podcast, The Songwriters Podcast. In this episode, Mark Baratto sits down with singer, songwriter, guitarists, storyteller, sailor and road warrior, Scott Kirby. We talk about his long career as a musician, and where he goes for writing inspiration, and how a little bit of luck took him a long way. More on Scott Website: https://www.scottkirby.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/scottkirbykeywest/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/scottkirby.keywest Singer, songwriter, guitarist, storyteller, sailor and road warrior are all words that aptly describe Scott Kirby. Writing songs for a new CD, performing 150 live shows a year throughout the US and Canada, and holding down the stage at his own club—Key West’s Smokin’ Tuna Saloon—keep the barnacles off this modern-day troubadour. A creative lyricist and accomplished finger-style acoustic guitarist with an expressive voice, Kirby describes himself as a direct descendant of the ’70s singer/songwriter movement. His very first 45 was a Beatles record, and he came of musical age listening to James Taylor and other great songwriters of that era. He has never received any formal musical training but often credits Taylor with teaching him how to play the acoustic guitar. “If it weren’t for the hundreds of solitary hours in my room in Concord, New Hampshire, with a guitar and a James Taylor book, I never would have learned to play,” says Kirby. Speaking of New Hampshire and musical influences, let’s not forget fellow New Hampshire native Tom Rush who was taking the folk scene by storm in Kirby’s formative years. Coincidentally, Kirby connected with both of these artists in Key West 30 years later, which is a whole other story. After a few years in high school bands and a stint in his early 20s as a bass guitarist with a group, Kirby drifted away from music and became immersed in a career in politics: managing campaigns, writing and producing radio and TV ads, and overseeing the office of a leader in the New Hampshire legislature. He was also guitarless for eight years! In 1988, however, after tiring of the political rat race and the length and severity of New England winters, he bought a new guitar, relentlessly practiced his chops, and planned his escape. Six months later Kirby was living in Key West and performing five nights a week on a balmy beach facing the Gulf of Mexico. Kirby started writing songs after some inspirational late-night words from legendary songwriter Shel Silverstein and further encouragement from Peter Mayer, who had just joined the Coral Reefer Band. A year later he found himself recording his first CD, Too Damn Yankee, in Jimmy Buffett’s Shrimpboat Sound Studio with Peter and Jim Mayer and Roger Guth. “This was a very lucky break for me, but I was in a bit over my head,” says Kirby. “Peter, Jim and Roger were incredibly patient with me and it was a fantastic learning experience.” Between 1993 and 2006, Kirby continued to write new material and recorded four more CDs with Key West producer/engineer Dan Simpson. In 2008 luck struck again when famed drummer/producer Russ Kunkel offered to produce Kirby’s Row Me Home CD at his studio in Los Angeles. “Next thing I know I’m cutting my songs in the Hollywood Hills with Russ, bassist Leland Sklar and guitarist Dean Parks and feeling like the luckiest guy in the world.” Speaking of luck, Kirby’s wistful ballad “Lucky Enough” struck a chord with listeners on Sirius/XM Radio Margaritaville, which exposed his music to more markets around the country and led to his current touring schedule through 35 states each year. He continues to receive regular airplay on the station. Kirby joined a group of friends in 2011 to open the Smokin’ Tuna Saloon, a 200-seat bar and music venue in Key West where Kirby performs often in winter months. The Tuna is also host to the Key West Songwriter’s Festival. The festival is in its 20th year and has exploded into the largest event of its kind in the country, featuring more than 150 songwriters every year. In 2013 Kirby released his seventh CD, Sol Searching, a collaboration with producer/engineer/musician Lew London. “Lew was great to work with as he’s so multi-talented,” says Kirby. “He performed for years with Steve Goodman and is such a fine songwriter in his own right that he really understands how to build a sound around acoustically based songs.” Scott Kirby’s latest CD, Chasing Hemingway’s Ghost, was recorded with and produced by Matt and Andy Thompson in their studio in Nashville and released in 2017. When it comes to songwriting, Kirby respects authenticity and counts on everyday life and his coastal roots for much of his inspiration. “I don’t wake up every day thinking about writing the next commercial hit,” says Kirby. “Songwriting for me is about telling stories, expressing emotions, and commentary on things I may find funny or absurd.” Over the years Kirby has shared the stage with some of his favorite artists: Carole King, Jimmy Buffett, Livingston Taylor, Tom Rush, Mac McAnally, Peter Mayer and others. When not on the road or performing in Key West, Kirby splits his time between Livingston, Montana, and the coast of New Hampshire where he can often be found sailing, a lifelong passion of this descendant of Newfoundland fishermen. Yes, Scott Kirby is—as he readily admits—lucky enough.

Modern marketers need to look beyond a static campaign. Gone are the days where brands could push the same message or products over and over again to an entire market. It’s time to consider a more integrated 360-marketing approach that combines PR, direct marketing and digital tactics when promoting themselves to the relevant audiences and creating two-way conversations. That engagement is paramount to the success of any mixed-campaign strategy. In this episode of the Talking TechComms podcast, we spoke to London lorries Alex Rabone, Dan Simpson and Alex Humphries-French to get a deeper understanding of what components should exist within your 360-marketing strategy. In this HR Uprising episode, Lucinda is joined by Dan Simpson, Head of People and Leadership in Europe at Siemens. They explore a variety of topics, mainly exploring Dan's journey and career progression through the world of HR. In addition, they also discuss the benefits and drawbacks of working for a large global organisation. Overall, providing key HRD insights that can be applied at all levels of HR. Key Takeaways Dan's experience in people began in Sainsbury's, where he joined the staff council in the hopes of bolstering his CV. His provocative questions and initiative saw to it that a career in HR began soon afterwards. One of the most valuable lessons learned early on was that no-one in the HR world should deem to know their people if they don't know how the business itself works from top to bottom. HR is about being a partner to the business, and helping the business build the capability it needs to deliver its own promises to its stakeholders. Relationships have been key to not just Dan's career, but the growth of the HR industry in general. HR is all about leveraging the most useful and talented members of a business in order to make it stronger. The danger of scanning the outside and bringing it in is that context can be lost along the way. Context is extremely important when trying to design things that make sense to your environment. When it comes to diversity and inclusion, advocacy is never enough. With the help of his team, Dan was able to provide data-based conclusions in order to promote these vital causes in business. The trick of great organisational development (O.D.) is to frame the problem around “generative images”. Decide where you are now, and encourage people to describe it to you with the problems that go with that. Best Moments 'Two weeks later I found myself in an assessment centre' 'Never let anyone near a HR office, if they don't know how the business works' ‘Assessment centres and development centres are still the closest match you will get to a real-world event' 'Sometimes you have those crossroad moments where you have to make that call' ‘I had a real challenge getting Siemens to buy into diversity and inclusion' ‘Unconscious bias training is like one of those wearable devices you put on your wrist' ‘It's so important to maintain your perspective, even in the heat of the moment' Valuable Resources Join the HR Uprising LinkedIn Group Host of The HR Uprising Podcast, Lucinda Carney, is also the founder and CEO of Actus Software, where you can find additional free HR Resources: https://actus.co.uk/free-performance-management-resources/ ABOUT THE HOST Dan Simpson began his career at Sainsbury's, having been talent-spotted by the HR Director and invited onto the graduate programme. Andrea Macdonald, founder ideaXme Ltd. interviews Dr Sam Illingworth, PhD Atmospheric Physics, Senior Lecturer in Science Communication at Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK. Dr Illingworth is a "poet scientist" who believes that poetry is a powerful tool to communicate and explore science. (For the complete transcript of this interview please visit www.radioideaxme.com) He is passionate about encouraging the cross fertilisation of ideas from one seemingly unrelated sector to another to create stronger ideas. And feels that when the arts and sciences are brought together the results are powerful, often moving both unrelated sectors forward. He also believes strongly in the necessity of scientists to communicate their science with the wider world so that people better understand and evaluate how some of the most pressing global issues such as climate change can be solved by science and public participation in tandem. Sam urges us all to learn more of science generally in this age of exponential growth in scientific advancement and technology. As he’d like the public to be equipped with the necessary knowledge to question and ultimately take part in the processes that affect us all. Poetry and science as parallels: Dr Illingworth has conducted extensive research into the lives and achievements – poetic and scientific of 6 fellow famous poet scientists. These findings have been published in a recent book, A Sonnet To Science. He evaluates through these 6 examples how science is communicated and advanced by poetry. Climate change Dr Illingworth’s special scientific interest lies in climate change research. He has a PhD in Atmospheric Physics and a Masters Degree in Physics with Space Science and Technology from the University of Leicester (and an MA in Higher Education Merit from The Manchester Metropolitan University). He has worked with the Manchester Climate Change Agency on the Climate Lab 2016 programme, an initiative to engage the public with the issue of Climate Change. He wrote A Change of Climate with his friend and colleague, Dan Simpson, who he mentions in this interview. Watch to the end of the interview and you’ll learn how science and poetry really can be symbiotic. Furthermore, you'll hear of Dr Illingworth's passion for music also and how it too can be used like poetry to communicate science. Also discover that Sam’s work is not just limited to teaching university students. His outreach programme also extends to schools as he recognises importance of engaging children in major world issues. With October already around the corner, many marketing teams are starting to think about their marketing strategy for 2020. In this episode, Errol Jayawardene and Dan Simpson from our London digital team count down their top 8 marketing tools and platforms so you can make the most out of your b2b marketing next year. Social media is an ever evolving and growing component to b2b PR and marketing. In 2019, the call to prove ROI from C-suite members is just as common as it was 5 years ago, though the landscape has changed drastically in that time. Social media and digital marketing professionals are competing in a saturated space like never before so the need to stand out is one on everyone’s mind. B2b social media marketing is now a lot more than posting on platforms, sending out ads and having a sparkling clean online presence. In this episode of Talking TechComms, London lorry Dan Simpson and Boston lorry Jackie Blundell discuss b2b social media marketing in 2019 and look at how things have changed, what the online ecosystem currently looks like and what is still to come. Launching a PR or marketing campaign in the DACH region might seem like a straightforward task, but the truth is it requires a different approach to countries like the UK and USA. There are a range of factors that businesses need to take into account. For example, not only does Germany, Austria and Switzerland speak 3 languages (German, French and Italian), the media landscape is still very print heavy and the region uses some unique social media platforms that businesses may not be familiar with. In the latest edition of our Talking TechComms podcast, we built on our ‘myth-busting PR’ series of blogs by sending London lorry Dan Simpson out to our Belin office to sit down with our director of Germany, Saskia Stolper. As well as providing her insights into the key aspects of running a PR or marketing campaign in DACH, Saskia outlined the key misconceptions that businesses tend to fall foul of when expanding into the region. This week we present two stories of scientists having to find a strength within themselves. Part 1: BiologistH eather Hamlin leaves the safety of the lab for her first field assignment: tagging alligators. Part 2: As an unconsenting "face of diversity," Dan Simpson contemplates the role of his gay identity in his academic life. Heather Hamlin earned her BS in Biology, and an MS in Marine Bio-resources from the University of Maine before working as a Senior Biologist at Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota Florida. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 2007, and then worked as a post-doctoral scholar at the same institution studying the effects of environmental pollutants on the endocrine system of aquatic animals. In 2010 she joined the Medical University of South Carolina’s School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor examining how contaminants can alter maternal-fetal health. Eager to get back to Maine, she returned in 2011 to the University of Maine’s School of Marine Sciences, where she is an associate professor. Heather’s current research seeks to understand how human-induced changes in the environment, whether it be climate change, ocean acidification, or pollutants can affect the reproduction and development of aquatic animals, many of which are important to Maine’s economy. Dan Simpson is a statistician. He left Australia for Europe after his PhD in 2009 and is currently an Assistant Professor and the Canadian Research Chair in Spatiotemporal Modelling at the University of Toronto. We're back at it again, with a podcasts featuring an interview with Dan Simpson about how the concept of the anti-slam was conceived, and it's importance in the world of spoken word. Also featured are some live snippets from the anti-slam show at The Basement in York, and the usual buffoonery from Henry and Stu.
Psst, don't tell anyone, but this week's show is a gossip special. Unfortunately we don't quite know what this actually means, so we're not actually sure if any real gossip gets spoken during the show. If there is it's almost certainly scurrilous and without foundation, which is our favourite type of gossip (it usually involves conkers). Our Super-Special Guest was Dan Simpson, who is a videogame poet (which sounds like a great idea for a feature - hint hint Craig The Rage). We asked Dan how he got into poetry, what proportion of indie developers like poetry immediately and also if there is anything that Kieron Gillen isn't prepared to introduce. Dan also created a crowd sourced poem for the National Museum of Scotland which sounds like something we'd do, if you replaced 'poem' with 'karaoke song' and 'National Museum of Scotland' with 'pub'. We also found out what Belgium was like, turned down the London Games Festival, Ann went around the studio and Simon's wife isn't going cheese tasting. Sega Badawi provided us with some local news and we told you where you can get the last ever tickets to our GDC Marioke party. You should bid on them. Especially if you're going to GDC.
