Our conversation for The Valley Business Today welcomed back Shenandoah Community Capital Fund to talk about their newest cohort and how they're making changes to their organization to serve more entrepreneurs/small business in more ways. Joining me for the conversation was Ryan Hall & Katie Overfield-Zook, entrepreneur ecosystem builders with Shenandoah Community Capital Fund. Ryan gave us a quick overview of the organization and talked about a few of the changes they're making which include his job duties. The Shenandoah Community Capital Fund (SCCF) is 501(c)3 nonprofit entrepreneurial support organization serving the entire Shenandoah Valley. Over the past 14 years the organization has expanded and innovated alongside the region's entrepreneurs to become one of the lead conveners in the region's entrepreneurial ecosystem. SCCF also offers small business loans ranging from $1,000 to $50,000. Loan funds can be used to fund a variety of projects including equipment, inventory, and working capital expenses. They can also be used to refinance and consolidate existing business debt at a lower interest rate. Katie gave details for their latest S2V cohort currently accepting applications. She explained the application process, what types of industries are eligible for this round and talked about all the benefits of participation in the virtual program. When we finally do assert ourselves and demand our humanity be acknowledged, we are ALWAYS (and I do mean ALWAYS) hit with being called some version of an Angry Black Woman. It is enough to make you actually ANGRY, and thus the stereotype becomes reality. So what do we do....... we call in an expert to guide us through the journey of moving from an Angry Black Woman to a Healed Black Woman. Meet Dr. Sesha Joi Moon, the preeminent expert on the phenomenon of being an Angry Black Woman. Dr. Sesha Joi Moon [she|her|hers] is a Senior Talent Management Strategist at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office [USPTO] at the U.S. Department of Commerce [DOC]. During her tenure, she has received the Commerce Spirit Award and Spotlight on Commerce for Black History Month and LGBT Pride Month. Her most notable accomplishments include -- implementing the USPTO Innovation Challenge as an ideation pilot program and OHR Intrapreneurship as a talent mobility pilot program, co-creating "Mindset of Millennials: A Campaign to Grow the Next Gen of Latinx Best Talent", aiding in the development of the DOC First Generation Professionals Initiative, serving as a founding member of the WSTEM employee resource group and DOC Performance Excellence Council, representing the agency as part of the DOC My Brother's Keeper Initiative and Office of Personnel Management Ideation Community of Practice, establishing a strategic partnership with the Merck Foundation and United Negro College Fund in support of the STEM Innovation, Commercialization & Entrepreneurship Summit as part of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges & Universities. Natürlich müssen auch Unternehmer sich den Nachhaltigkeitsherausforderungen stellen und das Thema Klimawandel ist seit Fridays for Future virulent. Aber neben diesen hoch fliegenden und übergeordneten Themen ist Prof. Faltin eben auch bekannt für das Unternehmensgründen mit Komponenten. Im Prinzip ist es die Anwendung der Arbeitsteilung auf das Unternehmen. Im konventionellen Denken und in der Mediendarstellung wird das Bild des immer kompetenten Machers transportiert. Solche Bilder führen zur Überforderung des angehenden Unternehmers oder der Unternehmerin. Mit dem Gründen der Komponenten kann man sich auf den kreativ konzeptionellen Teils des Unternehmerdaseins konzentrieren. Nie in der jüngeren Geschichte war es einfacher Unternehmer zu werden, weil das Internet die Kosten für Unternehmer senkt. Prof. Dr. Günter Faltin ist mit der Teekampagne bekannt geworden und diese Unternehmensgründung wird bald 35 Jahre alt, heute kann man kostengünstiger mit dem Laptop gründen. Wie Smart Speaker zu Wanzen werden Das Börsenfernsehen schlägt Alarm, was das Abhören durch die neuen Sprachassistenten angeht. Nun die Zwangsupdates von Alexa sind wirklich übel, aber sonst haben die Börsennachrichten wieder mal viel heiße Luft produziert. Aber ein paar Tipps im Umgang mit den Smart Speakern sind trotzdem sinnvoll, denn die Smart Speaker sind eben auch Mikrofone. Additive Fertigung Auch wenn der 3DDruck hinter den Erwartungen zurückbleibt, muss man festhalten, dass die additiven Fertigungsverfahren weiter an Relevanz gewinnen. Es gibt immer neue Möglichkeiten und neue und andersartige Materialien, die verdruckt werden können. Die Bauteile aus den additiven Fertigungsverfahren werden immer komplexer und für den Otto Normalverbraucher immer greifbarer. Terror in Halle / Waffen aus dem 3D-Druck In Halle wurde von einem Antisemiten und Rechtsextremen ein Blutbad angerichtet und 2 Menschen hat der Attentäter erschossen. Aber er verwendete eben auch Waffen aus dem 3D – Druck und das wirft die Frage auf, wie man den Waffenbau durch die massenweise verkauften 3D-Drucker regulieren sollte, wenn man nicht aufpasst kann sich bald jeder Heimwerker seine eigenen Schusswaffen selber bauen. The Interceptor Für mich stellt sich die Frage, warum das autonome Fahren sich noch nicht in der Schifffahrt verbreitet. Es gibt aber eine kleine spannende Innovationsszene, die sich wenigstens auf dem Bastellevel mit diesem Thema beschäftigt und mit autonomen Boot eine kleine Testfahrt über den Pazifik machen wollen. Es ist nur eine kleine englischsprachige Quelle, aber die Anfänge sind gemacht.

Dr. Johanna Richter hat 2006 gemeinsam mit Freunden den Verein agbe – Perspectives for West Africa e.V gegründet. Im Rahmen dieses Projekts hat sie unter anderem den Bau eines Kindergartens mit begleitet. Grimsmo and Saunders will be there a day before IMTS starts (Sunday, Sept 9) for the Manufacturing and Entrepreneurship Summit, which is a version of the NYC CNC open house, and there will be plenty to learn! Prof. Dr. Günter Faltin ist Hochschullehrer, Unternehmensgründer und Bestselling Autor von „Kopf schlägt Kapital“. Mit der Teekampagne setzte Günter Faltin 1985 seine eigene Geschäftsidee praktisch um und wurde damit in nur kurzer Zeit Marktführer im deutschen Teeversandhandel. My guest is Günter Faltin, professor of entrepreneurship from Germany and himself also a successful entrepreneur. He's an early pioneer of entrepreneurship education in Germany. He's widely known in Germany because of his pioneering work connected to a concept called “component principle”. Last year I read his book “Brain vs capital” at around the same time as Tim Ferriss' The 4-Hour Workweek book, and the connection between the two were obvious. Actually people in Germany buy these two books together, as I later found it out from Prof Faltin. Both books have been major eye-openers for me. Prof. Faltin and Tim Ferriss' works are for ones who want to get results fast and sustainably, just prof. Faltin's is more applicable exclusively to entrepreneurship. In the links below you can see actually an interview that Prof. Faltin did with Tim Ferriss, and it made me smile how much the two are in agreement. Prof. Faltin is a very practical person despite being a professor. So by any means, he's not sitting in his Ivory Tower. You'll learn in this episode he's had his quite successful business which is still thriving. In this part 1 episode you can learn from Prof. Faltin how he systematically started his company, he'll discuss his principles for how to stay lean and efficient even after the beginnings of a startup when one wants to scale. Ich hatte ein super interessantes Wochenende, dass ich gerne mit euch teilen möchte. Ich ja einerseits Blogger und Podcaster, aber irgendwie fühle ich mich auch als Unternehmer. Mit Humor is Art möchte ich irgendwann auch Geld verdienen und auf diesen zwei Tagen auf dem Summit, habe ich viele nützliche Ideen sammeln können. Firmen, die die Welt ein bisschen besser machen Der Entrepreneurship Summit ist aber keine gewöhnliche Gründermesse, das werdet ihr gleich schon in den ersten Minuten merken. Es geht grundsätzlich immer um den Gedanken: Wie kann ich mit meinem Unternehmen die Welt ein kleines bisschen besser machen? Gefördert werden Projekte und Menschen, die natürlich Geld verdienen, aber auch Gesellschaft und Umwelt nützen. Oder allermindestens nicht schaden. Feindbild war dieses Jahr Nespresso, die ja im Prinzip Kaffee verkaufen, aber auf die teuerste Art und Weise und mit den Aluminiumkapseln auch eine Unmenge an Müll produzieren.
