Marc Rebillet (born December 15, 1988) is an American electronic musician and YouTuber from Dallas, Texas, currently based in New York City. Rebillet is known for his improvised funk and hip-hop electronic music with free flowing, humorous lyrics. Rebillet distributes his work primarily through YouTube videos and Twitch live streams using a loop station, keyboard, vocals and percussion instruments to produce his songs in his apartment. Gabriel Garzón-Montano has had a stunning run for someone who has done virtually no self-promotion: He first caught the ear of singer Meyer Hawthorne, who sent his self-produced debut to Stones Throw Records. That landed Garzón-Montano on tour with Lenny Kravitz in 2014, which is where he was when he learned that Drake wanted to sample his song “6 8." His music has since evolved from spare R&B, influenced by Prince and Stevie and even Radiohead, to include elements of reggaeton, ambient, folk and trap. Gabriel Garzón-Montano - "Agüita (Remix) (feat. Sampa The Great & Amber Mark)" from the 2021 Agüita EP: I on Jagjaguwar/Stones Throw. Last year, New York-based artist Gabriel Garzón-Montano released his sophomore full-length, Agüita, an ambitious "anti-genre" album with everything from reggae to post-punk to funk to folk. This year, he's begun releasing the Agüita EP series, featuring re-workings of songs from that album. Today's Song of the Day is a remix of the title track, featuring new verses from special guests Sampa The Great and Amber Mark. “This 'Agüita' remix is special. Sampa and Amber came with their magic in usual form,” Garzon-Montano said in a press release. “Estoy muy agradecido a estas reinas por este remix. Un aguacero.” (I am very grateful to these queens for this remix. A downpour.)  Amber Mark added: “I was speechless in absolute amazement when GGM played me the ‘Agüita' demo years ago. He literally can tap into any sound he's feeling and make it sound amazing. ‘Agüita' is my motivational anthem; I'm so honored and excited that I get to be a part of this one.” Sampa The Great declared: "It's always amazing to be able to connect across cultures and languages with music! Jamal Gray & Jack Inslee interview Gabriel Garzón-Montana, a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. Brooklyn-born and raised child of immigrant parents, Gabriel's aesthetic is an extension of his French-Colombian heritage. His influence is a pastiche of Bach sonatas, Cumbia records, and the machine gun funk that echoes up and down Nostrand Ave. His mother, a member of the Philip Glass ensemble in the 1990s, instilled within him a painstaking attention to detail that remains a hallmark of his process. “She is the reason that I love music,” he says. Her rigorous classical instruction formed the foundation on which he honed his skills over the years in the lab, copping Stevie's changes, studying Prince's lyrics, and absorbing the beat theses of Timbaland, Dilla, and Pete Rock.

We got to sit down with him just after he killed at the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles. We speak on early influences including his vocalist mother and legendary artist, Prince, and what it was like going from playing in front of 200 people to going on tour with Kravitz.
