What would you do if a loved one's life was on the line, and the key to their health was something as simple, yet profound, as food? Join us as we sit down with Kelly, an integrative nutritionist and workplace wellness specialist. Her story is one of discovery, courage, and resilience. As a former competitive gymnast, she developed an early understanding of nutrition as fuel. However, it was her husband's diagnosis of type one diabetes and her own battle with cancer that truly illuminated the healing power of food and its potential to transform lives. Kelly's journey has led her to challenge conventional wisdom and advocate for a broader understanding of food as more than just fuel. In our enlightening conversation, she illuminates the healing power of bio-energetic nutrition, the hidden dangers of ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, and the vast differences between US and international food brands. It's an eye-opening discussion on how we can all better navigate the overwhelming world of health advice, food trends, and dietary choices to find what uniquely works for our bodies. But our conversation doesn't stop at physical health. We also tackle the often overlooked yet equally important topics of mental health and body image. Kelly shares her insights on the gender differences in stress perception and the impact of societal pressures on our health. Her personal experiences underscore the urgent need to address mental health alongside physical health. This episode isn't just an insightful guide to nutrition - it's a call to listen to our bodies and to prioritize holistic health in all aspects of our lives. Elyse's stress-less approach to health has been game changing for many, taking health from overwhelming to sustainable for every day busy families.  Elyse has worked closely with Quirky Cooking's Jo Whitton for the past 7 years, creating programs, retreats, and collaborating on Jo's latest cookbook, ‘Simple Healing Foods'. You can also hear Elyse speak on a number of podcasts including ‘A Quirky Journey', ‘Low-Tox Life' and ‘Primal Alternative Podcast'.  Elyse's approach is based on taking the normal "guilt, blame, shame and deprivation” and completely turning it on its head, focussing instead on healing, nourishing, and listening to the body. What We Cover: An insight into Elyse's personal health journey and what lead her to do the work she does to support people through the GAPS diet. What the GAPS diet is, how it began and how it is different to other gut healing diets (such as low FODMAP for SIBO). The stages of a GAPS diet- difference between intro and full GAPS and when you know when you are ready to change from one stage to the next.  When you should consider following a GAPS diet. When not to follow the GAPS diet and Elyse's thoughts around GAPS during pregnancy, breastfeeding, babies and young children. The contributing factors for dark circles under eyes in children and her approach to supporting their health.  Why parasite cleansing is not supportive for your gut health. How to overcome bowel movement changes during the GAPS diet- bth loose bowels and constipation.  What is going wrong with conventional baby food introductions and how to set babies up from the beginning for healthy gut health through foods.  Personally why and what healing Elyse notices when she follows GAPS intro.  Tips for kids birthday parties- how to navigate for a healthy gut in children.  Plus more! Period & Women's Coach, Fertility Awareness Educator and TEDx Speaker Sophia Tremenheere last got together to record Episode 22 Perfect Your Period. Sophia helps women and menstruators to experience happier, healthier periods and is passionate about guiding women to unlock their power, potential and productivity by aligning their life and business/career with their menstrual cycle and coming home to their bodies. She also supports women to chart their cycle for contraception and conception by using the ‘Fertility Awareness Method'. I thought this episode was a really important conversation to bring to the table since I myself know so many women who have or still do struggle in the area of conception and pregnancy. It seems to be so widespread and part of me wonders what or if there is some way we are collectively living our lives and experiencing the world that is contributing to these challenges, which is not said with any blame or shame or making wrong, but more so we can gain deeper awareness, zoom out and look at what is working and not working and thus make empowered decisions for ourselves on what feels right and good for us. This conversation brings fertility therefore into a boarder context, encompassing diet, lifestyle, the huge impact of stress, the nervous system, your emotional landscape, your mindset around getting pregnant, beliefs about yourself or your body that you might be unconsciously attached. This can be a very sensitive topic for a lot of women and couples, whether you are trying to get pregnant or not trying or thinking about trying or have been trying for a while, so please note that everything we discuss here is purely an invitation. It's not to make right or wrong. It's not to conflict with any medical advice you've been given but to work in conjunction, offering a well-rounded and holistic approach. I invite you to listen with a keen ear and open heart, looking for nuggets of insight that feel right for you. As with all these episodes, take what you like and leave the rest. If you haven't already you might wish to go back to Episode 22 to more deeply understand your cycle, which is supportive for you as a woman whether you are trying to get pregnant or not. In this episode: - A holistic framework and approach for fertility that can work alongside a purely clinical route - Known and lesser known reasons why you might be experiencing challenges - Challenges contributing to collective widespread issues around menstrual, hormonal and fertility issues - Different methods to measure and monitor your fertile windows - Creating a healthy mindset around conception and getting pregnant to support the journey - Creating safety within our body to support pregnancy - The role and impact of stress upon fertility - Short term and long term management tools for stress - Beliefs around your body or your ability to conceive, stories from past events or inter-generational trauma that is subconsciously blocking you to get pregnant About Sophia:Sophia Tremenheere @sotremendous is a Period & Women's Coach, Fertility Awareness Educator and TEDx Speaker.
