kidnapping in the state are hard working small and medium-sized business owners who most of whom struggled out of poverty to become wealthy successful traders, this, we learnt, there maybe no wealthy successful business owner along the Ihiala-Orlu road left to be kidnapped or forced to pay ransom to the kidnappers, while in Oba, wealthy people are being kidnapped quietly and ransom in millions are paid in silence to the kidnappers, according to members of the community, a young successful businessman was kidnapped recently at a location between the Oba New Road and Old Road junctions shortly after he visited his building construction site, while we also learnt that some people in the state do report or contract their friends to kidnappers just to get a share from the ransom that will be paid afterwards or when such people have issue or dispute with their friends or co-traders, it may interest you to know that, the Anambra State Police Command recently arrested a 24-year-old male suspect, Muanaenye Victor, for allegedly luring his friend to be kidnapped by his criminal gang in Uli, Ihiala local government area of the state and they reportedly collected a ransom in dollars equivalent to ₦5.3 million with his gang members, just as gunmen in a not too long distance time, abducted a lawyer and two other persons in Nkpologwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra, in addition to previous cases of kidnapping of the owner of De Porsche Club, Chief Ebere Orji by unknown gunmen after the gunmen killed numbers of persons along the new Oba-Nnewi road in Idemili South Local government area of Anambra State, with the number of those killed at the Porsche Nightclub said to be seven but one of the security operatives was beheaded, and another had his foot cut off and made away with by the invading deadly kidnappers, this occurred shortly after, a well known native doctor or witch doctor, Chidozie Nwangwu a.k.a Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki was kidnapped, after his two personal aides killed in the vicinity of his hotel at Oba community before the kidnappers effortlessly took him away and was released after ransom in millions were reportedly paid, that not all, on May 21, 2022, shortly after Professor Chukwuma Soludo was sworn in as governor, gunmen abducted the lawmaker representing Aguata 2 Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Okechukwu Okoye, Okoye, also known as “Okey di okay”, represented Soludo's state constituency, Isuofia, Okoye was killed and beheaded alongside his aide, Cyril Chiegboka, six days after they were abducted along Aguluzigbo Road, Anaocha Local Government Area of the state, and their heads and bodies dumped along a roadside in the state, and in December 2024, another lawmaker in the state House of Assembly was kidnapped and killed, and the victim, the lifeless body of the member representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Justice Azuka, was found along the 2nd Niger Bridge, with Azuka's lifeless body, said to be already decomposing was found by a joint team of security operatives 44 days after he was kidnapped on December 24, 2024, along the Ugwunaobankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha, while returning home for Christmas, and the most prominent among the incessant cases of kidnapping in the state, is Martins Onyekesi well known as Fish Magnet, the kidnapping and subsequent kidnapping in the state are hard working small and medium-sized business owners who most of whom struggled out of poverty to become wealthy successful traders, this, we learnt, there maybe no wealthy successful business owner along the Ihiala-Orlu road left to be kidnapped or forced to pay ransom to the kidnappers, while in Oba, wealthy people are being kidnapped quietly and ransom in millions are paid in silence to the kidnappers, according to members of the community, a young successful businessman was kidnapped recently at a location between the Oba New Road and Old Road junctions shortly after he visited his building construction site, while we also learnt that some people in the state do report or contract their friends to kidnappers just to get a share from the ransom that will be paid afterwards or when such people have issue or dispute with their friends or co-traders, it may interest you to know that, the Anambra State Police Command recently arrested a 24-year-old male suspect, Muanaenye Victor, for allegedly luring his friend to be kidnapped by his criminal gang in Uli, Ihiala local government area of the state and they reportedly collected a ransom in dollars equivalent to ₦5.3 million with his gang members, just as gunmen in a not too long distance time, abducted a lawyer and two other persons in Nkpologwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra, in addition to previous cases of kidnapping of the owner of De Porsche Club, Chief Ebere Orji by unknown gunmen after the gunmen killed numbers of persons along the new Oba-Nnewi road in Idemili South Local government area of Anambra State, with the number of those killed at the Porsche Nightclub said to be seven but one of the security operatives was beheaded, and another had his foot cut off and made away with by the invading deadly kidnappers, this occurred shortly after, a well known native doctor or witch doctor, Chidozie Nwangwu a.k.a Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki was kidnapped, after his two personal aides killed in the vicinity of his hotel at Oba community before the kidnappers effortlessly took him away and was released after ransom in millions were reportedly paid, that not all, on May 21, 2022, shortly after Professor Chukwuma Soludo was sworn in as governor, gunmen abducted the lawmaker representing Aguata 2 Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Okechukwu Okoye, Okoye, also known as “Okey di okay”, represented Soludo's state constituency, Isuofia, Okoye was killed and beheaded alongside his aide, Cyril Chiegboka, six days after they were abducted along Aguluzigbo Road, Anaocha Local Government Area of the state, and their heads and bodies dumped along a roadside in the state, and in December 2024, another lawmaker in the state House of Assembly was kidnapped and killed, and the victim, the lifeless body of the member representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Justice Azuka, was found along the 2nd Niger Bridge, with Azuka's lifeless body, said to be already decomposing was found by a joint team of security operatives 44 days after he was kidnapped on December 24, 2024, along the Ugwunaobankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha, while returning home for Christmas, and the most prominent among the incessant cases of kidnapping in the state, is Martins Onyekesi well known as Fish Magnet, the kidnapping and subsequent killing of the young small business owner sparked protest and public awareness like never before, with a social right activist, Martins Otse a.k.a VeryDarkMan coming to the state earlier on Sunday and The plot is an isosceles triangle covered by a mosaic plaque that reads "Property of the Hess Estate which has never been dedicated for public purposes." The Hess Triangle is the result of a dispute between the city government and the estate of David Hess, a landlord from Philadelphia who owned the Voorhis, a five-story apartment building. In the early 1910s, the city claimed eminent domain to acquire and demolish 253 buildings in the area in order to widen Seventh Avenue and expand the IRT subway. By 1913, the Hess family had exhausted all legal options. However, according to Ross Duff Wyttock writing in the Hartford Courant in 1928, Hess's heirs identified that a small corner of Plot 55 had been excluded during the city’s seizure of the Voorhis property and subsequently filed a notice of possession. The city asked the family to donate the diminutive property to the public, but they chose to hold out and installed the present, defiant mosaic on July 27, 1922.In 1938 the property, reported to be the smallest plot in New York City, was sold to the adjacent Village Cigars store (United Cigars at that time) for US$100 (equivalent to $2,234 in 2024). Later, Yeshiva University came to own the property, including the Hess Triangle, and in October 1995 it was sold by Yeshiva to 70 Christopher Realty Corporation. Subsequent owners have left the plaque intact. Researchers at Brown University have developed a combination treatment that significantly increases survival in mice with glioblastoma (GBM), a highly aggressive and treatment-resistant brain cancer. The approach uses a new class of drugs called imipridones along with radiation therapy and standard chemotherapy. This triple therapy, known as IRT, was recently detailed in a study published in Oncotarget. Understanding Glioblastoma and the Need for Better Therapies Glioblastoma is the most common and aggressive malignant brain tumor in adults. It grows quickly and is difficult to treat, often leading to poor outcomes. BUFFALO, NY - April 4, 2025 – A new #research paper was #published in Oncotarget, Volume 16, on March 27, 2025, titled “Imipridones ONC201/ONC206 + RT/TMZ triple (IRT) therapy reduces intracranial tumor burden, prolongs survival in orthotopic IDH-WT GBM mouse model, and suppresses MGMT." Researchers from Brown University, led by first author Lanlan Zhou and corresponding author Wafik S. El-Deiry, have shown that combining a new class of drugs called imipridones with standard glioblastoma treatments significantly improves outcomes in mice. The study tested ONC201 and its analog ONC206 in combination with radiation therapy and the chemotherapy drug temozolomide (TMZ), a regimen referred to as IRT. This triple therapy slowed tumor growth and extended survival in a mouse model of glioblastoma, offering a potential new strategy for one of the most aggressive and treatment-resistant brain cancers. Glioblastoma is a fast-growing brain tumor with a poor prognosis and limited treatment options. Standard care typically includes surgery, radiation, and TMZ, but most patients still face a short life expectancy. While ONC201 and ONC206 are currently being studied in clinical trials as single agents, there has been limited information on how they interact with standard therapies. This study is the first to show that both drugs work synergistically with radiation and TMZ, strengthening their overall effects. The results showed that in both laboratory-grown tumor cells and mice, the triple therapy significantly slowed cancer cell growth, reduced tumor size, and prolonged survival compared to using any single or double treatment. Mice treated with IRT lived an average of 123 days, with some surviving more than 200 days—far longer than the 44 to 103 days observed with other treatment combinations. In addition to directly killing tumor cells, ONC201 and ONC206 lowered the expression of MGMT, a protein that helps tumors resist chemotherapy, making the treatment more effective. The researchers also found that the triple therapy reshaped the tumor environment. It decreased levels of harmful molecules that promote tumor growth and immune evasion while increasing signals that activate the immune system. This dual action—directly attacking tumors and boosting immune responses—adds to the potential impact of this treatment approach. “Overall, our preclinical findings support further exploration of the ONC201 and ONC206 IRT regimen as a potential treatment for GBM and diffuse gliomas with H3K27M mutations.” While these findings are based on preclinical mouse models, they offer strong support for advancing this triple therapy to clinical trials. ONC201 and ONC206 are promising due to their ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and enhance the effects of standard treatment. Dr. Barry Krakow, MD, is a board-certified sleep medicine specialist based in Savannah, Georgia, with over three decades of experience. He transitioned from a distinguished research career focusing on sleep disorders in psychiatric patients to a pioneering clinical practice. Dr. Krakow's expertise began in 1988 at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, where he co-authored the first randomized controlled trial on Imagery Rehearsal Therapy (IRT) for nightmares. When Benjamin Hanna assembled the schedule for his first season as artistic director of the Indiana Repertory Theatre, he placed “Little Shop of Horrors” as the closing production for the 2023-24 season. The IRT, founded in 1972, had not previously staged “Little Shop of Horrors”—which debuted in New York in 1982 and was adapted for a 1986 film. Perhaps more noteworthy is that “Little Shop of Horrors” is a musical. The IRT last staged a traditional Broadway musical in 2013, when Stephen Sondheim's “A Little Night Music” was part of the schedule. For this edition of the podcast, IBJ arts reporter Dave Lindquist talks with Benjamin Hanna and “Little Shop of Horrors” cast member Rob Johansen, who preview the production that opens April 17th. Rob has appeared in more than 50 productions at the IRT. This time, he's the puppeteer controlling Audrey Two, the otherworldly plant that requires human blood to thrive. Emma Shade is a U. S. Army Signal Officer from Georgia. She currently serves as Desk Officer at the Defense Intelligence Agency covering Sub Saharan Africa. Emma speaks French and Arabic, which she used in her assignments in N'Djamena Chad as the Chief of the Office of Security Cooperation and at SETAF-AF in Vicenza, Italy as the Sub Saharan Africa Desk Officer. She completed her IRT at the U. S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Alex Shade is from Ridgewood, New Jersey. A graduate of the Citadel Military College, he commissioned as a U.S. Army Armor Officer, where he served for two years before transitioning to Military Intelligence. An Arabic and German speaker, he currently serves on the Joint Staff J5 on the Israel Desk. Previous assignments include Army Attaché in N'Djamena, Chad, including nine months as Acting SDO/DATT, North Africa Desk Officer at SETAF-AF in Vicenza, Italy, and he completed his IRT at U. S. Genetic modified organisms or GMOs have transformed the entire food industry and global health on a massive scale. And with the recent advent of CRISPR technologies and more complex genetic engineering methods, the new landscape of GMO 2.0 has arrived. Although they are a testament to our scientific progress, they could be doing more harm than good to our bodies. Corinna Bellizzi sits down with global thought leader and author Jeffrey Smith, who presents the dangers of GMOs and genetic engineering. He explains how agrochemical/agricultural biotechnology corporation Monsanto continues to find legal loopholes to integrate toxic chemicals into their food products. I get so real in this episode and share the struggles I have faced with burnout. I thought I had it all together, but that always changes with life. The only constant in life is change. However, as we all know, it is HARD AF to accept that we struggled to implement tools for a better life, have been promoting them, and now they are NOT working for us. That is where I found myself. I had to RE-CREATE everything for myself once the exhaustion set in. And now, I am passing on ALL THE THINGS I am learning to you - IRT. Because you deserve to learn the tools as quickly as I do. They might even save you from getting as mentally exhausted as I am. ✅It's funny, Alexa tells me the synonyms for burnout include : neurosis, mentally exhausted, and collapse. Lethargy, weakness, passive, sluggish, frazzled, listless, drained, worn out. And it is "funny" because people called me all these things. BUT I did NOT see it as burnout. I thought straight up - "Yeah, I AM EXHAUSTED!!" I should sleep ALL DAY. When really, my body needed a break from work and to just be taken care of by the beach
