A music news heavy clutter with Godsmack performing with a member of Aerosmith, Blue Oyster Cult releasing three live albums and the 55th anniversary of "Jumping Jack Flash." Plus rumors about who will be playing the Fantastic Four in the MCU.
For our money, Whoopi Goldberg ranks as one of the greatest actresses of her generation. If you were born after a certain date, you might most know her as a host on The View, but she was breaking down walls and winning Oscars long before that. Her list of credits inspires awe. There's Steven Spielberg's The Color Purple, Ghost (she won the Oscar for that one), Sister Act, which was so good that it got a sequel, Jumping Jack Flash, and many more. Heck, she even made a more than credible action hero in the badass eighties flick Fatal Beauty. At the height of her fame, she made a risky move by going to TV and recurring on Star Trek: The Next Generation as Guinan, but she was a fan of the franchise and didn't care that she could get pigeonholed as a TV actress.Indeed, Whoopi was the best, and it's a shame that she's gotten fewer significant roles in movies in recent years, although she's reprising Guinan on Star Trek: Picard, and there are rumours of a Sister Act sequel happening on Disney Plus. Time will tell, but in the episode of WTF Happened to this Celebrity, we celebrate a talent that's not one to shy away from controversy (a massive understatement if you watch The View) but remains an impeccable actress (even if she did do Theodore Rex);

July 1 1968 in Worthing UK. The Rolling Stones were top of the singles charts with Jumping Jack Flash. 2001, A Space Odyssey was being seen in the cinemas. Manchester United had recently won the European Cup. Harold Wilson's Labour government were struggling since a recent devaluation of the pound. There was a heatwave on the South Coast on 1 July about to break out in violent storms and flooding This is a murder case that is virtually unknown, apart from one sentence on the website Black kalender, there is no trace of it on the internet. The information for this podcast comes from a file in the National Archives and that file is somewhat confused. I can find no record of the man who was convicted for murder David Lewington. My own opinion is that it was not a pre-planned murder, probably an accident but Lewington was convicted of murder and lucky for him it was just after the death sentence law had been ended in the UK. I think that the last person sent to death in the UK was in 1964, this case was in 1968.David Lewington was a dishonest person who probably suffered delusions and was a ‘Walter Mitty' type character. He clearly wanted to be noticed, covering himself in tattoos. How he came to shoot his friend will never be known, the case is long forgotton. Nobody comes out of the case particularly well, those people who surrounded Lewington all seemed to have their own particular problems and issues. Please listen to the podcast and make up your own minds as to what happened.I intend to place one more podcast for Halloween and then I am away for about six weeks, taking a break and hope to be back in December. www.strangestoriesuk.gmail.com
The first of our ‘Summer' readings this year is from Andy Griffee's meticulously researched, fast-paced, crime thriller Canal Pushers.Set on the West Midlands canals from Stratford-upon-Avon up to Birmingham and down to Hanbury (a handy map is included at the front of the book). The detail of the canal systems travelled is beautifully captured as is life aboard a narrowboat for would-be owner Jack Johnson. I initially started the book with some slight apprehension, being drawn by the canal setting and the rave reviews. However, I was quickly hooked. If crime thrillers are your thing, you are going to love this. If canals and narrowboating are more your thing, I think you will love this too. The publisher's blurb provides the following synopsis:“Book 1 in the Johnson & Wilde crime mystery series, featuring ex journalist Jack Johnson, the enigmatic Nina Wilde, and a narrowboat with a top speed of 4 miles per hour… Jack Johnson is newly divorced, recently made redundant and in search of a fresh start. But when a young boy he meets on the canals turns up drowned, trouble seems determined to follow him. With the encouragement of Jack's unlikely companion, Nina, who's come aboard his narrowboat, Jumping Jack Flash, to help him navigate the waterways of the Midlands, Jack is soon tangled up in a police investigation that doesn't quite add up. Is there a serial killer stalking the towpaths? Jack's got more pressing problems too: can a canal boat outrun an organised crime syndicate and a media manhunt?” More information and bibliographic detailsGriffee, Andy (2019) Canal Pushers. A brief look at financial markets with Bokor in the Morning brought to you by the Ocean Wealth team at PI Financial Corp a member of CIPF.
„Pleased to meet you“, The Rolling Stones sind back on track - beziehungsweise wann waren sie das nicht?

¡¡¡buenas vibraciones!!!.
America's first female journalist landed her big story by catching the President of the United States skinny dipping in the Potomac River; and holding his clothes for ransom until he answered her questions. Anne Newport Royall paved the way so modern-day female journalists like Therese Apel could stand on their own, break away from mainstream media and start her own online news outlet, Dark Horse Press. In today's episode of "If This Kitchen Could Talk" I get to talk to Therese about her journey from losing her Sports Editor position at Ole Miss to starting her own news website. Whoopi Goldberg is showing her comedy chops in this 1986 spy movie where there are bodies floating around the river and criminals running around the city! It's not easy being a spy with no training, or clearance, or even connections. But it's definitely fun to watch Whoopi try it out. Directed by Penny Marshall

I had a dream about a big fat owl hahaha that I loved! Hear my shambled review of McMillions which I saw on the Showcase channel on Foxtel which will confuse you no end hahaah. I discovered a new band called Glass Animals. I saw the movie Jumping Jack Flash which is an oldie but a goodie. My invention is humming along and I found out about a 3D printer place to go into the next phase. I worked on my business plan and thought I lost my billionaire mentor but he is still there thank God hahah. Got more make-up plus lots of odds and ends. Best of the 70’s as chosen by our very own Jayney! We think shes done a pretty good job for her first attempt, and using the new studio set up as well. Give it a listen and let us know what you think of her music choices! Sssh dont tell anyone but Jumping Jack Flash is from 1968 not the 70’s lol! Great choice though so we’ll let her off with that one!
It’s Always Sunny with Pee Wee’s Miss Yvonne, Lynne Stewart. When have I laughed this hard for this long… is there anyone cuter… more good-natured… with more fun stories? From Ricky (Richard) Dreyfuss who proposed in the 4th grade, to junior college BFF Cindy Williams, all three going on to do American Graffiti with another pal, Harrison Ford, hello… auditioning for an uninterested George Lucas, meeting Candy Clark and MacKenzie Phillips, cheerleading for Jack Nicholson, very early days at The Groundlings with Tracy & Laraine Newman, Sandy Helberg, Paul Reubens aka Pee Wee Herman, who would change her life; Phil Hartman, and their years-long working and playing relationship; Robin Williams, Laverne & Shirley, Garry Marshall, Penny Marshall, Jumping Jack Flash, Harry Anderson, his daughter, Comedy Bang-Bang, Bridesmaids, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy. Maya Rudolph, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia; how to cry. how to keep working, and, with Lynne around, how to stay laughing. What a time ’tis was! Looking Glass made a brief, but lasting impact in 1972 when they scored the #1 smash "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" off their debut album. After only one more album in 1973, the band broke up and Brandy's songwriter Elliot Lurie put out one non-starting solo album in 1975 before his music career basically ended. He went on to a long and successful career as a music supervisor for films and is responsible for the soundtracks to films like 9 1/2 Weeks, The Last of the Mohicans, and Jumping Jack Flash. In more recent years, thanks to the rise of the yacht rock movement, as well as the inclusion of "Brandy" in the uber successful Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack, Elliot is enjoying a comfortable life. Enjoy! https://www.elliot-lurie.com/

The song this week is my tribute to a little village in Anglesey which has the longest railway station sign in the universe....Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.....the song teaches you how to say the word because if you can sing it you can say it.....I have sent it this week because it has just reached 1.4 million hits on youtube.....I wrote it for my pal Paul Damian back in 1982 for his club act not realising the impact it would have in future years....I originally put it out as a 45 single (a copy of which I sent to lady Di when she was princess of Wales....to help her with her Welsh...AND got a reply from the palace)....it then went on to cassette then CD...I also sent a copy to Wills and Kate...and got another reply from the Palace....the song has seen a lot of action over the years. There has been news coverage of a little chap called Charlie Gard who is on a life support machine which doctors have advised needs switching off...his father took the case to court and lost....the family has raised a million pounds to send him to America for some new treatment which may save his life....even Donald Trump wants to help.....it is a really tragic situation....you would naturally think they should try everything but I suppose the doctors know best?....so sad for the family....let's hope it all works out for the better, I've been losing sleep over the news that Tony Hadley has split from Spandau Ballet....how many times is this lot going to break up before to stops being news...who cares?....I was never a fan of the band or indeed most of the 80's music....I used to say "the day the music died...January 1st 1980".....I have mellowed a bit since.....the hardest part of playing in a band is actually staying together...my band lasted from 1962 until 2015....with several changes of personnel along the way however...it's a long road with all sorts of unnatural pressures which these talent contestants are sadly not aware of......but I must add that our band never fell out as such and we always remained friends. There is to be another series of The Windsors which takes the mick out of our royalty....I watched the first series and it took me a while to get into it....we have Charles and Camilla,Kate and Wills, and Harry whose new girlfriend is to be included....it is so bad it's funny....they had some of the actors on being interviewed and they pointed out that the show didn't go down to well in America...which made me laugh...the Yanks do not get mickey taking and sarcasm....when I was over in the States recording the songs I wrote for my mate wrestler Adrian Street we were constantly insulting each other and the Yanks were quite shocked...it was so funny....they do seem to live in a bubble. Speaking of the royalty Kate has been to Wimbledon for the beginning of the tennis....now forget Andy Murray....forget Nadal...forget Jocovic.....Kate has had her hair cut !!!....it's now a few inches shorter !!!...headline news......I'm looking forward to the tennis especially week 2....I'm not a gambling man but I might put a fiver on Nadal to win it....you have to play the game to realise how good these players are and the level of fitness required....many years ago there used to be a pre Wimbledon tournament in Hoylake where a lot of the top players would turn out to get themselves in shape....my band used to entertain them at a nearby hotel (Leasowe Castle)...and I remember a guy called Peter Lundgren who asked if he could get his guitar and play a few tunes with the band....I was showing him the riff to Jumping Jack Flash and the world number 10 was hanging on my every word....horses for courses?

Bobby Watson has a reputation for bringing a solid foundation to any rhythm section, but he particularly shines in 'Rufus', a band he joined forces with in early 1974. BW has been a major contributor in helping create the 'Rufus' sound, not only with his playing, but also as a producer & songwriter on all of the Rufus albums from 1974' til present. Rufus released 11 albums from 1974-1983. Rufus and Chaka Khan also won many awards including 2 Grammys and 10 Gold and Platinum records. His style of bass playing can be heard not only on Rufus, but on other artist's hits as the Pointer Sister’s "Jumping Jack Flash", Michael Jackson's "Rock with You" & Billy Preston's "Nothing from Nothing". Bobby produced four albums with Rene & Angela from 1979-85 the last of which went Gold (Street Called Desire). Bobby also produced Plush featuring Seidah Garrett, and Janet Jackson's debut album titled "Janet". Bobby resided in Japan from 1985-1995, and took part in countless productions, recordings and tours. Back to Los Angeles in 1995 joined up with Steve Harvey. Bobby's symbiotic relationship with Steve has resulted in over 100 songs being written together, as well as numerous recording sessions playing both bass & guitar for artists Brigette McWilliams, Frank McCombs, Cece Winans, The Temptations, N'Dambi, Ledisi & Rachelle Farrell. Shorty thereafter Bobby replaced "Verdine White" in a band consisting of 90% of original EWF members called "The LA All Stars". In 1998 Bobby toured with Chaka Khan, Larry Graham and Prince, playing all over Europe.Bobby also took part in a Rufus & Chaka Khan Reunion Tour in 2001 as opening act for Earth Wind & Fire. Unfortunately, the tour was cut short by 9/11. In 2002 Bobby joined Earth Wind & Fire original members Sheldon Reynolds, Morris Pleasure, Larry Dunn, Johnny Graham and Kenny Olson (Kid Rock) for a concert celebrating Jimi Hendrix's (would be) 60th Birthday at the EMP Museum in Seattle.
