In the latest episode of the DO IT MY WAY Podcast, we dive into the power of niches and why the most successful brands are built for the few, not the masses. Hospice workers told me that music is a tremendous support for those who are dying, that they retain their sense of hearing longer than any other sense. Music is powerful medicine. Early Remains' “Weald” will give you an idea of the overall release. Svarvi by Songleikr Lovely Norwegian single, released just in time to herald not only the promise of longer days to come, but the advent of a new release, due early next year. Done in a traditional style, it depicts an endless dance between the masculine and feminine, balance and letting go. Bring on the full release! The Nightmare of Reason by Flight76 favorite track The Nightmare of Reason Much of this is music that has been resurrected and reworked by it's original composer from his band that existed in the 1970s, along with new tracks as well. This is superb progressive music with a tinge of the original era still permeating, yet without it’s overexcesses. The musicianship is superb, as well as the vocals, and the thoughtfulness of the lyrics all combine for a stunning “debut.” I'm presenting the epic opener as my favourite track, but all are worthy of your time. Tepid on my Trippin Heels by Naomi Randall favorite track The Devil’s Fountain Psych folk artist brings us original tunes in that style, plus 2 traditional tunes. Naomi has played all of the instruments on the recording, with the exception of some drums, and sings each in her delightfully dulcet voice. The lyrics are sometimes wry and often haunting. The Smile You Send Out Returns To You by CONSTANT FOLLOWER favorite track Happy Birthdays This Scottish ensemble brings pensively wistful folk songs. They utilize guitars bass, piano, and synths, with both male and female vocals. Guests supply more of the same, plus drums, harp, and mellotron. My favourite track is the achingly poignant Happy Birthdays. Shiraz by Dhafer Youssef favorite track Rose Fragrance Beautiful blend of jazz, chamber, and world music, in honour of the composer, singer, and oudist Dhafer Youssef's wife, Shiraz. As mentioned, he plays oud and sings in his signature style, and is accompanied by piano, trumpet, electric bass, drums, and electric guitar. This is simply gorgeous and everything you expect from this master of music. The Dream We Carry by The Revolutionary Army of The Infant Jesus favorite track Equinox More scintillating retro psych folk that passed me by somehow last year. This outfit from Liverpool consistently deliver exquisitely melancholic piece s, with lyrics offered up in several languages. Instrumentation is provided by keyboards, cello, percussion, and the achingly plaintive female vocals. This is golden. Harmr by Thurnin favorite track Mana Netherlands composer Jurre Timmer's latest release again turns to Icelandic inspiration, this time ruminating upon grief and sorrow (which are rough translations of the title). Impeccably played acoustic guitar is at the core of all of the pieces, with delicate embellishments of flute and some haunting, distant vocal parts. Galleon Ascending by The Prophets of Zarquon favorite track Pastoral The Prophets of Zarquon are back. Their particular version of psych folk shimmers with lysergic splendour, featuring the soaring vocals of the mononymous Roseanna. She's accompanied by Dr Rob Shroud on guitars, and Lord Zar on mellotron, keyboards, bass, and percussion. This is just a phantasmagoric vision.

The music is dense and lush, heavily orchestrated, simply gorgeous chamber folk music with alt- and post-rock leanings. Mørketid by KALANDRA This EP from Norwegian folktronica band, Kalandra, includes new songs, plus their last single release. They remain true to their Nordic sound, with their light and airy vocalist being the singular identifying element of the band. Mirra by Benedicte Maurseth favorite track Nysnø over reinlav Norwegian folk/jazz/ambient hardanger fiddle player offers this gem, exploring the environment of reindeer. Indeed, it features the sounds of a reindeer herd (the title is an almost-lost Hardanger word for when reindeer run about in circular patterns). The result is hypnotic and entrancing. Not on Bandcamp Cafuné “Tra le corde dei racconti” 2025 This sublime Italian sextet offer a modern slant to medieval and renaissance styled music, utilizing both acoustic and electric instruments. They combine guitars, flute, harp, keyboards, bass, and drums, with a stellar female vocalist. There are originals here, as well as reworkings of traditional tunes. Best played as a whole, to illustrate what you'll hear, I'm choosing the opener as my favourite track. Favourite Track: Cafuné Fen Creatures by Fuzzy Lights favorite track The Promise The fifth album for this Cambridge quintet is a fine example of what can happen when you blend psych, folk, drone, and post rock. Female lead vocalist, scratchy violin, guitars, bass, drums, and electronics comprise the makeup of the band. All together, the songs are ominous, dark and eerie, just the kind of thing I love to hear. December by Mediæval Bæbes favorite track January This is an old-fashioned “single” format, a two song release, with the promise of an upcoming full release. As always, superb vocals and musicianship from these women and their guests. The two pieces are decidedly wintery, with the title track being more upbeat in mood. Letters to a Distant Past by Deposed King favorite track Daymare Classically influenced atmospheric and cinematic rock with smatterings of folk, psych, post rock, and some heaviness from time to time, this Hungarian duo deliver once again. This release is best played from start to finish, but I will use Daymare as my favourite track to pique your interest. ICONOCLASTS by Anna von Hausswolff favorite track Unconditional Love feat. Maria von Hausswolff Stunning new release , this one delves deeply into the destruction of idols. It also examines the destruction from personal relationships, with the freedom of resurrection after the depths have been plumbed. Indeed, there is a guest appearance from a true iconoclast, Iggy Pop, on one poignant tune. Her signature dense pipe organ is still here, with plenty of orchestration, plus she adds vocals throughout, with her daughter contributing as well, on my favourite track of the release, A Bridge To Far by MIDLAKE favorite track The Ghouls Midlake are back with another stellar release. They bring their indie alt-rock dreaminess in full force, with some whispers into jazz territory at times. The overall feel is warm and dreamy, with flute and piano flourishes, and a sense of distance, as though listening from a spot down the hall from where the band is playing. Synesthesia by Azam Ali favorite track Song to the Siren Perennial favourite of mine, Azam Ali also brings a new full release of her always sublime music. This one brings plenty of world and electronica, also folk and trance music. It explores feelings of disconnectedness (as during the pandemic), yet still conveying a sense of belonging to the spiritual. She does two cover tunes, one by Natalie Merchant, and this one, my sentimental favourite of the release, Tim Buckley's Song to the Siren The World Under Unsun (24-bit HD audio) by Lunatic Soul favorite track Good Memories Don’t Want to Die The eighth and final in a series of solo releases by Mariusz Duda (on all instruments and vocals), bringing the cycle full circle. He examines complex toxic relationships, rejects them, and finds peace, while retaining what good there was, through introspection and, ultimately forgiveness. There is plenty of forcefulness, but, as one might expect, the delicacy (and harp sounds) of Good Memories Don't Want to Die, is my favourite track.
Ready to level up your marketing strategy for your podcast? On this week's episode of Podbean Amplified we invited Todd Eury, founder and host of the Pharmacy Podcast Network, the leading audio platform for pharmacy professionals.
This conversation with Jeff Gayduk, publisher of Premier Travel Media, reveals an industry at a transformative inflection point where specialized group travel is experiencing unprecedented growth despite predictions of its demise. Speaking from his unique vantage point overseeing multiple travel industry verticals, Gayduk identifies 2026 as a watershed year driven by three major events—the World Cup, Route 66's centennial, and America's 250th anniversary—while highlighting the explosive growth in niche markets from pickleball tourism to multi-generational family trips. The discussion underscores a fundamental shift in how travel experiences are designed and marketed, moving away from cookie-cutter itineraries toward highly specialized, passion-driven offerings that leverage everything from sports tournaments to career readiness programs, with successful operators focusing on authentic relationships and deep expertise rather than trying to compete with legacy brands on traditional offerings.10 Key Takeaways1. Group Travel is Experiencing Its Most Exciting EraThe group travel market has undergone a complete transformation since COVID, moving from a defensive position of proving relevance to an offensive surge of innovation and growth. Special interest groups, family bonding experiences, and educational opportunities are creating unique travel products unavailable to individual consumers. The pandemic's forced separation actually accelerated demand for meaningful group experiences rather than diminishing it.2. Three Major Events Will Define 2026 TourismThe World Cup across 16 North American cities will bring 6.5 million visitors with 40% from overseas, creating massive opportunities for tour operators in hub cities. Route 66's anniversary and America's 250th celebration will generate patriotic tourism and historical programming throughout the year. These events create both standalone opportunities and chances for creative tour operators to build complementary experiences around the main attractions.3. Sports Tourism Has Become the Industry's Hidden GiantYouth sports tournaments drive consistent weekend travel with families spending whatever necessary for their children's athletic participation, creating massive but underserved tourism segments. Adult amateur sports, particularly pickleball, are seeing explosive growth with facilities featuring 32-64 courts becoming destinations themselves. The opportunity lies not in the games themselves but in creating experiences for the downtime between matches, serving families who are tourists without tour infrastructure.4. The Student Travel Market Has Evolved Beyond Class TripsCareer readiness programs are emerging as students face AI-driven uncertainty about future employment, with manufacturers and trade schools becoming unexpected tourism partners. Small, specialized STEM groups and performance ensembles are replacing massive band trips, creating opportunities for highly targeted educational experiences. College visit tours have become sophisticated multi-campus experiences as the stakes for education choices continue rising.5. Niche Specialization Beats General Tourism Every Time"The riches are in the niches" has proven true as operators who focus on specific passions outperform those trying to compete on standard itineraries. Technology now enables operators to reach highly specific audiences globally rather than being limited to local marketing through yellow pages and park districts. The tighter the niche, the easier it becomes to market and the more likely customers are to pay premium prices for expertise.6. Multi-Generational Travel Represents Billions in Untapped OpportunityOlder Americans with disposable income are funding entire family trips, from luxury yacht cruises to Disney vacations, often including extended...
