Pastor John Keating The author of Hebrews was writing to a group of Christians who had converted from Judaism. The entire book of Hebrews aims to encourage discouraged Christians. In these chapters, the author draws upon their Jewish experiences by referring to Jesus as their compassionate and helpful High Priest. Hebrews 5:4-5a, 7-9 (NLT)- Jesus's role in our lives is not limited to the one who brought us Salvation.- Because of His sacrifice, He is qualified to be this High Priest on our behalf before God! - A High Priest in a Jewish community would spend time reading the Torah, sharing stories of their Jewish heritage, and explaining or answering questions about passages of the Torah people didn't understand. This relationship with the High Priest was intended to be intentional and ongoing and help people grow in their understanding of who God was. - The author reminds Christians that their relationship with Jesus should be intentional and ongoing! If you have a daily relationship with someone, you know them, experience them, and value them! The encouragement is to see Jesus as the High Priest with us daily, be intimate in prayer, and appreciate Him so much that we are compelled to know Him better! Doing this could transform our lives… but we get this warning of reality!!! Hebrews 5:11 (NLT)- Airplane Christian- Romans 10:17 (NLT) Hebrews 5:12-6:3 (NLT)- This is for seasoned Christians- Baby Christians vs. Maturity- Pastor isn't feeding me…- Feed Yourself.- Psalm 34:8 (NLT)How mature is your faith? What level of influence does Christ have on you?- Imitation of Christ Hebrews 7:26-28 (NLT)

When women come to me to work together on their nutrition, I always end up hearing so many sad stories. These women are living lives where they've been skipping meals for years in order to lose weight. When they do eventually end up eating, they are terrified of carbs or eating over the 1,200 calories we've all been conditioned to think is a "magic" number. The nutrition world has come so far, and yet, the bad advice given years ago just won't seem to go away. When your goal is weight loss, you do need to be mindful of the calories you consume. However, when you aren't eating enough, your weight loss efforts can be hindered as well. Let's talk about 3 reasons why you should actually be eating MORE in order to lose weight. In this episode, we cover: Eating more (not less) to lose weight How the restriction of calories can lead to self-sabotage How the right type (not just the amount) of food matters Why adequate calorie consumption is essential for optimal health in all areas LINKS AND RESOURCES MENTIONED IN TODAY'S EPISODE: Join the Feed Yourself Food Club (monthly recipe membership) here! When most people think about getting in shape and becoming “healthy”, they immediately think about their physical health: losing weight, making exercise a priority, possessing flexibility and endurance, and remaining disease free. But Scripture makes it clear that physical wellness is not the only area that impacts health. In order to be TRULY healthy, we have to focus on four areas: spiritual health, emotional health, mental health, and physical health. This podcast dives deep into the tools and head knowledge you will need in order to create lasting results, but it also looks at the element that truly ties it all together - the heart knowledge that incorporates faith in God in this area of our lives and how to apply it when things get tough (and they will!). I wanted to create a space to let you know you are never alone on this journey. There is a strong correlation between our nutrition and mental health. Here are four tips for improving your own mental health through a tried and trusted nutrition approach. Food dye is a chemical substance that was created to give food an artificial color, therefore “enhancing” the appearance and appeal of the food. I used to live between two extremes when it came to vacation: I would either throw caution to the wind and eat all the food in sight, or I would stress about how much weight I was going to gain and restrict myself for days to try to get the number on the scale to go down. I have had several clients come to me within the last few weeks asking questions about what to do while traveling to stay on track and maintain their progress, so I thought it would be a good idea to share some of those tips here on the show. Many of you have worked hard and do not want to lose momentum and progress as you travel, but you also want to relax and have fun and spend quality time with your families. The good news is that you can do both! Check out this episode for my three tips to staying on track while vacationing. Our household has been flooded with sickness the last couple weeks, so I thought it would be fun to re-release one of my favorite episodes with my favorite person: my husband, Jordan! We recorded this epiosde back in 2022, and while so many things have changed, so many of them still remain the same. Having a healthy relationship requires commitment. We talk a lot about how important it is to keep God at the center of it all first and foremost. We share about the behind the scenes of our relationship and how we got together including goals, challenges we have faced, parenting, and advice for couples. Above all else, in order to have a healthy relationship we remind you that finding the right one and keeping God in your relationship should be the most important part. If God is not in your relationship, it is not the right relationship. Continue to pursue God in all that you do, including in your relationships. This was a fun Q&A with my husband and we hope you enjoy revisiting it! (Be on the lookout for an upcoming episode where we share our latest adventure of becoming a family of four later this year!) On this week's episode, we're joined by Leslie Schilling, registered dietitian and author. We focus on themes in her second book, Feed Yourself, which explores the intersection of diet culture and religion — how diet culture shows up in the safest spaces, including places of worship. We discuss interrogating the church, and how diet culture is perpetuated through its messaging and ideologies. From weight to food choices, to health and morality, to the lies that instill shame and guilt – specifically when it comes to our bodies. I've really admired and respected Leslie for years. We're connected on social media, and hold similar values. I was really looking forward to in this conversation about faith and religion, because it's not something that has been a big part of my life. And this is exactly why I have this podcast – to bring on all different lived experiences; discuss hard things; dig into the nuance and make sure that nuance is shared. I hope you enjoy this one, I know I did. Leslie Schilling, MA, RDN, CSCS, CEDS-S, owns a Las Vegas-based private practice specializing in nutrition counseling for families, people with disordered eating concerns, professional athletes, and performers. Leslie has served as a performance nutrition consultant for Cirque du Soleil® and the NBA and an expert contributor to U.S. News & World Report. You may know Leslie best as the creator and co-author of the award-winning book Born To Eat. Her new book, Feed Yourself, about how diet culture shows up in our safest places, is available anywhere books are sold. Support the show: Enjoying this podcast? Like most families who celebrate, our family has certain traditions that we do each year on Easter. As with most traditional holidays, a lot of these traditions are centered around food and family. Today's podcast episode was inspired by a question I received from one of my current clients inside my 6 week private nutrition program. I am so glad she asked this question because I feel like anyone who has gone on a “diet” has had similar thoughts. On one hand, you do not want to flush your progress down the drain, and on the other hand you do not want to become obsessive and miss out on moments that matter most with your family. Here are my 3 insider tips for handling the Easter holiday (or any holiday!) while keeping your nutrition in check. Check out today's episode. I have realized that most of the time when someone throws themselves into something with an all or nothing mindset, it is truly because they want to do it right. They want a set of guidelines or rules to follow, and then they want to stick to it. When they don't, they assume they failed and they go back to the old habits that bring them comfort because no one likes to feel like a failure. Life doesn't stop happening just because you decide to go on a diet, and if you aren't careful, this is where a bad relationship with food can become worse. However, that doesn't have to be the case. There is a better way. My goal is to help you achieve lasting weight loss without living in a constant state of deprivation. Deprivation does not just mean feeling deprived, but actually BEING deprived. When women severely restrict calories, it becomes really easy to restrict essential nutrients as well. There's a right way and a wrong way, a healthy way and an unhealthy way, to lose weight. When you decide to give your body what it needs instead of depriving it, your body will respond. Check out today's episode. Thank you for tuning in! Most of us are chronically tired and overly stressed. So many of us are caught up in the everyday grind that has become the norm of life, and rest for ourselves simply gets put on the back burner. Rest is more than just restoration for your tired body. It's a restoration for your tired soul as well. When we continually try to carry our heavy load in our own strength, we get burdened down. The Lord desires for us to feel light, and to bring our burdens and the things that keep us up at night to Him, and He will give us the rest we need. Instead of stress, we can let go and rest. Food can be an idol just like anything else in our lives. It can consume our thoughts, our attitudes, and our actions. It can be something we constantly think about, dwell on, or even covet. Our contentment and satisfaction should be found in Christ alone, and when that begins to fade, food can creep in and take its place. When we put the food we eat or the number on the scale before God, we are truly missing out on what He has in store for our lives because we aren't seeking His face. Instead, we are seeking to hide or heal with food. Check out today's episode. Thank you for tuning in! Embracing Your Season: Raising Littles and Understanding Teens with Paige Clingenpeel
Leslie Schilling, author of Feed Yourself, joins host Paige Clingenpeel on this week's episode of Embracing Your Season. Leslie is a Registered Dietician, Sports Nutritionist, Nutrition Specialist and specializes in eating disorders. They discuss her book and Leslie shares advice about parenting, health and diet culture. Health isn't just about diet and exercise or the food we put in our bodies. It is so much bigger in terms of mental health, connection and listening to our bodies.Paige's Takeaways:Don't be afraid of food. Food fears are actually more unhealthy than the food itself. If we are looking at food like it's dangerous, that is going to cause stress. It's going to eliminate the ability to eat healthy foods or to give our bodies the food that it needs.Make additions to your eating, don't tell yourself that you can't have something. If we are telling ourselves “no” that's going to make us lean into rebellion more and eat those things or supplement with something else. Just add to your diet instead.Take a moment and listen to the cues that your body is giving you. Our bodies are divinely designed. They are designed with purpose and on purpose. If our bodies are telling us we need something or we are hungry, listen! WE need to treat our bodies with honor and respect and listen to it.WE are modeling for our kids. If you speak ashamedly about your body, about your weight, about your clothes, your hair or your appearance, our kids are going to pick up on that. This goes for both girls and boys so be mindful of what you are saying. This can affect mental health as well.Paige ClingenpeelQuestions About the Podcast? It's a brand new year, and with that comes LOTS of resolutions for most people. While these are usually fantastic things to strive to accomplish, almost no one finishes the year having completed the things they set out to do at the beginning of the year. Why do you think this is? Deep in my heart, I truly think that the reason is because we set out to completely change ourselves instead of learning to embrace our God-given bodies and seeking out ways to take care of them. Every year in January, I hear well meaning people proclaim the mantra “new year, new me.” I would love for you to ask yourself the question, "Why would you want to be someone you're not?" God created you just the way you are. You have quirks, you have tendencies, and you have a unique personality unlike anyone else. You can absolutely work on yourself while also loving yourself through the process. In this episode, I invite you to start the new year looking to embrace who you are and letting the Lord refine you into just how you were created to be. Check out today's episode. This week, we are continuing the countdown of your top played Feed Yourself Episodes! Over the next few weeks, we will be replaying the top episodes of the year, so if you missed them or just want to hear them again…here they are! Your #2 top episode is…How Do You Take Thoughts Captive? Taking your thoughts captive means you choose what you allow to take up residence in your mind. It means aligning the desires of your heart with what God desires for you and then believing what God desires for you. There's a huge difference in having that head knowledge and truly believing what you know to be true. It is not God's desire for you to condemn yourself, constantly criticize yourself, and speak negatively toward yourself. Our thoughts have such a massive impact on our lives that it's important to be able to discern between what God says and what the enemy is trying to lead us to believe. So how do we do this? The term “carb cycling” has been trending for several years now, and yet there is still so much confusion surrounding what it actually is and how to do it correctly. As with any nutrition strategy, carb cycling is not “magic.” It's a tool in the toolbox of techniques that can be used to achieve a desired result. One of the biggest issues I have with the food industry is how much more money it costs to buy nutritious foods to fuel your family than serving up overly processed foods each and every night. I totally understand when a mom tells me “it's just too expensive to eat healthy.” I have lots to say about this, however none of it is helpful in actually solving the problem that families are having a hard time being able to afford nutritious food to fuel their bodies right now. So with that, I wanted to offer up a few strategies to help you eat well while staying on a budget. Check out today's episode. Thank you for tuning in! I'd love to chat more about this and any other nutrition questions you have over on Instagram (@rachelmeigsking)! “Eating fat makes you fat.” That has been the school of thinking for most Americans for more than two decades now. It's a theory and myth that has kept our nation's people sick and overweight. Fat isn't bad on its own and there is no reason to fear it any longer. So if you banned fat back in the 90s, or if you are still holding on to the belief that eating fat will make you fat, it's time to jump off that derailed bandwagon. This episode is a re-release of my very first episode of Feed Yourself! Over the weekend, my family had burgers - not turkey burgers, but real hamburgers - and it made me remember all the days in the past that I too believed the lie of fat making you fat. So friend, I hope you listen to this episode and stop fearing the burger or whatever food it is that you love but have cut from your life out of fear. Check out today's episode. Finding the faith that God is working through each better decision you make, even when you can't see the evidence right away. Mindset is so important. It shapes who we are and what we believe to be true. Mindset is important for every area of your life – spiritual life included. Your mindset can either help you grow in faith or keep you stuck in old thought patterns. I believe there are 3 important mindset shifts for spiritual growth. 1. See everything as for my good and His glory. This is huge. When you choose to see things as happening to help you instead of harm you, that is where true faith begins. You can align yourself with God's truth for you and who He called you to be when you make this mindset shift. 2. Look at your past with gratitude and grace. Give yourself grace. No matter what your past looks like, give yourself grace. Everything in your life has brought you here for this moment and the life you are living now. Your past shaped you into the person you are. You're still here because you have work left to do and God is here to help guide you through it. You can't change the past but you don't have to stay stuck there. 3. Focus within. All of the answers you are searching for are inside of your already. God gave you your vision AND the ability to follow through with it. The Holy Spirit dwells within you. I cannot wait to see where your walk with God will go when you use these three mindset shifts. When you reframe your way of thinking, you are able to move forward in your spiritual health. Weight loss is not a fast process. At least, it isn't when you do it the right way. You did not gain 10, 20 or 50 pounds overnight, and you won't lose it that way either. When most people try to lose weight, they go into it with a diet mentality. And why not? That's what we've been taught, right? Diets are restrictive, and with restriction comes taking lots of things OUT of your diet to achieve the results you want. Yes, you can't walk around eating an entire bag of chips and a package of oreos daily, but you don't necessarily have to walk around in deprivation either. In fact, there are lots of things you need to ADD to your diet when you want to lose weight. In this episode, Amanda and I give you three things to actually ADD into your diet to achieve the results you want to achieve. We also throw in a bonus tip, so stick around until the end ;-) Check out today's episode. Thank you for tuning in! Leslie Schilling returns for part two of an insightful and thought-provoking conversation. In this episode, Leslie and host Heather Creekmore discuss the challenging promises of diet culture and the importance of accepting and respecting diverse body types. They delve into the factors that influence weight, including medications, illnesses, and surgeries, and debunk the myth that body weight can be changed through willpower alone. The conversation takes a deep dive into the spread of diets like OPTAVIA and Gwen Shamblin's Weigh Down Workshop in churches, and the concerning trend of pastors and community members leading others towards these restrictive eating plans. Leslie reflects on her own journey from placing hope in diets to realizing that Jesus is the only rescue needed. The episode also explores the intersection of faith, health, and accessibility to nutritious food. Leslie highlights the privilege of easy access to grocery stores and acknowledges that not everyone has the same advantages. She challenges the notion that nutrition should be the sole focus of our relationship with God, reminding listeners that social determinants of health, trauma, and medications greatly impact one's well-being. Throughout the conversation, Leslie and Heather touch on various topics including shame, the objectification of women within Christian communities, the impact of purity culture, and the intergenerational transmission of body image issues and eating disorders. They also express excitement about Leslie's new book which tackles these issues in an unprecedented way and delves into the infiltration of diet culture in safe spaces like schools. Listeners are encouraged to question external controls and seek inner wisdom, as well as to challenge the messages of diet culture that pervade churches and places of worship. need for safe spaces that promote body acceptance and eliminate harmful messaging tied to worthiness. Ultimately, this conversation serves as a call to remove the lens of diet culture from our interpretation of biblical teachings and to prioritize loving well above arbitrary standards of appearance and perfection. Sleep plays a crucial role when it comes to overall health and quality of life. What happens when you are sleeping contributes greatly to how you feel when you are awake. In children, sleep also helps support their growth and development. Over time, getting inadequate sleep can increase risk of long-term issues: heart, respiratory, immunity, as well as brain function. These are just some of the reasons why I wanted to bring on my friend, Kaley Medina, to talk to us all about the importance of sleep and give us some tips on how to get more quality sleep. Kaley Medina, is the Founder of Live Love Sleep, the nation's leading Pediatric and Adult Sleep Coaching Agency. Kaley partners with families worldwide and teaches healthy sleep habits to newborns, infants, children, and adults. Through her unique sleep consulting program, Kaley takes a new approach to traditional sleep coaching and empowers her clients to lean in and love parenting as much as they love their children. Through customized sleep coaching programs, sleep consulting, and shifts in habits, she can help children love bedtime and sleep through the night. As a mother of two, Kaley founded Live Love Sleep out of a void in her postpartum journey to support & educate new families on the importance of sleep. She credits sleep as the foundation needed to be strong and healthy for her family. Check out today's episode. Thank you for tuning in! The June 16th episode on gluttony caught many listeners by surprise, so today Heather revisits this topic to go even deeper into what the Bible says about gluttony. Heather delves into the topic of gluttony again and provides listeners with tools to think critically about what it means according to Scripture, not bloggers or internet pundits. Today Heather discusses how the Church has historically used manmade created lists of virtues and vices but how it's crucial to interpret them in light of God's word. She also questions how our interpretations of scripture have been influenced by diet culture and encourages listeners to have conversations with their spiritual leaders about this topic, with their Bibles open. How do you take thoughts captive and what does this even mean? Carb cycling may seem fancy, but it is a pretty simple concept: you eat more carbohydrates on some days and fewer carbohydrates on other days. As with any nutrition strategy, carb cycling is not “magic.” It's a tool in the toolbox of techniques that can be used to achieve a desired result. The big questions everybody wants to know: will carb cycling work for me and how on earth do you implement carb cycling? I answer all of these and more in today's episode. Thank you for tuning in! I'd love to chat more about this topic and other nutrition questions you have over on Instagram (@rachelmeigsking)! Did you know that 80 PERCENT of people walk around living in fear, making reactive decisions that are keeping them stuck? Instead of forward projecting about what they really want their future to look like, they are driven by fear and avoidance. This can pertain to anything - starting a business, continuing to work a job you hate, letting other people dictate your time so you never have time to invest in your health, living in people-pleasing and growing resentment…the list goes on and on… In this episode, I dive into the truth that your future self is depending on your current self. Literally every decision you make has an impact on your future self in some form or fashion. The food you choose to eat. The amount of sleep you get. The way you spend your time. The media you consume. It all has an impact. “No matter what you do, there will be bystanders outside the arena who criticize. They will doubt you. But staying outside the arena means you're overthinking, caught in paralysis by analysis. You're letting fear win.” - Dr. Benjamin Hardy Will you step out in faith today? Have you been “on a diet” for as long as you can remember? Jumping from one diet to another, seeing success for a while and then stalling out? By continuing this diet cycle and eating less and less, you may actually be CAUSING your body to hold onto the unwanted weight. It's time to talk about going on a “reverse diet.” Reverse dieting is often referred to as the diet after the diet. It is a way to gradually increase calories over a few weeks or months to allow you to eat more food after you've been restricting calories or not eating enough. It increases your metabolism and prevents fat gain. I know what you are thinking — wait, ladies…eat more?! Yes! When you go through restrictive periods, it is common to see weight loss plateaus. When you decrease your calories and can't anymore, your body stalls out. When you limit the amount of fuel you are taking in, you experience hormone changes and this is where your body will start to suppress or release hormones. Your body is literally saying “feed me!” This even causes your digestion to slow down to absorb nutrients and calories. Your resting metabolic rate decreases which causes your body to redirect all focused energy on vital organs to keep you alive. This is why you will often see brittle nails and hair loss. Your body is focused on keeping you alive, not thriving. Your energy will also deplete. The good news is you don't have to stay there. If you want to eat more without gaining weight or are someone who has been dieting for a long time and you're ready to maintain your current level of body fat, then the reverse diet method is right for you. The hardest part is the mindset. We have been told to restrict and over-exercise and this is simply not how God intended us to be. God created your body to work for you and not against you. Guel your body properly, take care of it, and it will respond. If you are in a weight loss plateau and feel like you can't restrict anymore – book a call and let's chat more about. It. Amanda and I would love to help you learn how you can actually eat more (fueling your body properly) and not rely on a restrictive lifestyle. Thank you for tuning in! I hope this episode helped you. There are a lot of positive things about social media and being able to connect online. It can be such a great way to keep in touch with loved ones and stay in loop about what's going on in your area, as well as news around the world. As much as I truly love social media, there is also so much negative energy on it. Negative digital experiences can trigger anxiety and depression and affect self-esteem. Doing a digital detox is a great way to find out if technology is holding you back from truly living the life you were designed to live. The results of unplugging can expand to multiple areas, from being more productive at work to deepening your relationships with God, family and friends. Here are just some of the benefits of taking some time away from the digital life: Sharper focus: During a digital detox, you may find that you are more tuned in to your surroundings. Less stress: For some people, too much information can be stressful and overwhelming. Better social interactions: When you eliminate digital distractions, it creates more opportunities to pay attention to those around you. More control of your time: Taking a break from digital devices or media helps you combat compulsive use. There is ZERO judgment here if you've let the online space and social media creep in a bit more than you'd like these days. In this digital age we live in, it's really easy to do. I can't wait to hear which version of a digital detox you will do and what steps you will take to improve this area of your health! (English) In this message Ps Catherine talks about if any good could come our of hard times in these 6 points:(Luke 4:1-2 NIV) “Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, (2) where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.”1.The Father Loves You2.The Holy Spirit is with You(Luke 4:3-4 NIV) “The devil said to him, ‘If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.' (4) Jesus answered, ‘It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone.'” 3.Feed Yourself the Right Things(Luke 4:5-12 NIV) “The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. (6) And he said to him, ‘I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. (7) If you worship me, it will all be yours.' (8) Jesus answered, ‘It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.' (9) The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. ‘If you are the Son of God,' he said, ‘throw yourself down from here. (10) For it is written: ‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully; (11) they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'' (12) Jesus answered, ‘It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'”4.There is Always a Way Out(1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV) “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 5.Trust in God's Plan(Luke 4:13-14 NIV) “When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time. (14) Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.” 6.Empowered and Enlarged (James 1:2-4 TPT) “My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can! (3) For you know that when your faith is tested it stirs up in you the power of endurance. (4) And then as your endurance grows even stronger, it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking.”
Episode 30: Debunking Common Weight Loss Myths If you have known me for a while, you have probably heard me share about how my husband and I love to watch crime shows, particularly Criminal Minds (we've been watching the series since the world shut down in 2020 - life with a toddler, right?!). There is something so fascinating about watching them debunk certain theories and get down to the real truth of the matter. So I thought it would be fun to do that on the show - debunk some common weight loss myths and share the facts with you instead. There is SO MUCH misinformation floating around on the internet, and much of it has been proven that it doesn't work or has yet to be proven at all, so it's really understandable why you may get overwhelmed, frustrated, and ready to call it quits before you even get started. Let's take a few of these common myths and debunk them: once and for all. All calories are equal: All calories are indeed units of energy. That's what a calorie is. BUT this does not mean that all calorie sources have equal effects on your weight and weight loss. For example, calories from protein are different from calories from carbs or fats. Supplements will help you lose weight: The weight loss industry is completely saturated with juices cleanses, magic diet pills, fat burner pills, weight loss wraps, detoxes, and the list goes on and on and on. There are a few vitamins I do recommend to my clients, but as far as actual weight loss supplements go, very rarely will you find one that is truly effective. Carbs cause weight gain: Most of the food that God gave us that grows in a garden, on a tree, etc (beans, potatoes, fruit, grains, vegetables) are classified as carbohydrates. These types of carbs given to us by God are incredibly healthy and shouldn't be taken out of our diets. God gave them to us for a reason. Fat makes you fat: As with anything, eating fat in the proper portion is good for you: it's essential actually for optimal brain and heart health. Your body needs fat. Eat less, move more: You can only keep this up so long - it eventually gets too restrictive to maintain. It works initially, but soon your body's metabolic rate will slow down and your weight will begin to increase. These are the BIG ones I see when I talk to clients and potential clients. Weight loss doesn't have to be as complicated as it's made out to be - it can actually be really simple. If you'd like to have a conversation about how to make it simple for YOU, fill out the application on my site and let's have a conversation! Most of all, I want you to be well equipped on your health journey and know WHY you do the things you do. I hope you enjoyed this episode! Since this is the first episode of a brand new year, I thought it would be fun to dive into something on the forefront of most people's minds…new year's resolutions. Did you know that almost 50% of people who make resolutions on New Years want to lose weight? Making resolutions is easy, but keeping them is much harder. Typically 80% of new years resolutions fail within the first year with 20% of those being broken in January alone. So if you've made resolutions in the past only to break them within a few weeks…you are not alone. This is such a vicious and tiring cycle though, isn't it? There is nothing new about a new year if you continue to repeat the same methods over and over and over again. Nothing changes if nothing changes. And you HAVE to be committed to change to begin to see results. In order to actually keep your resolution this year and for years to come to achieve lasting weight loss, we have to discuss some of the reasons that weight loss resolutions typically fail: You aren't planning: The plan doesn't have to be hard - in fact, it shouldn't be. It should be something simple and sustainable that you can stick to daily! You aren't committed: Motivation is fleeting. Clearly define your “why” for doing this and find something that truly makes you committed to do the work. You don't have support: Without support, it's hard to gain momentum and keep the consistency going to follow through. You set unrealistic goals: When you set unrealistic goals, you set yourself up for failure and disappointment. You forget about grace: Everyone messes up. Don't beat yourself up - just acknowledge the situation, evaluate it, and get right back on track. Now that you understand why failure is so common, let's discuss how to actually keep your weight loss resolutions this year! You have to track: If you don't track, you don't have the data you need to evaluate to make the necessary changes. Make sure you are eating enough protein! You are doing your body a disservice, both healthwise and in how you want your body to look, by not eating enough protein. Eat more fiber. Fiber helps keep you full and it helps keep your blood sugar balanced. Limit added sugars. Don't be afraid of carbs. I did an entire podcast on why you shouldn't be afraid of carbs, so if you haven't already, please go back and listen to Episode 12: Carbs are not evil! Keep a journal: 99% of the time, the problem isn't actually the food, and until you find the real root of the problem, the behavior will continue. Hire a coach. And not just any coach, but a good coach. There is no one size fits all approach for everyone, and a good coach knows this. If you would like to explore what it would look like to work with a coach, I encourage you to watch my program video and fill out the application. Thank you for tuning in! Today I'm a guest on Rachel King's podcast Feed Yourself. We discuss how sports had a negative effect on my body image. “Historically, in terms of gender, I think we would we have seen higher numbers of females with the experience of disordered eating, eating disorders, and body image concerns and thoughts,” says Streno. For some perspective, roughly 80 percent of women in the U.S. reportedly are unhappy with the way they look, and 70 percent of ‘normal weight' women report that they want to be thinner. Even between the ages of three and six years old, half of girls worry about ‘being fat.' https://truesport.org/body-image/athletes-struggle-body-image/ Dance and Cheer Team weigh-ins made me really self-conscious of my body and weight. I have two girls and don't want to see them go through the same struggles. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Episode 137 - Adam Czeisler of Sweet Water! If you have never heard this band you missed out! Thankfully they are back together and making new music. They were very big in Seattle in the 90s. Their songs were all over radio, and they played shows with Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Candlebox, and Flaming Lips. Their second record “Superfriends” was produced by Dave Jerden (Alice in Chains, Jane's Addiction) and is criminally underrated. While the songs “Superstar” and “Feed Yourself” did get some national airplay, the whole record is phenomenal and still sounds great today. Adam tells me the whole story of the band, coming up in the 90s Seattle scene, and talks about the upcoming record and live shows! 0:00:00 - Intro0:01:35 - Church Choir 0:04:52 - Early Bands & Seattle Venues 0:12:00 - Mother Love Bone & Andrew Wood0:16:15 - Computers, Math & Music 0:18:30 - Adam Joins SGM & Recording Demos 0:24:30 - Layne Staley 0:27:00 - First Show With Mookie Blaylock 0:29:05 - Signed by Jason Flom of Atlantic Records 0:35:40 - First Self-Titled Album & Production 0:40:05 - "Superfriends" Album & Singles 0:49:36 - "Suicide" Album & Parc Boys 0:51:10 - Being in the Zone Onstage 0:53:35 - Touring & Shows With A.I.C.0:55:07 - Seattle Camaraderie & Candlebox 0:58:37 - Soundgarden & Chris Cornell1:00:55 - Screaming Trees & Green Apple Quickstep 1:01:39 - Break Up & Reformation 1:04:40 - "Firebird" EP & The Who 1:06:45 - New Record & New Songs & Recording 1:14:35 - Summer Festivals in Europe & U.S. Tour1:16:45 - MusiCares 1:17:30 - Website & Social Media 1:18:58 - Wrap Up Sweet Water website:https://www.sweetwaterrocks.comMusiCares website:https://www.grammy.com/musicaresChuck Shute website:http://chuckshute.comSupport the show (https://venmo.com/Chuck-Shute)

2018/10/21 Joshua O'Sullivan ジョシュア・オサリバン Categories: Video: https://yokohama.mylifehouse.com/tv/message/is-the-bible-gods-word Is The Bible God's Word? 聖書って神様のことば? Hebrews 4:12 (NIV) 12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Where Did The Bible Come From? 聖書はどこから来たのか? John 1:1-2 (NIV) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 2 Peter 1:16 (NIV) 16 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. Why Is It Important? なんでそんなに大事なのか? 1 John 2:3-6 (NIV) 3 We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. 4 Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. 5 But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: 6 Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. Matthew 24:35 (NIV) 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. マタイ 24:35(ALIVE訳) 35 やがてこの世は、天も地もひっくるめて滅びる。だが俺のコトバは永遠だ・・・!!!」 What Does It Mean For Me? 私にとってどんな意味がある? 1. Treat God’s Word as the 1st Option, Not the Last Resort 神様の言葉を最初の選択肢とする、最後の頼みの綱としてじゃなくて Matthew 4:4 (NIV) 4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” マタイ 4:4(ALIVE訳) 4 「“人は飯だけでは生きていけない。神の与える全てのことばによって生きる”と聖書にある」——【聖書:申命記8:3より引用】 2. Don’t Stay a Baby, Learn to Feed Yourself 赤ちゃんのままでいないで、自分で自分に食べさせることを覚える 1 Corinthians 3:2 (NIV) 2 I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. Proverbs 7:1-3 (NIV) 7 My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you. 2 Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. 3 Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart. 3. Keep It Simple & Write It Down シンプルのままに&書き留める Habakkuk 2:2 (NIV) 2 Then the Lord replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. ハバクク書 2:2 口語訳 2 主はわたしに答えて言われた、「この幻を書き、これを板の上に明らかにしるし、走りながらも、これを読みうるようにせよ。
