"If you think you're above whatever-taking out the proverbial trash or doing the proverbial dishes or the laundry, whatever-that's when a company is cooked." In this episode, Bogdan Knezevic shares his journey from undergrad in Calgary to winning a Rhodes Scholarship and pursuing a PhD at Oxford, reflecting on the personal motivations, cultural shifts, and tough choices that shaped his path-including stepping away from elite swimming and ultimately realizing academia wasn't for him. He opens up about the isolating yet magical environment of Oxford, the challenge of redefining his identity, and the gritty realities of working in early-stage biotech, emphasizing the importance of humility and hands-on work for startup founders. The conversation offers a candid look at how self-discovery, setbacks, and a willingness to “do the dishes” can shape a leader's growth in biotech.

This week we welcome recently retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria - The Hon. Elizabeth Hollingworth. Like so many of our guests, Liz is a high achiever from way back. At school and University she excelled academically, at sport and in leadership, which culminated in her receiving a Rhodes Scholarship to study a Bachelor of Civil Law, and row in the blue boat for Oxford. Interestingly, Liz did not feel particularly challenged or inspired by her commercial practice at the bar. It was when she came to the Supreme Court of Victoria that Liz found her true legal passion in the criminal division, presiding over many dynamic and high-profile cases. It was a privilege and a pleasure to hear Liz's frank and fascinating insights and experiences from her Life in the Law. www.greenslist.com.au/podcast

Douglas Grunther Talks About The Quantum & the Dream Our guest today is Douglas Grunther, whose deep spiritual seeking has been sparked with humor and informed by his love of philosophy and his deep study of psychology. Douglas is the creator and host of the Woodstock Roundtable, which is billed as a rollicking and multi award-winning-radio talk show spiced with the visionaries of our time. Douglas Grunther graduated from Columbia University, where he was a Rhodes Scholarship finalist. He has been a featured speaker for national audiences, and he is a dreamwork facilitator certified by Dr. Jeremy Taylor, who is Co-Founder of the International Association for the Study of Dreams. Douglas tells that the term “synchronicity” was created by Carl Jung, who described it as two or more events which clearly didn't cause one another, but are too meaningfully connected to be a mere coincidence. And his more poetic description of synchronicity is “a falling together in time.” He says, as we will see, that Jung collaborated with one of the most brilliant quantum physicists in the world; and together, they were convinced that synchronicities occur not just at the individual level, but at the deeper and more expansive level of a collective unconscious, one they are shared by all of humanity. He says in the preface to his book, The Quantum & The Dream: Visionary Consciousness, AI, and the New Renaissance that he will show us how this synchronicity generated two parallel, fascinating descents: one into the dark, creative center of the unconscious mind; the other into the dark, creative center of the sub-atomic quantum realm. And so, he says, “I invite you on a journey, Human Intelligence, Computer Intelligence, and the most influential of the three, Nature's Intelligence—are creating evolutionary change. Which will be A NEW RENAISSANCE” Douglas's website is www.douglasgrunther.com Learn more about Roberta here: http://robertagrimes.com https://seekreality.com

Radio talk show host Doug Grunther sharpens our human context--nature and AI. The Buddhist purchases a mandala, handing the clerk at $50 bill. As they wait for receiving the difference between the cost and the bill, the clerk does nothing. The Buddhist asks, "Where is the change?" The clerk says "Change comes from within." Technological advances often reflect aspects of the human body or mind. AI reflects the hyperfunctioning of our rational, logical, knowledge filled left hemisphere. Its remarkable information intelligence is forcing humanity to go where AI cannot--to the intuitive, empathic, cooperative and loving capacities of our right hemisphere. Nature is not a series of objects to be manipulated. Nature is analogical like our right brains. AI is encouraging our analogical thinking and feeling, connecting us to our hearts. It has been nearly two decades since a Vermonter won a coveted Rhodes Scholarship, widely considered the most prestigious scholarship in the world. The Rhodes Scholarship pays for international students to pursue postgraduate studies for up to three years at Oxford University in England. This week, Lena Ashooh of Shelburne was named a 2025 Rhodes Scholar. She is one of 32 Rhodes Scholars chosen from the U.S. from over 3,000 students who applied. According to the Rhodes Trust, Vermont has had 43 Rhodes Scholars since the first cohort in 1903. The last Rhodes Scholar from Vermont was named in 2006."It's so special to be named a Rhodes Scholar as a Vermonter," said Ashooh. "People have such a special attachment to Vermont, even if they're not from there, it occupies this really beautiful place in their mind. It's a place of respite and joy and progressivism."Lena Ashooh graduated from Champlain Valley Union High School in 2021. At CVU, Ashooh was active with 4-H and she founded Mi Vida, MiVoz (“my life, my voice”), a group that brought together the children of migrant farmworkers in Vermont with other youth to share stories and discuss how to make change. In 2020, she was named one of Vermont's top youth volunteers and was recognized with a national Prudential Spirit of Community Award.Ashooh is now a senior at Harvard. She is pursuing Harvard's first major in animal studies, an interdisciplinary program that she designed that combines philosophy, psychology, biology, and political science. She explained that animal studies is a way to study social injustice.“Looking at the ways that animals were mistreated or their freedom was being restricted also allowed us to attend to ways that people, and specifically vulnerable people, are also being mistreated, being subjected to exploitation or to disease and illness and pollution from farms,” said Ashooh. While in college, Ashooh has lobbied legislators on environmental justice, worked as an intern for Vermont Rep. Becca Balint, and has done research in Puerto Rico on macaque monkeys. She is co-president of Harvard College Animal Advocates and she also plays the classical harp. At Oxford, Ashooh plans to study animal ethics, and address the question: “What does it mean to respect an animal as an individual?”“My hope is that working on this question seriously as it pertains to animals might give us better philosophical concepts to be applied with humans as well. That can enable us to ensure that each person's individual value and the valuing of their contributions can be protected.”Ashooh will pursue a postgraduate degree in philosophy at Oxford and is considering attending law school. She leaves open the possibility of returning to Vermont. “I've always found Vermont to be a front runner in spearheading progressive ideas that might change the way the country is thinking … I think Vermont would be a very exciting place to return to to try out some progressive policies that might help us head down that path towards a brighter future.”

Because he has been dead for over a century, Cecil Rhodes doesn't get the credit he deserves for being a world-class psychopath and (actual) white supremacist, not the imagined ones that the Lunatic Left thinks are hiding behind every American flag. The aftershocks of his reign of terror in Africa are still being felt today in local politics and industry, and the diamond on your wedding ring was more than likely pulled from the ground in a South African mine that his company, DeBeers, owns to this very day. What most people associate with Cecil Rhodes is the highly respected Rhodes Scholarship which acts as a resume booster, but also as a stamp of approval for the Globalist crowd, showing that the person is on a different mission than most people believe. Once you understand the real mission and we identify the players, the plan becomes obvious to those with the eyes to see it. This is episode 3 of 6 in a Deep Dive Series on the Housing Innovation Alliance! If you hear any background noise, that's because this episode was recorded LIVE at the HIA Conference 2024 at the University of Denver! “So if I can summarize what we do, or what we're trying to aspire to do, is make offsite construction so easy a caveman could do it.” In this conversation, Devon Tilly chats with Garrett Moore of Agorus. In football, as in life, the most important person on the field is often the least noticed – the left tackle: he protects the quarterback's blind side.” As a quarterback at Stanford University, this simple lesson laid the early foundation for Garrett's servant-leadership philosophy: “It's the people you work with every day who determine your ability to make an impact”. After achieving a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford, and despite an early desire to jump right into a Silicon Valley start-up after graduation, Garrett's passion to serve led him to San Diego to become an officer in the Navy SEALs. During this time, he was also selected to become an Olmsted Scholar (similar to a Rhodes Scholarship). After learning Hebrew from scratch, he earned his master's degree in Cybersecurity at Tel Aviv University…in Hebrew! Living there in Startup Nation, he learned another critical lesson, “Never underestimate the power of a small group of committed people to change the world.” You might see two common denominators in these life shaping experiences – a love of high performing teams and fearlessness in the face of challenges. Garrett and his co-founder Kyle run headlong into the fray when most would hesitate. “If a problem is too hard for everyone else, it's probably just right for us”. And for that reason, he is wholly committed to solving America's elusive housing crisis. Garrett is married to his childhood sweetheart and loves to spend time with his family. It's no surprise that he's also an extreme sports guy, snowboarding, mountain biking and e-foiling whenever he can. By the way, don't ever get suckered into a ping pong game with him. It won't go well for you. This is the book NFL Hall of Famer Brett Favre DOES NOT want you to read. Shad White is the Mississippi state auditor who exposed Favre for his involvement in the diversion of millions of dollars in TANF money- money meant to aid the poorest people in the nation's poorest state-in order to build a deluxe volleyball facility at his college alma mater. But Favre was only part of a much larger coverup. Now, in MISSISSIPPI SWINDLE: Brett Favre and the Welfare Scandal that Shocked America (Steerforth Press; August 6, 2024), White tells the riveting story of how a small group of powerbrokers enriched themselves by misdirecting nearly $100 million in federal money, and how White led a scrappy team of investigators and auditors to bring the culprits to justice. White's office unmasks a sprawling conspiracy that stretches from Mississippi to Malibu and involves famous athletes, media personalities, and public officials. -more- Born and raised in Mississippi, White won a Rhodes Scholarship and earned a JD from Harvard. He returned to Mississippi and became the youngest state auditor in the country. Eleven months after his appointment, he received a tip that would lead his team to uncover the largest public fraud case in Mississippi history. At the scheme's heart was John Davis, the head of the state's Department of Human Services. Through the agency, Davis provided tens of millions of dollars of funding, meant to provide services for the state's poor, to organizations run by a woman named Nancy New. White discovered that Davis, New, and a cadre of family and friends collected that money to fund their lavish lifestyles that included a home, vacations, and luxury cars. White and his team also discovered the New family had spread money so widely around the community that it was in plenty of people's best interest to not question it. Charity after charity received TANF funds-from local high school bands and beauty pageants, to the Junior League of Jackson and sports booster clubs, to the millions of dollars for the volleyball facility, via Brett Favre's influence. MISSISSIPPI SWINDLE is a story of how power is acquired and maintained. For White, some of those in power sought to maintain it by pressuring him to "handle the case quietly." Favre himself dug in, issuing denial after denial, and later using his celebrity bullhorn and an army of lawyers in an unsuccessful bid to intimidate White and his family. It's also the story of the corrosive nature of fraud that's at the heart of Americans' loss of faith in their institutions. White offers the good news that the remedy resides with the people who can put a stop to that fraud and convince everyday Americans they are being treated fairly and their money is being protected.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.
