It's bye bye Bilbo, as Amazon Studios is packing up shop and moving production for series two of its multi-billion dollar Lord of the Rings series to the United Kingdom.   The government has taken back the extra incentive offer it signed with the tech-giant just a few months ago in response.  It has also dashed hopes the show would create thousands of jobs in the film industry here for many years to come.  Here's political reporter, Katie Scotcher.

NEWS HIGHLIGHTS THIS WEEK: NBC is considering rebooting "The Office" for the 2018 - 2019 TV season. TVLine says that the plan is for the show to remain at the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin, with a mixture of new and old cast members—though Steve Carell will not be involved, and the network is reportedly still searching for someone to play the new boss. Ian McKellen is insulted by the idea of someone else playing Gandalf in Amazon's "Lord of the Rings" TV series. According to the AV Club, he doesn’t specifically say that he wants to reprise his role on Amazon’s prequel, but he does note that he’s canonically still young enough to play Gandalf since the character is “over 7,000 years old.” NBC's next live musical event will be "Jesus Christ Superstar." Alice Cooper will play King Herrod and John Legend has just been cast as Jesus. The musical will air on April 1. We touched on all sorts of topics, such as Sofia the AI / the future of robotics, John's elevator mishap, what it means to be woke, as well as Amazon's Lord of the Rings announcement. We went on our usual share of tangents, many laughs were had and it actually turned into a rather intellectual conversation (for the most part!) In the heat of the moment we offhand mentioned Elon Musk having been raised in Ontario, want to set the record straight that while his mother was born in Canada, he only spent a couple of years here during university!

This week, it's a very special Thanksgiving episode – you can give thanks that we only went about half the time we usually do. But we cover Amazon's Lord of the Rings prequel series and a review of Netflix's The Punisher.
