In this week's episode, I'm joined by Amy Griffin for a deeply personal conversation about what it means to re-parent yourself—and how that inner work quietly transforms your parenting. We talk about the pressure to be perfect, the role of control and trust in family relationships, and how healing your own story can create more safety for your kids. Amy shares how telling the truth, setting boundaries, and staying in the light reshaped the way she shows up as a mother, partner, and person—and why parenting isn't about having the answers, but about doing the work with honesty and compassion.I WROTE MY FIRST BOOK! #82: Many moms expect their bodies to “bounce back” after having a baby…but months later, odds are they're still dealing with leaking, pressure, weakness, or discomfort and wondering if this is just how it's going to be forever? In this episode, I'm joined by Marcy Crouch, DPT, a board-certified women's health physical therapist and founder of The Down There Doc, to break down what postpartum core and pelvic floor recovery really looks like. We talk about what's normal, what's not, and how moms, including those thinking about future pregnancies can start healing their bodies with confidence, even if they're six months or more postpartum. Listen to this episode to learn: 1. What postpartum core and pelvic floor symptoms are common at six months after having a baby, and which ones are not something you should ignore. 2. How everyday tasks like feeding, lifting, and carrying your baby can affect your pelvic floor…and simple ways to reduce strain. 3. Why addressing pelvic floor health now can help you feel stronger, more comfortable, and better prepared for future pregnancies. It's Christmas Eve, and we've reached the final Hallmark Christmas movie of the year. We're closing out the season with The Christmas Baby.ABOUT THE CHRISTMAS BABYA couple receives a baby boy before Christmas with a note meant for them. While temporarily caring for him during the holiday rush, they navigate their relationship, careers, and the foster-to-adopt process.AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR THE CHRISTMAS BABYDecember 21 2025 | Hallmark ChannelCAST & CREW OF THE CHRISTMAS BABYKatherine Barrell as KellyAli Liebert as ErinBRAN'S THE CHRISTMAS BABY SYNOPSISErin is awakened early by the sound of her wife, Kelly, working on Christmas decorations in the living room. Kelly is designing elaborate Christmas set pieces for the theater, and she's so consumed by the project that they haven't even decorated their own house yet. That night, Kelly is set to receive an award at a theater ceremony. Erin is running late because she's finishing up at work. While getting changed at home, she hears someone enter the house. When she goes to check, she doesn't find a person — just a baby.Erin tries to track down the baby's parent, but no one is around. In the stroller, she finds a note addressed to Erin and Kelly, asking them to take care of a baby named Nicolas. The note says they're sorry and that they tried.Unsure what to do, Erin brings Nicolas with her to the event, arriving just in time to see Kelly win her award. Afterward, Kelly insists they call the authorities, which they do. Betty from DSS arrives to take Nicolas into care, but Erin immediately feels uneasy. The note clearly suggests the birth mother wanted Nicolas to be with them. Erin and Kelly talk to Betty, and Nicolas ends up going home with them. The next day, their theater friends come over and help brainstorm who Nicolas's parent might be. Soon after, both of their mothers arrive — uninvited — to “help.” The moms raise concerns about how Erin and Kelly's lives aren't exactly set up for a baby.Erin and Kelly try to adjust, but it's overwhelming. Kelly starts to doubt they should keep Nicolas and calls Betty to ask about another placement, despite Erin's reluctance. They argue, then make up the next morning, but Erin is still struggling. Kelly points out that kids aren't practical — and reminds Erin that before they got married, Erin said she didn't want children. Erin admits that Nicolas has awakened something in her she didn't know was there. The next day at work, Kelly mistakenly believes she's being asked whether she wants to adopt Nicolas — and she says yes. In that moment, she realizes her fear has been keeping her from what she truly wants. The couple gets Nicolas back and begins preparing their home for the official home study. On Christmas Eve, they learn that the birth mother has contacted Betty and wants to meet them. When Erin and Kelly arrive, they're shocked to discover it's the barista from the coffee shop they visit every week. She shares her story and formally asks Erin and Kelly to be Nicolas's parents. They say yes.The movie ends with Erin and Kelly celebrating Christmas with their family — and their new baby boy. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to running water is an ideal way to turn off all the stressful things life brings, and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds include a river, flowing creek, babbling brook, gentle waves on a lake, and a bamboo fountain. Rain also creates a natural white noise. Infused with the relaxing quality of nature and the sound-masking properties of white noise, listening to rain is an ideal way to switch off all the stressful things life brings and to de-stress. Some of our most popular sounds are rain on an umbrella, hailstorms, hard rain, soft rain, gentle rain, wind and rain, rain on a car.White noise helps babies and children to get a better and deeper night's sleep. This is because external sounds are masked by the noise. With white noise in the background, your child will not hear annoying cars driving by or dogs barking in bed. This allows your little one to sleep better. And it also saves you as a parent a lot of hours!Pink noise is more common in nature than you might expect. It can be compared to continuous rainfall or wind. In addition to white noise, pink noise is also increasing in popularity, especially in business environments. Because it can increase productivity, concentration and creativity.Brown noise can be compared to waves of the sea, a river current, strong winds or the sound of thunder during a storm. Like pink noise, brown noise is very similar to white noise. However, the frequencies have been lowered even further and a lot more concentrated. This gives it a rougher/coarse tone than pink noise. It sounds a bit deeper and a bit bass-like. The benefits of brown noise are the same as the other types of noise. It provides relaxation, increased focus and improved deep sleep.DISCLAIMER: Be aware that loud noises can damage your hearing. If you can't carry on a conversation without raising your voice while playing one of our spheres, the sound may be too loud for your ears. Do not place the speakers directly next to a baby's ears. If you have trouble hearing or ringing in your ears, stop listening to the white noise immediately and see an audiologist or your doctor. The sounds provided by ASMR Sleep Recordings are for entertainment purposes only and are not a treatment for sleep disorders or tinnitus. Consult your doctor if you regularly have severe sleeping problems, experience fitful/restless sleep or feel tired during the day.ASMR Sleep Recordings is the white noise and nature sounds podcast to help you sleep, study or soothe a baby. How many times have YOU recommended a movie to a friend or colleague and got a response the next day to the tune of "what the hell did you tell me to watch?! Why do you like this?!" There's nothing like showing a film you like that has a poor critical reputation, to your brother who has never seen it and hoping for the best. Did he like it? Yih, nah, you'll have to listen to find out. This week we tackled Arnie's End of Days, which plays sort of like Commando meets Rosemary's Baby, with a regularly randy Satan (surprising that when he pees later in the movie, he doesn't have to arch his back in a triangular shape...) a constantly screaming Robin Tunney who puts the "shut up dammit" in Damsel in Distress, Kevin Pollack with a character name out of a 70's cop show and Hector Salamanca in a wheelchair sans the bell. And, of course, Arnie making a smoothie out of old pizza from the floor. He didn't even wash it first. Animal. It's all here and more! What are you waiting for? Listen! “Don't Be a Baby” • Hebrews 5:11-14 – Elder Bryce Lowrance. The Apostle Paul gives another warning to the Hebrew Christians encouraging them to keep focused on Jesus Christ and their profession of Him. Part of that diligence includes studying the word of God and applying it to the way we think and live our lives. God intends for us to grow in grace and in our knowledge about Jesus Christ. Therefore, we ought not to be lethargic in our study of His word. Rather, we should be eager and devoted to learning more about Jesus so that we can shine as bright lights in this world so darkened by sin. This message was preached on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

In episode 1189, Daytime Confidential marks Season 19 with a special Reflections episode featuring Melodie Aikels. Melodie Aikels looks back on how she went from a teenage listener on a Guiding Light message board to a core member of the Daytime Confidential team. She talks about discovering the podcast in high school, setting iTunes alerts so she would never miss an episode, and what it felt like to be "the baby" among a group of veteran soap fans and journalists. She remembers breaking Guiding Light's cancellation story, covering So Long Springfield events, and how a last minute call from Jamey Giddens led to her very first flight: a Guiding Light media trip to Universal Studios that threw her into the deep end of the soap press pool. From red carpets and Emmys to Performer of the Week "checkboxes," Melodie explains how she found her voice as a critic while still fangirling over icons like Melody Thomas Scott, Eric Braeden and Lawrence Saint-Victor. Melodie also digs into how the genre has changed over the past 19 seasons: the loss of the New York soaps and the Broadway pipeline, the shift from slow burn storytelling to fast, condensed arcs, and the frustration of "telling not showing." She shares why Beyond the Gates gives her hope, why she will always defend Nikki Newman, and what it means to literally grow up on a podcast while the soap world reshapes itself around you. 00:00 – From Listener to "the Baby" of the Podcast Melodie remembers discovering Daytime Confidential in high school, listening on the way to and from school, and falling in love with the rants and top fives. 06:00 – Message Boards, Early Podcasts and Becoming DC Family Old school SoapNet and TWoP message boards, Luke and Lisa's early days, Jamey debuting as "Jay," and how different ages and perspectives shaped the show. 12:00 – Guiding Light, Mel's Guiding Gossip and Breaking a Cancellation Running a Guiding Light board, launching Mel's Guiding Gossip, and how a connection through Nikki led to writing for Daytime Confidential and later breaking the GL cancellation story. 18:00 – First Flight, Universal Studios and So Long Springfield Jamey's call that sent Mel on her first ever plane trip, Guiding Light's media shoot at Universal, meeting other soap press, and covering the So Long Springfield events with Mike. 24:00 – Red Carpets, Emmys and Seeing Legends Up Close Why red carpets feel like a circus, building rapport with actors, and the surreal experience of interviewing people she grew up watching, from Melody Thomas Scott to Eric Braeden and Lawrence Saint-Victor. 31:00 – Top Fives, Checkboxes and DC's Running Jokes Favorite top five episodes, Performer of the Week "checkbox" hall of fame, awkward Guiding Light moments, and the inside jokes that became part of DC's language. 39:00 – How Soaps Have Changed: Speed, New York and Lost Pipelines The last great era of mid-2000s soaps, losing the New York shows, what the Broadway pipeline meant for performance, and how faster pacing has cost the genre key emotional beats. 49:00 – Beyond the Gates, Bread and Butter Actors and Soap Optimism Why Beyond the Gates makes her hopeful, the importance of a predominantly Black cast, and the renewed focus on veterans like Jane Elliott, Susan Seaforth Hayes and Melody Thomas Scott. 56:00 – Rewrites, "Tell, Not Show" and What Still Drives Her Crazy The problems with rewriting on-screen history, off-screen "tell" instead of "show," and why the genre has to get smarter about how it uses limited time and budgets. 1:04:00 – Growing Up on the Podcast and Meeting DC Listeners Melodie reflects on literally growing up on DC, building real friendships online, being recognized by voice at plays and fan events, and why she still finds joy in doing the work. Do yourself a favor before reading any more of this: Listen to the Road To Joy now! What if the spark that powers great rituals, great sermons, and great shows is the same playful force? Captain Frodo sits down with Clay Hillman to follow that thread—from the shaman's circle to the market square—and ask how joy, surprise, and sacrifice can teach us to love without the cage of judgment. The claim is bold: ritual likely grew out of play, and when we honor that, truth arrives with fewer words and more presence. We explore grief as the felt weight of love, the paradox at the heart of Good Friday, and why beauty includes the costly and the raw. Clay reframes the Good Samaritan so we stop imagining ourselves as the rescuer and recognize our place in the ditch; neighbor becomes the person we'd want to lift us, even an enemy. That shift replaces right-versus-wrong scorekeeping with a practice of attention, the same practice that makes a show land when a moment of surprise cracks the shell and breathes. Along the way, we talk mythic truth over literalism, how children signal play and still know what matters, and why wigs, robes, and ritual dances appear when stakes are highest. We also swap creative maps. Clay's Casey Bonkers universe offers constellations of play; Frodo sketches thinking, feeling, and willing as a triad for building fuller acts. Symbols do the heavy lifting: two sticks can hold a cosmos, a market square becomes a universe once the showman starts. Stories that aren't “real” still become true every day, and the best work often feels discovered rather than made. If you've ever sensed that ministry and showmanship share a calling—curating time and attention so people glimpse the center—this conversation will feel like finding language for what you already knew.Listen to K. C. Bonkers Road To Joy! Find Clay Hillman here!If this resonates, subscribe, share it with a friend who loves story and craft, and leave a review so others can find the show. The true Christmas story is far more powerful—and far more personal—than the version we often see wrapped in sentiment and tradition. Through Luke 2, Pastor Greg looks at how Christmas has been romanticized and even sidelined, yet the real story remains explosive: God stepped out of Heaven and into human history. Notes: Taking Christmas Back Luke 2 The real Christmas story is explosive. That’s because the gospel is the power of God unto salvation. Christmas has been hijacked. Christmas has been emptied of its meaning. Portland, Oregon just had its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony. Christmas has perhaps been far too romanticized even by well-meaning Christians. The beauty of the true Christmas story has explosive power. The night when God Himself came to this earth. The first Christmas is when God stepped out of Heaven and entered history. Mary was living in Nazareth, a town known for its wickedness. Mary was a nobody in a nothing town in the middle of nowhere. The angel Gabriel had announced to Mary that she would be the mother of the Messiah. Luke 1:28–30 (NLT) Gabriel appeared to her and said, "Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!" Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. "Don't be afraid, Mary," the angel told her, "for you have found favor with God! Read Luke 2:1–7 Joseph is the unsung hero of the Christmas story. God’s selection of Joseph was just as significant as His selection of Mary. God, the Father in Heaven, chose Joseph to be a stepfather or father figure on earth for Jesus. Jesus grew up in many ways like any other child. We are in danger of becoming a fatherless society in America. That’s why Joseph matters. Hearing that Mary was pregnant, Joseph was willing to simply “put her away quietly,” to break the engagement. But the angel of the Lord came to Joseph, too. Matthew 1:20–21 (NKJV) But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins." Luke is very meticulous in his reporting. Luke was not an eyewitness to the life of Jesus. He carefully researched and had first-person interviews with the principal characters of the story. It was his desire to bring a historical and accurate record of the life of Jesus. These are not fairy tales or legends Luke invented. Luke 1:3 Caesar Augustus was the first real Roman emperor. His real name was Caius Octavius. The Roman Republic was now the Roman Empire. One inscription that was found called Augustus Caesar “the savior of the whole world.” Luke 2:11–12 (NKJV) "For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger." The angel was saying, “Augustus is not the savior of Rome, Jesus is.” In a time when man wanted to be God, God became a man. God incarnate born on the dirt floor of a filthy cave. God became a fetus. Deity in diapers. Babies are so amazing and so helpless. You have to cradle their heads. “It was clearly a leap down— as if the Son of God rose from his splendor, stood poised on the rim of the universe irradiating light, and dove headlong, speeding through the stars over the Milky Way to earth’s galaxy . . . where he plunged into a huddle of animals. Nothing could be lower.” — R. Kent Hughes This symbolized Jesus’s whole life on this earth, from the cradle to the cross. 2 Corinthians 8:9 (NKJV) For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. Luke 2:7 (NKJV) And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. That phrase became emblematic of Jesus’s life and ministry on earth. Christ said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions.” We didn’t have any room for Him, but He has many rooms for us. We effectively lose Jesus at Christmas. We say things like, “I would like to go to church, but I’m just too busy.” When Mary and Joseph got back home, they realized Jesus was gone. This can happen to us, too. Not that we lose our salvation, but we can lose sight of Jesus. It’s not about Christmas presents but His Christmas presence. The message of Christmas is, “let us worship.” We need a savior because we are sinners. — Become a Harvest Partner today and join us in knowing God and making Him known through media and large-scale evangelism, our mission of over 30 years.
