Long Covid is on the rise, yet most people are still left struggling to recover. Is it even possible??In this week's episode, Evie and Toréa had the opportunity to interview Halina Kowalski to dive into the details of how she recovered from Long Covid! Listen in on this unique approach that Halina used to put her symptoms into remission. Her background as a mental health clinical researcher primed her ability to research and discover the latest scientists and doctors looking at Long Covid. Discover her unique trifecta approach combining precision medicine, functional medicine and the use of contrast therapy to resolve her long illness.Let's begin! About Halina KowalskiHalina Kowalski is a mental health professional & clinical researcher with an insatiable thirst for learning ancient healing methods and practices from all cultures and peoples. Her studies led me down a path and quest to learn the traditional healing methods of her own Latvian ancestry. She discovered, by no coincidence, she had already been deeply drawn to the Latvian-Baltic tradition of sauna (pirts) that incorporates wild foraged plants and herbs into the heat and steam ritual of sacred mind/body/spirit healing. Her role as a researcher allowed her to piece together a combination of precision medicine, functional medicine and these ancient healing practices to place her own long covid into remission.Timestamps00:00 Overcoming Long Covid with a Trifecta Approach05:43 Helina's Long Covid journey13:15 incellDx by Dr. Bruce Patterson15:38 The Immune Signature of Long-Haul Covid17:25 The Theory on Spike Protein17:55 Monocytes that evade senolysis (cell death) 23:17 Telemedicine with covidlonghaulers.com26:25 Incorporating functional medicine into the healing process31:24 Effects of Cold Exposure against Covid-1937:47 Where to find Helina and gathersaunahouse.comResources MentionedDr Bruce Patterson https://www.ifm.org/about/profile/bruce-patterson-md/incellDx https://incelldx.com/Covid Long Haulers https://www.covidlonghaulers.com/homeMaraviroc and Long Covid https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9944830/Connect with Halina @ Gather Website: https://www.gathersaunahouse.com/Instagram: https://instagram.com/gather_saunahouseConnect with ToréaWebsite: https://www.torearodriguez.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/torearodriguez/Connect with EvieWebsite: https://holisticallyrestored.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/holisticallyrestored/Join the Optimized Wellness Community:...

I suffered as a covid long hauler for almost 2 years. It impacted my life severely. I was not able to work or do much at all, and left me with lung damage, panic attacks, and severely low energy levels. At the end of 2021 I was still not doing well. My lungs had leveled off at about 60%, I had very little energy and was really limited to what I could do each day. It felt at that point that this may be my new normal but I was committed to try everything I could to get my health, lungs, and immune system functioning well again. It was my goal in 2022 to get my health back and I am so happy to share that I have for the most part I have achieved that goal thanks to the help of many incredible guests I have had on the Discovering True Health. For many people that have experienced long Covid, they have had to deal with not only prolonged symptoms, but the hassle of trying to fight for disability benefits. We still understand very little about long Covid and how severe the effects are can be difficult to measure. Insurers demand that there be evidence that a person cannot work, and some medical tests may not clearly show an impairment leading to denials of benefits. Christopher Rowland, business of health reporter at The Washington Post, joins us for the fight for disability payments. Join me for episode 45 where we talk with my client, Rachael Royce from Leicester, England, about her experience with the online, self-paced MAP for COVID program and the improvements she saw in her symptoms and her emotional and mental outlook after 4 weeks. The MAP Method, for those of you who are not familiar, is an advanced method of neural retraining. A note about this program: I developed it for COVID long-haulers because I had seen research about how anti-anxiety medications were being used to lessen the severity and duration of COVID-19 symptoms. I immediately realized that if anxiety was related to symptom severity, that we could use neural retraining to accomplish the same effect. Listen until the end to hear why she feels it is a better approach than the others she had tried. In this episode we discuss: - How Rachael learned about the MAP Method. - How Rachael had used MAP sessions in the past to resolve anxiety and fears. - Her long-standing COVID symptoms, including fatigue, headache, dizziness, irritable bowel and distorted/diminished sense of smell and taste. - All the methods she tried to resolve her COVID symptoms: specialists, supplements, reflexology, acupuncture, Reiki and more. - The changes she noticed as she moved through each week of the program. - Why she calls the program a “turning point” in her recovery from COVID. - The “big improvement” she experienced with her senses of taste and smell after 4 weeks of doing the program. - The pros and cons of live MAP sessions vs. the recorded sessions in the program. - The benefits of neural retraining over taking medications and why she recommends the program to others. Don't miss episode 29 where the founder of the MAP Method™ of advanced neural retraining talks about the origins of the method, the research behind it and the applications. You might hear it referred to as “Long COVID” or “Post-COVID Syndrome” and the people who have it, “Long Haulers.” Johns Hopkins Medicine describes it as, “lingering health problems” people who were diagnosed with COVID-19 have, “even when they have recovered from the acute phase of the illness.” Some of them may have been hospitalized with COVID, while others had mild cases, but what these 10-30% of COVID survivors have in common now may be breathing issues, heart problems, kidney damage, gastrointestinal upset, lost or distorted senses of smell or taste, trouble with circulation, neurological effects and/or mental health disorders. However, there has been an optimistic report from Yale where Akiko Iwasaki has been studying the effect the COVID vaccine has on people with post-COVID syndrome: As many as 30 to 40% of those who get the vaccine have reported improvements to their symptoms. She has heard from people who say they no longer have ‘brain fog,', or stopped suffering from

Marie: From Minnesota Native News… this is a COVID-19 Daily Update.MARIE: I’m Marie Rock. MARIE: COVID is the ultimate puzzle. Some people never experience symptoms and have no clue they’ve been infected. Others get sick and never seem to get back to their healthy normal.People in that second category are long haulers. They experience what’s called “long COVID.” This is when they recover from the initial infection but then suffer through months of chronic post-COVID symptoms. Horrible fatigue. Brain fog. Shortness of breath. Chest pain. Gastrointestinal problems.Health experts predict 10 to 30 percent of cases will transition into long COVID.Because the disease hasn’t even been with us two years yet, the health community can’t say for certain—yet—how long… “long COVID” might last. Recently, a new twist has been added to the mystery of long COVID. Some long haulers are reporting feeling better after getting the vaccine. Is this wishful thinking?Health experts point out that some COVID effects—like damage to the heart—cannot be reversed by a vaccine. Yet, if long haulers are experiencing a lessening of symptoms after their shot—this could indicate that with some patients the virus never left them. It was circulating in their systems—until the vaccine cleared it out.As with much to do with this virus, the impact of the vaccine on long COVID will remain a mystery until more study can be devoted to it.For MN Native News…. Tonight I spoke about a syndrome called COVID-19 Long Haulers. Some people get over the infection and get back to normal. Others, like myself, acquire a syndrome where we get flareups and/or continual and residual side effects that can go on for months. I told the story about how we got COVID back in January of 2020 and I had it again in June of that same year. I went on to talk about the Long Haulers, how it ruins your life, how it creates a stigma between us and doctors, employers and other people and I ask the question if it will ever be recognized as a medical condition (as a diagnosis) so that we can benefit from some well needed financial help and disability benefits.

In this Episode 55 I was reminded of Episode 44 where I discussed the impact sexual abuse can have on our body and impact all relationships with Brooke Terrell. I remember briefly discussing the negative impact I had found abuse had on being part of many women's history when suffering from gynecological diseases and chronic pain. This week's conversation with Tsao-Lin Moy secures my theory of how very important the pelvic and abdominal bowl's energy is as we get into the impact she is seeing from Covid-19. Tsao is the author of "Will I Ever Get Pregnant, the Smart Woman’s Guide to Get Pregnant Naturally Over 40" and has been featured on numerous radio and TV shows including Dr. Oz , The List and as a guest in The Author Incubator with former Presidential Candidate/ Spiritual lecturer Marianne Williamson. In this episode of Owning HER Health we get into her story about being the daughter of a Western Medicine physician actually turned her off initially from a career in healing but as many an Owning HER Health episode goes... Life quickly brought her back to her roots in a slightly different way than anyone would have planned. Listen in as we discuss : What her biggest reason she decided to focus on Chinese Medicine instead of Western healing was How NYC Metro area Covid Long Haulers are using her Acupuncture and Herbs to progress post Covid wellbeing The ways to use acupuncture and various natural healing modalities to re-ignite the meridians of the body and how she is combining the power of several techniques to shift patients beyond the effect of all the stress. What the pandemic is influencing in the already labored social ability to conceive. The meridians that are most impacted by the PTSD she is seeing Where she is finding Fertility needs to be BEFORE IVF and during attempts to conceive How consciousness plays a HUGE roll in both partner's fertility Where she is seeing integrative work moving. We discuss the growing desire by both practitioners and the public for more and more plant based medicine of the indigenous and Eastern minded care providers. Summary and Next Steps Tsao-Lin Moy L.Ac., MSOM is a Natural Fertility Expert trained in East Asian medicine who helps couples conceive naturally using her fertility protocols and Chinese medicine. She is the founder of Integrative Healing Arts in NYC which utilizes acupuncture, herbal medicine and energy healing to treat patients. Tsao honors Energy work and care paths that support the innate wisdom of the body and mind. As you often hear me say, we are beginning to taking up space as a compliment and alternative approach to most of the West's ill health. Tsao and I had so much to speak of that we decided to move into co Moderating conversations onto ClubHouse so stay tuned for women's health and consciousness collaborations in the future. Dr. Ramchandani discusses the difference between a variant and a mutation, the efficacy of the COVID-19 vaccine on these variants, and COVID-19 as well as what COVID-19 long haulers experience. Its sobering to know that 500,000 people have died from COVID-19. Thats more than all the recent wars that the US has fought including WWII.
Americans are not very healthy, which is why over seventy percent of adults have one and often two chronic illnesses. Poor nutrition is the number one problem and this is the reason why we have one of the highest COVIC-19 infection rates in the world.Americans are not very healthy, which is why over seventy percent of adults have one and often two chronic illnesses. Poor nutrition is the number one problem and this is the reason why we have one of the highest COVIC-19 infection rates in the world. This is further proof of the findings from the studies done by the University of North Carolina and Stanford University Medical School. The strength of our immune system is directly related to this COVID-19 pandemic, and this is the best place to begin an examination on how each person can begin to improve their own immune system. Today Dr. Bens & Aubrey talk about the latest in COVID research, mutations, what we are seeing develop in those "long haulers," and immune system health & functionality. You can find Aubrey on her website, LinkedIn, or InstagramAnd you can find Dr. Bens on his website

Testing positive for COVID-19 is a scary thought for most Americans. From the barrage of information on what to do next to the act of isolating in a separate room, the pandemic has changed the way people live that would have been inconceivable just a year before. While there are effective vaccines available, there are still many questions lingering about COVID-19 that has puzzled the medical community. One area under the microscope is people who are experiencing ‘Long COVID' or ‘COVID Long Haulers.' These are the individuals who continue to experience COVID-19 symptoms — sometimes debilitating — for weeks to months on end. In this episode, Dr. Jennie Johnson joins our podcast hosts to share what the medical community knows about Long COVID, the frequency of this condition, and its similarities to other diseases that lead to post infectious syndrome. Dr. Johnson is an infectious disease physician and an assistant professor of medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. A specialist in vector borne diseases, Dr. Johnson is also the Associate Medical Director at Lifespan's Infectious Diseases and Immunology Center.Join us for another exciting and informative episode with Dr. Jim McDonald and Dr. Philip Chan as they dig deep into some of the most common questions surrounding COVID long haulers.
