In this interview, we sit down with Charles from Lamspeed to explore what it takes to turn Toyota's GR Yaris into a record-breaking machine, using a surprising amount of standard parts! The team currently holds the title for the world's fastest GR Yaris, with a 9.6-second quarter-mile at 155 mph at the time of filming and a 9.4-second pass since then, resetting their own record. A ported head and supporting mods added around 180hp along with head studs custom-produced by ARP to address head-sealing issues early in development, a critical factor for reliability under high boost.Transmission upgrades include a Kotouč 7-speed sequential gearbox for drag racing reliability and previously tested options from Drenth. With Lamspeed's detailed and iterative approach, every part and upgrade has been meticulously selected and tested to push the limits of the GR Yaris platform without compromising performance.

ALPINE A110R: mi nuevo favorito Frente a aquellos que opinan la famosa frase "burro grande ande o no ande"; Renault/Alpine nos propone una formula que, de inicio, parece no fallar (motor no necesariamente grande, poco peso y evocar las sensaciones de conducción más primarias). Lo hemos visto en exitos como el GR Yaris, la continua apuesta de Mazda con su mítico MX5 o Nissan con su 370Z... Alpine no podía ser menos y en su resurgir rescató la filosofía de su clásico A110 y creó sobre esta plataforma de deportivo biplaza y tracción trasera un coche especial que disfrutarás, y mucho, conduciendo. Pero es entonces cuando la división deportiva de la marca francesa quiere ir más allá y radicalizar su modelo más potente (el A110S) bajándolo unos mm, colocando un alerón trasero, lip, taloneras y llantas en fibra de carbono y adecuando el interior a la radicalidad del coche. Nace así unos de mis coches favoritos: el Alpine A110R. Contamos en esta nueva fórmula con un motor 4 cilindros, 1.8 de 300cv heredado del megan RS, el cual va situado en posición central trasero sobre un chasis ultra aligerado gracias a la utilización de numerosos componentes en Fibra de Carbono. A esa combinación perfecta de potencia y poco peso hay que agregarle dos ingredientes más: una caja de cambios de doble embrague que hace que subir y bajar de marcha se convierta en tu pasatiempo favorito y una dirección ultra precisa. En fin, me ha encantado este coche, este KART para mayores y ahora como me gusta hacer lanzo una pregunta a la mesa... ¿Burro grande ande o no ande? "Antiguamente los pilotos eran gordos y las ruedas delgadas" - Jose Froilan González Así es, el argentino, campeón de las 24 horas de Le Mans de 1954 tenía esta aprticular opinión sobre el motorsport de antaño. Y lo cierto es que si vemos el monoplaza con el que ganó Le Mans (Ferrari 375 Plus) y ponemos una foto suya al lado, Jose Froilan no se equivocaba... Este gran piloto muchas veces eclipsado por los éxitos de su compatriota Juan Manuel fangio, tenía un humor y un carácter particulares. Quizá, y aquí me aventuro, fue loq ue encandilase a Il Commendatore de este piloto (a parte por supuesto de sus prodigiosas manos). Unas manos que le llevaron a conseguir la primera victoria de Ferrari en F1. Un hito que marcó la historia de Froilán González. El hecho, tuvo lugar el 14 de julio de 1951 en el Gran Premio de Gran Bretaña corrido en el Circuito de Silverstone. Allí, Froilán conseguiría derrotar a las hasta ahí imbatibles "Alfettas" del equipo Alfa Romeo, capitaneadas por el compatriota de Froilán, Juan Manuel Fangio. Esta victoria, le significó a Froilán mantener el vínculo con la casa italiana en los siguientes campeonatos para los próximos cuatro años. Lograba así otro hito, fue el único piloto que pudo arrancarle lágrimas a Ferrari con una victoria. “El deseo de Ferrari de ganarle a las Alfettas era mitológico. De esas máquinas se decía que eran imbatibles y la historia así lo venía demostrando. No perdían una carrera desde Trípoli, antes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial”, explicó el argentino en una entrevista. Puede que fuera una persona en baja forma sobre unas delgadas ruedas pero pasó a la historia como una leyenda del motorsport demostrándonos que todo en esta vida es posible... Mai bis 2. Juni 2024 dauert, bietet der japanische Autohersteller ein buntes Rahmenprogramm. Zudem treten drei Toyota Fahrzeuge beim Rennen an und kämpfen um Punkte und Siege in unterschiedlichen Klassen.Auf der wohl härtesten Rennstrecke der Welt müssen enge Kurven und Kehren, Höhenunterschiede von 300 Metern sowie das berühmt-berüchtigte Eifel-Wetter bewältigt werden – und das 24 Stunden lang, bei Tag und Nacht.Beim Rennen selbst starten drei Fahrzeuge des Herstellers. Dazu zählen ein GR Supra GT4 EVO in den Farben des eFuel Team Griesemann sowie zwei weitere GR Supra GT4 EVO, die von Toyo Tires with Ring Racing betreut werden und in der Klasse SP10 an den Start gehen. Es soll sparsam sein, sportlich, gut aussehend, ideal auch in der Stadt zu nutzen und außerdem auch noch bezahlbar?  Dann sollten Sie sich mal den Toyota Yaris Hybrid GR Sport anschauen. Wir haben das schon mal für Sie getan! Darum geht es diesmal!Ausnahmsweise habe ich für Sie zum Beginn unserer aktuellen Fahrzeugvorstellung eine Bemerkung. Wir sprechen heute über den Toyota Yaris Hybrid GR Sport. Der ist nicht identisch mit dem GR Yaris, wobei das GR zwar in beiden Fällen für Gazoo Racing steht, die Leistungsausbeute ist aber unterschiedlich. Während der GR Yaris ein reinrassiges Sportfahrzeug ist, ist der Yaris Hybrid GR Sport eine zivilere Ausführung. Im Übrigen ist der GR Yaris aktuell auch ausverkauft! Das Outfit! Die Namensähnlichkeit zum GR Yaris ist allerdings berechtigt, denn die Motorsport-DNA des Yaris GR Sport ist sofort zu erkennen. Dafür sorgen der markante Kühlergrill, der Diffusor am Heck, die 18-Zoll-Leichtmetallfelgen mit roten Zierlinien und die exklusive Dynamic Grey Lackierung. Power und Drive!    Den Yaris GR Sport gibt es aktuell mit zwei Motorisierungen. Zum einen mit einem 1,5-l-VVT-i Benziner mit 92 kW (125 PS), zum anderen als Hybrid mit einer Systemleistung von 85 kw (116 PS), die von einem 68 kW (92 PS) starken Benzinmotor und einem 59 kW (80 PS) starken Elektromotor erzeugt werden. Diese Variante mit serienmäßigem stufenlosen Automatikgetriebe haben wir getestet.  Der Wagen ist mit dieser Antriebskonfiguration 175 Kilometer schnell, er beschleunigt in 9,7 Sekunden von 0 auf 100 km/h. Der Verbrauch auf 100 Kilometer liegt kombiniert bei  4,9 Litern nach WLTP-Norm. Die Innenausstattung!Schaut man sich beim Toyota Yaris Hybrid GR Sport die Standardausstattung an, dann vermisst man nicht viel. Dinge wie das Smart-Key-System zum schlüssellosen Öffnen und Schließen des Fahrzeugs, die 2-Zonen Klimaautomatik, das 4,2" Multi-Info-Farbdisplay und die Sitzheizung für Fahrer und Beifahrer sind ebenso vorhanden wie das Multimedia – Audiosystem. Toyota Touch®, Myt Connected Services mit Parkpositionsfinder, Routenplanung, Inspektionserinnerung etc. und die Smartphone Integration von Apple CarPlay und Android Auto sind nur einige von vielen Features, die der GR Sport serienmäßig mitbringt. Die Kosten!Den Yaris als solchen bekommt man bereits ab 17.800,00 €, beim GR Sport geht es mit 25.940,00 € für den Benziner los, die Hybridversion kostet ab 28.840,00 €. This latest move came to light as the British firm moves to raise more cash through offering more shares for sale. On today's tale of two Toyotas, Jason and Derek discuss their parallel experiences driving two angry and estranged hot-hatch siblings: the GR Yaris and the GR Corolla. Jason unpacks a recent drive in the US-bound Corolla variant, while Derek discusses his go in the rest-of-world Yaris while in Europe. Despite its menacing looks, Jason highlights that the GR Corolla is overall more tame, forgiving, and subsequently competent than expected. It's difficult to slide in the dry and less shouty and on-edge when going about its business unlike the Fiat 500 Abarth and Hyundai Veloster N. The triple-cylinder power plant is often restrained- a muffler chop might help! But how is the Yaris in comparison? Derek aligns- it's much the same, but with a bit less power and perhaps a bit more eager to rotate- understandably so with 300 fewer pounds to carry around. This leads to the discussion of modifying cars and kicking failure down the road- an advisory that in most cases, you're probably just better leaving it stock. Europäische Automobilkunden sind nicht leicht zufriedenzustellen. Das mussten schon viele Automobilhersteller erfahren, die ihre Autos fernab unseres Kontinents entwickelt haben und richtig danebenlagen, was die Wünsche europäischer Kunden anging. So etwas passiert Toyota nicht. Do wurde der Yaris Cross vollständig in Europa entwickelt und von Beginn an speziell auf die Bedürfnisse europäischer Kunden abgestimmt. Das Ergebnis ist gelungen.Darum geht es diesmal!Seit einiger Zeit gelingt es Toyota, von erfolgreichen Modellen sehr unterschiedliche Ableitungen zu entwickeln und gut im Markt zu platzieren. Beispiel: Der Yaris. Den gibt es als Yaris, GR Yaris und Yaris Cross. Wir schauen uns den Letztgenannten heute mal näher an. Das Outfit!Der Yaris Cross wurde im europäischen Designzentrum ED2 in Südfrankreich konzipiert, vom Band läuft er bei Toyota Motor Manufactoring France im Werk Valenciennes, wo parallel auf derselben Fertigungslinie Yaris und Yaris Cross gebaut werden können. Zwei Kühleröffnungen bilden übereinander liegende Trapezformen – das Erkennungsmerkmal aller SUV-Modelle von Toyota.  Power und Drive!    Hybridantrieb ist das Stichwort in Sachen Motorisierung. Toyota hat dem Yaris Cross die vierte Generation seiner Hybridtechnologie spendiert. Der Motor hat drei Zylinder und 1,5 Liter Hubraum, die Systemleistung beträgt 116 PS/85 kW. Mit einem Verbrauch von 4,5 – 5,1 l/100 km und CO2-Emissionen von 100 – 116 g/km - nach WLTP kombiniert und unterschieden nach Allrad- und Frontantrieb -  kann man sicherlich gut leben. Gut leben kann man als schaltfauler Fahrer auch mit dem serienmäßigen e-CVT-Getriebe. Zum guten Ton gehören natürlich Assistenzsysteme, zu denen eine lenkunterstützte elektronische Stabilitätskontrolle, die mit ABS, VSC und Traktionskontrolle zusammenarbeitet, sowie eine elektrisch unterstützte Lenkung zählen. Letztere sorgt für die präzise und sichere Umsetzung der Lenkbefehle. Bei den Modellen mit AWD-i umfasst das System auch eine aktive Drehmomentkontrolle. Außerdem serienmäßig sind der aktive Kurvenassistent und eine elektronische Parkbremse mit an Bord. Die Allradmodelle verfügen zusätzlich über die Bergabfahrkontrolle und den Trail Mode.  Die Kosten!Den neuen Yaris gibt es ab 23.290,00 €. Im Vergleich zu einem „normalen“ Yaris, den es ab 16.650,00 € gibt, wirkt dies im ersten Moment deutlich höher, aber man darf auch keine Äpfel mit Birnen vergleichen, sondern muss auf einer Ebene bleiben. Vergleicht man die Motorisierungen und die Ausstattungen, passt es nämlich wieder. Wer übrigens die Allradversion haben möchte, der muss mit dem Yaris Cross Comfort einsteigen. Der zweite Saisonlauf zur Rallye-Weltmeisterschaft (WRC) findet vom 25. bis 27. Februar rund um Umeå in Nordschweden statt. Im vergangenen Monat bei der Rallye Monte-Carlo erwies sich der GR Yaris mit Hybridantrieb bei seinem Debüt als zuverlässig und schnell und verpasste erst auf der vorletzten Etappe knapp den Sieg. In Schweden wird erstmals Esapekka Lappi ins Lenkrad greifen, der sich in dieser Saison das Cockpit mit Sébastien Ogier teilt. Kalle Rovanperä startet in Schweden als bestplatzierter Fahrer in der Gesamtwertung, nachdem er bei der Rallye Monte-Carlo Vierter wurde und die abschließende Power Stage gewann. Die Stadt Umeå, größte Stadt Nordschwedens, liegt näher am Polarkreis als an der Hauptstadt Stockholm, was für extreme Winterbedingungen sorgen dürfte. Alle Etappen sind neu für die WRC. Doch die Merkmale, die Schweden zu einer der beliebtesten und spektakulärsten Stationen im Kalender machen, bleiben erhalten. Spezielle Spikereifen krallen sich in die Fahrbahn und sorgen für Grip auf den von Schneewällen gesäumten Straßen, an die sich die Fahrer anlehnen, um schneller durch die Kurven zu kommen. Die Autos sind für den Einsatz auf losem Untergrund ausgelegt. Toyota Gazoo Racing hat sich in den vergangenen Wochen mit zwei Testtagen für jeden Fahrer auf Schnee und Eis vorbereitet: einem in Finnland und einem in Schweden. Darunter befindet sich auch die mit 27,81 Kilometern längste Prüfung der Rallye, Kamsjön. Alle drei Prüfungen werden am Nachmittag wiederholt, bevor eine kurze Sprint-Prüfung in Umeå selbst den Tag abschließt. So haben wir nicht nur den Yaris im kleinen B-Segment als Stadtauto neu auf den Markt gebracht – den Yaris Hybrid – und mit dem GR Yaris eine sportliche Variante an die Seite gestellt, sondern wir haben im September diesen Yaris, den Yaris Cross, sozusagen als aktuell kleinstes SUV von Toyota auf den Markt gebracht. Somit ist der Yaris Cross der Kleinste in einer SUV-Geschwisterreihe, zu der noch drei weitere „Familienmitglieder“ gehören!     Foto: Toyota Deutschland GmbH Thomas Heidbrink:    Das ist der C-HR, der damals den Anfang gemacht hat, er ist schon länger auf dem Markt, im Herbst letzten Jahres haben wir den RAV4 Plug-in ganz neu vorgestellt, der RAV4 ist auch nach wie vor am Markt, und in der ganz großen Kategorie, dem E-Segment, ist der Highlander zuhause, den wir seit Februar 2021 in Deutschland anbieten. Somit haben wir im B-, C-, D- und E-Segment, also in fast jedem Bereich, ein SUV mit Hybridmotor oder Plug-in Motor anzubieten. Wir nennen es in Anlehnung an unseren Kleinwagen jetzt Yaris Cross.Da stellt sich natürlich sofort die Frage nach dem Antrieb und die fällt Toyota-typisch aus.Thomas Heidbrink:   Der Yaris Cross ist mit Hybridantrieb ausgestattet – wie das bei uns tatsächlich üblich ist – auch der Yaris hat einen Hybridantrieb.
