Somewhere in the National Archives, there are 13 billion documents that belong to every American — and for most of our history, you had to get yourself to Washington, DC if you wanted to see them. In the third episode of our Unsung series, Kelly talks with historian and writer Sarah Vowell about Pamela Wright — a woman who grew up on a ranch in Conrad, Montana, became the Chief Innovation Officer of the National Archives, and spent her career making sure those records were available to everyone, not only those who could make the trek to DC. This conversation is a reminder that democracy is not just an idea — it's a practice, carried out every day by diligent, caring people, most of whom we'll never know.To connect with Kelly and get a list of her weekly takeaways, join Kelly's free Substack.Check out Sarah Vowell's essay in Who Is Government? This month, our "Deep Dive" is into some of our past episodes about screen time: the effects it has on our kids, how tech companies engineer their devices to be as addictive as possible, and how we can allow our kids to enjoy screens with supportive limits. How do we untangle ourselves from technology? We give ourselves a hard time for not being able to put our screens down, but the platforms we use are designed to be addictive. It's not our fault. Gaia Bernstein's new book: Unwired: Gaining Control Over Addictive Technologies shatters the illusion that we can control how much time we spend on our screens by the force of willpower, timers, or yelling. Margaret and Gaia discuss: The psychological forces that make us keep scrolling What Big Tech and Big Tobacco have in common Why screen time limiters and other similar methods don't work Here's where you can find Gaia: https://gaiabernstein.com/ Twitter: @BernsteinGaia Buy Gaia's book Unwired: https://bookshop.org/a/12099/9781009257930 We love the sponsors that make this show possible! Jacob takes a deep dive into remaining bell-cow RBs.
Dear readers, I've been a sceptic for too long. It's easy to be sceptical as a psychiatrist—the flowers will be lour'd upon you! I've been using Graymatter's Health PRISM EEG-fMRI neurofeedback system for a few years, it's true. There are EEG leads on there. I saw a lot of EEG-related technology in Beijing. It's possible I'm looking at an EEG in this very photo from my hotel room in China, below:But have I been measuring the brain with EEG regularly? Well, no, again! I've been content with my fancy fMRI scans alone, for SAINT, and giant brain healing magnets at set frequencies, like deep TMS with SWIFT.There are even videos of me talking about TMS, like this one below, with friends like Colleen Hanlon from BrainsWay, and heroic patients who chose to speak publicly, too.But one thing I haven't routinely done is measure the brain itself as part of clinical care, as companies like Firefly Neuroscience are making possible. That may need to change, is the outcome in my personal brain as a result of this interview. I speak, at length, with Dave Decaprio, their president and COO.The EVOKE system provides multimodal analysis of brain function, including Quantitative EEG and Event-Related Potentials. From the Firefly website:At Firefly Neuroscience, our technology is built to measure and interpret brain function in a clinically meaningful way. The Evoke™ system combines quantitative EEG (qEEG) and event-related potentials (ERP) to capture both baseline brain activity and cognitive response during structured tasks. This data is analyzed against a proprietary normative database of over 191,000 EEG and ERP sessions, allowing clinicians to evaluate patterns relative to age-matched expectations and track changes over time. The result is a structured, interpretable view of brain function that can be used alongside clinical evaluation to support earlier insight, more informed treatment decisions, and a clearer understanding of patient progress.I haven't used it in clinical practice yet, but Dave makes a compelling case, and at this point I think it's only a matter of time. Brain Medicine, as an emerging specialty, brings change. That change needs to be measured. EEG might be one such tool.I hope you enjoy today's podcast! And thanks to Sharena Rice, PhD, William M. Sauve, MD, along with Dave, for their guest spots.—OwenAnnouncements: * You can Join The Frontier Psychiatrists LIVE at Psych Congress 2026. Get your tickets now!* You can buy a copy of my IRL in print book on Amazon, Inessential Pharmacology. It's got a lot of good reviews, and one “one star” review, which, in the spirit of transparency, I will excerpt for you:The author has taken a collection of drug leaflets from pharmaceutical companies and woven them together with underwhelming lackluster commentary and memes. He intended to create an engaging reading experience, however, this aim should have been clearly stated, should have been made explicitly clear in the book description. He wanted to have fun writing it and wanted readers to have fun reading it. Now, having missed the return window, I find myself stuck with a book that feels more tedious than enjoyable.Don't miss the return window if you hate my work! Good advice for us all. Victoria is undertaking one of Australia's most ambitious electricity transitions. The state is aiming for 65% renewable electricity by 2030 and 95% by 2035, replacing ageing coal-fired power stations with renewable electricity, batteries and offshore wind while keeping the lights on and consumers' bills down. This week on Cleaning Up's Deep Dive Australia, Michael Liebreich is joined by Lily D'Ambrosio, Victoria's Minister for Climate Action, Energy and the State Electricity Commission, who has overseen the state's energy transition for more than a decade. Together Minister D'Ambrosio and Michael examine the policies driving the transition, from renewable energy auctions and large-scale batteries, to offshore wind and transmission planning. Michael also challenges the Minister on some of the most controversial aspects of Victoria's strategy, including unpublished modelling, coal closure agreements, and the politics of moving households away from gas. Topics: Victoria's energy transition and the role of state governments Replacing coal with renewables Batteries, electricity markets and falling wholesale prices Coal plant closures and investor certainty Transparency, modelling and political accountability Transmission, community opposition and Renewable Energy Zones Offshore wind and the future generation mix Gas, household electrification and cost of living Leadership, public confidence and delivering the transition Leadership Circle: Cleaning Up is proud to be supported by its Leadership Circle. Is Cerebras Systems the next great AI chip stock or a red-hot IPO priced for perfection? In this episode of 7investing Live, Simon Erickson and executive producer Heather Horton welcome back Nick Rossolillo, co-founder of Chip Stock Investor, to break down three of the market's biggest stories.First up: Cerebras Systems (NASDAQ:CBRS), the wafer-scale chip maker that just IPO'd at a $40+ billion market cap. With 44GB of SRAM embedded directly on the chip, Cerebras was purpose-built to solve AI's "memory wall" problem for inference workloads. Now it's reportedly landed a ~$10 billion order from OpenAI and a deal with Amazon Web Services that could top $20 billion. Simon and Nick dig into whether these massive orders are real, how Cerebras stacks up against NVIDIA's GPUs and hyperscaler custom silicon, the TSMC capacity bottleneck that could throttle its growth, and how to value a company trading near 20x sales without profits. Then the conversation turns to Rocket Lab (NASDAQ:RKLB), which has pulled back from $150 to around $70 per share. Simon shares the latest iteration of his discounted cash flow valuation, and the duo debates the proposed Iridium acquisition — a deal that could pull Rocket Lab to EBITDA-positive on a pro forma basis — plus what the long-awaited Neutron rocket launch means for the company's future. Finally: Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX). After another quarter of decelerating revenue guidance, is the streaming giant now a value stock rather than a growth stock? Nick explains why the advertising business hasn't reaccelerated growth the way he expected, and what he'd need to see before buying the dip.Plus: Nick's take on the recent chip stock sell-off across NVIDIA, AMD, Broadcom, SanDisk, and Kioxia and why "stocks go up, stocks go down" might be the healthiest way to think about it.Subscribe for more deep dives on AI infrastructure, semiconductors, and innovative growth stocks!Start your FREE 7-day trial of 7investing: https://www.7investing.com/subscribeFollow Nick and Casey Rossolillo at Chip Stock Investor: https://chipstockinvestor.comRocket Lab Deep Dive videos mentionedPart 1 https://youtu.be/AMDd0-JKUH0 (Deep Dive)Part 2: https://youtu.be/Z76xTGFNwBA (Valuation)Companies MentionedPublicly Traded:Cerebras Systems (NASDAQ:CBRS)Rocket Lab (NASDAQ:RKLB)Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX)NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA)Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD)Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO)Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU)Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (NYSE:TSM)Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN)Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL)Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META)Iridium Communications (NASDAQ:IRDM)SanDisk (NASDAQ:SNDK)Kioxia Holdings (TSE:285A)Globalstar (NASDAQ:GSAT)SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX)Private / Pre-IPO:OpenAIAnthropicVideos Mentioned:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z76xTGFNwBA&t=3shttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMDd0-JKUH0&t=987sHere's the shifted chapter list, with all timestamps moved back 55 seconds:0:00 Welcome to 7investing Live0:54 Cerebras Systems: IPO recap & the Wafer-Scale Engine2:31 Is NVIDIA even the right comparison for Cerebras?5:38 The memory wall: why bigger AI models need new chips8:52 Latency vs. throughput — and the new AI alliances10:46 Are the $10B OpenAI & $20B Amazon orders real?14:02 Cerebras risks: how do you value a hot IPO?17:27 The TSMC capacity bottleneck20:01 Heather's take on Cerebras20:41 Rocket Lab: the sell-off & Iridium acquisition24:34 Simon's DCF valuation & price target for RKLB29:05 Why Neutron changes everything30:12 Q&A: Does Peter Beck carry an "Elon premium"?31:36 Netflix: buying opportunity or cheap for a reason?36:57 Q&A: Is Netflix a growth stock or a value stock?39:03 Chip stocks selling off: normal volatility or a warning?42:57 Wrap-up & final thoughts#7investing #Simonerickson #Cerebras #CBRS #NVIDIA #AIinvesting #semiconductors #chipstocks #RocketLab #RKLB #Netflix #NFLX #AIinference #stocks #investing #stockmarket #TSMC #AIdatacenters

In this episode, Nick and Vaughn dive deep into Hulk Hogan's in-ring debut in World Championship Wrestling at WCW's Bash at the Beach 1994 in Orlando. It was the dawning of a new era in WCW, "Wrestling is cool again" as Tony Schiavone would put it before signing off for the night. WCW wasted no time to deliver Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair - whereas Vince McMahon was scared off by making it the main event of WrestleMania VIII. And, man, was it ever a home run for WCW. Thomas wrestled with a very practical and painful question: Why does the Church insist we confess our sins to a priest when we can just tell God directly? In this episode Greg addresses the deeper anxiety underneath that objection—the fear that we'll never really know if we're forgiven, and the two common dead-ends many people fall into: anxious uncertainty or a shrugging casualness toward sin. Drawing on Scripture, the early Church, and his own experience, he explains why the Sacrament of Reconciliation is not a barrier but a gift of mercy that gives us something we can't get anywhere else: the audible words of absolution and a structured path for real growth in holiness. Whether you're blocked from the sacraments right now or simply wondering why “just tell God” has never quite been enough, this episode offers clarity and hope. Join Daily Inter Lake reporter Taylor Inman as she goes over five major stories shaping Northwest Montana this week - from forever chemicals detected in the Flathead Watershed to a new flood-resilient bridge for Farm to Market Road. The University of Montana's Flathead Lake Biological Station has confirmed the presence of forever chemicals and pharmaceutical compounds in the Flathead Watershed, including sites in Flathead Lake, the Flathead River, the Swan River, Stoner Creek, Ashley Creek and Whitefish Lake. Bio Station Director Jim Elser said concentrations are currently below levels of direct health concern, but the findings should motivate continued surveillance, which is challenged by the high cost of PFAS analysis.Kalispell ranked 48th out of nearly 1,900 U.S. cities and towns with more than 20,000 residents for population growth between April 2020 and July 2025, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The city grew from 25,076 to 31,851 residents over that period, a 27% increase and the largest of any Montana city in its population range.A 39-year-old man with a long history of driving under the influence faces felony charges including criminal child endangerment following a June hit-and-run in Whitefish. Myles Wayne Whitford was arrested in Kalispell with his child present and is due in Flathead County District Court on July 23.Columbia Falls Aluminum Co. has agreed to pay $57.6 million to clean up the former smelter site under a proposed consent decree with the Environmental Protection Agency, marking a milestone nearly a decade after the property was listed as a Superfund site in 2016.A Belgrade construction firm has been selected to build a replacement bridge across Libby Creek on Farm to Market Road, one of many structures damaged in the December 2025 flood in south Lincoln County. The Montana Department of Transportation says the new bridge is being designed to be more resilient to future flooding.Northwest Montana deserves strong news reporting. Breakfast Leadership Network is proud to introduce the Breakfast Leadership AI Advisory Service, a new offering built to help executives and organizations translate artificial intelligence from a buzzword into a working advantage. The service pairs proven leadership frameworks with practical AI implementation guidance, helping leaders identify where automation and intelligent tools can strengthen decision making, reduce operational drag, and free up capacity for the work that actually requires human judgment. Rather than a generic technology rollout, the advisory service is grounded in the same principles that anchor the Leadership Operating System, ensuring that any AI adoption strengthens culture and accountability rather than working against them. Leaders interested in exploring how AI can support their organization's goals are encouraged to connect with the Breakfast Leadership team to learn more. https://BreakfastLeadership.com
In this SG Deep Dive, Dan Krikorian, Patrick Carney, and Eric Fawcett examine how offenses are attacking the hedge-and-plug pick-and-roll coverage that continues to spread throughout European and modern basketball. The conversation begins with why the coverage has become so effective. Hedge and plug allows the defense to pressure the ball without fully committing two defenders, protect the short roll, and remain compact behind the play. Because many offenses still rely on two quick passes to escape the hedge, defenses have also become increasingly prepared for the rotations that follow. From there, the group explores ways to create an advantage before the defense can settle. They break down rejecting the hedge, using Gortat screens against the recovering big, flipping or hooking the screening angle, “sticking” the plug defender, and flowing into boomerang rescreens that can turn the original hedge into a drop or switch.A central theme is the micro closeout faced by the on-ball defender after disengaging to plug the roll. The discussion covers how offenses can attack that vulnerable footwork, along with defensive teaching points involving stance, handwork, jump timing, and calculated risk. The episode also revisits Dave Collins' idea of coaching as “informed art.” The group discusses blending cognitive science, ecological dynamics, the constraint-led approach, and predictive processing while still accounting for the players, context, and human feel of coaching. They close with the European teams and playoff series currently filling their film queues. What You'll Learn Why hedge and plug can create ball pressure while keeping the rest of the defense compact. How advanced defenses are solving the pick-and-roll two-on-two and preparing for the offense's second pass. Why rejecting the hedge can expose the on-ball defender's moment of disengagement. How to use Gortat screens, flip screens, and boomerang rescreens against the recovering big. What the group means by a micro closeout, and why it gives the ball handler an immediate advantage. Teaching considerations for the plug defender's footwork, hand positioning, and jump timing. Why offenses need to generate an advantage inside the initial ball-screen action instead of simply accepting the coverage. How coaches can blend cognitive science, ecological dynamics, and predictive processing without becoming tied to a single framework. Why good practices and wins deserve the same level of reflection as poor performances. Teams and playoff series worth studying across the Spanish ACB and European basketball. To join coaches and championship winning staffs from the NBA to High School from over 70 different countries taking advantage of an SG Plus membership, visit HERE!
