David and Brad serve up an episode that bounces from SNL's golden era to the ultimate media betrayal - Jake Tapper's shocking tell-all book "Original Sin" - where CNN's poster boy finally admits what everyone already knew about Biden's cognitive decline. The irony is delicious: Tapper stayed silent during an entire presidency when it mattered, only to cash in with a bestseller after the damage was done. Meanwhile, TikTok teens are literally breaking through fences for the Kool-Aid Challenge, proving that sometimes the most obvious metaphors write themselves. From parliamentary debate tactics to journalistic ethics, this episode explores what happens when gatekeepers abandon their posts.

The Tragically Hip Top Forty Countdown: Round Table TwoSongs #40–21 | Live Streamed May 23, 2025Every ten songs, we hit pause on the countdown and bring the community to the mic. This is Round Table Two — a live-streamed, unfiltered, and occasionally unhinged group chat about all things Tragically Hip. In this installment, we turn our attention to the middle meat of the countdown: songs ranked #40 through #21, where the debates get louder, the takes get spicier, and the stakes feel weirdly personal.I'm your host, jD, joined by four of the most thoughtful and opinionated Hip fans I know: Chris Sinclair, Jeff Schnurr, Craig Rogers, and Sara J. Together, we dissect the placements, praise the sleepers, question the darlings, and throw a few punches (with love) at the songs we think missed their mark. Here's what you can expect inside this episode:Jeff from Vaughan can't believe We Want to Be It and You're Not the Ocean made it this far — especially when Don't Wake Daddy is chilling down at #41. He's got opinions, and he's not afraid to name names.Sara J celebrates the perfection of matchups — how the right guests landed the right songs in uncanny fashion — and gives a heartfelt shoutout to Sherry and her beautiful number symphony around Long Time Running.Craig from Vancouver argues he'd flip the entire list upside down if he could, with Three Pistols and We Want to Be It trading places. He also reflects on how playing in a tribute band changes how you hear — and feel — a song.Chris from Guelph shares his emotional milestone: the moment Saturday Night Live introduced him to The Hip and forever changed the trajectory of his fandom. He also lists five songs in this range he'd swap out for deep cuts like Dire Wolf, Opiated, and Morning Moon.We talk bridges (and how Bobcaygeon might have the greatest one of all time), overplayed classics (Boots or Hearts vs. Grace, Too), and bold predictions for what's still to come. And me? I mostly try to wrangle the chaos, play devil's advocate, and float the idea that no one will be able to predict the Top 5 in the right order — not even me, and I've seen the data. This is not your average podcast episode. It's a jam session. A group therapy night. A barstool conversation happening in real time. And like all good round tables, it ends in laughter, hot takes, side quests, and one bold prediction from every guest. Here's a sneak peek at just a few of the quotes you'll hear:
That Show Hasn't Been Funny In Years: an SNL podcast on Radio Misfits
Nick revisits the only time legendary actor Walter Matthau hosted Saturday Night Live, offering behind-the-scenes stories from a wild week at 30 Rock. From writers' room pitches and cast reactions to what actually made it to air, it's a full breakdown of a strange, memorable night. Highlights include John Belushi's Cold Open as Fred Silverman, Matthau's pants-dropping monologue tease, and a Killer Bees sketch filled with masturbation jokes. With no musical guest, Garrett Morris stepped up with Mozart, and the Cheeseburger guys made an appearance—alongside some edgy material that still got big laughs. Plus, learn which iconic sketch was originally written for Matthau but went to someone else. [EP 125]

Siobhan Fallon Hogan appeared on Saturday Night Life, Seinfeld, and MANY of your favorite movies. Perhaps more important are the roles she refused to take because they conflicted with her Christian faith. Siobhan joins The 40 Days for Life Podcast to discuss the best mainstream films that weren't intended to be pro-life--but nevertheless convey a pro-life message.

Blink and you might miss it, but Michael Palin returns to SNL for the third time. He is joined by James Taylor, making his second appearance as musical guest. This episode serves up a mixed bag – a couple of VERY long sketches combined with three songs from JT results in one of the fewest comedy bits of any Saturday Night Live episode. Add to that the Monty Python veteran's surprisingly sparse on-camera presence, and you've got an outing that leaves something to be desired. But fear not! Empire Magazine editor and author of Wild & Crazy Guys, Nick de Semlyen joins us from merry old England to dive deep into Palin's comedic legacy, question James Taylor's musical choices, and speak with an accent that generally makes him sound smarter than both our hosts combined. Along the way, we somehow manage to shoehorn in references to Gary Busey, Steven Seagal, and contemplate the merits behind the plot of Diff'rent Strokes.---------------------------------Subscribe today!Follow us on social media: X (Twitter): NR4PTProjectBluesky: nr4ptproject.bsky.socialInstagram: nr4ptprojectFacebook: The Not Ready for Prime Time ProjectContact Us: Website: https://www.nr4project.comEmail: nr4ptproject@gmail.com
If Books are Chic had a 5 timers club like SNL, this author would be part of it. I am so thrilled to welcome back Kristy Woodson Harvey! She is an all time fave guest, author and person of mine. We are celebrating her latest, Beach House Rules which is a little thrill set the beach with a mysterious Instagram account with a whole LOT of friendship and inspiring women. She and I caught up on life, her writing, the inspo for this book, Friends and Fiction and so much more. She is kicking off her tour this week and do not miss her if she is in your neighborhood! Fun fact, she and I got to meet in IRL last summer and it was a dream!

In this Best Of episode, we revisit our conversation with Al's former Senate Communications Director, Ed Shelleby, to relive their time working together. Ed tells tales of him TRYING to manage Al's comedic impulses in serious situations, but also talks about the great work they accomplished together. Ed shares several behind-the-scenes stories including how Al, as a newly elected official, had to learn to "pivot" in interviews and explains how the office coined a brand new term: The Dehumorizer. But also, we cover the effectiveness of Al's time in the Senate. And they share many stories of how Al treated his staff like family. Dust off your funny bone (actual NBC ad copy circa 1987), it's the long-awaited conclusion to T.J., Tony and Producer Casey's forensic deep dish into Paul McCartney's 1993 appearance on Saturday Night Live! Yes, the boys are combing through every Macca performance, each Clinton-era comedy sketch, and almost every opinion... Unfortunately, Producer Casey did not inform the affiliates that we would be running over, so regularly scheduled programming resumed as planned. Of course, any well-executed satire (like the Gap Girls sketch!) will elicit thought-provoking questions. Such as:

Join us at Stan Mikita's for crullers, dear listener, as we go through one of the very best comedies of the 1990s: It's Wayne's World. Excellent. But is it truly Wayne's world? How much control does Wayne really have? What does he want? What does he stand for? And will he ever transcend the limitations of his corporeal space? We definitively answer these and so much more, as we cover both the making of the movie (including what sounds like a very difficult experience for director Penelope Spheeris in having to work with Mike Myers) and the movie itself, reading very closely to divine its message. Bonus video: Matt tells you about the ONLY Disney Animated Feature that you won't find on Disney Plus, and why that is. Most people will be haunted by the words “what if?”—but not Sara Haines. She's the witty and whip smart co-host on The View, former anchor on Good Morning America and Today, Emmy-nominated journalist. In this episode, Sara opens up about the moments the world didn't see; the less polished parts of her journey—the rejections, pivots, and quiet persistence that led her to one of the most iconic tables in television. Sara shares: The real story behind getting on-air at the Today Show (hint: it involves stalking someone on the subway) What happened when she finally got her name in the title... and then the show got canceled The identity whiplash of going from “fun girl” to “mom content only” The unexpected moment that nearly made her walk away from TV The emotional toll of being praised, passed over, and pigeonholed Her dream to be on Saturday Night Live and the moment she was actually parodied on it The surprising advice her husband gave that set her free: “Let go of the dream you never actually had” Why “being the person who tries” is her life's north star. Featuring cameos from: Kristen Cavallari, Hoda & Kathie Lee, Kiki Palmer, Chris Brown, and a surprisingly pivotal moment with a Facebook intern. What it really means to try: when no one's watching, when the outcome is uncertain, and when the voice in your head says “you're not good enough.” Follow Sara here. Jillian Bell has a bad habit of talking herself out of acting jobs. She was supposed to play a much bigger role in Adam Sandler's ‘Murder Mystery 2' and almost starred in one of Netflix's biggest hit shows. So when it came time to make her directorial debut ‘Summer of 69' (now streaming on Hulu), she decided to stay (almost entirely) behind the camera. In her return to this podcast, Bell talks about casting SNL's Chloe Fineman as a stripper fairy godmother-type character opposite newcomer Sam Morelos in her surprisingly sweet teen sex comedy. She also gets into her own complicated history with SNL 15 years after she spent one season at the show as a writer who desperately wanted to be in the cast. Plus, Bell reveals what it was like to reprise one of her first TV roles in the series finale of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm' and tells a deeply embarrassing story about the first and only time she met Justin Timberlake. This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, Zach Kazan is joined by Zach Weiss and Devin Pennypacker to catch up on some of the watches they've spotted in recent TV and movies. The inspiration for this podcast is a recent article by Zach Weiss in which he points out the blatantly fake watches used in Your Friends and Neighbors, currently airing on Apple TV+. Zach takes us through not only the mistakes made in this show, but a possible error in Sinners, still in theaters, and a famous shot in Breaking Bad where a character uses a chronograph in a way that we're pretty sure nobody ever has. The group also chats about some notable watch spotting in other recent films and TV shows, including The Last of Us, Thunderbolts (sort of), and even Saturday Night Live.To stay on top of all new episodes, you can subscribe to The Worn & Wound Podcast on all major platforms including Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, and more.
