Ever gone from smiling sweetly through discomfort… to fantasizing about slapping someone in the face?Yeah. Same.In this episode, I break down the people pleaser to rage pipeline—what happens when your body has been stuck in a fawn-freeze loop for years, and then finally starts to thaw. Spoiler: it's not always cute. Sometimes, it's loud, messy, and full of backlogged “no's” that come out all at once.I share my own story of how learning French (and drinking cheap wine) unlocked a rage I didn't even know I was holding—and what it taught me about the biology of fawning, freeze responses, and unexpressed boundaries. We also get into:* Why rage is a natural part of recovery from people-pleasing* Why cathartic rage practices (like screaming or punching pillows) aren't always trauma-informed* How to work with anger in a way that's titrated, embodied, and safe* The power of translating somatic cues into real-life boundariesIf your body has been whispering “I'm not okay” for years—this episode is your permission slip to start listening.

We explore how animals use venom not just for defense, but also for hunting, survival, and even communication. From snakes to sea creatures to the legendary Komodo dragon, Professor Fry shares jaw-dropping stories from his fieldwork that will make you see these creatures in a whole new light.

Alongside superheroes, supervillains, too, have become one of today's most popular and globally recognizable figures. However, it is not merely their popularity that marks their significance. Supervillains are also central to superhero storytelling to the extent that the superhero genre cannot survive without supervillains. Bringing together different approaches and critical perspectives across disciplines, in Supervillains: The Significance of Evil in Superhero Comics (Rutgers University Press, 2025) Dr. Nao Tomabechi troubles overly hero-centered works in comics studies to reconsider the modern American myths of the superheroes. Considering the likes of Lex Luthor, the Joker, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Loki, Venom, and more, Supervillians explores themes such as gender and sexuality, disability, and many forms of Otherness in relation to the notion of evil as it appears in the superhero genre. The book investigates how supervillains uphold and, at times, trouble dominant ideals expressed by the heroism of our superheroes. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. We continue Marc's Miserable Marvelous May 3: Très Misérables with your friendly, neighborhood wall crawler himself, Spider-Man, in SPIDER-MAN: THE VENOM SAGA! Culled from episodes of the Spider-Man Animated series from the 1990s made by Marvel, which was, at the time, owned by New World!   But how will they squeeze the whole story of Spider-Man finding his black suit, realizing the danger, letting it connect with Eddie Brock and face off with his new archenemy in under an hour? We'll tell you!  Is there something wrong with Spider-Man mentally? We discuss! Who wrote the theme song? We reveal! Who is the reporter scooping the Daily Bugle? We speculate! Who has the better business plan, Kingpin or Alistair Smythe? We compare! How much more of this is Marc going to have to take? As much as we say, he's a prisoner for the month! Is there a hidden continuity of self that ties those works together? You've mentioned that Absolute Batman aims to confront contemporary fears. How do you balance integrating real-world issues like mass violence into a superhero narrative without it becoming overwhelming for readers? This version of Bane is described as having a “true form” that's finally revealed. Was there a moment early on in this series—or in your own Batman run—where you first imagined this version of Bane, or did he evolve uniquely within the Absolute Batman frameworkArk m in Absolute Batman seems less like a building and more like a state of consciousness. How did you want to reinvent the idea of 'asylum' in this story? This series has played with identity, memory, and repressed trauma—common Snyder themes—but how has fatherhood and your recent creator-owned work influenced how you're writing Batman now, years after your first run? You've said in past interviews that Batman is a character who builds. Does this arc tear him down in a way that still honors that core idea—or are you challenging that philosophy head-on?With the Absolute line reimagining iconic characters, what can readers anticipate in future installments, and how do you envision the evolution of this universe?
