We're racing back to 2001 for Rat Race. Is this an underrated comedy classic, or do you need some serious nostalgia for this kind of dumb, over-the-top slapstick to still work? Does the movie's decision to keep its foot on the gas for nearly two hours make it more entertaining, or eventually just exhausting? How the hell do these people commit so many felonies and never have the cops come looking for them? And did the Baja Men really think “Rat Race” was going to be their follow-up hit to “Who Let the Dogs Out”? Grab your locker key, stay the hell away from the squirrel lady, and remember: there are no rules. We're ending our Summer of '70s with one of the most controversial movies we've ever covered: A Clockwork Orange. Is this an artsy masterpiece or just shock for the sake of it? Are we supposed to feel sorry for Alex DeLarge? Is Malcolm McDowell giving one of the greatest performances of all time? One of us gives it a perfect 10 and another basically wants to delete it from his library. Can you guess who is who?!?! Are eggs really the “clean” protein we've been told they are? In this episode of the Eat to Live Podcast, Dr. Joel Fuhrman and his daughter Jenna take a closer look at eggs, cholesterol, protein, choline, and what the research may actually tell us about long-term health. Dr. Fuhrman explains why some studies suggesting eggs carry only a modest cardiovascular risk may underestimate the bigger picture, especially when eggs are added to a diet already high in cholesterol. They also discuss how egg yolks may affect people with insulin resistance or diabetes risk, and why pregnancy can make these questions even more important. Plus, they tackle some of the biggest questions surrounding protein.

In this live episode of Blind Techie Geek Speaks, recorded at Sandy Beach in Swansea Massachusetts, host Kathleen Masciana discusses how philosophical thinking can influence education, communication, media, culture, and everyday life. She explains how people search for knowledge, truth, meaning, and understanding through the questions they ask and the ideas they consider. For this episode, she listened to the Listen Out Loud with The Loud House podcast episode titled “Lisa Loud.” The episode features Lisa hosting an “Ask a Brainiac” call-in segment. She responds to callers whose questions become increasingly humorous and unexpected. Kathleen connects the episode to the importance of sincere questions, honest communication, and careful listening. She also considers the difference between seeking understanding and creating a distraction. She relates the discussion to Aristotle's belief that people can develop wisdom by examining earlier ideas, considering different arguments, and continuing the search for knowledge. Throughout the episode, she explains philosophical ideas in clear language. She encourages listeners to question their assumptions, evaluate information carefully, consider different perspectives, and remain open to learning. Her discussion shows how philosophy can arise from ordinary conversations. It also shows how thoughtful questions can lead to a deeper understanding of human experience.
In this live episode of Blind Techie Geek Speaks, recorded at Sandy Beach in Swansea, Massachusetts, host Kathleen Masciana presents a philosophical reflection on Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul. She examines Greg Heffley's cross-country family trip to celebrate the ninetieth birthday of Meemaw, Greg's great-grandmother, and considers the film's themes of family expectations, reputation, personal responsibility, independence, and technology. Before the journey begins, Susan Heffley collects the family's phones and devices because she wants everyone to communicate directly, spend meaningful time together, and experience a technology-free trip. Greg has a different objective. After an embarrassing online video damages his reputation, he learns that Mac Digby, a gaming personality he admires, will appear at Player Expo, a video-game convention. Greg attempts to redirect the family's trip toward the event because he believes that meeting Mac Digby may improve how others view him. His plan contributes to several humorous complications, including confusion at a hotel, encounters with aggressive seagulls, a runaway pig, and conflict with the family known as the Beardos. Kathleen explains that these situations made her laugh because every effort to solve one problem creates another. She also considers the deeper questions beneath the comedy, including how people respond to uncertainty, how public opinion influences identity, and how difficult it can be to control the consequences of personal decisions. As a blind online graduate student pursuing a Master's in Philosophy at Holy Apostles College and Seminary, she views Susan Heffley's technology rule from the perspective of accessibility and independent participation. A braille computer supports her reading, research, coursework, and written communication. Her phone provides access to the learning-management system and academic responsibilities. An analog recording device without internet access supports reading coursework aloud. These tools do not replace effort, preparation, or critical thinking; they help make participation possible. Kathleen explains that a rule that appears equal may affect people differently when it removes technology that a blind student or another disabled person may need for access to education, communication, and information. The film does not substantially address the experiences of disabled people or the ways accessible technology may support blind people and others with disabilities. She does not claim that the filmmakers intended to exclude anyone, recognizing that the movie is a lighthearted family comedy. Instead, she uses the film as an opportunity to encourage awareness of accessibility and the importance of considering different human needs. Kathleen connects the movie to Plato's Apology, in which Socrates defends a life devoted to questioning assumptions, examining beliefs, and seeking truth rather than accepting public opinion without reflection. Through Blind Techie Geek Speaks, she uses her voice to promote awareness of disability, accessibility, education, independence, technology, and meaningful participation. This episode offers a thoughtful examination of how technology can be both a source of distraction and an essential means of access, while encouraging listeners to consider the experiences of people whose lives and education depend on accessible tools.

In this live audio episode of Blind Techie Geek Speaks, recorded at Sandy Beach in Swansea Massachusetts, host Kathleen Masciana offers a thoughtful reflection on the transition from summer to the back-to-school season. The episode explores screen time, family routines, personal responsibility, and the value of maintaining a balanced relationship with technology. Drawing on Socrates' view that character is shaped by the choices we make, Kathleen considers how everyday practices—such as device-free family time, healthier bedtime routines, and meaningful conversation—can support learning, self-control, and genuine connection. Our first ever live podcast recording at Go Bananas Comedy Club! What a great night as I presented some evidence I've collected over the years. I had such a great time discussing the newest disclosure releases from the government with Greg Nichols and he discusses his more skeptical point of view on certain previously released videos of radar. Then, Matthew Jackson joins me to showcase PRISM on the show. Wowsers we had a great time and had an amazing direct response to a ridiculous question, as well. I'll let you be the judge of that for yourself, though. My buddy and Disclosure Advocate Laura Moorman joins me to tell me her origin story of being fascinated in UFO's and the paranormal. We are definitely going to have her on the show for a full interview soon and possibly sometime later in the year have our first ever live debate.
