I'm married to Dr Aras Kvedaras DC and we are the former owners and founders of Active Relief Centre . We both currently work for the new owners and stay very active in the sports therapy world. We specialize in high end strength athletes , powerlifters, strong men competitors and wrestlers. As well as the general public. My original background is with mental health. In PEI, I was the director of a mental health program and was highly involved in my community. I even ran for mayor of my town twice! The first time I lost by two votes and the second time I lost by four votes. And yes. There was a recount. lol I'm also the proud mom of three grown kids and one grandbaby. I started powerlifting, after 15 years of regular gym training, when I was in my 30s and rose up the ranks, winning nationals in 2015 and 2019. I qualified for Team Canada and won the NAPF bench press competition, placed second at Commonwealth, placed second in the World at the IPF World powerlifting championship in Sweden and won Commonwealth. THEN COVID hit and I lost my drive for competitive powerlifting. So when I was offered the opportunity to be in a wrestling show, I jumped on the idea. Now I've been attending wrestling school at Off The Ropes Studio in Kitchener for almost three years. I've now wrestled for four different companies, I've also been working for a company in PEI. BARF-Barfen ist eine bestimmte Form der Ernährung von Haustieren, die meist bei Hunden und Katzen angewendet wird. Dabei steht die artgerechte Fütterung im Fokus. Das heisst, es wird primär rohes Fleisch, roher Fisch und Rohkost gefüttert.  In den letzten Jahren hat diese Form der Fütterung zugenommen. Hunde- und Katzenhalter wählen Barfen um ihre Tiere artgerecht und in Anlehnung an ihr Leben in freier Wildbahn zu ernähren. Wie gesund ist Barfen? Die BARF-Ernährung bringt aber auch Risiken mit sich. Da beim Barfen hauptsächlich rohes Fleisch in den Napf kommt, ist das Risiko der Keimbelastung besonders hoch. Es können Krankheitserreger oder Parasiten übertragen werden, die durch engen Kontakt auch auf den Menschen übertragen werden können. Strenge Hygiene Wird bei der BARF-Ernährung jedoch eine strenge Hygiene und regelmässige Kontrollen beim Tierarzt eingehalten, ist es für Mensch und Vierbeiner wenig gefährlich. Bevor man die Tierernährung auf BARF umstellt, sollte man unbedingt einen Tierazt oder eine Tierernährungsspezialistin kontaktieren.

In this episode I have a conversation with William Murillo, a powerlifter from Belmopan. He is going to participate in the upcoming NAPF competition in the Cayman Islands in August 2023. We dive into how covid and quarantine led him to putting on a lot of weight. He was convinced to join a gym to simply lose weight but that took on a life of itself and led him to competing nationally and then internationally for powerlifting. Through all of that, he gained a bronze medal in his weight/age class back in the 2022 edition of the NAPF competition in Panama City, Panama.
