What up Fellas! What a time to be alive!
Playboi Carti is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He is known for his experimental and innovative approach to hip hop music, as well as his eccentric and unpredictable personality. Carti emerged in the Atlanta underground rap scene in the early 2010s, and quickly gained attention for his unique style and sound. He signed to A$AP Mob's record label AWGE in 2015, and released his debut mixtape, Playboi Carti, in 2017. The mixtape was a critical and commercial success, and established Carti as one of the most exciting new artists in hip hop. Carti followed up his debut mixtape with his self-titled debut studio album in 2018. The album was another critical and commercial success, and featured guest appearances from Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, and Lil Uzi Vert. Carti's second studio album, Whole Lotta Red, was released in 2020. The album was a departure from Carti's previous work, featuring a more experimental and punk-influenced sound. The album was met with mixed reviews from critics, but was a commercial success, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Carti is known for his unique and eclectic fashion sense, as well as his eccentric stage presence. He is also a popular figure on social media, and has a large and dedicated fan base. Carti is one of the most influential and innovative artists in hip hop today, and his music continues to push the boundaries of the genre. One of Carti's most anticipated unreleased songs is "Justin Bieber (By Myself)", which features Lil Uzi Vert. The song was first previewed in a short snippet in 2023, and has since become a fan favorite. The song is produced by frequent Uzi producer Maaly Raw and frequent Carti producer F1LTHY, and features the duo trading bars throughout the song over upbeat production. The song's title and lyrics suggest that it may be a more introspective and personal track from Carti. In the snippet, he raps about feeling alone and misunderstood, and about wanting to be by himself. The song is also notable for its catchy hook, with Carti singing "Justin Bieber, yeah, I'm by myself". "Justin Bieber (By Myself)" is one of the most anticipated unreleased songs of 2023, and fans are eager to hear the full version. The song is sure to be a hit with fans of Carti, Uzi Vert, and hip hop music in general. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

A$AP Rocky has released a new single called “Same Problems?” while revealing some details about his forthcoming album.Featuring background vocals from Lil Yachty and Miguel, the self-produced song finds the A$AP Mob leader in a plaintive mood as he mourns the seemingly endless deaths in Hip Hop.The track was premiered during Rocky's Amazon Music performance in December, during which photos of 2Pac, Biggie, Nipsey Hussle, Pop Smoke, Mac Miller and other late rappers flashed on the giant on-stage screen behind him.In a rare interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, Pretty Flacko explained the inspiration behind “Same Problems?,” admitting he felt guilty for perpetuating violence through his music.“I think I was feeling remorse. I think I was feeling plight,” he said. “I think I was also feeling a sense of guilt, because every time we lose somebody in our community, we all, especially me, have a habit of just saying things like, ‘It's messed up. It's wrong. Before ASAP Rocky would become a chart-topping sensation in the hip-hop scene as a member of the A$AP Mob in 2011 and release classic solo albums like “Long Live A$AP”, “At Long Last A$AP”, and “Testing”. Before ASAP Rocky would begin dating his long-time friend Rihanna at the tail end of 2020. One of hip-hop's most popular spitters and a true counter-culture maverick, A$AP Rocky is renowned for his multitude of talents; his ability on the mic, his flair for fashion, his enjoyment of psychedelic drugs, and his very public love life that includes exes like Kendall Jenner and Iggy Azalea. The most successful member of Harlem's A$AP Mob – a collective of MCs, producers, video directors, and designers, Rocky kicked off his career in 2011 and earned himself an eye-popping $3 Million dollar deal with Sony/RCA in no time flat. Hit songs like “Peso”, “Trilla”, and “Purple Swag” thrilled audiences from the very beginning, but few people at the time understood the struggle Rocky had to go through to get to this moment. An incarcerated father, a murdered brother, and his own stint at Ryker's Island is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this dude's absolutely insane story. But in the end, A$AP Rocky would triumph over it all on his journey to becoming one of the most popular rappers to ever hail from the East Coast.

For today's episode, we're focusing on the story of arguably the biggest rapper in the world – Travis Scott. On the bright side of fame – Travis Scott has had a career that sky-rocketed him to the very top of the music game. Not only does he have one of the most popular rap albums in recent memory with “Astroworld” but singles like “Sicko Mode” have reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Oh, and by the way, he also re-invented the idea of live performances during a worldwide lockdown with “Astronomical”, his Astroworld and Fortnight collaboration that brought in 12 million viewers. But the dark side of fame is a different story altogether. One full of back-stabbing, leaving friends behind in the dust, contrived beef, putting his fans at risk, and even accusations of plagiarism. So, I hope you guys will join me as I take a look at Travis Scott's plunge into The Dark Side of Fame.

For Episode 68, Ray, Sillah & Toren begin by reflecting on DMX and his legacy, rest in power to an icon and music legend. Reflecting on X's legacy leads to a conversation on the rap game and which coast has been running it since the turn of the century? The trio argues that the East Coast were dominant in the early 2000s specifically with the likes of Ja Rule, 50 Cent and Jay Z in their primes. In 2005 came the introduction of The Game and the Documentary album, with him 'bringing back the west coast" and at the time arguably carrying it on his back, at the same time that Kanye West was on the come up with the release of Late Registration and College Dropout the previous year. In the latter 2000's we saw the South start to take stride with the rise of both trap and crunk music, notable names include Jeezy, T.I and Soulja Boy. From 2010 we saw the emergence of a new era of east coast music with A$AP MOB and Pro Era setting trends and new styles, whilst over on the west coast TDE were also gaining popularity, as we argue that the game was more contested between the turn of the last decade up until around 2015/16. From thereon can it be argued that the south has taken back control with Atlanta arguably being at the forefront of the music game with the likes of the Migos, Future and Playboi Carti? Let us know your thoughts! In the second half of the episode, Ray poses the concept of 'Green Flags' as opposed to Red Flags when considering a partner, and asks Toren & Sillah what some of their green flags are? These include having a drive, a good relationship with family and being a patient individual. The Official release of the sophomore album Atlanta, GA and A$AP MOB associate, Playboi Carti. After two years since he announced it back in 2018, the album would be pushed back and pushed back close to be shelfed from his label but it finally came on XMAS Day to some mixed results from hardcore and casual fans alike, saying it was trash. Unlike them I enjoyed the album, it has some songs that you can mosh to. Tho it had some filler songs to fill up the albums space... I mean the album is 24 tracks there was bound to be some fillers but I still enjoy the project I really did. The Self Titled Mixtape from Atlanta, GA rapper and associate to the A$AP MOB, Playboi Carti. This came after the hit song of 2017 "Magnolia" with the zany beat and production from producer Pi'erre Bourne. The tape itself is minimalistic but comes very mindless and numbing to the point where I'm waiting for the song to be over. All tho I like some of the songs on this but man this is brain numbing. As The Rub's History of Hip Hop mix series moves into the teens, the range of styles ever widens, touching on everything from classic soul samples to weird dubstep beats. (Watch The Throne had both.) Drake, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross were featured on everything; Juicy J. was putting out mixtapes at an astonishing rate, and Meek Mill had a couple of career-defining hits. J. Cole, Big Sean, Future, A$AP Mob, Odd Future and the Black Hippy crew were the new kids on the block, and Kreayshawn and YC were the year's biggest one hit wonders. In R&B, both The Weeknd and Frank Ocean debuted in 2011. All told, it's a pretty incredible year to revisit!

On this week's episode of The Juice Podcast, A$AP Ferg joins Billboard's Erika Ramirez and co-hosts ItsTheReal to break down "Ferg Forever" cuts ("Reloaded" -- which samples Disney's "Frozen" theme song, "Let It Go" -- and "Ja Rule") and collaborations (SZA, Big Sean, M.I.A.), shares the time Madonna made him non-Lipton tea, and expands on rhymes about Ferguson and Michael Brown. Ferg also updates listeners on his "Trap Lord" follow-up album, A$AP Mob's album and their group chat tendencies, but according to Ferg the best rapper he texts with is Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's Bizzy Bone.
