Also der Schöpfer. Merken sie was? Wir sind schon viel zu weit gegangen. „Die Geister, die ich rief ...“ . Nicht der narzisstische Trottel Trump ist die Gefahr sondern der, der die Fäden zieht wie bei einer Marionette. Das hätte man schon früher sehen können, liebe Brandenburger. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Welcome to Day 2419 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2419 – Standing Nose-to-Nose With the Adversary – Daily Wisdom Putnam Church Message – 07/07/2024 Our Fiery Ordeal – Standing Nose-to-Nose with the Adversary. 1 Peter 5:8-14 Last week, we compared worldly success with Biblical success. We settled on the formula for Biblical Success: submission to others + humility before God - worry of the world = genuine relief. Today's passage is 1 Peter 5:8-14, on page 1892 of your Pew Bibles.  8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen. Final Greetings 12 With the help of Silas,[b] whom I regard as a faithful brother, I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it. 13 She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you her greetings, and so does my son Mark. 14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ. We now arrive at the end of Peter's powerful letter of hope in hurtful times. Peter sounds the battle alarm (5:8-14). He draws the army's attention to their spiritual opponent, who is planning his evil strategy behind their fiery trials (5:8). He tells the soldiers of Christ how the enemy can be defeated (5:9). He reminds us that the fierce conflict will soon be over and that we will one day emerge as victors (5:10). Finally, he points to Christ, who will ultimately triumph and exercise dominion over all (5:11). — 5:8 — Whoever lives under the impression that Satan doesn't exist is living in a dream world. Peter identifies and describes the devil in 5:8 in clear, unmistakable terms. Satan goes by several titles throughout the Bible. In 5:8, Peter uses the terms “enemy" (antidikos) and “devil” (diabolos). Diabolos refers to how he falsely accuses God's people.  In Revelation 9:11, he is called Abaddon and Apollyon, meaning “Destroyer,” titles that refer to his destructiveness. It could refer to a single divine being or multiple evil beings. These and other labels for the adversary describe him as a dangerous, destructive deceiver who slanders and accuses us at every opportunity. Revelation 12:9-10 describes Satan's

Luke 4:1-2 says, "And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry." It's possible based on this passage that the enemy tempted Jesus not only at the end of the forty days, but also during the forty days. Nevertheless, it doesn't undermine, diminish, or change the point that the enemy struck at a moment of vulnerability.Support the showIf you feel so led, you can support the podcast by clicking HERE or by clicking the "Support the show" button above. Revelation 20:1-3 - The Defeat of Satan

Pastor Mike Impact Ministries

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 22, 2022 5:05

Today we begin a new chapter that reveals to us the defeat of Satan at the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and the setting up of the His thousand-year reign. First John sees an angel coming down out of heaven with a key and a great chain. The identity of the angel whom John saw coming down from heaven to bind Satan is not disclosed, but he may be Michael the archangel, the great adversary of Satan (12:7; cf. Dan. 10:13, 21; 12:1; Jude 9). Whoever the angel is, he possesses great power. He is sent to earth with a specific agenda: to seize Satan for the thousand-year duration of the kingdom, bind him, cast him into the abyss and seal it, and then release him at the end of the thousand years. The angel cast Satan into the “bottlemless pit”. The "bottomless pit" spoken of in Revelation 20:1 is not the same as hell; it is the "abyss" that we have met before in our studies. The “abyss” appears seven times in Revelation (cf. 9:1, 2, 11; 11:7; 17:8), always in reference to the temporary place of incarceration for certain demons (fallen angels). The abyss is not their final place of punishment; the lake of fire is (Matt. 25:41). Nevertheless, it is a place of torment to which the demons fear to be sent (Luke 8:31). The prisoners in the abyss are among the most vile and evil of all demons and include the "spirits now in prison, who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah" (1 Pet. 3:19-20). Many of the demons sentenced to the abyss will be released at the fifth trumpet judgment to torment sinners (9:1-12). Satan is not cast into hell immediately, because God still has one more task for him to perform. Rather, Satan is confined in the bottomless pit for 1,000 years. First, Satan was cast out of heaven (Rev. 12:9), and now he is cast out of earth. The key given to the angel by God signifies his delegated authority (cf. 9:1); he has the power to open the abyss, and then to shut it after casting Satan inside. The metaphor of binding demons with a chain also appears in Jude 6. This chain is a great one, because of Satan's greatness and power as the highest created being (cf. Ezek. 28:14). The angel laid hold of Satan, who is unmistakably identified by the same four titles given him in 12:9. First, he is called the dragon, a title given him twelve times in Revelation (cf. 12:3, 4, 7, 9, 13, 16, 17; 13:1, 2, 4; 16:13). It emphasizes his bestial nature, ferociousness, and oppressive cruelty. The title serpent of old hearkens back to the Garden of Eden and Satan's temptation of Eve (Gen. 3:1-6; 2 Cor. 11:3). Diabolos (devil) means "slanderer," or "malicious gossip" (1 Tim. 3:11; 2 Tim. 3:3; Titus 2:3)—an appropriate title for the "accuser of our brethren" (12:10). Satan is a malignant liar; in fact, he is "the father of lies" (John 8:44). Satanas (Satan) and its Hebrew root satan are used fifty-three times in Scripture. Both words mean "adversary," since Satan opposes God, Christ, and all believers. Some Bible students feel that the "chaining" of Satan took place when Jesus died on the cross and arose from the dead to ascend to heaven. While it is true that Jesus won His decisive victory over Satan at the cross, the sentence against the devil has not yet been effected. He is a defeated foe, but he is still free to attack God's people and oppose God's work (1 Peter 5:8). Dr. James M. Gray who suggested that, if Satan is bound today, it must be with a terribly long chain! Paul was sure that Satan was loose (Eph. 6:10), and John agreed with him (Rev. 2:13; 3:9). And for the record, so do I! Having taken care of His enemies, the Lord is now free to establish His righteous kingdom on the earth. Wow! What a day that will be when our enemy, our adversary is defeated and bound, and we will be totally free of his influence and power!

Anchored by Truth from Crystal Sea Books - a 30 minute show exploring the grand Biblical saga of creation, fall, and redempti

Episode 126 – But What About … Demons Welcome to Anchored by Truth brought to you by Crystal Sea Books. In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” The goal of Anchored by Truth is to encourage everyone to grow in the Christian faith by anchoring themselves to the secure truth found in the inspired, inerrant, and infallible word of God. Script: How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! Isaiah, chapter 14, verse 12, King James Version ******** VK: Hello. I’m Victoria K and today on Anchored by Truth we are continuing our latest study series brought to you by Crystal Sea Books. We’ve labeled this series “But what about” because a lot of time you hear questions like “but what about angels and demons” or “what about heaven and hell?” As we’ve noted before, the Christian faith has not only a natural dimension but also a supernatural one. This can be confusing to people who have not studied Christianity carefully. A lot of people believe in only what they can see and hear and they discount the supernatural entirely. Others embrace the supernatural so fervently they actually fall for demonic deceptions. So, we’re doing episodes on several of these subjects that create confusion to see what the Bible actually has to say about them. I’m in the studio today with RD Fierro, author and Founder of Crystal Sea Books. RD, last time we did our second episode on angels. Are we going to continue that today? RD: Greetings to all the Anchored by Truth listeners. Thank you for joining us here today. And yes we are going to continue our discussion about the angelic order but whereas in the first two episodes we focused on the holy angels, today we are moving over to talk about the other side. VK: By the other side, you mean demons. Demons are also members of the angelic order. But the demons are the ones who chose to disobey God rather remain obedient as the holy angels did. Classically, it was said that Christians faced three opponents in their attempts to live a holy life: the world, the flesh, and the devil. The devil is the leader of the demonic order. RD: Yes. The words “demon” and “devil” are actually just different translations of the same Greek word “daimon.” (D-A-I-M-O-N) So, demons or devils are often termed “fallen angels” because when they chose to rebel against God they were cast out of heaven. We’re not told in scripture what specific crime the demons committed but it involved some kind of rebellion against God. Because angels and demons are not corporeal beings they were fully mature upon creation. There was no need for them to grow up or develop in the same way people do. And we’re not sure how long a period of time elapsed between the creation of the angelic order and the actions that resulted in their separation between being fallen or unfallen. VK: What we are sure of is that the entire angelic order was created in a state of probation just as man was in the Garden of Eden. But, unlike man, once the holy angels exhibited obedience they were confirmed in a state of perpetual holiness. Similarly, after their rebellion the demons were confirmed in their rebellious state – meaning there is no possibility for their redemption. The New Geneva Study Bible puts it this way: “[The demons’] minds are permanently opposed to God, goodness, truth, the kingdom of Christ, and the welfare of human beings. They have real, but limited, power and freedom of movement, though [as Calvin said] they ‘drag their chains wherever they go and can never hope to overcome God.’” RD: Yes. That’s a great overall summary of the demons. They rebelled. They fell. And at least some group of them now has some freedom to trouble and afflict mankind. They have both knowledge and strength and they are reported in the gospels to have inflicted or exploited both physical and mental maladies. In Mark 9:17 – 18 the Bible says, “A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid.” This verse is interesting, not only because it gives an illustration of the physical harm the demon was inflicting but also because the father had recognized that his son’s ailment was caused or exacerbated by a demon. VK: Of course, the good news for the father is that Jesus is the master over all of the created order and he immediately cast the demon out. In fact, there is no recorded instance in the Bible of Jesus encountering a demon, or demons, where he did not cast the demons out. That’s a 100% success record. And, interestingly enough, the demons knew Jesus had the power to cast them out. Or order them to do whatever He wanted them to. In Luke, chapter 8, verses 30 and 31 there’s an account of Jesus encountering a man who has been possessed by a number of demons. The Bible says, “Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “Legion,” [the man] replied, because many demons had gone into him. And they begged Jesus repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss.” In many of the instances that Jesus cast out demons the Bible does not tell us where the demons went. But from these verses it is clear that Jesus had the power to send them wherever He decided. RD: Yes. And the demons reference to begging not to be sent to the abyss is particularly interesting. VK: How so? RD: There are some commentators who believe that not all the demons are currently free roaming the earth so to speak. In 2 Peter 2:4, Peter says, “For God did not spare even the angels who sinned. He threw them into hell, in gloomy pits of darkness, where they are being held until the day of judgment.” And Jude says in Jude, verse 6 “And I remind you of the angels who did not stay within the limits of authority God gave them but left the place where they belonged. God has kept them securely chained in prisons of darkness, waiting for the great day of judgment.” Notice that Peter and Jude are essentially saying the same thing – that there are certain of the demons (fallen angels) who sinned in such a way that God immediately cast them into some kind of dark prison or abyss. Note that both writers say those demons are being held in their prison until the day of judgment. So, that puts a slightly different perspective on what we heard the demons say to Jesus in the verses we heard from Luke. The demons were well aware that Jesus could immediately consign them into the abyss – apparently a place so fearful that even the demons dread to go there. VK: That makes sense. And in a sense it points out that God’s mercy was active very early in the history of the created universe. Knowing how bad the demons who are free are, it’s hard to imagine how much worse the demons who were immediately confined to the abyss must be. So, where do you want to go from here? RD: Well, there are a couple of different points that I want to get to today. But before we go too much further I want to reiterate the last thing that we talked about in our last episode of Anchored by Truth. VK: So, the final point we made in our last show was that, while demons may influence a believer’s behavior, a demon cannot occupy or take possession of an authentic believer. 1 John 4:4 says, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” The “one who is in the world” is generally thought to be a reference to Satan. “The one who is in you” – if you are a believer – is the Holy Spirit. So, what the Apostle John is assuring his readers is that authentic believers in Christ, who are indwelt by the Holy Spirit, can’t be overcome by Satan. After all, the Holy Spirit is not about to share His domain with demons. And since the Holy Spirit is omnipotent there is nothing that could compel Him to. RD: Exactly. So, as we go through our discussion listening believers need to be assured that they cannot be taken over by Satan or any of his minions. That doesn’t mean the demons can’t participate in tempting us or creating trouble for us. But it does mean that when we trust in the power of Jesus and the Holy Spirit we will be given the victory over the world, the flesh, and the devil. VK: Well, another point I think that we should make is that sometimes people get confused about Satan and who exactly he is. Some people think that Satan and Jesus are the opposites of one another. They’re not. Jesus is both fully human and fully God. Colossians 1:16 says, “For in [Jesus] all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.” Satan is a created being. Jesus is the Creator Being. Jesus and Satan are not equal in stature or power. Jesus is immeasurably greater than Satan. The counterpart to Satan would more likely be Michael, the archangel. RD: That’s a great point. So, since we’re talking about Satan let’s move on to another point about him. Satan is the leader of the fallen angels, but the name Satan is as much of a title as a name. When Satan is used as a proper name, the Hebrew word that’s translated as Satan has an article and it means "the adversary" (Job 1:6-12; 2:1-7). In the New Testament the term Satan is used as interchangeably with Diabolos, or the devil. VK: Other titles that the Bible uses for Satan include: "the dragon," in Revelation 12:9 "the old serpent" in Revelation 20:2); "the prince of this world" in John 12:31and 14:30; "the prince of the power of the air" in Ephesians 2:2; "the god of this world" in 2 Corinthians 4:4; and "the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience" in Ephesians 2:2 RD: He is also called "Beelzebub, the prince of the devils" (Matthew 12:24). He is also described as a "roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8). People are said to be "taken captive by him" (2 Timothy 2:26). Christians are warned against his "devices" (2 Corinthians 2:11), and called on to "resist" him (James 4:7). All of these references tell us Satan is a dangerous adversary to Christians. But the good news is that Christ has redeemed his people from "him that had the power of death, that is, the devil" (Hebrews 2:14). VK: So, again, this points to something very important for believers to understand. We need to be aware of Satan and his tactics and schemes because we can’t guard against them if we’re not aware of them. But we also need to be aware that Satan is a defeated foe. Christ has triumphed over Satan (Matthew 12:29) and Christians will triumph over him as well. Satan is a creature. He is superhuman but he is not divine. He most certainly is not Jesus’ counterpart. In fact Martin Luther famously said that the devil is God’s devil. As long as we are aware of Satan’s tactics we can be confident in God’s providential care for us in preserving us from Satan’s plans. We know that Jesus is willing to intercede for His children in protecting them from the devil. In the Gospel of Luke, chapter 22, verses 31 and 32 Jesus told Simon Peter, “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail.” RD: That’s why it is incumbent on all of us to not neglect the spiritual disciplines that keep us close to the Lord. Prayer, regular Bible study, appropriate worship are all important for our spiritual growth and development but they are also instrumental for ensuring that we are alert to Satan’s desires to thwart God’s plans for us. We also need to remember that Satan’s attempts to interfere with God’s plan of redemption do not start and end with us. To the contrary, Satan began to try to block God’s plan to save His people as soon as God pronounced a curse on him in the Garden of Eden. A lot of Christians don’t think about the fact that the fight we’re engaged in isn’t a new fight. We’re just fighting the latest battles in a struggle that’s been going on for thousands of years. VK: And that actually leads us to something else you wanted to discuss today – the Bible’s descriptions of demonic activity are primarily contained within the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. It seems that during the period of Jesus’ earthly ministry demonic activity was particularly pronounced. RD: Right. It’s almost as if we could say that somehow Satan thought that somehow he could stop Jesus from completing his mission, that Satan thought that the curse that had been pronounced by God over 4,000 years earlier could be set aside. VK: Well, let’s be sure that everybody is aware of what we’re talking about. In book of Genesis we’re told Satan disguised as a serpent tempted Eve to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Crystal Sea is producing a dramatized, poetic version of that moment in the garden so we’re going to listen to a brief excerpt. We think it will help listeners imagine what might have been going on at that pivotal moment. ---- THE GENESIS SAGA (EXCERPT FROM PART 3)(start with stanza before “Ah the woman, ah the man – go through 3 stanzas where Satan speaks) Later in the day after Eve fell for Satan’s temptation God arrived in the Garden when the cool evening breezes are blowing. Apparently Satan was still there with Adam and Eve because God confronts all three. Then in Genesis, chapter 3, verses 14 and 15 God curses Satan. This is verse 15 and God is speaking to Satan: “And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.” So, Genesis 3:15 sets the stage for the rest of the Bible. In the rest of the Bible we hear the story of the hostility between demons and man. We hear the unfolding story of God’s plan to redeem a portion of mankind. And we hear the story of Satan attempts to thwart God’s plan and purpose. RD: Exactly. So, it took about 4,500 years between the time God pronounced the curse and Jesus’ birth on earth to finish the plan – the plan that would culminate with Satan striking Jesus’ heel (which a serious but not fatal injury) and Jesus crushing Satan’s head (which is fatal to Satan’s aspirations). So, in Jesus’ life the first attempt Satan made to derail the plan was to inspire Herod to order the murder of all the children under the age of 2 in and around Bethlehem. VK: Scripture doesn’t report that specific inspiration but it seems reasonable because demons are frequently said to inspire human beings to take actions that rebel against God or God’s purposes. This can sometimes happen with even people who live generally commendable lives. For instance, in 1 Chronicles, chapter 21, verse 1 says, “Satan rose up against Israel and caused David to take a census of the people of Israel.” RD: Yes. That’s why the Apostle Paul warned the Corinthians, and us, that we must be on guard against Satan’s devices. If Satan could tempt David to sin all of us need to be that much more careful to be on our guard. At any rate, the next attempt that we’re told about in the Gospels of Satan attempting to stop Jesus from completing his mission was when Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness. One of the temptations was for Jesus to simply worship Satan and in return Satan would give Jesus all the kingdoms he could see standing on the top of a high mountain. This temptation was for Jesus to receive dominion without having to endure the cross. Jesus knew exactly what was going to happen to Him for Him to become the Savior. Jesus knew completing his mission was going to be costly – he would have to endure the “injury to his heel.” But, of course, Jesus used scripture to rebel Satan, not once but 3 times. VK: So, what you’re saying is that Satan, aided by the other demons, tried their best to stop Jesus. And the intensity of their actions on earth apparently increased dramatically during Jesus life and ministry. That’s the conclusion we would reach by just checking the number of references to demonic activity the Bible contains. And, obviously, the final attempt Satan made to derail God’s plan to bring salvation to his elect was to kill Jesus. You have to believe that Friday evening after the crucifixion Satan and his demons were celebrating because as far as they knew they had brought about the death of God’s anointed Messiah. And because Satan is not omniscient he did not know what was going to happen next. RD: I think that’s right – even though Satan should have known because Jesus had clearly told his disciples that he would rise from the dead after 3 days. That’s in Matthew 12:40. “For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” And, of course, Jesus fulfilled this prophecy exactly. This also fulfilled the prophecy made in Genesis 3:15. In dying on the cross Jesus fulfilled His mission of redeeming all who would put their trust in Him for salvation. In rising from the dead Jesus showed that his sacrifice was acceptable to the father. VK: Jesus’ resurrection defeated both death and Satan. In 1 Corinthians, chapter 15 the Apostle Paul points out that Jesus' resurrection from the dead guarantees that all those who place their trust in Jesus will also be raised to eternal life. This will deny both the grave and Satan their victory and take away the sting of death. RD: So, there was a high degree of demonic activity during Jesus’ life. There was another striking period of demonic activity just before the worldwide flood that’s recorded in Genesis chapters 6 through 9 – the one which Noah survived by building the ark as God had instructed. VK: Where do you see the demonic activity in that part of scripture? RD: Genesis, chapter 6, verse 2 says, “The sons of God saw the beautiful women and took any they wanted as their wives.” While there are variations in how commentators view the term “sons of God,” many commentators point out that the Hebrew words that are translated as “sons of God” are used consistently in both the Old Testament and the New Testament to refer to angels. Dr. Jonathan Sarfati in his 800 page commentary on the first 11 chapters of Genesis goes through an extensive discussion about how this is the correct translation. We don’t have time today to go through all of Dr. Sarfati’s points but he notes the fact that “sons of God” means angels was the oldest Jewish commentaries on Genesis 6 always understood the term that way and that the Septuagint actually used the phrase “angels of God” for that verse. The Septuagint was the Greek translation of the Old Testament and was the most widely used version of the Old Testament in Jesus’ day. So, Dr. Sarfati actually sees the illicit relations between fallen angels and human women as the reason for the extreme wickedness that resulted in the destruction of the entire human race except for Noah and his family. VK: Dr. Sarfati’s view is not universally accepted but it has the virtue of being consistent with what we know about Satan and his intent to thwart God’s plan for one of Eve’s descendants to crush Satan’s head. Dr. Sarfati writes, “If womankind was corrupted by their angelic mates, then the Seed could not arrive. By “Seed” Dr. Sarfati is referring to the promised descendant of Eve that would defeat Satan. RD: Right. So, the final place in the Bible where demonic activity is prominent is in the book of Revelation which in large measure describes the period immediately before Jesus’ return and the period immediately after. So, speaking broadly there are three parts of scripture where we see prominent demonic activity and each part is associated with a particularly important event in redemptive history. During the time of Noah the entire human race was reduced to the family of one man and that man enabled the continuation of the line that would ultimately produce the promised Messiah. There was an unparalleled amount of demonic activity when the Messiah was actually on the earth and who completed the tasks necessary to crush Satan’s head. And there will be an escalation in demonic activity just before the final judgment and imposition of the ultimate penalty for the demons’ rebellion. VK: In other words, the demons display a clear awareness of the fact that their rebellion has consequences for them – eternal consequences. And they have done their best through the course of human history to avoid those consequences. RD: Right. But, of course, they can’t avoid the consequences of their rebellion against an infinitely holy God any more than human beings can. The only reason we can have hope is that the perfect man, Jesus, bore the consequences of our sin when he sacrificed himself on the cross. So, unlike demons there is no need for any person to suffer eternally for their rebellion. All we have to do is place our trust in Jesus’ atoning death. As it has been said, “We can stand before God as if we were Jesus because Jesus stood before God as if He were us.” VK: Well, next time we’ll turn our attention to one particular angel that appears in various places in scripture – the so-called Angel of the Lord. There are various opinions as to who the Angel of the Lord is so we want to take a little time to probe this question more deeply. This sounds like a good time for a prayer. Since our kids are back in school today lets listen to a prayer for the school boards that guide our educational system. THE DEVIL AND THE DETAIL There is a lot of speculation and attributing of blame concerning how the Corona virus came into being– was it made in a laboratory and if so where? Or was it transmitted by a bat or some other animal? Some people may even ask whether it was sent by God, and if so, why? Others may believe that it was sent by the devil. In my humble opinion, which I think I share with many others - the jury is still out on the laboratory and/or the bat, and the exact whereabouts of the bat and the lab.  I don't think it was sent by the devil, but I think he is having an eventful and busy time with it. GOD'S CREATION Ultimately the virus is simply part of God's creation, along with other viruses and bacteria and microbes and plants and animals and people - these are now all part of a disordered fallen creation that fell when man and woman fell in the Garden of Eden. The creation was put out of order and into corruption through the sin of Adam and Eve. And after that happened God said to Adam ‘the ground is cursed because of you…it shall bring forth thorns and thistles (and other ugly things - Genesis 3:17).  The Bible also says that People walk on in darkness, and all the foundations of the earth have been put out of alignment (Psalm 82:5). That follows the fact that humanity is out of alignment with God and because of sin we do harm to ourselves and others and bring disorder into our world.  But the Bible also says that this curse will only last for a limited time, when God's plan of redemption is finished in the earth and the Lord returns and we are given new bodies at the Resurrection of the dead. Romans 8:19-22 … For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing (apokalypsis) of the sons of God… The creation waits with hope to be set free from the bondage of corruption, and that there will be a New heavens and new earth (Isaiah 66, 2Peter 3:10, Revelation 21). JESUS IN A FALLEN WORLD The fact is that when Jesus arrived on this planet he lived his life in a fallen world in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation. He knew he was not in control of the corruption that was going on around him politically and religiously, but he also knew that his Father was in command of everything, and that things were going according to his Father's plan.  Jesus did only what his Father told him. If his father told him to still a raging storm, it would happen, and on the other hand when Pontius Pilate said to Jesus, “Do you not know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?” Jesus didn't resist that claim but said to him, “You would have no authority over me at all unless it had been given you from above. God was in control and he had a purpose for everything and in everything that was going to happen. Jesus did not come to reform the politics of the day, he came to transform lives. So this current global pandemic was always going to happen within the purpose and plan of God. TIMES OF TRIAL We are living in times of great physical and emotional and spiritual trial in the current global pandemic, in which there is an enormous amount of strain being placed upon nations, governments, communities, corporations, churches, families and individuals.  The physical and emotional pressure that everybody is under is out in the open for all to see and to be read about and talked about everywhere.  But there is a spiritual activity of both darkness and light that all nations and all individuals at this present time are under in the unseen world of the spirit and that sits invisibly above everything else, ultimately influencing the feelings, the thinking, and the behavior of people in a far broader spiritual dimension than anyone could imagine. DARKNESS AND LIGHT The opposing spirits of darkness and light are both powerfully at work in this hour. The Bible tells us that in intense conflict between darkness and light, God says to his people that his Spirit is far more powerful than the spirit of this world – He says to us;  arise and shine, for your light has come…for darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you, and nations shall come to your light… (Isaiah 60:1) THE POWERS OF DARKNESS We will look first at the purpose and strategy of the power of the work of darkness. The purpose and strategy and the activity of darkness lurks behind the different names that darkness is known by – names such as the Devil, and Satan, and Lucifer and the god of this world, and the Prince of the power of the air, and a number of other nasty titles (Abbadon, Beelzebub etc.) All those different names that are used for the powers of darkness also portray a range of different job descriptions that can be found in those Scriptural titles; The Devil - Diabolos – to throw or let go of a thing without caring where it falls - to fragment and scatter - to create division. Satan – Satanas – the accuser and the adversary – to create judgment and vengeance and hostility. Lucifer –The fallen light giver who became the dark giver who said he would be as the Most High God (Isaiah 14:14) – and as the ‘god of this world' he blinds the minds of those who do not believe (2Corinthians 4:4) The prince of the power of the air who tempts the sons of disobedience to live for their own desires (Ephesians 2:2). THE DETAIL OF DIABOLOS Most of those dark spiritual activities found in the meanings of the names overlap in some way, such as lying and tempting and accusing, but I would like to feature the detail of the name of the Devil - Diabolos – to throw a thing - to fragment and scatter - to create division. Diabolos comes from two Greek words, dia which means through, and bolos which means to throw. The word bolos is where we get the word ball from, like throwing a ball. It is also where we get the word ‘ballistic' from, as in ballistic missile. So we have the picture of the Devil hurling destructive spiritual missiles at us to break and fragment our relationship with God and with one another and within our own souls. Diabolos doesn't care what he throws as long as it destroys oneness with God and peace with one another. DIABOLOS AND JESUS When Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil (diabolos - Matthew 4:1). Darkness came at Jesus as the Devil, the missile thrower, and he threw every missile he had at Jesus to tempt him to split off from his Father and show how powerful he could be independent of him.  The Devil even subtly taunted him with ‘If you are the Son of God turn these stones into bread!' What a victory if Jesus would have fallen for that and not remained faithful as ‘the Son of God'. Jesus didn't do anything unless his Father told him, so Jesus was able to hold things together in his heart of faith and truth and love between himself and his Father. He was integrated with his Father and was not going to be disintegrated. The disintegration of relationships is being hurled at humanity during this time of trial like never before. Jesus prophesied of times like this that would come; He said that nation would rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another, and many false prophets will arise and lead many astray, and lawlessness will increase, and the love of many would grow cold. (Matthew 24:7).   So when we look at the kind of behavior going on all over the world at the moment there is a heightened activity of people accusing one another, and violent disagreement over ideologies and medical and lifestyle and political opinions. All of this gets more heightened by the sensationalism of the media and the weird conspiracy theories broadcasted over social media. And it is difficult for people to remain objective in times like this because we often don't see things as they are, we see things as we are, but we can still discuss and debate without aggression and antagonism. THE TURNING POINT – LIGHT AND POWER God does not want us as his Church family in the earth to live in the shadow and darkness of self-opinionated hostility as so many are doing in this world, because it is the devil's work - Diabolos – to throw missiles of destruction that scatter and create hostility and division about opinions and dogmas and ideologies. That has always caused the church to lose its real power to be a light to the world in bringing God's healing and transforming of lives.  It is the work of The Spirit in us to make us one with God and with one another, and to transform lives, and to be his light in the world.  God's light in his people can overcome darkness in these days. There is a swirl of redemptive God activity around you when your light is defeating the darkness in someone else. We wait with the ONE who knows all things, in the midst of an age full of unknowns and opposing views. God is at work in and through us by his Spirit in ways beyond our understanding as he reveals truth, his way, to the hearts of men and women everywhere, through our faithful trust in him.  Jesus taught against antagonism and hostility to those who were different to us ethnically and culturally and socially and politically. He taught us about who was our neighbour in the parable of the good Samaritan. He taught us to love our enemies;  Matthew 5:44 Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven.  That is a principle of the cross, dying to things like division amongst ourselves as his family, and dying to hostility to others who do not know God, and growing in our faith and trust in God as our Father in Heaven. We know what and who we have faith in when we can name the one in whom we have absolute trust. I am grateful to the Lord for the times when I have found grace to have absolute trust in him in a matter, and to see his goodness come to pass beyond what I would have asked or thought, because I believe in this truth of surrender and in his faithfulness. And yet there are so many times when I think I have absolute trust in him and I find that residue of anxiety still there in my soul, and all I can say is that merciful verse in Mark 9:23 … Lord I believe, help my unbelief. And he remains faithful and we learn to trust even more. Jesus had absolute trust in his Father and he died and came alive again in order to live within us by the Holy Spirit and to impart into our hearts that same absolute trust in the nature of God.  True transformation means that we sometimes have to pay the price of dying to self by not having our opinion agreed with, or by losing a debate about what civil duty means or by forgiving someone who judges us unjustly. We stay on the journey of dying to ill will between ourselves and others and coming alive in absolute trust in God's love to bring peace and good will out of division and chaos. This can be how light comes in to darkness and powerfully results in someone finding truth.  While we face the uncertainty of events in this world, which is God's appointed way for us at this time in history, we put all fear aside as we live with the certainty of being led and guided by the peace of God in his world of the unseen, the world of faith and hope that is energized by his love to us and through us. Philippians 2:1 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life Shining as lights means having God on display in our lives, not in a pious or religious way, but by simply living in the flow of the powerful love of God.  1Peter 3:8 Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or insult for insult, but on the contrary, bless, for you were called to this, that you may also obtain a blessing.

Revelation 12:7-12 Series: Just Conquer #34 # Introduction We are in a particular generation of a long battle. It is a battle that began within the first few chapters of life on earth, and it is a battle that will continue until the final chapter of history. From the beginning, our enemy has been seeking our harm not mainly by direct assault, but by trying to deceive us into sin and then presenting a case to accuse us with our sin. He doesn't play fair. At the beginning of Revelation 12 John sees two signs. The first sign is of a woman, who represents Israel (verse 1), the mother of the male child who will rule the nations (verse 5). The second sign is of a dragon (verse 3), who we learn even more about in this paragraph. There is an angelic clash, and then a great victory and celebration. This "war...in heaven" has been interpreted as the war at the beginning of history, as a war around the same time as the death and resurrection of the male child, or as a war still to come at the end around the time of the Great Tribulation on earth. The third view is most likely based on the context. The vision with the signs in chapter 12 does not seem (to me) to be made up of cycles; it is *not* different perspectives on the same event. There are two events: 1) the dragon's tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth in verse 4, and now 2) the dragon brings those stars, "his angels," back to heaven in verse 7. He was angry before the male child was born, and now that the male child has been "caught up to God and to his throne," the dragon is furious with the woman. Remember verse 6. The "woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which she is to be nourished for 1,260 days." This is the same amount of time that the two witnesses gave testimony (chapter 11), the same duration of the Great Tribulation. While this woman is in the wilderness the war in heaven arises. Verse 7 belongs with the 1,260 days, meaning it belongs at the end. # Thrown Down (verses 7-9) **And there became war in heaven, Michael and his angels [began] to wage war with the dragon. And the dragon waged war and also his angels, and they were not strong, neither a place was found for them again in heaven.** We don't get to see a lot of what happens in heaven, only glimpses in God's Word. We do know from the book of Job that Satan and the "sons of God" go back and forth between earth and heaven, even presenting themselves before God (Job 1:6; 2:1). It will be significant to recall the sorts of things that Satan brought to God's attention about Job in a moment. In Revelation 12 there is a division of spiritual forces that come to heaven with the dragon, presumably to attack the male child who had already ascended there. This is *not* an ancient battle at the beginning of time since the male child has already come to earth, but this war is related to the 1,260 days when the woman fled into the wilderness (12:6). The dragon and his forces are met, not by the Messiah, but rather by Michael. **Michael** is an archangel, named only a couple times in the Old Testament (Daniel 10:13, 21 and 12:1). What is more interesting than the rank he holds, is that he doesn't attain to the rank of the male child, the Lord's Anointed Son, and Satan still can't defeat him. Michael and the devil have already fought before (Jude 9). He is a guardian of Israel. > “At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book." (Daniel 12:1) Michael *has* angels; they are called **his**. We could say that he outranks them, they are given to him as a unit. Likewise John refers to the dragon and **his angels**, which I believe are the "stars" he brought with him in the previous paragraph. The dragon and his angels were not able to win, **he was defeated** or “were not strong,” and **a place was not found for them in heaven**, meaning that they were decisively defeated and kicked out. In the rest of the Apocalypse we do not see them making an appearance in heaven again. Satan is no longer permitted before God: **Thrown down…thrown down…thrown down.** **And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world--he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.** We learn more about Satan in this verse than perhaps any other single verse in Scripture. _Paradise Lost_ is fun, but not inspired. He is the **great dragon**, which John saw as a sign in verse 3. There he is associated with earthly kingdoms, which we'll see more about in chapter 17. As a dragon he is connected to all the mythology of chaos and devouring. He is also known as **that ancient serpent**, meaning that this dragon is one and the same with the serpent in Eden (Genesis 3:1), the one who accused God of selfishness and deceived Eve into disobeying the only rule God gave the first couple. Serpents, and snakes, have their slithering and crafty characteristics because of this serpent. He is "the one being called **Devil and the Satan**. These two names basically mean the same thing: adversary or opponent, especially an enemy who slanders. *Diabolos* is the primary Greek word, and *Satanas* is a Greek word that comes from the Hebrew word *satan*. The particular kind of adversary is one who is given to accusations. The devil is a liar, a murderer, an accuser. He is **the deceiver of the whole world**; it's what he's good at. We know that he deceived Eve, but this is his nature. He blinds men with lies. He confuses and sows doubt and division; that's what accusations accomplish. He keeps men from a knowledge of the truth. He's been given a measure of authority by God so that the whole world lies under his power and influence. It's only due to Christ that any are transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. But his power to deceive is delegated and temporary. He has already been defeated by the male child, and here **he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.** He can't win. # Exclamatory Explanation (verses 10-12) There are various Greek plays in which action is interpreted by the chorus (Osborne). Here the celebration explains some of what just happened. The **loud voice** tells us the implications of the war in verses 7-9. Though "voice" is singular, the **our** that occurs three times, and especially the "our brothers" is a singular voice of many, in particular, the many saints who are already in heaven. ## The Accuser Is Defeated **And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.** These are standard issue song lyrics about the sovereign God. His **salvation** is His work of deliverance. His **power** is the strength that brings about His will. When the voice says that **the kingdom of our God and authority of his Christ have come** it means that there will be no more enemies in his way. Namely, the **accuser** is beat. **The accuser** has a rough job, but one that he relishes, not just that he was assigned. He is like a prosecuting attorney, but he doesn't have to look far for evidence. Note a few things. He's called **the accuser** because he is characterized by it. He accuses **our brothers**, meaning that he doesn't accuse unbelievers, but those who make some sort of claim to salvation in Christ. He accuses **before God**, to the one who knows righteousness, and who knows the thoughts and intentions of men, not just all their behavior, and every word. So the accuser works **day and night**, any time he wants, including the night shift. This is his spirit. He is the ultimate church lady, the ultimate Pharisee, the ultimate in what nowadays people call being “woke.” As often as the living creatures praise (Revelation 4:8), the dragon slanders. But he is defeated, and his being **thrown down** is due to Michael's win, which was guaranteed by the Child's resurrection. ## The Accuser Is Defeated by the Saints **And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.** Perhaps this is *the central verse in the Apocalypse*, at least in terms of the faithfulness of the righteous. Here are more than conquerers. They do not conquer by their strength. Everything we have, every argument we make is **by the blood of the Lamb**. When we stand before God we will not make a claim to our righteousness apart from Christ. If we were allowed to speak in the courtroom, we could listen to the accuser present the case against us, and then look at the Judge, and say, "He is totally correct." And after the accuser laughed that he got us to admit our guilt, we would say, "But we stand with the Lamb who ransomed us from our sin. He take His atonement. He declares us righteous. He is the one ‘who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood' (Revelation 1:5).” We would say it then, and it is our message even now. The conquering happens **by the word of their testimony**. The love and sacrifice and blood of the Lamb is our life. And because of that, we love nothing about our lives that are not from Him and through Him and for Him. We can receive whatever blessings He sends, and we can bless Him whatever He takes away (Job 1:21). **They loved not their lives even unto death.** “Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also, the body they may kill, God's truth abideth still.” What can you do to a person like this? Their life is a weapon, a seed sown for a great harvest. I believe that, while we get great application, this paragraph is written about a future generation of Israelites that will be saved, the “woman” in the wilderness. Think of the extra material that the accuser has about the Jews. They killed their own Messiah. Even now, except for a remnant, they continue to reject the Messiah. But as Paul wrote, there is coming a time when they will be grafted back into Christ as the root (Romans 11), and not only will they receive Christ, they will imitate Him by following Him even to death. ## The Defeated Accuser Is Angry **Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!"** As there are two sides in the battle, there will be rejoicing among the conquerers and pain among the defeated. Here the **heavens** are called to **rejoice**. The accuser has been sent packing with all of his bad news and bitterness. As for the **earth and sea**, it's not good: **the devil has come down to you in great wrath.** The great dragon is greatly peeved, not because he's been insulted, but because he's been shown the door. He's passionately mad. Depending on how far you look ahead, this is *pessimistic*. The primary target of his wrath is Israel according to the next paragraph. **He knows that his time is short!** If this is the end time battle, the same as the three and a half years (11:2-3; 12:6, 14), the dragon has an extra level of wrath to pour out in the tribulation. He's still deceiving and accusing today; it's his standard operating procedure, though the clock is ticking. # Conclusion This is a perfect “just conquer” reminder. --- ## Charge The devil knows his time is short, so he's stirred up to hate and evil works. That *you* know that the devil's time is short ought to make you more bold. Do good like there's no tomorrow, because there will be a tomorrow when Satan's smack talk is silenced. Jesus said to count the cost of following Him, but He said it as an *incentive* for believers, and promised His grace for every step. ## Benediction: > [Y]our obedience is known to all, so that I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise as to what is good and innocent as to what is evil. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. (Romans 16:19–20, ESV)

Mary talks about the long, unclear, and absolutely horrific murder of Baylee Wylie. Strong trigger warning for the second part, folks - there is torture, stabbing, and drug use discussed heavily.

Ultima Final Fantasy | The Ultimate Final Fantasy Podcast

We've done it! We finished Rhapsodies of Vana'diel, and will be putting FF XI behind us..... Or will we?!?!?!!? Find out soon! Rhapsodies of Vana’diel Rhapsodies of Vana’diel is the final expansion/add on for Final Fantasy XI. It was released in thirds: part one in May 2015, part two in August 2015, and part three in November of 2015. The game was designed by producer Akihko Matsui, and the extremely memorable final themesong was composed by longtime FFXI mixmaster Naoshi Mizuta. Rhapsodies was meant to be a sending off for Final Fantasy XI, as well as a big thank you to players for their years of service within the game.   Story Rhapsodies begins with our heroine, Iroha, visiting the great crystal and voicing her need to visit Reisenjima to warn her master… We then meet up with captain Gilgamesh, who claims that he found a woman on a rowboat who cried out Elhusk. Since, at this point, Elhusk was in a relationship with Lion, he had no choice but to investigate. This is where we formally meet Iroha, who claims to be our future scullion or something, and wants to stop the Emptiness from consuming Vana’diel. Iroha dissolves, and the Reisen Shrine orb we’re holding brings us to the mothercrystals Holla, Dem, and Mea. A vortex appears, and a monster with it, in Quifim Island. We impale the beast, and enter the vortex. And then we see him. The masked man…. Dun Dun DUNNN!!! We enter an alternate Zi’Tah where the Emptiness totally won, and swallowed life. Lions spirit takes form, and she adds herself to the Reisen Shrine orb. Once the shadow lord is defeated in the original storyline, we are able to go through Reisenjima’s gates. About a year later, when we finally jumped back into the game, we meet up with the man in the mask, who has Siren fight Elhusk. Elhusk, being the stout warrior that he is, defeats siren while barely taking damage. Siren is released from the masked man’s thrall, and let’s us know that Iroha will reappear again. Then we have a bit of a world tour, getting Tenzen and Prishe to add their powers to the Reisen Shrine Orb. We then move to visit another past girlfriend, Nashmeria, who informs us of the masked man using power from the future to open these portals. The masked man breaks into the Walahra temple, and tries to siphon the Astral Candescence’s power, but is stopped. We head to the Alzadaal Undersea Ruins. Phoenix reaches out to Alexander, requesting some of his power to help sustain Iroha’s existence. He obliges, and we then head to meet up with Cait Sith, who confirms that the future we saw earlier where the emptiness had consumed everything wasn’t a forbidden one, thus Atomos cannot consume it. Cait Sith then suggests we get in touch with Altana to protect Iroha. We then meet up with yet another past sweetheart, Lilisette. She heard that Elhusk had become a god, so she adds her light to the Reisen Shrine orb, and vows to find a way to contact Altana. The masked man stole away Atomos’ power, and took off. We then meet up with Iroha, who is a complete BEAST now, by the way. Iroha claims that Siren and herself are abominations to the world. We of course reassure her that she’s the bomb, but she never listens. We then train, and head to Ugilappeh to speak to Grav’iton Berrisaci, who informs us that we must pass through a mothercrystal to cross into the realm of the gods. We then meet up with Selh’teus and some baddies, who are trapped in the crystal. Siren shows up again, and helps Iroha, and Siren Prime, try to banish all who do not belong. Tenzen stops the show, since he doesn’t want Iroha to leave. She’s pretty mad about this, but whatever. We meet up with Dr Shantotto, who gives us Koru-Moru’s magic doll to point us in the right direction. We head to Escha - Ru’An and encounter our old friend Balamor, who has stolen Selh’teus’s crystal energy, and wants to create a world of his own. He goes super sayan, and we whoop his ass. Selh’teus then reveals his plan to become the new mothercrystal. Then the big reveal: The dark man is Elhusks future dark side, created to fight the darkness, but failed. Elhusk defeats bizarro Elhusk, and sends him off Boromir style. We then get a sweet vision showing all of those we’ve beaten down. Then we head to the Reisenjima Sanctorum. Reisenjima is revealed to be the site of our last stand, and an ethereal shield is erected to save it from the void. In deciding to gather light, Elhusk creates bizarro Elhusk, who gathers darkness. We then head to Adoulin, seeking Arciela’s advice. Balamor has been travelling many different worlds, but many were swallowed by emptiness. He is pretty stoked on the Reisen Shrine orb, though, and gives us some of himself just to see things unfold. We head to the Hall of the Gods, where it’s revealed that darkness will descend when the five mothercrystals shatter, and rejoining them will bring Paradise, yet end Vana’diel. Selh’teus then offers Elhusk the power of the crystal in order to become a god. We then fight an ascended form of Promathia, a dragon named Sempurne. Elhusk crushes this scrub, and meets up with bizarrro Elhusk. The time to fight is now. The darkness sends out a ton of those Sin Scale things at the beginning of X, and all of our favorite characters wreck their faces and drive the darkness back for now. Then comes the most frustrating quest in the game…. Panopt hunting… We are tasked with killing 11 of these fuckers, and being the stalwart hero he is, Elhusk also decided to take on the king of the panopts in a gruelling, twenty minute fight. With the panopts dead, order has been restored to the lifestream, allowing Selh’teus to regain his powers. We then meet up with Altana, who asks Bizarro Elhusk and Elhusk to fight to the death. Bizarro Elhusk is revealed to be Metus, but it’s no matter. Elhusk triumphs. Everyone is super stoked, but then the Cloud of Darkness begins corrupting the mothercrystal. We can’t really destroy the thing though, and the Phoenix Blade leads us to a stone circle in La Theine, where the Gods enter the material plane. We then pack our Reisen Shrine orb with the powers of Alexander, Odin, Ifrit, Shiva, Ramuh, Titan, Garuda, Leviathan, Atomos, Cait Sith, Diabolos, Fenrir, and Bahamut. We head for the Sanctorium for the final fight. All of our previous expansions heroines trust forms are auto summoned fight tooth and nail to stymie the advance of the Claws of Darkness. We then get a fucking ballin cutscene where Iroha is given all the power of the Shrine Orb, and Phoenix is restored to full power. This causes the Cloud of Darkness to manifest in physical form, and now we commence the final fight. Which was a BITCH! Special shoutout to Abbu for helping us out. Elhusk’s body couldn’t survive the clas, and must find respite in the mothercrystal. The only way his light will shine in this world again will be through a chorus of life, crying out through time and space; The Rhapsodies of Vana’diel. Iroha donates her hair to us, which is good since I’m totally losing mine, and disappears once again. Then the final song picks up, and we hear the Rhapsody to rival Queen’s.   The Song The expansion is so very much a thank you to fans, that Mizuta came up with the idea of asking players to contribute to the final song. Indeed, the voices that ring out during the final cutscene of the game are none other than adventurers from Vana’diel! How fucking cool is that?! Square Enix had a page dedicated to fan submissions of “la la la’s”. There is a zip file of the music, a vocal sample, and the music sheet. They requested that users submit the file along with their character name, so they could get the recognition. It was available to active players and unsubscribed ones alike. Unfortunately, the voices of Nooborious and Elhusk are not among those singing the rhapsody.   The Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVZgBk7_jTM

Ultima Final Fantasy | The Ultimate Final Fantasy Podcast

This week, Kaleb and Joe discuss the storyline in Chains of Promathia. We're currently about halfway through The Treasures of Aht Urghan. Chains of Promathia   Final Fantasy XI: Chains of Promathia was released on September 16th, 2004 in Japan, and September 21st, 2004 everywhere else. This is the only expansion thus far that didn’t include new jobs. Just like with Rise of the Zilart, the games main composer and arranger is Naoshi Mizuta. We also get a return of XI’s Distant Worlds, featureing Izumi Masuda.   Story- The story starts out in Delkfutt’s Tower, with a bunch of Jeunoan scientists getting blasted by an explosion, due to a reversal of the energy flow to the crystal. The Ducal guard rush to the scene, and encounter a boy, who they take back to Jeuno. When we visit the kid, he gives us an amulet.   We skip a bit ahead, where Bahamut emerges from the water, giving us a warning that the Keeper of the Apocalypse is near. We then adventure to the three crags, Holla, Mea, and Dem, and are drawn into Promyvion. We defeat the enemies in this area, and come to the MotherCrystal. It is here that we run into Nag’molada, a Juenian diplomat. He attempts to slay the adventurer, to keep the crystal safe, but is stopped by the mysterious boy from earlier. When we reach a later crag, Nag’molada reveals that the boy has released Emptiness, a destructive force, on the crystal.   Once we defeat the Empty at the mothercrystal, we travel to the Tavnazian Archipelago for the first time. When we’re unconscious, a group of Tarutaru’s, the Chebukki Siblings, steal our amulet to take to the leader of Tavnazia, Prishe.   Prishe returns to town with her friend Ulmia after checking the area out. She informs the party of monsters amassing at Cape Riverne. Prishe returns our amulet, which is oddly identical to hers. Prise then wants to confront Bahamut in Cape Riverne for answers, and finds out that Nag’molada and the Chebukki triplets are already there. We run into Nag’molada singing an ancient song to Bahamut, proving that he is a Kuluu. Bahamut decides to honor the ancient pact made with the Kuluu ages prior. Bahamut is subdued by Esha’ntarl, a Zilart, subdues Bahamut in a magic web.   We then travel to Jeuno and turn ourselves in. We are wanted for treason, after all… We speak with Esha’ntarl, who by the way is smokin', suspects that the young man from earlier in the game is the Keeper of the Apocalypse, and charges us with capturing him to prove his innocence.   We then embark on a comical quest in Windhurst, where the Chebukki triplets are attempting to find their long lost father. Prishe is hospitalized, and given your amulet to stabilize her condition. The boy is spotted in Pso’Xja, and we head there. We then battle Diabolos, and realize we’ve been drawn into a dreamworld. The boy arrives, and rescues Prishe. We also find out that Tenzen, another of our companions, has a blade that houses Phoenix. Phoenix requests help from Diabolos, but instead is offered to stay in the dream world to avoid the shittiness of reality. It should be noted that Phoenix and Diabolos are two of the five terrestrial avatars charged with the protection of Vana’diel. The others are Carbuncle, Fenrir, and Bahamut. The party then seeks out Bahamut again, searching for answers.   We meet up with Bahamut, and request his aid. He sends one of his cronies after us, and we kill it. Afterwards, Bahamut tells Phoenix that she’s wasting her time, and that the Emptiness will win. The party recognizes a song that Phoenix starts singing, and Bahamut and his wyrms. We find out that the Emptiness is the will of the Twilight God, Promathia, who cursed mankind for trying to reach Paradise.   Prishe then reveals that she had an accident as a child when she came into contact with the baptismal vessel deep below the church, which has stopped her aging. We travel to a statue of Promathia, where he reveals that he desires resurrection, and death.   The party heads to Pso’Xja to arrive at the Vazhl mothercrystal. Nag’molada and the boy both appear, and it is revealed that the baptismal vessel is actually the Eye of Altana, used to turn Emptiness into Magicite. The amulet that we were given was once given to the Kuluu by the Zilart to contain the darkness. It also allows you to communicate directly with the mind of another. SHINING!!!!!! We finally get the boys name, although I wish you luck in pronouncing it; Selh’teus. He is the sole survivor of the disaster at Al’Taieu, that destroyed the place thousands of years ago. We wake in Promyvion, and have to rescue Tenzen, Louverance, and Ulmia, who have been captured within the darkness. We meet up with Diabolos and Prishe, and discover that Selh’teus came from Al’Taieu to protect the celestial capital, which wasn’t destroyed, only hidden beyond the fifth mothercrystal. Prishe then resolves to kill The Keeper of the Apocalypse, which will allow Bahamut to not kill everyone.   Prishe goes missing for a little bit, and the party splits up to investigate. We meet up with my favorite character of this expansion, a Galka named Jabbos. Jabbos has what I’d imagine is the voice of Christian Bale’s Batman, as he speaks…..and then…..pauses….a…..lot….. He’s been living with Moblins for far too long, and the beastmen have begun to think that they are the children of Promathia. The beasts believe that they are, and continue digging ith this expectation, but Jabbos knows that the Moblins were born long after Promathia had died. They get pissed when they find out, and Jabbos joins up.   We then find out that Prishe has a bit o magicite stuck in her chest, which is probably just as uncomfortable as it sounds. She runs off, and  Bahamut is found beyond the sea of clouds, and Cid begins working on an airship that can reach him. Prishe is spotted in Jeuno, and we head to find the little shit.   The NPC’s Tenzen, Louverance, Jabbos, and Shirakee Z… ugh… all come to the conclusion that Prishe is the Keeper of the Apocalypse who is intended to awaken the Twilight God, using the power of song.   Esha’ntarl reveals that defeating the Keeper of the Apocalypse will only set the darkness free to possess another, and that the only way to break the cycle is to resurrect Promathia, and defeat him in God form in front of the mothercrystal. The party gets on Cid’s airship, and meets up with Prishe and Bahamut. She reasons with Bahamut, and he reveals that she is no longer the Keeper of the Apocalypse, and that the true keeper is in Al’Taieu. Bahamut then reveals a crazy plan to destroy mankind in order to keep Promathia from enveloping everything, and entering Vana’diel. He then attacks us with Megaflare, and is blocked by Tenzen, and his Phoenix blade. We jump ship. We failed to outright defeat Bahamut, and Phoenix sacrificed herself, making ole Tenzen’s blade normal, and boring. Cid mentions a red light shooting up from the Sea of Shu’Meyo has appeared. He sends us out to get supplies, and studies the Eye of Altana to repair the airship. The airship is hijacked by the Chebukki triplets, and Tenzen. Tenzen was instructed by Phoenix to kill the Adventurer, but obviously gets his ass whooped. We then get teleported to the fifth mothercrystal in Al’Taieu.   In Al’Taieu, we are beckoned to the Grand Palace of Hu’Xzoi. We enter, and regain the light of the four other mothercrystals. Selh’teus explains that the Emptiness extracted from the Kuluu had been manifested into Promathia, and had been sealed in the audience chamber. Nag’molada breaks the seal, and frees Promathia. Nag’molada is swallowed in Emptiness, teaching him that all the children of Vana’diel were born from Promathia. The god then attempts to get in.   We join Prishe in the Empyreal Paradox, where Selh’teus attempts to slow Promathia down. Then, the epic fight… When Promathia reaches his end, Prishe casts the Star of Tavnazia at him, and we unleash the light of the mother crystals, allowing the tears of Altana to rain down upon us. Promathia is crushed, and returns to the mothercrystal. Emptiness is revealed as the physical manifestation of death itself, and even the god Promathia, would die when faced against it. We again learn about the origins of Vana’diel, and all of it’s races. Everyone goes their separate ways, and Prishe’s magicite melts away, making her mortal once again.   The Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSt8vifJG38&list=PL85AED8D3D495397D&index=21

There is a supernatural aspect to history that we do not often discuss because the world is convinced that there is no supernatural realm.  Our platform of existence is infused with the supernatural though we like to believe that we are mere psycho-physical beings.  We are more than the firing of synapses and neuro-pathways.  We are unitary beings who can see only one one-millionth of the electromagnetic spectrum.  The optic nerve is not all-seeing, and many of us have never ventured into inter-planetary travel.  There is a primal world where the happenings within our sphere are completely known by beings that are not of our world.  God is in control of that world as he is of ours.  He knows the doings and end of the nefarious one, the Devil.
