Alcuni, come i famosi papiri di Ercolano, vanno nascosti, e la biblioteca stessa, uno spazio prezioso di studio e di cultura, deve essere difesa: cosa non facile, mentre piovono le bombe e si diffonde lo sciacallaggio.Quando poi i tedeschi in ritirata si danno alla razzia più sfrenata, la posta in gioco si alza e Guerriera sarà costretta a un avventuroso viaggio per tentare di salvare i suoi amati libri.Questo romanzo è la storia di una battaglia: contro il fuoco delle armi, i furti, le spoliazioni. Contro l'indifferenza dei burocrati e la protervia degli eserciti occupanti.Contro tutti e con pochissimi alleati, tra cui Maria, una ragazza del popolo che la bibliotecaria ha preso sotto la sua protezione ma che a un certo punto dovrà chiedersi a chi va la sua lealtà. Vincenza Alfano fa rivivere con Guerriera Guerrieri, eroina romanzesca suo malgrado, una protagonista unica della storia napoletana: una campionessa di resistenza, di libertà e di amore per i libri.Vincenza Alfano, napoletana, è scrittrice, giornalista, docente di italiano e latino. Collabora con la pagina culturale del «Corriere del Mezzogiorno», dove scrive di libri e di eventi culturali con interviste ad autori e personaggi di rilievo. Pochi attimi dopo, intento a rianimare il giovane nel fango, si trova al fianco di Plinio il Vecchio e della consorte dell'imperatore, Agrippina. Non sa di aver appena salvato il figlio adottivo del Divo Cesare Claudio, che sarà ricordato nei secoli con il nome di Nerone. Non sa che la sua vita sta per cambiare, e che il Fato lo porterà a Roma, alla corte imperiale. La sua è una storia epica. Amico fraterno di Nerone, sceglie la via delle armi e diventa uomo e soldato in Germania, combattendo contro i popoli barbari al fianco del futuro imperatore Vespasiano e di suo figlio Tito. Tornerà poi in Italia, e sarà comandante in seconda di Plinio il Vecchio, ammiraglio della flotta di Capo Miseno. Così, inesorabilmente, si avvicina l'anno di una delle più grandi catastrofi del mondo antico: il 79 d.C. Cristina Fantini segue una traccia storica, il ritrovamento dei resti di un ufficiale romano e di altri trecento corpi, e utilizza gli strumenti del romanzo per conferirgli nuova vita. Alessia Gazzola coinvolgerà il pubblico nelle indagini della sua investigatrice improvvisata nella Londra degli anni Venti (Miss Bee e il fantasma dell'ambasciata, Sala Capriate, ore 16) e Marco Scardigli narrerà la storia del patriota Luciano Manara, che lottò per un'Italia che non riuscì a vedere (Storia di un memorabile perdente, Sala Cornaggia, ore 17). Aneddoti e pettegolezzi sul Settecento inglese arriveranno nelle sale del Castello Visconteo grazie a Francesca Sgorbati Bosi e Irene Merli (Guida pettegola al Settecento inglese, Cenobio, ore 17). Si proseguirà con una visita immaginaria degli edifici di Padova in cui hanno vissuto grandi personaggi ripercorrendo le vie della città insieme a Silvia Gorgi (Le case straordinarie di Padova, Sala Crivelli, ore 16.30) e successivamente Franco Cardini accompagnerà il pubblico in un viaggio storico nella capitale austriaca (Vienna, Sala Previati, ore 17.30). Il pomeriggio si concluderà con Marilù Oliva che racconterà le donne della Bibbia dando loro la parola per narrare un altro punto di vista, quello femminile (La Bibbia raccontata da Eva, Giuditta, Maddalena e le altre, Cenobio, ore 18.30).Matteo Strukul chiuderà la terza giornata della manifestazione trasportando il pubblico in una Venezia sotterranea e inedita, teatro di due brutali omicidi (La cripta di Venezia, Sala Capriate, ore 21).Lunedì 7 aprile alle 21 al Teatro Tirinnanzi avrà luogo la chiusura ufficiale del Festival, affidata a Beppe Severgnini che, partendo dal suo libro Socrate, Agata e il futuro, farà una riflessione sul tempo che passa e gli anni complicati che stiamo vivendo.Un'attenzione particolare è riservata a bambini e ragazzi che potranno partecipare a letture e laboratori a tema storico, con momenti di gioco anche per i più piccoli. Il programma del sabato prevede un incontro con Lodovica Cima che racconta il suo libro Sylvie sogni di seta (Sala Fiamma, ore 11) e uno con Fabrizio Altieri sul libro Omicidio sull'Hindenburg (Sala Fiamma, ore 16). Se poi si considera che le piante sono esseri non solo senzienti ma intelligenti, allora il nostro pregiudizio antropocentrico, già vacillante, crolla del tutto. Se per intelligenza s'intende l'attitudine alla risoluzione dei problemi, le piante vanno ritenute intelligenti a pieno titolo: le loro capacità di adattamento e di previsione sono formidabili. La sfortuna delle piante è che il loro comportamento sfugge alla nostra vista. Ecco perché il Coro da un lato celebra la potenza dell'uomo di trasformare e dominare la natura mediante la tecnica, dall'altro evoca il rischio che questa stessa potenza – il cui limite è solo la morte – induca l'uomo a «strisciare» verso il male.  Cosa manca al nostro tempo dell'effimero?Forse un paradigma interpretativo, ancorato alla memoria del passato ma capace di orientare il futuro. Perché la storia non è un fluire incessante: se si trovano adeguati strumenti di lettura, noteremo l'esistenza di avvenimenti che offrono occasioni per riflettere sulla vita collettiva.La cassetta degli attrezzi la mettono a disposizione i classici, libri che non offrono soluzioni semplificate, ma ripropongono antichi dilemmi, non presentano un'immagine unilaterale ed edulcorata dell'uomo e del mondo, ma danno da pensare.Da questa idea nasce il Festival del Classico, lezioni, dialoghi, letture, dispute dialettiche, presentazione di libri, spettacoli teatrali, alimentati dalle parole della letteratura e della filosofia, sullo sfondo della storia.Gennaro Carillo è professore ordinario di Storia del pensiero politico nel Dipartimento di Scienze umanistiche dell'Università Suor Orsola Benincasa di Napoli, dove insegna anche Storia della tradizione classica e Storia della filosofia antica e medievale. Ha lavorato su Vico, oltre che sulla filosofia antica e in particolare su Platone. Ha scritto anche sulla storiografia, i tragici, i comici. Si è occupato di Balzac, tra i moderni. Tra i contemporanei, di Simone Weil. Ripercorre da anni il tema mitico di Atteone nelle sue riscritture infinite.
