In this episode of Resiliency Radio with Dr. Jill, Dr. Jill Carnahan sits down with Dr. John Demartini, a world-renowned human behavior expert, bestselling author, and founder of the Demartini Institute, to explore the deeper meaning behind physical symptoms and chronic illness. Together, they discuss how symptoms may serve as powerful messages rather than random malfunctions, revealing underlying emotional, psychological, and physiological imbalances. Dr. Demartini shares insights from five decades of research into human behavior, neuroscience, philosophy, and healing, offering a unique perspective on the mind-body connection and the role of purpose, gratitude, and self-awareness in wellness. This thought-provoking conversation challenges conventional views of disease and invites listeners to discover how understanding the body's messages can unlock greater health, resilience, and fulfillment.
Learn about the Healing Power of Prolonged Fasting: HEREWhat if the secret to deep healing isn't doing more, but going further? Most people assume that repeating short fasts is just as powerful as completing one long fast. Stack enough three-day fasts together and you'll eventually get the same result, right? It's a reasonable assumption, but it may be costing you the deeper healing you're working so hard to reach.Dr. Katie breaks down something many people have never been taught: short fasts and prolonged fasts are not the same healing tool. Short fasts are genuinely valuable. They can support ketosis, lower insulin, improve metabolic flexibility, and put pressure on cancer cells. Dr. Katie does a three-day fast herself every month. But she says they stop short of the second tier. That second tier begins after the early detox window, when the body moves into a much deeper fasting state. Around day eight is the threshold where the fast stops being just a metabolic tool and begins to reveal a much deeper layer of healing. Dr. Katie believes most people never reach because they keep restarting the clock.Chapters:00:04:22 - Why Short Fasts Reset the Clock00:05:21 - Detox Starts After Day Four00:06:21 - Why Long Fasts Need Supervision00:07:23 - The Danger of Refeeding Wrong00:08:21 - The Magic of Day Eight00:09:31 - The Body Targets Damaged Tissue00:10:22 - When Tumor Shrinkage Becomes Possible00:12:17 - The Mind Finally Quiets00:13:20 - Healing Crises Begin00:16:49 - Why You Can't Stack Short Fasts00:17:32 - Cancer Deserves the Full Distance00:18:52 - The Brain Tumor That Disappeared00:19:45 - Why Refeeding Matters Most00:21:00 - Fasting Opens Emotional Healing00:23:19 - What Cancer Experts Would Do00:24:45 - Physical and Emotional Healing Arrive TogetherEvery time you break a fast, your body doesn't just pause. Happy Sunday! Welcome to Heal Squad's The Sunday Set Up. Life lessons to help you start the week. This week, we're talking about a list most of us never make—and why it may be more important than the one we look at every day. The To-Done List. Most of us live inside our To-Do Lists. Pay the bills. Lose the weight. Build the business. Raise the kids. Heal the trauma. Get healthier. Get organized. Get somewhere. The problem? The list never ends. And because the list never ends, neither does the feeling that we're behind. But science tells us something fascinating: the human brain wasn't designed for gratitude. It was designed for survival. Researchers call it negativity bias. Our brains naturally give more attention, more memory space, and more emotional weight to problems, criticism, and unfinished business than to accomplishments, victories, or progress. In fact, studies show negative experiences can have three to five times more psychological impact than positive ones. Which means many of us are walking around forgetting the mountains we've already climbed while obsessing over the next one. This week, we explore why builders, caregivers, achievers, and over-givers are especially vulnerable to what Keven calls "achievement amnesia"—the tendency to forget what you've survived, built, contributed, and overcome. Most importantly, we introduce a simple but powerful practice: creating a To-Done List. A record not of what still needs fixing, but of what you've already done. What you've survived. Who you've helped. What you've learned. What you've carried. What you've become. Because maybe the problem isn't that you're behind. Maybe you've simply spent too much time staring at your To-Do List and not enough time honoring your To-Done List. This week, become the historian of your own life. The science says it can reduce stress, improve mood, increase resilience, and help restore perspective. More importantly, it may remind you of something you've forgotten: You've already come a lot farther than you think. Have a great week, Heal Squad. We'll talk shawtly. When do we get to the point in life when we begin to lose just as often as we win? Career restarts, divorces, the death of a parent, the loss of a friend? For Chris Jones it all began roughly a decade ago, when he discovered his wife's romantic texts with his close male friend, and his marriage ended abruptly with a single sentence: "I saw it all. I'm done." That moment led Jones - an award-winning writer for Esquire, The Atlantic and ESPN - into a new phase of his life, when introspection, vulnerability, and love for a blue collar English soccer team gave him perspective on what it means to win and lose in life. On this episode of Paternal, Jones recounts the moment he discovered his wife's infidelity, why his therapist recommended he consider picking up trash around town, and how he used soccer to connect with his English ancestors and his teenaged son during a time when he needed a win more than ever. Jones' new memoir Legs Hearts Minds is available wherever you buy books. He has appeared on Paternal twice in the past, in 2021 and again in 2022.

Discover how to tap into your body's ultimate internal repair system and unlock the hidden regenerative power of your own stem cells. In this episode of Modern Healthspan, we explore the extraordinary capability of the human body to heal itself from within. Stem cell scientist Christian Drapeau breaks down how our bone marrow acts as a continuous engine for cellular renewal, deploying stem cells to target, repair, and revitalize damaged tissues. While our natural baseline release shifts over time, groundbreaking clinical data reveals that we can actively encourage our body to release fresh waves of its own stem cells into circulation. We discuss a remarkable six-month human trial where daily stem cell mobilization successfully helped restore normal heart function in chronic heart failure patients. You will also learn practical protocols to optimize this internal repair system using fasting, blood flow support, and advanced recovery tools like PEMF to guide these powerful cells exactly where your body needs them most.

Emmy's first birth experience ended in a way no one imagines: an "emergency" cesarean under general anesthesia. Her son was welcomed into life by strangers rather than into the loving arms of his mother and father, a source of pain that stayed with her for a long time. Determined to have a different experience with future pregnancies, Emmy began exploring her options and learning more about physiological birth. Her journey ultimately led her to have two subsequent home births: one attended by a midwife and another supported by her sister. Through these experiences, she discovered the healing power of informed decision-making, trusting her instincts, and creating the birth environment she desired. A pivotal part of Emmy's healing journey was finding Birth Story Medicine, a counseling process that helps mothers process their birth experiences. Paid Subscribers can view the video directly in Substack. In this episode of Psalms for the Spirit, we are joined by Karen Campbell for a rich conversation about lament, healing, and the enduring relevance of the Psalms ~ particularly in the context of post-conflict Northern Ireland. Karen is a musician, a Presbyterian pastor, and a peacebuilder currently serving with the Irish Council of Churches. Having lived and ministered in Northern Ireland, Kenya, and the United States, she brings a rich understanding of how faith, music, and storytelling can help communities move through pain toward reconciliation and hope. The conversation centers around Considering Lament, a powerful project developed in response to the legacy of the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Over several years, Karen and her collaborators gathered with communities across the country to explore the Psalms of lament alongside personal stories of grief, silence, violence, and healing. Together, they created new psalm settings, liturgies, and musical resources that give people permission to bring their pain honestly before God.Throughout the episode, we reflect on the difficult beauty of the lament Psalms, the role of worship in healing trauma, and the ways music can create safe spaces for truth-telling and reconciliation. Karen also shares deeply moving stories from the project, including reflections on silence, justice, forgiveness, and what she describes as “the sound of reconciliation.”“The opposite of lament is not praise ~ it's dishonesty,” says Karen Campbell. This episode is an invitation to rediscover the honesty of the Psalms and to remember that God welcomes not only praise, but also grief, anger, confusion, and longing for healing.Rev. Karen Campbell is the General Secretary of the Irish Council of Churches, from County Armagh, ordained within the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and ministered in County Antrim and Grand Rapids. There are moments in life when we are gently—or sometimes not so gently—called back to ourselves. For many of us, that call comes through nature. This week, we're joined by Dr. Lindsay Branham, environmental psychologist, filmmaker, and author of Heartwood. After a successful career as a war journalist and documentary filmmaker working in some of the world's most challenging environments, Lindsay found herself facing a profound health crisis during the pandemic. What began as a search for physical healing became something much deeper: a relationship with the natural world that transformed her understanding of wellness, spirituality, and what it truly means to belong. In this deeply moving conversation, Lindsay shares how the forests became a teacher, guide, and healing companion during one of the most difficult seasons of her life. Together, we explore the idea that nature isn't just something we visit, it's something we can be in relationship with throughout our lives.WE EXPLOREHow chronic illness and uncertainty became an unexpected doorway to healingThe powerful idea that "the Earth is our first sacred text"What it means to be in relationship with trees, forests, and the living worldHow nature can help us reconnect with our intuition, spirit, and sense of belongingLindsay's spiritual journey—from childhood wonder to faith deconstruction and beyondThe concept of non-dual consciousness and why it changes how we view ourselves and the worldThe limitations of viewing healing through a purely physical lensWhy so many of us feel disconnected—and how nature offers a path back homePractical ways to begin listening more deeply to the natural world around youA FEW TAKEAWAYSHealing isn't always about fixing what's broken—it can be about learning how to be in relationship with what is.Nature has wisdom to offer if we're willing to slow down and listen. We are not separate from the Earth; we are part of it.Sometimes our greatest challenges become invitations into a deeper life. This conversation is a reminder that the answers we seek may not always come from doing more. Stephanie Thaler has lived many lives in one. She survived thyroid cancer at 18, gained 60 pounds during radiation treatment while being isolated in a hospital with zero human contact, and came out the other side with a calling — massage therapy. What followed was 28 years of relentless learning, Guinness World Record-breaking fitness (715 burpees in 60 minutes), becoming the massage therapist for the Minnesota Vikings and the 2022 US Women's Olympic Hockey Team, founding the first barefoot massage school in Minnesota, and becoming the highest-paid manual therapist in her state through a technique called adhesion release methods — a specialized approach to releasing nerve entrapments that only 50 practitioners worldwide are certified in. In this conversation with Freddie, Stephanie breaks down what adhesions actually are, why nerve entrapment goes undetected on MRIs and gets dismissed by conventional medicine, how she's getting results in four to six sessions for people who have been in chronic pain for years, and what the difference is between radial and focused shockwave therapy when treating specific nerve pathways. The second half of this episode goes somewhere deeply personal. Stephanie shares that her father died by suicide on Thanksgiving when she was five years old — and that she spent the next 38 years living in a state of chronic fight or flight, cycling through every SSRI, CBT protocol, and alternative therapy available, never finding lasting relief. Until ketamine. In two weeks of six IV sessions, she healed more trauma than 18 years of cognitive behavioral therapy ever touched. Her father came to her in session. God held her. And she came out glowing. She now does at-home ketamine therapy three to five days a week and credits it with putting her depression into remission and fueling the most successful chapter of her career. This is an honest, science-grounded, spiritually rich conversation about healing the body and the nervous system from the inside out — and what becomes possible when you finally feel safe. Ava Long is the owner of Floral Botanical Medicine, a health and wellness practice. Her diagnostic approach incorporates live blood microscopy to uncover root causes of chronic health concerns. She develops individualized herbal protocols for detoxification and for restoring balance and achieving optimal health. Symptoms of iodine deficiency include unexplained weight gain, chronic fatigue, cold sensitivity, dry skin, thinning hair, and enlarged thyroid gland. Seaweed, the best natural source of iodine, is an excellent herbal and dietary addition for supporting thyroid health, regulating blood sugar, and providing antioxidant protection. Are you still aligned with the goals you set at the beginning of the year, or have you been swept up in a fast, urgent pace? In this session, Robyn and Colleen Benelli guide you through a mid-year Reiki check-in to reflect on your original intentions, clear hidden blocks, and see what still holds authentic life force for your path forward. Learn how to navigate the "messy middle" of your manifestation journey by using Reiki tools to quiet the external noise and return to your inner truth. Key Insights Evaluating Mid-Year Life Force: Intentions are fluid, and a mid-year check-in allows you to look back at your initial goals to see which ones still feel warm, steady, and vibrant. Some goals may be completed, some may have softened, and others may simply need a new form to align with your current spiritual growth. Eagle Vision vs. Mouse Vision: Grounding your manifestations requires shifting your perspective. Eagle vision lets you soar high above to see the entire trajectory of your path behind and in front of you, while Mouse vision drops you directly into the present moment, helping you navigate the immediate, practical details. Aligning the Multiple Minds: To accurately hear your inner wisdom over the loud, external noise of the world, Reiki helps coordinate your distinct centers of intelligence. By aligning your Divine Mind, analytical human mind, heart mind, instinctual gut mind (soul knowledge), and physical Earth mind (cellular memory), you bring your entire being into centered stability. The Healing Power of the Pause: When the pace of life becomes hurried and full of false urgency, simply pausing to take a deep breath and consciously choosing to receive Reiki changes your energetic frequency. This practice of "microdosing" Reiki trains the ordinary mind to automatically think from a deeper, more peaceful space. People Also Ask (FAQ) How do I know if my manifestation goals are still right for me? During a mid-year check-in, bring Reiki energy directly into your original intentions and listen to your inner truth. If a goal still feels warm, peaceful, or quietly persistent, it still holds life force. If it feels distant, heavy, or no longer relevant, you can use Reiki tools to gracefully let it go. What is the "messy middle" in a Reiki manifestation path? The "messy middle" is the phase where you are transitioning between letting go of old patterns and completely anchoring your new goals. It can feel confusing or unclear, but utilizing Reiki tools during this time helps bring clarity of mind, stability, and the patience required to let your intentions gestate naturally. How do you use Reiki to overcome over-giving and open to receiving? Many practitioners struggle with an imbalance of over-giving. To step into authentic receiving, practice stopping throughout your day, placing a hand on your heart if possible, and using a Reiki symbol while setting the conscious intention: "I receive." This microdosing technique retrains your system to accept support and opportunities. Learn about the Healing Power of Prolonged Fasting: HEREWhat if the one food you've been told to avoid isn't always the problem, and when prepared the right way, could actually support your healing? In this episode, Dr. Katie Deming brings back Monica Corrado, a traditional foods educator, author, and ancestral nutrition expert to dig into what's actually true about dairy, cancer, and the gut. They break down the difference between the dairy you'll find on grocery store shelves and the kind traditional cultures prepared for centuries. They cover everything from Holstein cows versus traditional brown cows, to A1 versus A2 casein, to why raw milk dairies may be held to stricter safety standards than conventional pasteurized dairy. You'll also find out why some people feel sick after trying raw milk for the first time, and why that reaction may have more to do with drinking too much of a potent, microbially live food too quickly than with the milk itself.Chapters:00:06:08 - Why Modern Dairy Changed00:07:18 - The Problem With Store Dairy00:08:24 - The Dairy That May Heal00:09:12 - The Raw Milk Difference00:10:05 - How Culturing Removes Sugar00:11:18 - Why Raw Milk Scares People00:15:21 - How Milk Quality Got Lost00:18:11 - Drinking Dead Bacteria00:20:29 - A1 vs A2 Dairy00:24:19 - What Better Dairy Looks Like00:26:09 - Making Dairy Cancer Friendly00:30:08 - The IGF-1 Question00:36:10 - Why Kefir Is DifferentDr. Katie also shares what she's observing in her own practice about IGF-1 levels in patients who are eating long-cultured dairy, a question her fasting community has been asking about for a long time.By the end, you'll understand what kind of dairy may support your microbiome, why long culturing matters, and how Monica recommends making yogurt or kefir at home.Press play and learn how an ancient food you may have written off could become one of the most overlooked tools in your healing toolkit.Chef Monica's Books: https://simplybeingwell.com/2nd-ed-gaps-complete-bookJoin Dr. Katie's 3-Day Guided Fast, for expert support, daily live calls, and a community to fast alongside: Sign-Up Follow Dr. Katie Deming on InstagramWatch on YoutubeDISCLAIMER: The Born to Heal Podcast is intended for informational purposes only and is not a substitute for seeking professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Brenda J. and Karen B. welcome back to the show Carissa Raderstorf. Carissa is an ordained minister, board-certified pastoral counselor, and founder of Reset Ministries. She oversees Reset Retreats, Reset Together, personalized coaching, and intensive story work. Passionate about helping people experience emotional healing, relational growth, and a deeper connection with God, Carissa holds an M.A. from Olivet Nazarene University and graduate certificates in counseling and executive coaching from the Townsend Institute. In this encouraging episode, Brenda, Karen, and Carissa discuss why being present with someone in pain is often one of the most powerful gifts we can offer. Many of us feel pressure to fix problems, give advice, or provide the perfect spiritual answer, but Carissa explains why simply showing up and sitting with someone in their grief, trauma, disappointment, or loss can be far more meaningful. They explore why so many people struggle with being present, how building healthy relationships before difficult seasons creates a foundation of support, and why even introverts need caring connections. Carissa shares practical, easy-to-understand ways to support others, discusses the "relational nutrients" that help people heal, and explains how our own experiences can grow our empathy and deepen our ability to bear one another's burdens. Whether you're supporting a loved one through a difficult season or learning how to become a more compassionate presence in the lives of others, this episode offers hope, wisdom, and practical encouragement for everyone. https://resetministries.us https://hangingontohope.org

Episode 26-21 The Healing Power Of… SWEAT! One of the most powerful, and under-appreciated, "tools" for helping your body heal is: Sweat! It's true. Sweating is good for your health and should be a vital part of any healing protocol. The reason why is simple: Sweating helps your body get rid of toxins. This is incredibly important in this day and age as we are literally surrounded by toxins. - Toxins in the foods we eat. - Toxins in the water we drink and bathe in. - Toxins in the air we breathe. - Toxins in the products we apply to our skin and hair. - Toxins in the clothes we wear. - Toxins in the sheets we sleep on. Basically, toxins are everywhere and they are making us sick!!! On this episode I explain the role of toxins in chronic disease. I also talk about why SWEATING is an excellent "tool" you can use to help eliminate them from your body. Give this episode a good listen if you want to take your health to another level. Every diet you've ever tried has failed you for one reason: it never told you when to eat. Your body runs on two energy systems. One burns sugar. The other burns fat. Most people never spend a single day in the second one. Around eight to ten hours without food, the switch flips. Ketones flood your brain. Hunger quiets. Mental clarity hits. Healing turns on. This is what fasting expert Dr. Mindy Pelz has been teaching for over 25 years, and what her book Fast Like a Girl made impossible to ignore. For women, timing is everything. Day 1 to 10, fast longer and lift heavier. Day 11 to 15, testosterone surges and libido climbs. Day 16 to 19 is for deeper fasts. After day 20, progesterone needs you to back off and rest. Fast like a man during the back half of your cycle and you'll tank the very hormones keeping you calm and regular. Underneath all of it sits the hormonal hierarchy. Oxytocin at the top. Cortisol below it. Then insulin. Then sex hormones. When you feel safe and connected, the whole stack works. When you don't, nothing else matters. Connection isn't optional for women. It's biology. Dr. Mindy's books: Age Like a Girl How Menopause Rewires Your Brain for Mental Clarity, Increased Confidence, and Renewed Energy Eat Like a Girl: 100+ Delicious Recipes to Balance Hormones, Boost Energy, and Burn Fat Fast Like a Girl: A Woman's Guide to Using the Healing Power of Fasting to Burn Fat, Boost Energy, and Balance Hormones The Menopause Reset: Get Rid of Your Symptoms and Feel Like Your Younger Self Again The Reset Factor Kitchen: 101 Tasty Recipes to Eat Your Way to Wellness,Burn Belly Fat, and Maximize Your Energy The Reset Factor: 45 Days to TransformingYour Health by Repairing Your Gut In this episode you will: Learn the fasting cycle for women, Dr. Mindy's day-by-day framework that syncs your fasting window, workout intensity, and food choices to your menstrual cycle Uncover why your menstrual cycle is a monthly detox rather than a burden, and what an irregular or absent cycle is actually telling you about your body Discover why timing your eating matters more than what you eat, and how the ketogenic energy system unlocks fat burning, mental clarity, and steady energy Understand the hormonal hierarchy, how oxytocin, cortisol, insulin, and sex hormones stack on each other, and why female community and connection function as biological medicine Find out what long-term birth control does to the gut microbiome and the brain-ovary connection, and why so many women struggle with hormonal imbalances after coming off the pill For more information go to https://lewishowes.com/1928 For more Greatness text PODCAST to +1 (614) 350-3960 Follow The Daily Motivation for essential highlights from The School of Greatness More SOG episodes we think you'll love: Glucose Goddess Dr. Mary Claire Haver Dr. Mark Hyman TOPICS Dr. Mindy Pelz, intermittent fasting, ketogenic energy system, fasting cycle for women, hormonal hierarchy, menstrual cycle nutrition, cortisol and stress, birth control and microbiome, oxytocin and women's health, Fast Like a Girl Get more from Lewis!
