If you've ever seen that unmistakable skull logo or the words “Peddlin Evil” on a T-shirt, you already know the vibe. Since the 1980s, Kevin's shop has been a sanctuary for headbangers, punks, and music obsessives—and his merch has become a badge of honor worn by everyone from Alice Cooper to Slayer. Stand up and shout!

The UK outfit Sleep Token has done what we once thought impossible: Found commercial success playing heavy metal music in 2025 AD. Their fourth studio album, Even in Arcadia, went to number one on the Billboard 200 upon its release, with all ten of its tracks charting on the Hot 100—this despite the fact that the band has been entirely masked and anonymous through their nine year existence. Sleep Token's willingness to inject their brand of heavy metal with autotuned pop vocals, reggaeton beats, and hop hop inflected rhythms has widened their audience, but in the process had galvanized scathing criticism. Pitchfork gave the album a withering review calling Even in Arcadia "schmaltzy and dull," while Anthony Fantano dubbed the band "metal music for Disney adults." We get to know Sleep Token—the music and the controversy—by listening deeply to the ways they toy with the genre conventions of metal, and ask whether they are changing the sound of pop in the process. HOLLYWOOD - Broomall, Pennsylvania artist David Hoffrichter is a winner in the L. Ron Hubbard Illustrators of the Future Contest and was honored along with ten other artists and twelve writers at the Taglyan Complex in Hollywood, California on April 10th. His art is published along with the other writers' and illustrators' stories and art in the international bestselling anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 41 which will be officially released on April 22nd 2025. David grew up in Broomall PA, right outside of Philadelphia and not too far from several museums that would direct his love of illustration for the rest of his life. David was raised on adventure stories, magical tales of Lions, Dwarves, Elves, and heroes of all ages. The one thing these stories had in common were amazing pictures illustrated by artists who lived very close to where David first learned to love art. From N.C. Wyeth, Howard Pyle, and Jessie Wilcox Smith, to the artistic legends who are alive today. Still brightening the world with every brushstroke they make, David revels in his appreciation of art and how it has shaped his foundation from an early age. David loves to create narrative paintings that tell the stories between the lines. There is a mystery to be found in his works, that represents who he is as an artist, and how he sees the world. He cannot wait to share his world with you. The Illustrators of the Future Contest judges include, Bob Eggleton (11 Chesley Awards and 9 Hugo Awards), Larry Elmore (Dungeons & Dragons book covers), Echo Chernik (graphic designs for major corporations including Celestial Seasonings tea packaging), Rob Prior (art for Spawn, Heavy Metal comics and Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ciruelo (Eragon Coloring Book). devil can ever be justified. “The Rune Witch” is Jefferson's first sale. He hopes you enjoy it. The Contest, one of the most prestigious writing and illustrating competitions in the world, is currently in its 42nd year and is judged by some of the premier names in speculative fiction. The Writers of the Future Contest judges include, Tim Powers (author of On Stranger Tides), Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert (Dune prequel series), Robert J. Sawyer (The Oppenheimer Alternative), Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn series, The Stormlight Archive), Larry Niven (Ringworld), Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game), Nnedi Okorafor (Who Fears Death), Hugh Howey (Wool), and Katherine Kurtz (Deryni series) to name a few. Following the 1982 release of his internationally acclaimed bestselling science fiction novel, Battlefield Earth, written in celebration of 50 years as a professional writer, L. Ron Hubbard created the Writers of the Future (writersofthefuture.com) in 1983 to provide a means for aspiring writers of speculative fiction to get that much-needed break. Due to the success of the Writers of the Future Contest, the companion Illustrators of the Future Contest was inaugurated five years later. In the 41 years of the Writers of the Future Contest, there have been 571 winners and published finalists. The past winners of the Writing Contest have published 2,000 novels and nearly 6,300 short stories. They have produced 36 New York Times bestsellers, and their works have sold over 60 million copies. Notes Ojeda, “After twenty-five years of riding the struggle bus, we're ready to show the rock and metal world what we're truly about.”The album cover, designed by mixed-media artist Ashley Hoey, beautifully depicts Irene of Athens — the mother of Emperor Constantine and the first female empress of the Byzantine Empire. This focus on a maternal ruler eloquently ties into the album's title, Harbingers, which means “ones who usher in great change.”Subscribe to The Adventures of Pipeman at https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-adventures-of-pipeman--941822/supportTake some zany and serious journeys with The Pipeman aka Dean K. This sentiment underscores the album's lyrical depth, explored in tracks like the aggressive "NAIL5" and the anthemic "Magnetic." Sonic Evolution and Staying True A significant portion of the Wage War STIGMA interview focuses on the band's deliberate approach to evolving their sound without alienating their dedicated fanbase. Oh we're back and it's probably the meanest we've been to an album on the show. Stone Sour's self titled debut is an ego-driven butt rock opus designed from start to finish to make you go "hey it's the guy from Slipknot." This album exists for one reason and one reason only; to make Corey Taylor a celebrity. Corey Taylor was upset that he had very little say in the writing process for Slipknot and he was alos upset that the meteoric success of Slipknot didn't come with my real celebrity because of the anonymous nature of Slipknot at the time. To fix this he decided to reform is original bar rock band Stone Sour with the dual goal of getting his name and face out in the public while also racking up radio hits that he could then take back to Slipknot to prove that he can write a successful song. A truly bizarre album that seems more like a marketing play to jump-start Corey Taylor as a brand rather that a pure artistic expression. The vinyl pressing I have here is a Record Store day repressing with alternate album artwork and a bonus live CD (which we did not listen to for this episode). It's a 180 gram pressing that sounds about as clean as you can hope for with a standard quality gatefold jacket. I picked it up from the half-off bin at Horizon Records years ago thinking it would be fun to revisit for nostalgia reasons and see if it holds up to my non-teenage ears. My conclusion? The second album was better. In the news corner today we take aim at the various bad actors, industry insiders, and of course Sharon Osbourne all coming together to tank the career of Irish rap group' KNEECAP for the crime of opposing the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people during their Coachella performance. All of the usual "keep politics out of music" takes are here and just like always, they're dumb as hell and only seek to stifle speech that dares to question the imperial core. It's a fun one!Instagram - @MBFrecordspodAmanda's IG/TikTok/YouTube - @MothraLunaJason's Discogs - https://www.discogs.com/user/FrequencyShift/collection Theme music by SHADE08 x 80root on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bewQPpTnfgg&list=PPSVHosted by Ausha. “You'll be divorced, alone, and flaccid…” Let's go back a few years, back to a time when we were young and impressionable and just starting out on our respective metal odysseys as fans and purveyors of all things metal, including (but not limited to) the hard rock of our childhood years in the late 70's to the plethora of NWOBHM, thrash, and other classic metal bands we discovered during our teen years in the late 80's and early 90's.  Back to a time when wearing a newly purchased tour shirt from a show the night before to school the next day was a sacred badge of honor, a time when local bands gave out flyers for shows that included “treasure map” style instructions for locating the venue, and a time when we each had our own personal attaché case containing the cassettes we'd recently procured (or otherwise came into possession of) on our unquenchable thirst and unending quest for anything and everything metal.  Imagine what “Miss Piggy with laryngitis” might sound like and remember to never do people dirty, because just like Pepperidge Farms, karma remembers. Get ready for a “crombination” of “skythes…or scythes”, discover some of the most absurdly talented drummers and bassists in the world today, and prepare to behold one of, if not the best, thrash bands from the local scene back in the day when you JOIN US as we travel back in time to THE METAL DAYS OF YORE: OUR FORMATIVE METAL YEARS.   Visit www.metalnerdery.com/podcast for more on this episode Help Support Metal Nerdery https://www.patreon.com/metalnerderypodcast   Leave us a Voicemail to be played on a future episode: 980-666-8182 Metal Nerdery Tees and Hoodies – metalnerdery.com/merch and kindly leave us a review and/or rating on the iTunes/Apple Podcasts - Spotify or your favorite Podcast app Follow us on the Socials: Facebook - Instagram - TikTok Email: metalnerdery@gmail.com Metal Nerdery Munchies on YouTube @metalnerderypodcast Show Notes: (00:01): “He's 70…and he's in great shape.” / #DLR / “He started getting a salary and not royalties…”/ MichaelAnthony #VanHalen / #RussellsReflectionsDavidLeeRothEdition / “Apparently he's got a #teenieweenie …”/ “There it is…right there…”/ “I think he's fine…”/ #networth / “He was a 20% member, manager Noel Monk being the 5th…” / ***WARNING: #listenerdiscretionisadvised *** / “Once we hit 6 years, we need to do something…maybe we should do our own version of it…”/ “That makes me 100% flaccid…”/ ***WELCOME BACK TO THE METAL NERDERY PODCAST FROM DEEP WITHIN THE BUNKERPOON!!!*** / “Sounds too much like #MissPiggy with laryngitis…”  (09:40): “I feel like my whole routine is shot…I talked about it too much…”/ “You mean the front parking or the rear parking?” / “We may be ordering a pizza halfway through this…”/ “You're gonna be hammered later…”/ “I started to mention it on the #Patreon…”/ “You can't enjoy ANYTHING anymore because EVERYTHING is stupid…”/ #CharlesBerthoud / “I recognize that name…”/ #bassvirtuoso / FADE TO BLACK #fretlessbass / “That's next level…”   (18:00): “Let's talk about the #Patreons first…”/ #PatreonShoutOut / ***JOIN US ON THE PATREON AT patreon.com/metalnerderypodcast *** / “Hail TO all…he's got a case of the Russes today…”/ ***JOIN US on #Instagram and #YouTube and #Facebook and #TikTok or EMAIL US at metalnerdery@gmail.com or VOICEMAIL US AT 980-666-8182!!!*** / #GalacticEmpire / THE IMPERIAL MARCH / “A #crombination of #KISS and #Slipknot #KISSKnot …” / “That's what this show is about…it's about learning.”/ “Haven't heard from Milla (Milley) or Geeoff…”/ “It's just on the edge of being annoying as fuck…or impossible to stand…”/ #sixyearanniversary #metalnerderypodcast / “First of all, we got an email from a girl…”/ #Leafblower #wellplayyourshittah / “Burn Cruise? On this week's Loaded Radio Podcast, Carla Harvey (formerly of Butcher Babies) joins Scott for the first time to talk about her brand-new band The Violent Hour, her role as the new frontwoman of Lords Of Acid, and her evolution as an artist. In the second half of the episode, Metal Injection journalist and content creator Greg Kennelty appears on Voices From The Underground, diving into the state of music journalism, independent media, and his growing YouTube presence. Carla Harvey launches The Violent Hour and joins Lords Of Acid It's a busy and exciting new chapter for Carla Harvey. After years of crushing it onstage with Butcher Babies, Carla is stepping into the spotlight with two brand new ventures — her searing new project The Violent Hour and her surprising new role as the frontwoman for the long-running electro-industrial act Lords Of Acid. In her first-ever conversation with Scott on The Loaded Radio Podcast, Carla opens up about the creative direction of The Violent Hour, the freedom she feels with this new musical outlet, and how stepping into the world of Lords Of Acid has allowed her to channel a completely different side of her performance style. She also touches on what it's like to move from groove-laced metalcore to full-blown industrial chaos, the importance of authenticity in her work, and how her creative fire continues to evolve. Whether you've been a fan since her Butcher Babies days or you're just discovering her now through The Violent Hour, this interview gives a unique and personal look at one of heavy music's most dynamic voices. Greg Kennelty joins Voices From The Underground The second half of the episode features a new installment of Voices From The Underground, a segment that highlights creators and contributors in the metal scene who are shaping the industry behind the scenes. This week's guest is Greg Kennelty, longtime journalist at Metal Injection and one of the most respected names in underground metal media. Greg discusses his work covering everything from breaking band news to opinion pieces and reviews, how the landscape of metal journalism is shifting, and how he's building out his own platform via YouTube. From writing for one of the biggest names in metal press to crafting independent content that speaks directly to fans, Greg gives an insightful look at what it means to cover this genre in 2025 — and where things are headed next. Discover more on LoadedRadio.com This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in the evolution of modern metal — both onstage and behind the scenes. Whether you're into the crushing aggression of The Violent Hour, the twisted theatrics of Lords Of Acid, or the sharp-eyed analysis from voices like Greg Kennelty, this one has something for you. In this episode, we once again return to the Christ myth, in our search for the devil in Science Fiction with The Matrix. The Christ Myth is usually the story of a chosen one, a demi god, not exactly god but more than human with supernatural powers coming to rescue us all from evil. I would argue, Matrix is the most blatant and obvious of our Christ myth stories.  Special guest stars include Keanu Reeves, Thomas Anderson, Neo, Kung Fu, Trinity, John the Baptist, Morpheus, Jesus, River Jordan, red pill, Roman, Ovid, Metamorphoses, Cypher, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Oasis, Blur, Niki Minaj, Lil' Kim, Agent Smith, Wachowskis, Geocites, Sydney, 2000 Olympics, Australia, Melbourne, Athens, Greeks, Olympic Games, Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, George Lucas, Star Wars, The Phantom Menace, September 11, 2001,   #666 #SketchComedy #Sketch #Comedy #Sketch Comedy #Atheist #Science #History #Atheism #Antitheist #ConspiracyTheory #Conspiracy #Conspiracies #Sceptical #Scepticism #Mythology #Religion #Devil #Satan #Satanism #Satanist #Skeptic #Debunk #Illuminati #Podcast #funny #sketch #skit #comedy #comedyshow #comedyskits #HeavyMetal #weird #leftist #SatanIsMySuperhero #ScienceFiction #SciFiSend us a text

Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions:    Kris: Hi, I was wondering if you would have any suggestions ,help or feed back on dermatomyositis/antisynthetase syndrome . My husband (Anthony) was recently diagnosed with it, and everything I read and hear it seems little scary. We see a functional medicine dr. now but she is waiting to see what a rheumatologist suggests. Both my husband and myself are thinking detoxing would be the first thing we should do. Would you have any suggestions or thought on how we deal and handle this? thank you in advance                                                                                                                                                    Frankie: Hi Stephen, hope your having a great day. I've been dealing with post-nasal drip for a while, and my ENT believes it's caused by acid. I'm 21 and was prescribed two doses of Pantoprazole 40mg and two doses of Ranitidine 150mg, but I stopped after a month because I was supposed to take them for three months, and I don't want to stay on them that long. I had asthma when I was younger, so I wonder if that could be a factor. At this point, I don't know what else to do to get rid of it. any advice?                                                                                                                                           Melissa: Hi Dr. Cabral, I took the food sensitivity test and the heavy metals test. On my food sensitivity test it showed Candida albicans and I had some heavy metals such as aluminum and mercury show up on my HM test. Do you recommend doing the detox before doing the CBO protocol or vice versa? If I could only do one, which one would you recommend? For the detox, would you recommend the heavy metals one or the general 7 days (I've never done a detox before). Also, would it be safe to start the estrogen balance and estrogen support supplements at the same time as starting a detox or CBO protocol? If I'm just trying help my body excrete estrogen would you recommend just the estrogen balance supplement? I don't make too much estrogen but it's high because my body isn't excreting it well. TY!!!                  Jill: Thank you Dr. Cabral for your honest and straight forward approach. I have the MTHFR gene and seek a daily vitamin with B vitamins & folate. Many products are available with the activated or methylated forms of folate, B6, and B12. However, when I take them I experience headaches, a feeling of overstimulation, and anxiousness. I spent months experimenting and broke down my multivitamin taking a complex without any B vitamins and then added in individual forms of non methylated folate and B vitamins. I had no issue when folate and B vitamins were methyl free such as folinic acid and the Hydroxocobalamin and Adenosylcobalamin forms of B12. Tell me I'm not crazy! Do you agree that some people may be sensitive to methylated nutrients? Would you consider making DNS with methyl free nutrients?                 Morgan: Hi Dr Cabral. I'm 34 years old and have recently been diagnosed with isolated high diastolic blood pressure (systolic is normal). I live a healthy lifestyle including daily exercise, balanced diet and maintain a healthy weight. I don't smoke or drink alcohol. I recently left a job causing me some stress but otherwise I live a pretty stress-free life and I also practice daily yoga and meditation. My mom was diagnosed with hypertension in her 20s and has been on medication since. My HCP suggested starting me on medication too. I feel very strongly about relying on a lifelong medication. My question is even though I do everything correct to prevent high blood pressure, is it possible that some things are just simply genetic? Any suggestions before trying medication? Anything helps!
