Internet marketing has stabilized over the years, but the problem now is that there's so many choices especially for local marketing, which creates such a complex marketing environment. I started my company to try and untangle the web for local businesses, and help them understand how to promote their businesses using online marketing. I started way back and learned a lot about what to do what not to do, and then created a company that I've owned now for 13 years, that helps dentists figure out the best way to promote their practices. When I started the agency, at first we took on anybody that would pay us, but we later found out that it's hard to effectively market businesses that we don't know about. We narrowed down our focus to market for dentists and this has really helped us and quite frankly, our clients. The first two things that you have to do to capitalize your market place, no matter what kind of business you are in, is to first identify your new customer avatar and put it on paper. You also need to identify your unique selling proposition and what makes you different from your competition. When you have those two things, that's when you can identify the mediums or what advertising platforms are going to work best based on who you are trying to attract. Commercial Break I felt that if I wrote a book about what I was doing, it would help make me a market expert about it. Once I got to writing it, I realized that it was going to help a lot of people in business that were struggling and that needed a little push in the right direction. I found that when you write a book, you have to do a lot of research, and in that process, I learned a lot of new things. We get a lot of questions from our clients around time, fear of the unknown and money. There are a lot of people that want the information, get excited about it, and then don't really do anything with it. Find something that you're excited about and take action. It's okay to fail, just fail fast, learn from it and move on. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? We're all taking a deeper dive into what work looks like, and discovering that we can do business differently. There are ways that people can ask the probing questions that may not put somebody on the defensive. It takes confidence to ask questions because if you have someone that's afraid, no matter what the venue is, they're still going to be afraid to ask some questions. With the way the workplace is, we have to take some more risks as leaders. It takes years and a lot of work to develop a great company culture. It is important to handle problems as they arise otherwise they will explode. Commercial break There needed to be more books written by women on leadership on the shelves, whatever shelf it is. If this world is going to change, we have to give the up and coming generations the roadmap. The world is setting itself up where the younger generations are actually at the forefront making change. By writing this book, I wanted to share my journey and let people learn from my mistakes. I also wanted to teach people that when they are looking for their coaches or mentors, not everyone's a good fit. From the very beginning of my professional life, I had amazing men and women who guided me to my success. With Covid-19 pandemic, there was an increased level of focus again with being remote and it expanded a lot of possibilities for us. Sometimes something tragic can shake us all up and shock our potential to see what we're capable of. Miss Crab Apples came out of a Saturday night story to my granddaughter when she was six years old. I love to write for children because when you do that you just get to be in that incredible imagination game which is a great place to be. By putting more books like that out there, our grandkids get to have a chance to see what a good conversation is. Shake it off, be good to yourself, pat yourself on the back, and never ever give up. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? “The potential for creating novel brilliant solutions is not going to be found at one ivory tower or the other but in the middle, and we have to destigmatize what it looks like to be in the middle.” Annette Simmons Working with each other, rather than against each other, is what the world needs especially in times of conflict. While competition is inherently human, it can as well be divisive and cause people to pull towards different directions instead of working towards achieving a common goal. Annette Simmons is passionate about having collaborative narratives, and believes that storytelling is a tool that can enable people to see the bigger picture. Annette Simmons is a successful consultant and author of five books including her most recent, Drinking From a Different Well: How Women's Stories Change What Power Means in Action (2021) Simmons' solo career started in 1997 with the success of her first book Territorial Games: Understanding and Ending Turf Wars at Work (AMACOM, 1997) a deep examination of the micro-behaviors that discourage truth telling, information sharing and resource re-allocation. As a follow up Annette developed a facilitation guide called, A Safe Place for Dangerous Truths:Using Dialogue to Overcome Fear and Distrust at Work (AMACOM, 1998), full of tips for sharing truth in a safe way as well as principles and tools to shift the “truth telling” norms for one-on-one conversations and meetings. Her book about storytelling, The Story Factor (Basic Books, 3rd ed. 2019) introduced the business use of storytelling and was named one of The 100 Best Business Books of All Time (Penguin, 2009). She followed it with a workbook designed to develop a reader's “six stories” titled Whoever Tells the Best Story Wins: How to Use Your Own Stories to Communicate with Power and Impact (AMACOM, 2nd ed. 2015) She started out with a marketing degree from Louisiana State University (1983) and a move to Australia that provided ten years of international business experience with Ericsson and J. Walter Thompson. Annette returned to the USA to earn a Masters Degree in social psychology and adult education at North Carolina State University in 1994. Annette has been featured on CNBC's Power Lunch, NPR's Market Watch, talk radio programs, quoted in Fortune, Working Woman, Harvard Business Review, The Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, and dozens of other respected publications. In addition to English her books have been published in Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese, Korean, Swedish, Norwegian, German and Russian. In today's episode, Annette talks about the power of storytelling, and why it is important to have collaborative narratives when looking for solutions to shared problems. Listen in! Books by Annette; Drinking From a Different Well: How Women's Stories Change What Power Means in Action Territorial Games: Understanding and Ending Turf Wars at Work A Safe Place for Dangerous Truths:Using Dialogue to Overcome Fear and Distrust at Work Whoever Tells the Best Story Wins: How to Use Your Own Stories to Communicate with Power and Impact Social Media Handles https://annettesimmons.com/ https://differentwell.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/annettesimmonsstory/ https://twitter.com/thestoryfactor?lang=en https://www.facebook.com/Annette.Simmons.StoryFactor At an early age, I read books that started me on this lifelong quest of believing that if you just work hard enough, you can figure it out. I facilitated this form of dialogue, and then eventually realized that storytelling was the magic tool to help someone to see a situation through another's eyes. When we're trying to maximize our potential, we need to be able to combine somebody else's narrative with our narrative into a bigger picture that includes us both. If we don't learn how to tell our story, and take someone on a little field trip about what we've seen, they can't see it. I help people learn how to create collaborative narratives, and work together and find opportunities that they just can't see when they're in silos. As long as people are arguing from these polar opposites, they are wasting the time that they could be creating solutions. The potential for creating novel brilliant solutions is not going to be found at one ivory tower or the other but in the middle, and we have to destigmatize what it looks like to be in the middle. We've optimized this idea that you can solve metrically, and therefore have scored badly in solving the things that just can't be measured. Creating potential is almost always a function of building collaborative relationships with other people. Commercial break The first four books that I wrote were really kind of power with strategies instead of power over strategies. One of the things that I'm finding is that people with the collaborative narrative don't just want to win, but they want to protect. One of the problems with a strictly competitive is that it makes us think that harm is just the cost of doing business. This particular book takes you through the stories that women tell that men don't, and takes you through the idea that moral wins actually undercut competitive wins. We need to do is we need to re-define harm avoidance, as something other than risk avoidance. We've got to learn how to redesign the way we keep track of who we are, and how successful we are, and women have a talent for it. It is time to redesign what power means in terms of the logistical design of systems so that women will be more attracted to these top jobs. Companies are going to have to provide the opportunity to do good as well as to do well, if they're going to attract women. My hope for this new book is I want women to not feel like they have to suck up to the guys in charge, but to feel like they have an opportunity to educate the guys in charge. Women have to start believing that they can see things that are invisible from a competitive narrative. Start trusting yourself, and start taking people on a field trip about what you know is true. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? I struggled with the question of who I was for some time, but ultimately, I put together a plan that I would exit the practice of law and move into other things that I had passion for. Considering what I am doing now, I like that I can get to measure a little bit better for the next phase of my life when I'm giving. When I left the practice of law in 2019, I learnt a lot about myself and I am getting better at writing, which is a good thing. I've been doing book clubs and I really am enjoying the discussions with these different groups. The first book after retiring from practice was titled A Memoir of a Not Famous Lawyer, and it detailed my path into, during and then out of the law practice. The book traces my journey in a whole bunch of essays about different aspects of my background, getting into law school, practicing bankruptcy, and then what the exit was like. Commercial break The book series is a bankruptcy, legal thriller and all three of the titles come from bankruptcy code; Fresh Start, Automatic Stay and Unfair Discrimination. I wanted to make it approachable and not too legal where the only people who would read it would be lawyers. I like to have some historical aspect in the books as well. It was important to have as much diversity as I could in the books and capture the trials and tribulations of making it through a large law firm as a black woman. Don't let anyone convince you that there's only one thing you can do, because there's many things you can do and it is your job to identify what they are, and how you would pursue them. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? You@Work: Unlocking Human Potential in the Workplace I'm a big believer in the power of a book. Writing a book is hard and a lot of work because it means distilling all of your thought leadership into something that's cohesive, focused and really sharp. When I started as an HR consultant, speaker and trainer, I wrote to establish my thought leadership and differentiate myself from the pack to grow my business. A book can absolutely move you into new territory, help you claim your thought leadership in an area that you hadn't been able to claim before. I have a group coaching component which gives people writing exercises, the camaraderie and community. I also have a one on one coaching program that goes for six months which guides folks through the process of writing. I also have writing retreats, which is a great way for super busy people to have dedicated writing time, and has community elements, direction and guidance. Commercial break I've learned is that there are going to be people out there who all they need is the book, but there are others who will need extra level of guidance after reading my book. I work with the people that need to work with me, and then the rest can find the secret sauce in my book. I believe that the process of writing actually changes you and that you become a different person where you step into more of who you were meant to be. As a book coach I don't just write books randomly and just hope that they do something for the business, I always have to be very strategic. I use my work book now with my new coaching clients, and has therefore become an integral part of my business. The spoken word is wonderful, but the written word just has the staying power that is hard to beat. Go out there and make your mark, I really believe that you will make your mark when you write your book. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? The results are aligned brands that stand out from the crowd, magnetize the right clients and produce explosive results. In today's episode, Laura talks about transitioning to branding and how she helps her clients create businesses that connect with their clients. I allow people to see their magic and create chemistry with their audience as well as create a business and brand that aligns with them. My mission is to create a world filled with ambitious, fulfilled, prosperous and happy entrepreneurs. I help my clients to step into their genius by leveraging my magic to find their magic and then bring it to the world so everyone can see it. When working with my clients at brand camp, we do the deep work first that entails thinking, and then we design. I often tell my clients that I'm designing and creating a brand for their business for the future. Brand camp is my methodology, and is the process I take all of our clients through before we design anything. It is really about all of the messaging and really understanding how your brand show up in the world, and how you are going to distinguish yourself from everybody else in your space. I've combined my background and design with these newer skills, which I had to embrace and step into. Commercial break My book is based on brand camp, and it walks you through the entire process of creating your brand. I wrote the book because I knew that I could only help us a certain amount of people through working with me one on one. I saw my book to be a great way to elevate my personal brand, bring more business into my business, and to get me more speaking engagements. For me getting really clear on why I was writing a book made me find my unique factor which was having a design background. When you get to fully step into who you are, and get crystal clear on that, the right people will be drawn to you like a magnet, and that's what brand chemistry is all about. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? “When you pour into other people without expectation, things just come back to you so much easier.” Laura Templeton How can leaders create and maintain lasting and genuine relationships? Effective communication is crucial when networking and passing information. The ability to explain and clarify important information should be nurtured by all leaders who aspire to make these connections. Laura Templeton has been working with leaders and notes that it is important to be present and engaging when networking. Laura Templeton is the Founder and Chief Instigator at 30 Second Success, a company helping coaches, consultants, and service providers make better connections and obtain more business in 30 seconds or less. As a Global Speaker, Author of 30 Second Success: Ditch the pitch and start connecting! and Brand Communications Consultant, Laura educates in-person and virtual audiences on value-based communications that take your creativity to the next level and help you step into owning and sharing your brilliance with confidence. I launched 30 Second Success business about seven years ago. I teach people a simple formula that that I use for myself on how to do the 30 second message. There's a lot of work that goes into the deep understanding of what it is that you're meant to do and who you're meant to connect with, and figure out how to put that into 30 Seconds or Less. The value comes in from helping people just figure out how they can live into what they're designed to do and really understand it. When we start positioning ourselves well as taking care of other people, we start serving other people, and it's not about what we get out of the relationship but rather what we give into the relationship. When you pour into other people without expectation, things just come back to you so much easier. You have to be willing to accept that you're not always the solution, and know that there's an opportunity for you to listen. Commercial break I do believe that there's always the right time for someone to finally sit down and write a book, and I did. The real value in my book is not just how to write your message, but how to create connections and networking as part of your marketing strategy. Networking is one of the most beautiful relationship models I've ever seen in my life. The book is designed to help people understand how to become a more effective networkers and get out of their own way, and how that will then transform their business. The benefit of virtual has really changed in the way that it also has given me access to a global community. My advice to people of the millennial generation is to align themselves with someone who has more experience in networking and is willing to take you under their wing. A lot of young people really have a hard time connecting with the people that they need to help them grow their businesses. There is value in being present and engaged with someone, and having that intention of really listening and asking them to go a little bit deeper with their answers to your questions. Believe in your ability to create the change you want to see in this world. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? “Your soul language may be very different from all those people telling you that you have to find success in a certain way.“ Lisa Dadd How can leaders connect with their innermost self and manifest it in their daily interactions? For years, people have been searching for ways and tools that can help them find out who they really are, and their life's purpose. Lisa Dadd has been working with leaders to help them tap into their natural gifts, talents and abilities, through expanding their awareness and helping them understand their soul languages. Lisa Dadd spent 15 years in the competitive industry of corporate healthcare, mastering strategic sales, marketing and management skills, from one of the world's largest healthcare companies. In addition to the success, climbing the corporate ladder offered, was a deep sense her greatest potential was yet to be realized. With nearly a decade of independent consulting, an intense training in leadership development and facilitation of social emotional learning programs, Lisa has uncovered an innate way to access that potential. Leveraging a diagnostic tool called Soul Language, Lisa now works with innovative leaders to integrate an awareness of who they are at their core, into the way they do business. The success of her process is particularly related to her unique approach to sales training. She believes that selling is a critical communication skill for all of us to have, because whether we are selling a product, a service, or an idea, we all need to create buy-in. Soul Sales teaches the art of creating buy-in, through the enrolling language of one's innate energy. In today's episode, Lisa talks about how she uses the Soul Language as a tool to help people connect to themselves and others. She also talks about her book and why she decided to write it. I work with business owners and leaders in their own soul language and put that filter on the way they do business. Sometimes the thing that is our super strength and brings us joy, may also be our kryptonite that takes energy out of us. Put your own unique filter on things because everything either works or fails, but the question is whether it aligns with who you are. When I came across the soul language tool, we started diving into what that was, and how we could use it. I use it to determine how to bring personal growth and business together in a successful way. Commercial break I always had this niggling in the back of my mind that I would write a book one day. I started interviewing people because I wanted to hear from everyday ordinary people. There were a lot of commonalities even though everybody followed their own way. I realized that the summary of it all was that actually most people love, especially initially, what they're doing and what they're involved in until the environment changes unfavorably. Sometimes it takes a bit of work to get your foundation under you as an entrepreneur. Anyone who tells you they're an entrepreneur and they've never failed is not really one. Entrepreneurs are willing to live a short time the way no one else will, so that they can live the rest of their lives the way no one else can. Your soul language may be very different from all those people telling you that you have to find success in a certain way. My book brought me on my path to create my business, which now pays me. For most people, they're never going to make a million dollars selling their books, but it can help with the journey towards the million dollars by helping you get very clear about you're trying to accomplish. Life is speaking to us each and every day, the question is whether we're slowing down to listen to it. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? “Do not give up the gains of the past, but rather bring them forward into the future.” Nick Jankel How can leaders embrace the lessons of the past, as well as inspire positive change for the future in their businesses and communities? Considering the pace at which the word continues to evolve, transformational leadership is no longer an option but a necessity, especially for organizations that want to thrive and remain sustainable. Nick Jankel works with leaders to help them take charge of their businesses and notes on the importance of learning self and having control of the body and mind. Nick Jankel is a thought leader whose ideas, tools and research are designed to take the pain out of transformation. My core business is called switch on, and we do innovation, leadership, coaching and some systemic change and architecture. We also have Future makers which is a sustainability consultancy and we work with large organizations that want to be net positive. I ran innovation training for clients which is basically creative leadership work, and that pulled me into leadership and coaching. The entire leadership movement of the last 20 years is really a response to management technologies, which were all about control and efficiency. The world is never going to be stable, consistent and clear and organizations need to figure out what they need to do to make sure they remain relevant. Sales is actually where emotional intelligence lives most acutely in an organization, and so there's a lot from that world that is at the core of leadership. What we do is called transformational leadership, which is the ability to cause lasting positive change. I'm trying to get leaders to find a path for themselves and their organization by embracing all that makes a person human. The dilemma therefore is how to create full spectrum workplaces where we allow people to be humans, with all their flaws and fragilities and all their potential power, and still have boundaries. Great leaders are working out that for themselves because you can't help others if you haven't helped yourself. We generally haven't been taught how to do boundaries, but we need to learn to create them. The mind and body is the most complex organizing system in the universe and people should spend time mastering it. Commercial break It seemed crazy that I would be talking about transformational leadership, and I hadn't actually got a book about transformation. The book looks at your own leadership, purpose, and resilience. It then looks at leading your organization, and how well you hold on your organization. I use this book to do two things, communicate my take on transformational leadership, and also put across the seven principles of transformation. The book is not meant to solve all the problems, but it's creates a map of the problems and where you might go for specifics within that. Do not give up the gains of the past, but rather bring them forward into the future. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? The strangest thing was that as I excelled, I kept on getting more and more miserable, anxious, depressed, and unfulfilled. I resigned my job and traveled the world with my husband for a year before we settled down and figured how to make a difference and Untethered was born. We really exist to guide high achieving executives and entrepreneurs to overcome some of the biggest and stubborn obstacles that are in the way of what they want to create in their lives. We combine several different coaching processes like the immunity to change with peak experiences. Mid-career retirement gives us some time to pause to re-evaluate and understand who are we today, because it may not be who we were yesterday. When going through the program, the first phase people get excited because they have someone to help them get through their challenge. The next phase entails getting into the introspective space where we slow everything down to allow that emotion to just be as it is, and not to rush through it. We usually have a peak experience which provides rapid and potent insight that allows that individual to see the pinpoint. Once they have achieved the awareness, they begin to experiment and put the new behaviors and patterns into everyday life. I've helped a lot of folks define what their life's mission is, or define what their personal brand is, and then figure out ways that they can share them openly. I've also really enjoyed helping people become coaches, which then creates an entire ecosystem inside of a company or organization for other coaches. We're moving forward to a very different time in human history, where people are going to stand in their truths in ways that they never have before. Our job as coaches and leaders is to help people believe in themselves in ways that they might not have before. We are moving to a time where people are slowing down, and finding an objective framework on how to distribute their time into things they genuinely care about. Commercial Break We have moved to what astrologist referred to as the Age of Aquarius. Organizations that are upscaling their people are the ones that are going to have the most engaged and productive staff. Now is the time to create those collaborative workspaces where people can truly express themselves in a more connected environment. In March of 2020, I got this epiphany and I reached out to a writing coach that I had known. The summer of 2020 was an enormously challenging emotional time for me, because I was confronting a lot of my own fears to tell some of the stories that I tell in the book. I had to challenge myself and get really deep into my own heart and soul to tell the stories that I told but it has opened up doors that I would have never ever considered. The more niche or specific that you are, the more depth oftentimes the help that you can provide is. I encourage everybody watching or listening to take the time to really start to share yourself more openly, because you never know who you're going to uplift. Be the person you needed to be when you were younger, and if you do that, you're going to find a tremendous meaning and joy in life. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? Growth does not happen by accident, and is not sustainable in any organizations where the culture is not a people culture. I was a financial analyst at a manufacturing company, but later got into tech and learnt how to code and design applications for the largest financial banks and insurance companies across the globe. The risk I took to get into tech was worth it because that was what got me to where I'm at today. I came to the US in 1991 to pursue education, and got my first job in the mailroom at a corporation. I got an opportunity and ended up going working for the same company as a Treasury Department. My purpose in life is to tenfold other people's success, and my book is about thinking about the framework for tech startups. It talks about the five functional fundamental growth disconnects that trap startups and keeps them from reaching the summit, and from touching the sky. I intended to empower founders and CEOs to self-reflect and grow as they progress and scale their business. I challenge clients and co-workers to be curious seeker, and this book helps people understand the questions to identify blind spots as they scale their business. The book is not just about business, but also about my experience climbing Mount Everest base camp to keep a secret that I promised my grandma to spread her ash there. When you take small bites, and adjust how you move along the way it improves performance, and enables you to accomplish goals on time, budget, and with all of the features people want. During the economic recession in 2007-2008, I shut my software business down. I started a granola bar business and we started growing it rapidly, but it was really hard work, and the margins were not what I needed them to be. I went to work at IBM, and then did a program called the team management leadership program. “Today more than ever, climate is part of the frontier narrative when it comes to the geopolitical landscape or the financial regulatory landscape.”Gopal Erinjippurath Climate change is now a fact of life on many fronts including geopolitically and in business. As the world becomes more aware of the impact of climate change, more opportunities come up to make a difference. It is however clear, that despite there being a great deal of information out there, many business are unsure about how to interpret and use it constructively. Gopal Erinjippurath has been working with businesses to help them understand better the link between their businesses and the climate. Gopal serves as CTO and Head of Product at Sust Global, a venture focused on geospatial analytics for climate adaptation. Most recently, he led the Analytics Engineering team at Planet Labs (NYSE:PL), an integrated aerospace and data analytics company that operates history's largest commercial fleet of earth observation satellites. Planet Analytics serves a range of customers from city planning teams in governments and the World Bank to defense and intelligence functions across the world. He is known for agile engineering execution from concept to scalable high quality products. He has been an invited speaker at global industry conferences like Google Cloud Next and leading technical conferences in the machine learning space such as ICML, CVPR and NeurIPS. Previously Gopal managed teams working on industry-leading analytics products from early concept demonstrations to multiple customers at Captricity (Acquired by NASDAQ:SSNC) and Harvesting Inc, where he advised the CEO. Previously he led the algorithm engineering development of Dolby's (NYSE: DLB) first imaging display product, the Emmy Award winning Dolby Professional Reference Monitor. Gopal holds an MS in Electrical Engineering from University of Southern California and completed the Ignite Program, connecting technologists with new commercial ventures, at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. In today's episode, Gopal about what they do as a business, and why it is important that businesses begin to seek awareness of the impact of climate change to their financial bottom line. Listen in! Media links www.sustglobal.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/gopalerinjippurath/ I categorize myself as a scientists and primarily looking at data on geospatial data which is linked to location. We are enabling businesses to understand the impact of the changing climate, to their holdings and their financial bottom line. Today more than ever, climate is part of the frontier narrative when it comes to the geopolitical landscape or the financial regulatory landscape. The access to businesses to clean valid and trusted data around the changing climate across the world has been limited. Sust Global intends to transform that and enable the ability across the economy towards using a shared set of commonly known parameters around climate data. I started my career in multimedia, and later got inspired to pursue a career on focusing environmental data. Climate is a global phenomenon and the changing climate doesn't affect just one person in a specific way, rather it affects different people in different ways. As climate becomes mainstream in the dialogue on the geopolitical as well as the regional and the Civic scales, we begin to see the desire in the public to invest in climate consciously. When businesses need to enable the climate conscious avenues, then they seek to use climate data in new and creative ways. Pragmatic solutions that brings into account the changing climate need to also account for the state of affairs today. Being able to identify the conflicting demands of the present and the future are kind of what an entrepreneur has to figure out in this fast moving ecosystem. Commercial break There's a gap between the community that understands climate, and the community that wants to use climate but doesn't understand it. We are trying to limit that gap in the venues that we serve, but it will take a while, and so the time is now for us to get more educated and aware of what climate actually is. Previously, the big migration angle was around opportunity, and geo arbitrage, but I believe climate is introducing a third dimension. When it comes to opportunity around the emergence of these capabilities, there has been an unprecedented lot of awareness around discoveries and the use of data. There is a growing awareness and people having the sense of purpose, where they start to look at what they can do with their skills to address this problem, and benefit in the process. There is also the emergence of cross functional and interdisciplinary teams, which creates some unique opportunities. One can pick up enough of the foundation knowledge, and create a shared understanding, and then work with others in different domains to create new opportunities. In this connected world where we're all working remotely, it's a great time to pick up new domains because big business opportunities exist at the intersection of domains. Inherently product development is an iterative process and being comfortable with imperfection in the early days. Work with others who are comfortable with imperfection, so that they can be encouraging and partner with you on that journey. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? We want to build something that's flexible that will enable the people in my team spend as much time with their loved ones. Where we really thrive with our clients is on the custom side where we build technology tools for clients to help amplify their competitive advantage. We do websites, marketing automation, ecommerce among others and all of it is business focused. Most technology failures occur when there's a closed-door room when constructing software tools, and so we have adopted user centered design thinking approach when providing solutions. We ask clients to tell us where they are going and why, and that's important because they need to communicate that to their stakeholders when we're trying to help with the roadmap. We start with rolling out the minimal viable product that's going to impact the business positively, and then iterate from that. “Even if we come up with all the best ideas in the world, but they're not adopted nor used in any organization, they won't succeed.” Patrick McCreesh Organizational alignment is the key to any successful organization. While organizations continue to establish themselves and adopt the latest technology, it also important that they pay attention on their people and how they fit in to the overall vision of the organization. Simatree is founded on the idea that that technology is really about people, and that if you get technology right, you will be able to empower your organizations the right way. When we come in and work with organizations, we start with people by looking at what do people need in order to succeed around their technology usage. Our motto at Simatree is exceptional people empowering exceptional people, and from the start, we've wanted to find great people that we could bring together and align with great businesses. Everything for us is about alignment, and when you do that with your people and your technology, then powerful things happen and organizations can realize their potential. Sometimes organizations don't quite know why they're rolling out a technology in the first place which can lead to a total mismatch between a strategy with a technology rollout. The goal of what we try to do in our change management work is create a more effective alignment so that people can see themselves in what's happening. People get stuck because they're used to doing their jobs and living their lives a certain way, which is informed by what we call MEL: Memory, Emotions and Learning. When we come in to change that, we try and make the most effective to help them understand why they need to create new memories and effective emotions that will help them get unstuck. Commercial break My co-author Victoria Grady, and I teamed up and over a decade we have looked at about 130 organizations, pulled the data to write a book. We hope that the book gives someone a little bit of guidance on how they can get unstuck for either something personal or something in the workplace. Each chapter has exercises at the end to help people apply the concepts and the exercises at any level. Research suggests that there was flexibility at the start of the pandemic because people did all go through a shared experience. Now, organizations have a challenge around building culture due to increased flexibility and loss of human connection, yet building culture ultimately does require some connectivity. If you're not thinking about how you're creating and teaching the next generation in this time, they are going to walk out of the door because they won't feel like they're growing. Even if we come up with all the best ideas in the world, but they're not adopted nor used in any organization, they won't succeed. Regardless of your position in your organization, the key to helping people when they're stuck, is to try to make sure that you understand and connect with them by being empathetic. Make sure you leverage your memories, emotions and learning to connect with other people's memories, emotions and learning, because that's how you're going to get through to them. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? We have had lots of people working to find every available discount by every insurance company on our platform to help people save money. Over the years, people have been programmed by the commercials by insurance companies to think that the only differentiator is price, and nothing could be further from the truth. We created Rateguard, which is an insurance shopping platform, that has discount discovery infused in it and a lot of artificial intelligence behind it. People spend a significant amount of money for insurance, so we teach people using our platform to think holistically about what you're going to spend and develop a plan. Commercial break I looked back at the phases of my career and was able to consolidate it all into this offering now in a neat fashion. Our famously friendly humans is our hallmark and we use technology to accelerate that. Technology does not in itself, create growth, rather it allows great companies to accelerate that growth. When you are intentional about that user experience and the customer journey, you can wow people. “I want to make sure that I'm getting a lot of thought leadership out there in the industry, with the hope that more and more people will get more accustomed to automation.” Gil Mayron Automation is here with us, and has been taking place at a global level for a while now. For businesses that have embraced automation, the results speak for themselves. Yet still, other businesses see automation as a futuristic development that is yet to change the way we do business. Being at the center of the revolution, Gil Mayron notes that automation is here to stay, and that the businesses that don't embrace it will most likely decline in the coming future. Gil Mayron is the Founder and CEO of Cobot Nation, Architects of Automation. Gil is a pioneer of the consumer 3D Printing industry aas the founder and CEO of Botmill 3D, which manufactured and sold the first fully assembled consumer 3D printers. Botmill was acquired by 3D Systems Corp (NYSE:DDD). Mr. Mayron continued to lead corporate development strategies for the consumer division at 3D Systems. He composed the first ever licensing deals involving 3D printing with Sony, Viacom, NBA, Dreamworks and many others. Over the past decade plus, Mr. Mayron has molded much of the 3D printing industry as it relates to manufacturing and innovation. His expertise in the creative application of such technologies, not only led him to be a leader in capital equipment sales, but an integral influencer and driver of strategic development solutions for his customers. This includes time spent as Chief Marketing Officer for Graphene 3D Labs, in which he created their first collaborative conductive material agreements with Lego, Bosch, and LocalMotors, and as Director of 3D at AIS As a recognized leader in the early adoption of hardware manufacturing technologies, Mr. Mayron currently sits on the Board of Directors for the UNLV School of Engineering. He's previously held a Board position with Mosaic Manufacturing, a 3D Printer Hardware Co. He is a current contributor and retired faculty member at the Adelson Educational Campus in Las Vegas, NV, where he facilitated their state-of-the-art technology incubator, helping students ideate and execute startups. Gil Mayron currently resides in Las Vegas, NV with his wife and two children. In today's episode, Gil talks about his journey that led him into venture in to cobots. He also explains why automation is inevitable, especially where businesses efficiency and consistency is is crucial for success. Listen in! Media Links; https://cobotnation.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/gilmayron/ https://www.linkedin.com/company/cobot-nation/ https://twitter.com/cobotnation https://www.instagram.com/cobotnation/ I got into 3D printing in 2008, and our company rapidly grew which led us to sell the company, but handled all the corporate development for the consumer division. I later started to look into all the automation stuff and found that it was very similar to 3d printing and started Cobot Nation. At Cobot Nation we do Cobots which are collaborative robotics that can work with or without a human. All the solutions we make work with humans, and we are the only US manufacturer of automation solutions that goes direct to the customer. 3d printing is inherently slow, and we are always trying to find a way to speed it up and so automation is one of the areas that saves time. Commercial Break I want to make sure that I'm getting a lot of thought leadership out there in the industry with the hope that more and more people will get more accustomed to automation. Automation allows for consistency and increased margins, and after COVID, we're seeing a massive increase in automation; Right now I'm on a mission to get automation out there and define Cobots, as well as scale very, fast. The legacy brands which may still be strong now, may not survive when a startup comes out with a better and cheaper way of doing things. For entrepreneurs, enjoy the grind as it lasts, and life will get easier at the end if you do it right. ………………………………………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? "We can all gain more insights and improve the world around us." Darshan Mehta Regardless of the kind of business you are involved in, information is always essential for the decisions that you make. Research helps businesses gain better insights about their markets as well as provide answers to various business problems. Darshan Mehta has a passion for finding solutions for problems, and says that it all starts with having conversations that reveal insights. Darshan Mehta is the Founder of iResearch.com – an insights platform to quickly and affordably extract insights from consumers worldwide, and ConnectQik.com – an app for instant connections and engaging interactions. In 2021, he plans to launch Big Mango Startup Hub in collaboration with King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi in Bangkok, Thailand. In addition to his roles at iResearch and ConnectQik, Mr. Mehta has taught at The George Washington University in Washington D.C., at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, at Thammasat University in Thailand, at Sciences Po in France and the Franklin University in Switzerland. Darshan's book, Getting to Aha! -- Why Today's Insights are Tomorrow's Facts -- explores the nature of insights: what they are, how to uncover them, and how to use them to drive innovation and audience engagement. In today's episode, Darshan talks about the benefits of research and especially focus groups, as well as how his companies are helping people become more insightful. Listen in! My love for solutions eventually led me to management consulting, and I've been doing it for over 20 years. Research is structured curiosity and involves delving deeper into learning about what's really going on or what's driving something. Of the two ways to do research which are either surveys or focus groups, I found that there is really great value in the latter. There's insights all around us, and if you can tap into it before your competitors you get to have an advantage and a leg up to differentiate and be successful. Business is all about making strategic business decisions that minimize risk, and businesses really exist as long as your customers value what you're offering and are willing to pay for it. There's so many ways to differentiate, and that's the benefit of having these kind of conversations with your customers. If a brand builds brand equity through other means other than at the point of purchase, then that will differentiate from the pricing and even the positioning. One of the expensive things in research is focus groups because it's time consuming and expensive. The aim of iResearch.com is make it focus group research more affordable, easy and powerful by doing it online, anytime, anywhere, and in any language. ConnectQik allows you to create your own personalized QR code which people can scan it and get your customized contact instead of issuing business cards. It has three different profiles in your contacts which includes business, personal and custom, and this enables you to decide, based on who you're meeting, which profile you want to share. Once you're in connection with your contacts, if you update your contact information, it will automatically be updated on their phone as long as they're ConnectQik. It really is more about the input of the information and not necessarily giving it. Commercial break In my book, I talk about trends giving lots of examples on what businesses have done well, and not so well, and what people can learn from them. The book is about trying to get you to think a little bit differently, and to pursue having more conversations with your customers and staff. Companies that are constantly seeking insights and innovating on a regular basis, as well as meeting the needs of their customers, have their employees more energized, and engaged. If you can get your frontline people to be closer to customers, you will gain more insights, and it becomes a loop that kind of feeds itself. In my podcast, I invite guests on and try to have an aha moment with them in our conversations that we can share with the audience. Insights help people understand the underlying motivator or trigger that's really driving a need, and once they understand that, they're going to be in a better position to meet those needs. We can all gain more insights and improve the world around us .………………………………………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? “You have to get the process in place before you think about automating it, and also give people a non- judgmental and collaborative space to see the truth for themselves.” Slater Victoroff Unstructured data accounts for the largest part of the total data that businesses see and deal with on a daily basis. This therefore means that businesses must find ways and tools to process this data efficiently and with the least cost, and also reap some business advantages. This is according to Slater Victoroff, who also insists on the importance of having working processes in the organization. Slater Victoroff is the Founder and CTO of Indico, an enterprise AI solution for unstructured content that emphasizes document understanding. Slater has been building machine learning solutions for startups, governments, and Fortune 100 companies for the past seven years and is a frequent speaker at AI conferences. Indico's framework requires 1000x less data than traditional machine learning techniques, and they regularly beat the likes of AWS, Google, Microsoft, and IBM in head-to-head bake-offs. Indico recently announced a $22 million Series B raise. Slater has educated hundreds of business users on successfully implementing deep learning through a simple framework that helps executives rapidly accelerate the adoption of technology in their businesses. Slater attended Olin College of Engineering before pursuing Indico full-time after its acceptance into the Techstars Boston Program. In today's episode, Slater talks about the importance of simplifying processes and how his company is helping businesses do that, specifically with regards to processing unstructured data. Listen in! Bionic arms are not cyborgs, and at Indico, we champion this idea of the bionic arm because every action is in the person's control. From a business perspective, you get to have one consistent way of performing processes that is represented in code. Commercial break A huge part of our philosophy is having to meet people where they're at and at least helping then work in that world. Making enterprise technology usable, and understanding how it actually plugs into the broader ecosystem can be really challenging, yet often that is where the value is. One of the core reasons as to why it's got to be a bionic arm, is because we have to position the technology in a way that it empowers the subject matter expert. You have to get the process in place before you think about automating it, and also give people a non- judgmental and collaborative space to see the truth for themselves. The biggest thing that I have learned leading Indico over the years, and even more specifically with the kind of work that we do, is the power of process. The process is so often the key to taking things up to the next level, so walk into it with open eyes and recognize that it is a real challenge in its own right and not one to be taken lightly. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? The need to know and understand what is happening in real time can provide useful insights that businesses and individuals can use to make meaningful and impactful decisions. Social Media Handles https://www.fieldagent.net/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/rickwest01/ https://www.linkedin.com/company/field-agent/ What I realized early on in my career is that solving problems was a really good thing. In April 2010, we launched the first app in iTunes that paid cash, that used geolocation and metadata to provide real time data to masses. In an effort to solve a problem for me, I realized that everyone had the same problem and therefore saw an opportunity to scale it. Part of what we started to learn on the user side, is that we were helping people that were down on their luck, which felt good. For entrepreneurs, they were able to know within a short time and minimum cost, whether customers liked their products or not. The best advice I was ever given to me as an entrepreneur was that you are only as good as you invoice and collect, and that the Holy Grail is if the customer buys it again. If strangers are willing to pay you for your product, and they renew, go drive it by all means because it means that the market has spoken positively. Commercial Break We realized early on from a user base standpoint that we needed to have advocates that were not being paid by field agent, but were just passionate about the product. The second thing was understanding the power of the voice of our crowd and knowing how to leverage on it to solve the problem. If you've got a great product, word of mouth really is a thing and that goes back to the advocacy. You cannot keep asking friends and family if your baby is cute, you've got to go find strangers because they will tell you the truth. Even if you're not a technology person, our app is not that intimidating and is pretty basic. Relationships matter, and success and especially significance really follows the path of the depth and the breadth of relationships. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? ”The physical is exemplifying what's happening in the mental, and when we don't live from our soul's purpose, it has an effect on our body both mentally and physically.” Mary Welp If left uncontrolled, many of the unhelpful human states such as stress and anxiety can take over and become a source of pain. By enhancing mind-body control, people are able to exert more control over their thoughts and perceptions, thus improve the quality of life lived. This is according to Mary Welp, who also notes that such healing affects a whole generation and not only the individual. Mary Welp is a certified hypnotherapist specializing in Hypnotic Meditation. After 20 years of private practice as a Craniosacral therapist and 14 years as a certified hypnotherapist, she launched RISE Hypnotic Meditation to teach others how to bring meaningful, positive changes to their lives. She teaches a direct, easy, adaptable practice in 4 steps: Relax, Imagine, Suggest, and Empower. Mary helps those who are interested in self-improvement or anyone would like to get rid of a bad habit, fear, or imprint. She works within the following areas but not limited to: boundaries, social anxiety, sports performance, self-confidence, fear of rejection, optimism, procrastination, letting go of anger, guilt, improving sleep, grief and loss, and relationships. Her practice allows anyone to turn their attention inward to make a shift for the better in order to become a healthier, happier person. Since the pandemic, Mary has shifted her practice from one-on-one sessions to teaching. She now travels and teaches a three-hour workshop across the country which she likes to refer to as a marriage of meditation and self-hypnosis. Her mission is to spread this self-healing therapy to as many people as possible. Mary loves being a grandmother and lives in Louisville, Kentucky with her husband Jim. Aside from publishing her first book, RISE, Mary has also co-authored the book “The Ultimate Guide to Self-Healing Vol 5”, currently #1 on Amazon in Spirituality, Journaling, Holistic Medicine and Mind-Body connection. For the last year and three months, I've been traveling and teaching RISE as a three-hour workshop, teaching the steps and talking about why and how it works. I realized the diversity and definitiveness of self-hypnosis, and it does shift and change things giving your subconscious the opportunity to reprogram a little bit. As we grow, learn and we change, we get to have a more stable emotional, grounding way of life. A lot of people get stuck and get themselves in a hole, because of what life expects of us which normally isn't who we are. The physical is exemplifying what's happening in the mental, and when we don't live from our soul's purpose, it has an effect mentally and physically on our body. It's really about giving us the opportunity to live our highest goals and dreams. We have this opportunity to, not just have meaningful lives for ourselves, but also for those that follow us. When we do effect change in ourselves, it definitely has a ripple effect. Commercial Break I've written the rise hypnotic meditation book so that people can pick it up, read it, and know and how and why it works. When we're given that opportunity to sit and look at ourselves and our part in it, that opens up the door for change. When we have that intention to identify something that we need to change in ourselves, it shifts it. Tension is who you think you should be, and relaxation is who you are. If you scan your body now and then and connect with where you feel tension in your body, and breathe into that, you're going to be more authentically yourself. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? The first thing you do in hypnotherapy setting is to build rapport, which makes people feel comfortable, and therefore respond to the hypnosis much better. I use affirmations which I deliver at a certain point in the recording, and also use sound frequencies to make the recordings enjoyable to listen to, and experiential. I've made the recordings over a 20-year period and they've changed over time, and now I generalize the recordings and make them work for the majority. There are times I've re-recorded an old recording, and then people write in and ask for the original because they feel connected with it. When I make recordings, I totally believe in what I'm saying and what I'm delivering. You just have to be right for this job, because if you're in the right place, you get that ability to be able to help others. I saw a stage hypnotist doing his thing and I saw something in it in that moment, and that's what sparked my interest then went off and learned the therapeutic side. I never intentionally started to make recordings for any kind of business plan. I did it for a client who asked me for a recorded session. I started recording more tapes and sold them off to stores and it took off very quickly. I was meditating and doing affirmations about being in the right place at the right time, and my unconscious mind my conscious mind, were working in perfect synergy. I got a call from Nielsen book data and they said that I could have a gold disc for my title, because I had sold a quarter of a million pounds' worth, and I got a gold disc. I then realized I could use that as leverage promotional thing and I put that out there on all social media which led to BBC offering me a deal for all of my recordings. All the time I was working on my unconscious to clear away any negative failure programming because without doing that, it would have been much harder and I wouldn't have got this far. Commercial break You can create this program inside you, that the external world responds to automatically. If you take on board these affirmations and these beliefs on a deep level, the world responds to you and is incredible. This life is an amazing opportunity to grow and heal our Karma and awaken, and naturally, looking inside and meditation is the way to find that. A lot of my work is about helping people who are stuck, to move forward and work on themselves and go for the delayed gratification instead of the short term pleasure. Look at the influences in your life and do not be afraid to cut ties when people are holding you back or lowering your energy. Focus on creating your own safe place through a daily meditative practice and nurture yourself. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? I've been practicing for about a quarter of a century in Miami and also do a lot of writing and speaking in the areas leadership management, and mentoring. I think the biggest takeaway from what I've been doing, is that it's very fulfilling, but it also has certain opportunities that allow for growth. Each of us has something to offer that we can all learn from. Most of my books or writings, and the website is directed toward younger professionals as a whole. When I want to learn more about something I sit down and write a book about it. The way we conduct business has changed fundamentally, because traditionally, there was always an apprenticeship model. So much is learned at the feet of more experienced people and it is so important that no matter what career or job or opportunity you pursue, you seek out people who've done it already. Most teams these days are multi-generational and understanding what the needs of each generation is important. Commercial break We overlook how important personal relationships are, because we're so stuck on doing work and meeting certain deadlines. You can find a way to look outward and focus on other people's needs, which can draw you away from sadness and despair that sometimes follows us. I recommend people to sit down with their contact lists that they have and reach out to people often. If you're just sitting at your desk and not doing much else, it's hard to develop relationships that can grow your business. Keep in mind that we are now in sort of a new paradigm, and we have to be very cognizant of the habits we created both good and bad keep the good ones and try to change the not so good ones. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? We can let so many stereotypes get in our way and take so long before we're even at the place to embrace our true gifts. When I had my practice specializing in weight and hormones back then, I realized that the questions that were facing my clients were on a deeper level. There will always be a bit of that unknown, and we need to cultivate the curiosity to explore beyond what we can see. Commercial break In my journey I had to learn boundaries, and how to not manipulate energies. We know that the clearer we are, the more success and alignment we gain, which also means releasing of what was. When it comes to my patients, I always do these amazing combination of homeopathic, but also leave them with a couple of questions. We know, sign or not, that there is something more, but the challenge is how we work with that inner child into really thinking about what is next. The other kind of asterisk I always give to this is to make sure we check the macros and do the labs, but also the work on the mindset, because there is such a strong Mind Body Soul connection. We are correct with the moon, because we are part of nature, which means that it may hit our organs in a certain way, and cause firing issues. Using the charts, I find that we can learn more about ourselves by looking into the past to help us get an idea of not just for the future, but also the present. Fitness plays a major role in your mental health. Food can be the greatest medicine or a lowest form of poison for our bodies and our minds. I do not encourage people to go on diets for weight loss or for a desire to change their aesthetics, because it just continues to perpetuate diet culture and lead you back to the same place. There are powerful things that you can do and shift inside of what you're putting into your body when it comes to nutrition. I help people discover for themselves, what is helping them feel better, and what is contributing to them feeling worse. When it comes to the practice of functional medicine, we look at the whole person and I have my clients fill out a lot of questionnaires to gather that information. We do all have an innate ability to heal, and it's about ultimately about learning to come back to our bodies and learning to understand, trust and partner with our bodies. Commercial break Our thoughts and our beliefs have been indoctrinated into us and they lead us to make all these choices which don't give us what we truly want. When you start to shift your mindset and choose how you feel despite the current reality, you are going to be inspired to do actions that you were not inspired to take before. I help people to really tap into the power of movement on their mental health, because the truth is that exercise actually creates an antidepressant effect in our brain and body. Wake up your warrior podcast was born out of a need of hearing other people's stories, and seeing that it's possible to do something that you didn't think was possible, especially in mental health. I also bring on experts where we talk more about the science, the latest research and what's going on in the mental health world when it comes to functional medicine and neuroscience. “When you ignore your intuition, you incur twice the cost.” Sunil Godse In today's increasingly complex business environment, the biggest challenge that leaders face is decision making. The constant need to make quick and wise decisions means that leaders have to find resources beyond cognitive processing, that will help them make sound decisions. According to Sunil Godse , intuition plays a central role when making decisions, and can be a great tool for leaders when making business decisions. Sunil Godse helps those running businesses create a trusted brand by implementing a process he developed called intuitive branding that helps them unleash the power of intuition to make decisions that earns the trust of their employees and customers in under 14 seconds. When that happens, highly talented employees only want to work for them and fiercely loyal customers only prefer buying from them, stripping them away from other brands, which is exactly how they are able to eliminate their competition. With his experience doing the same as an entrepreneur, it led to over $20 million in revenues, before moving on to helping a significant number of businesses collectively earn millions in revenues, including major brands such as Citibank, SAP, Rogers Wireless, and Western Digital. His advice simply works. In this episode, Sunil talks about intuition and why is important to understand the role it plays in decision making, especially for business leaders. Listen in! Media Links https://www.linkedin.com/in/sunilgodse/ https://twitter.com/sunilgodse https://www.instagram.com/intuitivebranding101/ https://www.facebook.com/intuitivebranding101 https://www.tiktok.com/@intuitivebranding101 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYnuPjpIjX90q2wuSMe9YKw The journey of trying to get a good understanding of intuition came after I wrote my first book called Fail Fast, Succeed Faster. When I thought back to intuition, what we often do is we think back to a time when we ignored it, because that's when intuition was sort of the limelight in our lives. As an engineer, I needed more of a balance between the art and the science, and so I researched and found that we're actually born with intuition. The way that intuition works when it comes to trust is that it starts to develop an idea of trust by looking at you and you looking at me and body language tone in as little as 33 milliseconds. From a business context, if you do things the right way by tapping into your intuition, you earn the trust of your employees and customers within 14 seconds. From an intuitive perspective, there's four types of intuition that actually inform signals. First type of intuition is called experiential intuition and is developed from everyday experiences. The second one is situational intuition and the third of the four is called relational intuition. The fourth type is called Creative intuition which entails creative creativity and how people make risky decisions. Commercial break When you understand that your success is tied to how your intuition speaks to you in terms of the four types and your intuitive signals, then you understand how the intuition of others is going to work. When you shift from looking at managing positions to managing people in positions, you start to filter people into your business, and allow them to be more productive by using their four types of intuition. Change your messaging and your sales tactics by simply using your intuition to tap into your customers' intuition. When you ignore your intuition, it is twice the cost. Every decision that you want to make has to flow through the four types of intuition, and in that way, you will be able to make the right decision in every situation that you face. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? “The mindset is what you think, which becomes what you speak, and your words become your actions, and your actions become your reality.” Michael Anthony Everyone hopes for the best life has to offer. Unfortunately, not many people get through life unscathed, and these experiences can end up causing long lasting effects and great suffering, especially if left unresolved. Michael Anthony was able to successfully overcome his trauma and says it's all about discovering and creating your own identity. Michael Anthony is an advocate for adult survivors of child abuse, international speaker, and author. Michael has been called the "Tony Robbins of Trauma" and spends his time helping other survivors get out of The Vortex to become the hero of their own story and take their live back. Michael hosts both The Michael Unbroken and Think Unbroken Podcasts and blogs weekly at www.ThinkUnbroken.com In today's episode, Michael talks about his journey to discovering himself, and how he helps others in the path towards healing and building the life of their dreams. Media Links LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/traumasurvivormentorandcoach/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/michaelunbroken Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/michaelunbroken/?hl=en Many people have had some darkness happen in their childhood, and that held true for me at four years old. I spent the majority of my childhood deeply impoverished and homeless, lived with over 30 different families between eight to 12 years old. I was adopted by my racist grandmother when I was 12 years, got high for the first time at 12, drunk when I was 13 years and by the time I was 15 years, I was expelled from school for selling drugs. I eventually got a high school diploma and went to work but got fired and started to think to myself what the solution for poverty, homelessness and abuse was. I made a declaration of myself that by the time I was 21, I wanted to make $100,000 a year, legally. I landed a job with a fortune 10 company, and started making six figures, but my life became a disaster. I decided that I was going to stop negotiating with myself and work for results, no excuses. Trauma is not about the abuse but the theft of identity that we carry with us. The brain's only real true function is to make sure you survive. In the three years after I decided to heal, I came to the realization that the truth about healing trauma is discovering and creating your identity. My goal at Think Unbroken is very simple, end generational trauma in my lifetime through education and information by any means necessary. The number one thing that I try to do when people come in, is teach them practical skills, but also the foundational understandings of causation and correlation. You have got to get to that place to build the confidence in yourself, and be willing to have the courage to step through the threshold of the unknown, and find out whether who you think you are, is true or not. Commercial break The mindset is what you think, which becomes what you speak, and your words become your actions and your actions become your reality. I teach people when they come into coaching with me to be kind to themselves. When you understand the truth about your mindset, and how you've been set up for failure from the jump, that you have to make conscientious decisions and choices to build the life that you want. Authenticity is such a big part of the human experience and those who have suffered trauma, learn how to be inauthentic because they have to. The best part about this is recognizing the truth that who you are today does not have to be who you are tomorrow. The truth about life is that everything that you want is all possible, but you have to be willing to do everything possible to get results, no excuses. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? I felt so empowered and emboldened in my temperament, once I learned what it was, and that it contains a myriad of innate superpower. A lot of people who are highly sensitive don't know it, and so they don't take pride in their temperament. When I learned this of myself, I could not help but choose to further a movement of spreading HSP awareness and championing HSPs to thrive in a world that does not cater to our temperament. What has really been a huge advantage to me and running my business successfully is hiring an aligned team. Let your inner compass guide you in ways that are going to help you run your business in a way that's in alignment with your integrity. I consider myself as a self-advocacy authority, because we are the authorities of our own lives, minds and bodies. Listening to our intuition and choosing to take action to support it is a form of self-advocacy, and it's powerful. “831B is just a toolbox for business owners and for the right business owner, it's potentially a game changer.” Van Carlson Risk management has always been an important tool in running any business, particularly when a market experiences turbulent times. Understanding the types of risks that face your business and the mitigation tools available will help you be more strategic with how you cushion yourself and your business against adversity. This is according to Van Carlson, who has been helping business owners to manage risks by simplifying the 831b program. As Founder & CEO of SRA 831(b), Van is an innovator, developing products for a variety of industries that can take advantage of adding additional revenues while mitigating risk at the same time. By delivering institutional-type ideas to small-and-mid-sized business owners, SRA positions its clients at the forefront of their industry, allowing them to weather any storm. Van Carlson has an extensive background in Risk Management with more than 24 years in the industry. Prior to founding SRA, Van ran his own property and casualty firm for 15 years. With many commercial business owners as his clients, he saw the Great Recession of 2008 hit hard, and just like them, he was also affected by the sharp downturn in our economy. During this time, he realized there must be a better way to manage risk overall. From that desire to improve business operations for both himself and his clients, along with his extensive background in insurance, risk management, and finance, SRA was formed. Since its start in 2008, several changes in US Government regulations have allowed the business to thrive – substantiating what Van already believed in: businesses needed a better solution to mitigate risk and create a war chest for the future. In 2013, increases in domiciles allowed the company's success to skyrocket – with double-digit growth year over year In today's episode, Van provides insights on what code 831b is all about, and how businesses can benefit from the program. It took effort to get to where our company was able to be successful, and we're blessed in a lot of different ways from that standpoint. Mitigating risk is an important aspect of the business, because when running your own business, there are many unforeseen events that come your way. The 831B tax code, is the one we utilize for our clients, and it provides an incentive for you to manage risk that you either can't transfer to traditional carriers, or it's limited in scope. In instances where there is risk that you can't insure against, the 831B comes in to help mitigate the risk more effectively. The biggest worry for businesses is whether or not they can keep the cash flow they have, and keep it rolling forward to grow their business, and that is where the code comes in. We are an 831 B administrator, where we admin or clients' plans, make sure they stay compliant and that they're doing things they're supposed to be doing and enjoying the benefits. The greatest compliment we get from all of our clients is that they are more at peace knowing that they have signed into the program. We now have about 180 advisors around the country representing our product and present in all 50 states. Commercial break When I sit down with business owners today, they all know that they got to change and stop doing the same thing over and over again. There's a ton of unfunded risks that you can't transfer to traditional insurance companies and we bring a simple turnkey approach to it, and make sure that we're not complicating our business owners lives. 831B is just a toolbox for business owners and for the right business owner, it's potentially a game changer. Making profit is not easy in business, and when you do, you've got to recognize the risks you took to get there and know to mitigate that risk going forward. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? The sooner you realize that crises happen and passes, the more proactive you become in handling the situation, and that makes a difference. With the crisis response curve, the idea is to know that with every crisis, you need an approach that will get you through the shock and desperate phase as quickly as possible. Businesses do start with a vision, however, the problem is that some fail to make it over five years because their vision is not supported by numbers. After working as a traditional financial advisor and stock coach for several years, Chris came to a stark realization that the financial advising industry was not showing anyone how to quickly and safely become financially prosperous today. After leaving that industry, Chris was able to retire when he was 28, and has since worked to teach his effective, unique strategies, for companies like Freedom Fast Track and Garrett Gunderson, and now Money Ripples, while exposing the popular myths around money that have kept so many from enjoying financial freedom and peace of mind. Chris consistently practices and teaches small business owners how to do what no other financial advisers can or will – achieve financial prosperity, now and in the future, spending time doing what they love most. In this episode, Chris talks about some of the investment options that have attractive returns, and also highlights on the importance of information when making investment decisions. One thing I noticed 20 years ago when I was a financial advisor is that most of my colleagues and clients were not financially free. That opened my eyes and I started to see this whole new world that I was never taught as a financial advisor. I realized that it wasn't about accumulating money, but was about cash flow. Everyone talks about financial future but nobody talks about the financial present, yet if we can adjust the present now and create an actual present for you today, that will take care of the future for itself. There's so many ways that you can leverage and use your money to create more and better types of returns. Commercial break We help people create a plan and connect them with actual vetted investments, which doesn't mean that they're risk free. We also do have a wealth accelerator academy which is an online interactive training program that gives you all the education you need to improve your cash flow. There never just one strategy that's going to get you to a financially secure future. Infinite banking is a specific strategy that you can use to create this tax free, supercharged savings account. Most people don't have hope because they are ignorant to the possibilities that are available for them to invest in. Look at the evidence that shows financial freedom and go with it. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? “If you want to sell your business in future, focus on getting the business to have consistent cash flow, and having it to operate on autopilot.” Bharat Kanodia. Understanding the business, and having an accurate valuation is essential for every business owner. This is especially true when they are assessing business opportunities and costs. In order to effectively plan for the growth and eventual transition of your businesses, you need to focus on the important factors, and valuation is at the heart of it all. This is according to Bharat Kanodia, who also notes that when it comes to valuation, getting accurate information is important for effective decision making. Bharat Kanodia has valued over 4000 companies and assets worth $2.6 trillion. He has appraised unique assets including the Golden Gate Bridge, Atlanta Airport, Uber, Airbnb, Yahoo!, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the Mirage Casino Las Vegas, among many others. Bharat is the Founder of Veristrat, a company that advises startup founders and venture capitalists on valuations. Bharat lives in the San Francisco Bay area with his family and enjoys sailing, golfing, skiing, and horseback riding In today's episode, Bharat talks about the unique role he plays in valuing assets. After 9/11 happened, my company at that time, American appraisal, got a contract from Lloyds of London and their brokers to appraise a list of 200 assets around the world I got some assets to appraise and it was a learning experience for me and my colleagues and my company also gained a lot of money. I've since done many interesting projects and been privy to some very unique assets, and when other appraisers don't know how to do it, I get called to step in. If you want to sell your business in future, you got to focus on two things which are first, that buyers of businesses are looking to buy businesses with consistent cash flow. Second thing is that buyers or businesses don't want to do anything to enjoy that cash flow and therefore want a business that perform on autopilot to a great extent. Commercial break Strategy session is really where you're mixing practicality of what's happening on the ground with your higher level of thinking At this point I get to pick the clients that I want to work with, and for me good clients are people who are open to listening. “Find ways to plug additional value into your offers rather than discounting.” Marco Torres While price is a primary consideration when customers make purchases, cutting prices may not always be the best strategy for your clients, and ultimately for your business to stay competitive. On the contrary, value addition can help you attract customers which will make you stay ahead of other businesses and remain competitive. Marco Torres is in the business of marketing and encourages businesses to embrace value addition as a way to increase your client base and grow revenue. Marco Torres is the Founder of MarketingBoost.com. He has helped thousands of business owners worldwide boost sales and scale their businesses by as much as 5-fold through the use of incentive-based marketing. He teaches entrepreneurs how to soar sales & marketing through the use of “Value-Add-Incentives” instead of discounts. Marco Torres has been an entrepreneur since age 9 when he started his first business as a paperboy. By the age of 12, he had the biggest paper route in San Juan Puerto Rico where he grew up, and was featured on the front page of the newspaper for his accomplishment. Born in San Antonio Texas from Mexican heritage, Marco inherited the spirit of adventure from his parents. His dad Charlie was transferred with General Electric GECC , to San Juan Puerto Rico to take over the Caribbean market. His parents packed up and left their home and family to move across the sea to the small island of Puerto Rico in the 1960s. That set the stage for Marco to grow up with the spirit of adventure and entrepreneurship. Marco aka “Capt. Marco” (the avid sailor) now spends most of his working time helping small and medium-sized businesses boost sales, and improve conversion rates without spending more money with the use of the Travel incentives his firm provides with a low-cost subscription model starting at only $37 a month. He and his partners have revolutionized the incentive industry by making complimentary hotel stay certificates from 3 to 7 nights in over 125 worldwide destinations, plus hotel savings cards, and restaurant vouchers incredibly affordable, allowing the small business to stand out from the crowd and compete with the big boys. In today's episode, Marco talks about the importance of adding value to products and services as opposed to discounting, as well as how marketing boost can be an ideal option for businesses to offer greater value to their clients. Listen in! Media Handles https://marketingboost.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/6101960marcotorres/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/1988225651450719/ Get a special offer from Marketing boost: www.marketingboost.com/podcast One of the early lessons I learned from very early on is finding relationships with people better than I am and form partnerships. By the time I was 23 years, partnering my older brother and my mother, we owned five restaurants and I owned a nightclub with another partner. In my entire career, I've probably generated over a billion dollars in sales in one form or another for myself and my clients. I've got a little bit of an idea on how to make those calls to action be a little more effective and generate more sales. When we first launched marketing boost, it came about as an offshoot from another business of ours in the travel space. We faced the challenge of having negative reviews in our travel site and started to look for ways to overcome this challenge. To solicit positive reviews, we came up with an idea to generate positive video testimonials from our clients which we promised to reward with a complimentary hotel stay. Today we have over 30,000 video testimonials for that one website alone, which we've leveraged into. When we had to pay for the complimentary tours, we went back to our hotel partners, and we built what we have today, which is a win win win. When we decided to do this, we decided we were going to revolutionize the travel incentive business. We made our travel incentives super easy to use and made it super affordable for anybody to join our subscription program, and have access to these incentives. Peak seasons and weekends record less availability, but we average about 32 weeks out of 52 weeks of availability at each of the destinations. Commercial break You join marketing boost for $37 and any business owner can do that. One reason to avoid giving discounts is clients start to wait for you to offer your next promo cycle before they get involved in whatever your next sales cycle is. Instead of discounting, you could add more value since psychological studies have proven that consumers are more likely to take action with an added value as opposed to discounts. Business owners can use our travel incentives as added value to attract more interactions and action from clients. When you pay $37 a month, that gives you access to give away an unlimited amount of all three of these incentives that we offer. For the complimentary hotel stays, someone's has to pay the activation fee, and most of our members let the client pay for that. Hotel savings cards are like a gift card, but they don't cover the entire room cost but essentially save between 10 and 50% off of the rooms. You have to you have to use the incentives appropriately, otherwise, they may sound too good to be true and they won't help you at all. Marketing boost is not the magic bullet that's going to solve everything especially if you don't already have a good business, product and service. Find ways to plug additional value into your offers rather than discount and marketing boost can do that. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? “When looking at success in whichever capacities, begin with the end in mind, and by doing that you can focus on making the best possible choice.” Joseph Templin Every day you make decisions that either moves you forward or sets you back financially. Your beliefs about money, yourself and the world will inform every aspect of how you deal with money, and therefore is important to fully understand these held convictions. This is according to Joseph Templin, who helps his clients to understand why they make choices that they do around money matters, and why it is important to consider the bigger picture. Reformed physicist, financial planner, startup founder and autodidactic polymath best described as a Swiss Army Knife, Joseph Templin, often referred to as Joe, has invested the past two and a half plus decades to helping others reach their financial potential as a planner, trainer, mentor and creator. Joe has served as a member of NAIFA (the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors) on the local, state, and national level, and including three terms on the NAIFA National Young Advisors Team (YAT) Subcommittee and was honored as one of the 2011 Four Under 40. After I graduated I maintained my student lifestyle because I knew that deferred compensation was the best model. I never let my lifestyle grow as fast as my income which gave me a lot of flexibility long range. One of the big differences among the financial classes in the United States is people who are truly rich buy tremendous value for things that can last for decades as opposed to the quick fix. People don't realize that if you can save on one area, that allows you to have more output because you dedicate it to things that actually pay dividends. One of the things is you can tell what class somebody is by their philosophy and attitude around money. If you can trade time for money, that's work, and if you can change money for time, that's leisure. Our understanding about money and our philosophies on money are carried forth and reflected in our decisions. One of the questions that I ask my clients is to tell me about their earliest and or strongest memory of money from growing up, and how that has influenced you. It is important to invest the time essentially on financial counseling to understand why you and your significant other make financial choices and come up with a unified family philosophy. Having a unified philosophy is important and ensuring that it can pass on down to the next generation. Commercial break If you really understand why you want to do something, it makes the discussions around it a lot easier, because you're clear about what your value and concern is. “When you think about your finances, stop predicting, start planning and stay mindful.” Jonathan DeYoe Most people have free-floating anxiety about anything to do with money. However, embracing mindfulness in financial planning allows us to include personal experiences, emotions and thoughts when making financial decisions. This is according to Jonathan DeYoe, who notes that life can be less stressful when we stop trying to solve problems that have not happened yet, and focus on what presently have. Jonathan DeYoe is a Lutheran Seminarian turned Buddhist academic turned financial advisor. He has been an investor for over 40 years and an advisor for almost 30. In 2021, he merged his wealth management practice into EP Wealth – a national fiduciary firm where he continues to work with his clients. After losing his only sibling in 2021, he wanted to return to a vision that he and his brother shared. In 2006, they had cofounded a company, Worker's Financial, to bring education, financial coaching, and tools to people who were either struggling to get started or recovering from some form of financial ruin. Jonathan speaks and writes about personal finance, wealth & culture, and behavioral wealth for news outlets like businessinsider.com and MindBodyGreen.com. He is the author of the Amazon Bestseller Mindful Money: Simple Practices for Realizing Your Financial Goals and Increasing Your Happiness Dividend. He has been featured in the N.Y. Times and the Wall Street Journal and he speaks locally and nationally on the intersection of money and mindfulness. Today, his company, Mindful Money, offers low-cost financial education, a DIY personal financial planning course, and group financial coaching that can enable people to put their money lives into the larger context of their total lives and build “True Wealth.” Jonathan is passionate about spreading a goal-focused and planning-driven approach to money that helps people enjoy better financial outcomes AND live happier lives. In today's episode, Jonathan speaks about the concept of mindfulness in financial planning and how he helps his clients contextualize their plans. Listen in! The happiness factors that determine well-being, are not unique to people with the money. You can judge the choice of an expense, given the lack you see in other places, but you have to admit that you have no idea. I have this background where I meditate a lot, and I really think about the meaning of life and what makes people happy. I entered the financial world where I was an advisor and a broker on Wall Street and I realized that everyone was predicting things that are not predictable. The concept of the application of mindfulness, the non-judgmental awareness of the present moment to finance sort of became natural. I was scared and second guess myself but over time I became convinced and so it took me until I think 2019 to rename my firm Mindful Money. The reality is, you can have better financial outcomes and happiness dividends if you do this the right way, which is separating it all out and focusing on the long term. People are not capable of planning for a future that they can't imagine, and so it is important to get people out of their current self and get them thinking about a lifetime. Commercial break Majority of people who come to me are looking for wisdom around the retirement plan. The difference between us and most advisors is we tell clients right up front that because we can't predict the future, we have to make decisions around different timeframes. With regards to how or when mindfulness does come into play, we talk about ideas of mindfulness without naming mindfulness in the very beginning. The value an advisor can provide is just how people can contextualize issues in a life that's complex and has lots of moving pieces. When you think about your finances, stop predicting, start planning and stay mindful. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? “Aim high, keep it specific enough to give you direction, but open enough to make sure you're exploring and not pigeon holing yourself to where you will have regrets.” Alan Lazaros In order to be more self-aware and get to maximize your potential, it is important to slow down and reflect on the substantial changes that happen to your life. This is according to Alan Lazaros, who notes that productivity and fulfillment are a byproduct of self-development, contribution to a larger cause, and living in the present. Alan Lazaros is the Founder & Host of Next Level University, a Global Top 100 Self-Improvement podcast with more than 900 episodes reaching over half a million people in more than 100 countries. At age 26, getting into a nearly fatal car accident himself, he began to question everything, including who he was and the choices he was making. Now it's his mission to help others maximize their potential & design lives & businesses they love on their own terms. In this episode, Alan talks about how people can achieve better life outcomes that are fulfilling to them and the people around them. My mom sat me down when I was seven years old she gave me the best lesson I've ever heard which was to aim high, and I'll have choices. Fast forward, I got into my dream school and became an electrical and computer engineering graduate with distinction. I went back for my MBA and then I did a bunch of job hopping and eventually landed a company called Cognex. I got into an accident that left me mentally, emotionally and spiritually messed up and I started questioning everything about my life. Now I've got this North Star that I wear around my neck which is my guide. As I reflected on my life, I saw two stars I'd never seen before, Tony Robbins' TED Talk and Bronnie Ware's book called ‘The Top Five Regrets of the Dying.' Now I have a podcast, Next Level University and we have reached out to 120 plus countries, coaching people all over the world. Learning about these individuals, I go to learn that we don't shine as bright as we could, because we're afraid of what people will think about us. We try to stay small due to the insecurities of others, and it doesn't help the world the way that we need to help the world. People say life is about the journey which I agree, but one thing that is important is that the destination you choose in advance dictates the journey. I think life is a dance between exploration and refocus where you go out and you explore and you double down on the things you do like, and you eliminate the things you don't, Regret is the soul's recognition of misalignment with its highest calling. Aim high, keep it specific enough to give you direction, but open enough to make sure you're exploring and not pigeon holing yourself to where you're will have regrets. Commercial break I always check in with my clients with a simple maximization triad which is a simple triangle with three sides. Number one is maximizing one's own unique potential, number two is how one is maximizing one's own unique greatest level of contribution Number three is about money and profitability and is how one is maximizing their own unique quality of life. Money should not be number one, in my opinion but it shouldn't be number five, either. Life improves when we improve and when we improve we get better. If you are a wonderful, good intentioned human being, who truly wants to improve the quality of their life, what is best for you should be best for others. The world needs more fulfilled human beings, because hurt people, hurt people. Ignorance and apathy are the two root causes of all human suffering, and knowledge and care is the cure. ………………………………………………… Do you want to be a go to expert that news reporters, anchors and media producers turn to? “Start to take saving and investing particularly seriously, and as early as possible.” Simon Brady We know that we need to invest in our financial future, but tackling it can be so daunting and downright overwhelming. It however doesn't have to be that hard, especially for young people who still have the time and potential to accomplish their financial goals. Simon Brady helps people to plan their personal finances, and insists that the only person in charge of taking care of your financial future is yourself. Simon Brady grew up in London but came to Wall Street in the late 1980s as a trader. He worked there for over 20 years in both currencies and equities before turning to personal financial planning and setting up his own fee-only firm, Anglia Advisors, which is a personal finance and investment consultant that specializes in working with younger individuals, couples and families looking to secure their financial futures. I got qualified as a certified financial planner and set up my own firm, Anglia advisors. My compensation method is completely different where I work per hour basis and with that model, I was able to work with younger people who have a lot going on and need a lot of hand-holding. I love it when people come to me at an early stage because there's so much we can do if you give me 40 years of time horizon. The transactional commission based financial advisors are not really incentivized to talk to you about that they can't monetize. I get paid the same regardless of what we are talking about, so I can have a very wide range of conversation topics with people. Commercial break When someone reaches out to me, I always want to try and establish in that first discussion why they are reaching out. I establish what kind of agenda we're going to put together, and it really is up to the client to put the agenda together. The pandemic reminded quite a few people about their mortality which sort of reinforced that very unexpected things can happen. There has been an increase in the general awareness that you can plan your life out in the way that you want to. Some people that come to me do so because they've got a plan and they want me to come back and endorse what they're doing. The delegators outsource everything about their finances to me, and my model permits me to work with all these people. The key here is you got to buy an asset that generally doesn't kick off any income because if you have no income, you pay no income tax.
