Is the label "biblical" helping or hurting how we approach faith, church, and cultural challenges? In this thought-provoking episode of the Voxology Podcast, Mike and Tim explore the pitfalls of using "biblical" as a rigid brand, how it impacts theology, and its effects on navigating issues like justice, community, and interpretation of Scripture. They discuss the importance of reading the Bible in community, embracing humility, and fostering critical thinking to form faithful and wise communities. Drawing on listener feedback, they tackle how Scripture has been used both to liberate and to harm and ask what it means to embody a cruciform way of living. The conversation dives into the role of the church in society, the balance between individual and communal faith practices, and the dangers of reducing the Bible to oversimplified categories. With humor, deep insight, and a commitment to justice and Jesus' teachings, this episode invites you to rethink how we engage with Scripture and one another. #bible #selfimprovement #foundationforintentionalcommunity #biblestudy #importanceofchristiancommunity #bible #solascriptura #livingbythebook #eisegesisvs.exegesis #biblestudy Chapters 00:00 Introduction and Week Recap 02:51 Modeling for a Glamping Resort 06:05 Podcast Updates and Listener Feedback 09:07 Discussion on Bible Accessibility and Interpretation 11:57 The Role of Community in Bible Reading 18:09 Intent Behind Bible Study 21:05 Unity and Diversity in the Bible 26:00 The Purpose of the Bible in Community 30:09 Critique of Biblical Branding 34:02 Closing Thoughts on Wisdom and Learning 35:25 The Limitations of Biblical Prepackaging 38:51 The Harm of Misusing Biblical Concepts 44:52 Understanding the Bible as a Cross-Cultural Experience 51:59 The Three Elements of Biblical Interpretation 59:52 The Importance of Context in Biblical Texts 01:06:01 The Dark History of Biblical Misinterpretation 01:09:55 Navigating Modern Misinformation and Biblical Understanding As always, we encourage and would love discussion as we pursue. NEW FORMAT TEST!YO! AJ HERE! It's been a while! I've been thinking about ways to utilize the Directly to You channels in a way that will help grow Re:Direct as a whole and one of the ways I landed on was to start to upload them on the podcast feed & see if it resonates with people while HOPEFULLY not cannibalizing the main bread & butter.HERE'S WHAT I'M THINKING! Every week I (mostly) I upload scripted videos to YouTube in a video essay format - these videos are definitely enhanced with the visual context but they don't necessarily NEED to be consumed in this way so they would be a good fit here.In addition to that, I stream (at least) 3 times a week on Twitch. These streams vary in format and in topic & to be fully transparent in use case. Namely, I started a retrospective series where I am playing through the main series Pokemon games on stream to see if they aged well enough to validate the notion of "Game Freak getting lazy) with the end goal of consolidating that experience and my thoughts on each game into a hybrid format of a stream cutdown, a video review, & a standard Re:Direct video essay. THESE STREAMS do not make sense to upload here because it's a mix of me talking about the game(s) and a bunch of other stuff you need the video and the chat to have context to AND EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY paid members get access to that sort of ancillary content for main channel videos. These streams don't fit here. HOWEVER there are streams that I do and that I plan to do that are MUCH more podcast-like. Tier Lists, Reactions, Discussions, & things of that ilk will happen on stream as we enter the Switch 2 era & those will show up here.LET ME KNOW THOUGHTS Either in comments of platforms that have them, or on socials, or in the RD Discord. All of which will be link in the shownotes for THIS video/audio log thing below. As far as that is concerned, I'm just gonna copy and paste the description lol.Support Re:Direct through our Memberships &/or Merch!

We're halfway through May, and let's be real - this spring market isn't what most realtors hoped for.Deals are dragging. Offers are few. Listings are sitting. Buyers want to move but are hesitant. Sellers want premium pricing, but the market won't support it. And agents? They're feeling stuck - and their income is showing it.So in this episode, we're not ranting - we're resetting.I'll show you how to generate momentum even when the market's slow, how to lead when your clients are frozen, and how the best agents are still getting deals done when nothing seems to be moving.Plus, I share some personal reflections from the recent TRREB Realtor Quest Conference - including a real talk breakdown of what worked, what didn't, and what it all says about the state of the industry. If you're feeling stuck, this one's for you.
Hello and welcome back to another podcast! Today we wanted to bring you a quick update on the podcast situation and some Club America news!
The sitting President of the United States decided to poke his nose in the business of college athletics. He threatened to take action and then named committee. Listen to hear what all the fuss was about and where could it take us. The House continue to take up time and space in our hearts, minds and worlds. Judge Wilkens has bent over backwards to give proper guidance on roster limits to the member institutions(the schools) that make up the NCAA. She have given more than hints. Judge Wilkins has given a road map to the schools and their leadership on how to get her to approve the House case settlement. On the other hand the schools and their leadership have to decided to play a game of chicken with Judge Wilkins and basically stated, no thanks, we will continue to do things as we see fit when comes to roster limits. If they don't do what she wants, things could get very messy for the school and very costly. The next week or so could be interesting for the smaller schools who don't want to pay their athletes , but would "NOT" be able stay alive if they lose in court. Remember these are the school that always voted to keep the amateurism model, not the Power 4 schools. If Judge Wilkins re-opens the House case, it's going to be a blood bath. So, why are these School leaders want to play a game of chicken with Judge Wilkens. Changes are afoot! As I mention at the top of this episode, we'll be moving to a bimonthly schedule and trying to live by the ethos of “quality over quantity”. You're going to see a more nuanced, dual perspective between sales leaders and the CEO's who need them. I can't wait to show you what we have in store over the next few weeks. Today's guest Jason Abell (President of Rewire, Inc.) joins the discussion to share insights on effective leadership and the importance of core values in navigating tough times. Jason highlights common mistakes leaders make in meetings and provides practical advice on fostering a positive company culture. Together, we delve into the significance of leaders speaking last, the authenticity in sales, and the role of core values in sustaining businesses. The conversation closes with Jason giving a very thoughtful answer to my usual question : “What's your relationship to cigars?” So grab your cigar, grab a cocktail and strap in for an impactful episode. This is a good one for sales pros and leaders alike.
