Wann macht es Sinn, ein Family Office zu gründen – und was ist das überhaupt? Das diskutiert Moderatorin Nadine Kammerlander vom WHU Institut für Familienunternehmen und Mittelstand in dieser Episode mit David Zimmer, seriellem Gründer, Erfolgsunternehmer und Geschäftsführer seines Family Office „Kalodion.“ „Es ist wieder ein höherer Grad an Freiheit und Selbstbestimmtheit“, erklärt Zimmer. Er hatte 2007 das Glasfaserunternehmen inexio gegründet, das vor gut zwei Jahren für geschätzt rund eine Milliarde Euro an den schwedischen Investor EQT verkauft wurde und nun im Zusammenschluss mit der Deutsche Glasfaser der drittgrößte Anbieter von Glasfaser-Anschlüssen in Deutschland ist. Zimmers Idee war damals, Glasfaser dort zu verlegen, wo die Telekom nicht hinkommt – nämlich im ländlichen Raum. Mit dem gleichen unternehmerischen Esprit geht er jetzt an sein Family Office heran. „Mein Thema sind Start-ups und die Weiterentwicklung von Start-ups, denen ich dabei helfe, sich von einer Idee in ein richtiges Unternehmen zu entwickeln“, sagt Zimmer, der sein Expertenwissen mit spürbarer Leidenschaft über Kalodion für die Beratung und Betreuung vielversprechender junger Firmen einsetzt. Für ihn bedeutet das Family Office wieder mehr Unternehmertum, als es in den oft vorgegebenen Abläufen eines Konzerns möglich ist. „Ich wollte noch mal mehr selbstbestimmt und mit mehr direktem Impact arbeiten können, und dazu gibt mir das Family Office die Möglichkeit“, sagt er. Für welche Familien und für welche langfristigen Zwecke ein Family Office sinnvoll ist, erläutert Dominik Müller. Le sujet : Avec la crise du COVID-19 et l'envahissement de l'Ukraine par la Russie, l'inflation commence à sévir. Nous verrons dans cet épisode quels sont les investissements à privilégier pour se protéger de l'augmentation générale et durable des prix. L'invité du jour : Après une belle carrière en banque et en Venture Capital, Julien Etaix se charge aujourd'hui de gérer le patrimoine d'une famille (“Single Family Office”). C'est un passionné d'investissement. Fun fact : il a acheté sa première action 13 ans sur le minitel ! Au micro de Matthieu Stefani, cofondateur de CosaVostra, Julien nous parle d'un sujet chaud en ce début d'année 2022 : l'inflation. De quoi s'agit-il ? Est-ce vraiment un mauvais événement pour les investisseurs ? Comment s'en protéger ? Il nous donne les clés pour comprendre ce phénomène majeur de la macroéconomie. ## C'est quoi l'inflation ? C'est un indice qui est mesuré par des instituts statistiques. En France, l'INSEE mesure l'inflation au travers le panier de subsistance : un ensemble fixe de biens et services, actualisé chaque année. Il sert à se rendre compte si le coût de la vie augmente, pour une partie de la population. ## Pourquoi parle-t-on de l'inflation aujourd'hui (1er trimestre 2022) précisément ? Il y a deux types d'inflation : la “bonne inflation”, qui se manifeste lorsque l'économie est en croissance (investissement, création d'emplois, taux d'intérêt bas) ; et la “mauvaise inflation”, portée par la hausse des prix des matières premières. Aujourd'hui, c'est le second type d'inflation qui se manifeste du fait de l'envahissement de l'Ukraine par la Russie, impactant fortement le prix des matières premières. ## Quel rapport entre les taux d'intérêt et l'inflation ? Le taux d'intérêt est un outil de la Banque Centrale. Plus elle fixe des taux d'intérêt élevés, plus les crédits demandés par les agents économiques auprès des banques commerciales coûtent cher. Ce sont ces crédits qui sont à l'origine de la création monétaire. Or, plus il y a de monnaie en circulation dans l'économie, plus l'inflation augmente. Ainsi, pour diminuer l'inflation, les banques centrales peuvent augmenter les taux d'intérêt. Si les taux d'intérêt sont trop élevés, les acteurs économiques vont diminuer leurs demandes de crédits (car emprunter leur coûte trop cher). Ainsi, la création monétaire va ralentir… Tout comme l'inflation ! Par contre, lorsque les taux d'intérêt augmentent, les entreprises investissent moins, l'emploi ralenti et l'immobilier coûte plus cher. C'est donc un subtil équilibre que de fixer le niveau des taux d'intérêt. Depuis une dizaine d'années dans la Zone Euro, ces taux approchent les 0% : un signal favorable de la part des Banques Centrales, pour les banques commerciales. Aux Etats-Unis, les taux d'intérêt sont bas depuis la crise du COVID-19. Aujourd'hui, les Banques Centrales américaines et européennes annoncent une hausse des taux d'intérêt. ## Quels sont les secteurs qui se défendent plus ou moins bien face à l'inflation ? Investir dans les entreprises de la grande distribution n'est généralement pas une bonne idée en période d'inflation. Car les distributeurs ne peuvent pas impacter l'inflation sur leurs marges, bien au contraire. Par contre, les secteurs ayant un facteur qualité très important dans leur offre (comme le luxe ou la haute technologie) et les entreprises qui vendent à d'autres sociétés (B2B) sont plus intéressants pour les investisseurs. En effet, ces entreprises peuvent impacter la hausse de l'inflation sur les consommateurs finaux. Attention, cette répercussion n'est pas totale : elles doivent tout de même réduire leurs marges. ## Quels sont les leviers pour se protéger de l'inflation ? La gestion de carrière. Julien explique que la sécurité de l'emploi, c'est ce qui coûte le plus cher en période d'inflation. Car les salaires ne sont pas indexés sur l'inflation. Le fait de changer d'emploi ou de secteur est un bon moyen de se protéger de l'inflation, en recherchant une rémunération plus élevée ailleurs. Au niveau de l'investissement, les bons moyens de se protéger sont (dans l'ordre) : Les actions. Car les grands groupes internationaux sont capables d'augmenter leurs prix. Julien propose de s'exposer à l'ensemble du marché développé mondial, avec un ETF par exemple. L'immobilier commercial via des REIT (ou SIIC : sociétés foncières cotées), voire le locatif dans des villes où les loyers ne sont pas trop plafonnés. Les matières premières comme le pétrole. Il est possible d'acheter des indices diversifiés (ETF iShares de Blackrock par exemple). Attention, il s'agit d'un actif très volatil et donc risqué. L'or qui historiquement fonctionne bien durant les périodes inflationnistes (valeur refuge). Mais qui ne paie pas de dividendes ni d'intérêts. Les cryptomonnaies pour une petite part de son patrimoine seulement. Attention, nous n'avons pas l'historique suffisant pour connaître le comportement des cryptoactifs dans une période d'inflation.
