As an international touring artist on fiddle and pedal steel, Andrea Whitt will be joiningMoby in Europe this September on his first tour in ten years. She has also toured with country megastar Shania Twain, Italian rocker Zucchero, country artist/rapper Struggle Jennings opening for Jelly Roll, and an exclusive VIP experience performance on the Dead and Company tour. This year Andrea stepped out from her long time role as a side musician and produced her first solo show where Robby Krieger from The Doors joined her on stage as a special guest. She was also recently a guest performer with the well-known jam band, Blues Traveler.   Andrea has performed at many of the world's top amphitheaters, arenas and theaters, and has shared stages with high-profile artists across all genres. Her credits include Journey, Ariana Grande, Moby, Kamasi Washington, KYGO, Deep Purple, Stevie Wonder, Cee-Lo Green, One Republic, Natalie Cole, John Legend, Halsey, Harry Connick Jr., Phil Lesh, Jelly Roll, BB Rexha, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Allison Wonderland. Last fall she joined the house band for the CMT show ‘Smashing Glass' where she performed with Clint Black, Chris Jensen, Lucy Silvas. Andrea has also recorded on many acclaimed albums, including Kendrick Lamar's Grammy Award-winning To Pimp a Butterfly, Kendrick Lamar's Damn, Kamasi Washington's The Epic and Harmony of Difference, Zucchero's Black Cat Live, Stu Hamm's Hold Fast, Blxst, Katie Gavin of Muna, and a PBS special with Shania Twain.   Set for August 2024, Andrea Whitt's next release is “Sleepwalk,” her take on the classic song by Santo & Johnny. Andrea's version dark, dreamy and ethereal, and sounds like what you'd get if Lana Del Rey played pedal steel. The “Sleepwalk” video was shot at the historic Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. Since most of her work is as a hired performer with other artists, when she has a release of her own, Andrea puts time and care into every facet of her artistry including styling her own wardrobe, artistic direction, and merch designs.   Determined and eager to explore new facets of creativity, Andrea wants her life to feel like the non-stop expression of Interlochen Arts Camp she went to growing up. In addition to music, she's a lifelong visual artist, having started drawing and painting when she was a toddler. Andrea is regularly commissioned for paintings in her signature ink and watercolor and oil painting styles. Much of her work can be found on her site, Boho Bunnie, which started as a fashion blog with recognition from press such as Marie Clare, Britt & Co and Free People. Modeling for the camera has “a similar type of energy” to performing on stage. The Boho Bunnie blog is morphing into a lifestyle brand, which produces products that inspire and encapsulate the fun, sexy, and expressive bohemian in all of us. She's now hard at work building the Boho Bunnie brand, which includes art prints, merch she has designed, fashion and a perfume line.   Want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod (Please Subscribe)

At 34 years of age, guitarist/songwriter Nili Brosh has lived the life of 10 guitarists.  Since graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2009, Nili has performed with legends in the truest since of the word.  Shrapnel guitar legend Tony MacAlpine, former Nevermore and current Arch Enemy guitarist Jeff Loomis, drummer Marco Minneman, and bassist Stu Hamm just to name a few. Nili has also been a part of Danny Elfman's band, the guitarist for Cirque Du Soleil's Michael Jackson ONE, and as part of the cartoon based metal gods, Dethklok.  Obviously, Nili is a VERY busy person and I was lucky enough that she took the time out of her busy schedule to talk to a dreg like myself.  Nili is a kind, funny, and super talented person and I loved talking to her about why sometimes being called a "shredder" can be annoying, how being called a "female guitarist" is also not a term of endearment, and other things.  To check out more on Nili, head to hear website www.nilibrosh.com Enjoy, y'all.

Artists are known far and wide as being unintentional narcissists. To be fair, I include myself in this definition, as I'm a creative as well. When I heard I was going to be interviewing Jason Blake from Aziola Cry, I was worried because I loved the music so much that I feared all I would do is make it clear that if their drummer ever died in a bizarre gardening accident, that I'd be the perfect fit to replace him.Fortunately, Jason laughed that stuff off and kept me on point as an interviewer. The beauty of this particular interview is that we got to talk about all sorts of things that make guys like us tick, yet the conversation stayed attainable enough for the musical newbie to enjoy what Jason and his bandmates have to offer.the new album, the Ironic Divide, is available now and worth every red cent you can throw at it. To learn more and watch the video from this live session, please visit truefire.com/live.About Adam: To call Adam Levy a "well-traveled musician" would be a hell of an understatement. During a six-year stint touring as a member of Norah Jones' Handsome Band, Levy went round the world several times and maxed out the pages of his passportand then a second onewith country stamps and visas. He first played with Jones at the very beginning of the singer's career and went on to be the featured electric guitarist on her wildly successful first three albums and DVDs. Levy held the enviable gig through 2007, ultimately leaving to follow his own path as a performing songwriter.Levy released two CDs under his own name while in Jones' band, and has continued to release new recordings annually since thensome featuring his lyrical songs, some wholly instrumental. His best-known is 'The Heart Collector,' praised by No Depression online as "a great album overflowing with warm and soulful songs that enchant the ears and captivate the heart." Other recent CDs include 'Town & Country,' 'Blueberry Blonde,' and 'Live from Sun Studio'the latter tracked, of course, at the legendary Memphis mecca where Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley cut their first acetates.Jones is not the only top-shelf artist whose music Levy has been party to. He can be heard on Tracy Chapman's New Beginning (that's Levy's laid-back blues solo on "Give Me One Reason"), Amos Lee's eponymous Blue Note debut (featured on the single, "Arms of a Woman"), Lisa Loeb's 'Lullaby Girl,' Vulfpeck's 'The Beautiful Game,' Allen Toussaint's 'American Tunes,' and Meshell Ndegeocello's 'Ventriloquism.'Levy is also well-known as a writer and journalist, with articles appearing regularly in the pages of Fretboard Journal and Acoustic Guitar magazines. And he has earned a reputation as an esteemed educator. He is the author of Jazz Guitar Sight-Reading (book) and Play the Right Stuff (book & DVD), and has led many workshops and masterclasses all across the U.-and internationally.About Mimi:Internationally renowned guitarist, composer and recording artist Mimi Fox has been named a winner in 6 consecutive Downbeat Magazine international critic's polls and has been recognized by writers and colleagues alike as one of the most eloquent jazz guitarists on today's scene. In one of many feature stories, Guitar Player Magazine hailed Mimi as "a prodigious talent who has not only mastered the traditional forms but has managed to reinvigorate them."Mimi has performed/recorded with some of jazz's most commanding players, including fellow guitarists Charlie Byrd, Stanley Jordan, Charlie Hunter, and Mundell Lowe, Grammy-nominated saxophonists Branford Marsalis, David Sanchez and Houston Person and the late Don Lanphere, vocalists Abbey Lincoln, Diana Krall, Kevin Mahogany and Janis Siegel (Manhattan Transfer), B3 organ masters Barbara Denerlein and Dr. Lonnie Smith, and powerhouse drummer Terri Lyne Carrington. She has also performed outside of the jazz world with legends Stevie Wonder and John Sebastian and with Patty Larkin's Vanguard Records-produced La Guitara project.About Stu:Stu Hamm attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he met guitarist Steve Vai and, through him, met Joe Satriani. Hamm played bass on Vai's debut solo album, Flex-Able, which was released in 1984. Hamm has performed and recorded with Steve Vai, Frank Gambale, Joe Satriani and many other well-respected guitarists. It was playing live on tour with Satriani that brought Hamm's skills to national attention. Subsequent recordings with Satriani and other rock/fusion artists along with the release of his own solo recordings solidified his reputation as a bassist and performer.

Growing up in Australia with a musical family, Dean's first professional gig was at aged 15, when he began playing Guitar and touring with his late father, Jack O'Leary, who was a successful and well loved Australian singer, comedian and actor. Dean grew up on a healthy musical diet including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie, Prince, The Eagles and Steely Dan, amongst many other musical influences. All these wonderful artists and influences add to the ingredients which make up his own sound of what he calls 'Roots based Rock'. He's lived in Los Angeles for the last ten years and during that time he has performed with Sergio Mendes, Maxine Nightingale, Connie Stevens, Joely Fisher, Hudson Thames, Fisher & Thames, The Twilight Lords, Band of Liars and many other artists locally. Coming up on July 2020 will bring Dean's first release in the USA as a solo artist. This first single was produced and mixed by himself at his home studio, where he sang all vocals, played all Guitars, Bass and percussion. 'Brave Souls' was written during the Quarantine lockdown and during the protests for Racial change in Los Angeles. The Song is a reflection of these experiences, and a song of hope. Musically, Brave Souls is a Guitar driven song, which is very Roots based Rock with a hint of Country, and driven by a memorable uplifting chorus. The outro section really highlights Dean's tasty Guitar work. Dean was excited to have good friend and amazing drummer, Jeff Bowders onboard for Drumming duties. Jeff Bowders is a touring, recording and educating drummer in Los Angeles. Most notably recognized as playing drums for some of the greatest guitarists of our time such as Paul Gilbert, George Lynch, Joe Satriani, Larry Mitchell, Kim SeHwang, Richie Kotzen, Justin Derrico, Mike Keneally and Michelangelo. Jeff has also performed/recorded with Puddle of Mudd, Shakira, Stu Hamm, Nelson and Graham Bonnet. Jeff brings so much fire and feel to the table with his solid and incredible playing. This is the first single, which is one of many more to follow in the coming months, that Dean has planned for release in 2020. Brave Souls will be released through CD Baby and available on all streaming and download platforms. www.deanoleary.com

Today I’m talking to Alex Skolnick. Alex is an amazing guitar player who is probably best known for being part of the legendary Bay Area Thrash metal band Testament—who actually just released a new record a couple weeks back called “Titans of Creation”. He was in testament from the time he was a teenager into his early 20s and then did some session work with people like the incredible bassists like Stu Hamm and Michael Manring. He also did some stuff with the band Savatage and eventually moved to NYC to study at the New School and pursue his desire to play jazz. And from there he started the Alex Skolnick Trio and they play cool jazz-influenced versions of classic rock and metal tunes as well as original music. Eventually, he made his way back to Testament and now he exists in two musical worlds.Alex is a friend of mine and we had a great chat about his origins, where he grew up, what drew him to jazz, the challenges of being a well-known musician expressing their political views on social media, and gives some observations, some insight and his very intelligent and measured take on the state of things.

This is a wonderful episode and I (Beebs breaking the wall here) want to thank Jack for having such an open, honest conversation about this stuff. The previous episode we did on this, 52. was of tremendous help for my own inner workings (Beebee breaking the wall here) and judging from the feedback and response to it, was relatable and helpful for many of you out there. We pick things back up here framed around Jack’s experience, however the conversation is multifaceted and the result is a rich discussion on the ups, down and managing when the wobbles come. Thanks dude. To learn more and watch the video from this live session, please visit truefire.com/live.About Stu Hamm: Stu Hamm attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he met guitarist Steve Vai and, through him, met Joe Satriani.

Stu Hamm is an icon of the electric bass and has done great things to forward the electric bass as a solo instrument. Hamm's first solo album, Radio Free Albemuth, inspired by the Philip K. Dick novel of the same name, was released in 1988. On it, Hamm demonstrated his abilities on a number of original compositions spanning a variety of genres including fusion, country, and classical. On solo pieces like "Country Music (A night in Hell)," he demonstrates his slapping and two-handed tapping proficiency as well as the ability to make the bass imitate the sounds of a wide range of instruments; the piece has since become a popular live piece. On the same album, he performs an arrangement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. Early in his career, Hamm was associated with Philip Kubicki's Factor basses. Later, Fender musical instruments produced two signature model electric basses designed and endorsed by Hamm himself, the first artist model bass ever made by Fender: the "Urge Bass" and the "Urge II Bass". Hamm's slapping, popping and two-handed tapping techniques are demonstrated on his solo recordings as well as in his instructional videos Slap, Pop & Tap For The Bass and Deeper Inside the Bass. A popular part of his live performance often includes a two-handed tapping arrangement of Vince Guaraldi's "Linus and Lucy" (from the animated television special A Charlie Brown Christmas). In July 2011, Hamm accepted the position of Director of Bass Programs at Musician's Institute in Hollywood, CA. For the past two decades, Hamm has also toured as one of the world's premier bass clinicians.

Outlaw Southern Rocker Glitter Rose has been breathing music all her life. California born and Texas raised, this Cali-Texan was exposed to rock n' roll in a small town as a kid inspiring rhythm and vigor in young GR. It became her dream to pursue music as a career at age 12 after writing her first song. Shortly after, she began recording albums, started performing live, became a guitarist and lived the music business through her teens. Spanning from country to pop to rock, GR experimented with many genres, styles and looks. Hollywood High was her rock baby born in 2001, and earned her much recognition through 2004. Life changing events led to GR focusing on her solo career and in 2007, she released her album Southern Comfort. Making waves with slice of life songs and rockin' rhythms, GR began to light up the industry, performing at North Texas festivals, hosting live music showcases, becoming a resident at the Dallas International Guitar Festival, appearing on Good Morning Texas and even designing her own acoustic guitar series, introducing her into the equipment industry and leading to performances around the world. After releasing her album Dead or Alive in 2012 and moving to Los Angeles, she was now endorsed with 12 major equipment companies, including brands like Gibson Acoustic, Orange Amplifiers, Telefunken Elektroakustik and Fishman Music and became an 8-time award winner with her album Dead or Alive, co-produced by Dran Michael and Glitter Rose, and her music video "Buda Negra" directed by Amy Campione. GR is known for her magnetic and charming stage presence.  Loved by all ages, Glitter was chosen to host and star in Southern Rock Brunch at Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood Blvd., which ran for 20 weeks.  GR retains residencies with HRC to date. She is the songwriter for the title track of the feature film American Girl and was an associate producer on the film, as well as made a cameo appearance in it. She also co-wrote a song with bass legend Stu Hamm and Korean guitar legend SeHwang Kim titled "Two Lovers", which is featured in the Korean box office smash The Technicians. GR recently was Music Director and Co-Composer for "How To: The Musical" which was a film for the 48 Hour Film Project in Los Angeles and currently finishing her 3rd album "Outlaw In Love". A Southern Rocker at heart and an Outlaw by design, Glitter Rose will go on to be one of music's most unique, and heartfelt success stories in history. Years of dedication and perseverance through hardship, heartache and challenges, makes all the great moments that much sweeter, and you can feel it in the songs she sings.Glitter Rose Videos
