More recent performances include collaborations with Tuhran Terrell (keyboardist/Anita Baker), Jerome “Stixx” Davis (drummer/LaFace/Arista recording artist Tony Rich); singer Hunter Gerard (soap opera star/General Hospital); and, Louie Louie (WTG recording artist , chart topping hit “Lap of Luxury”). The result was a throttle-filled carpet ride sounding like a fusion between Stevie Wonder and Tony MacAlpine. Patty Howe's End of Life Story – A Story of Life and Living Greg Howe shares the experience of supporting his wife Patty through her end of life choices in rural Alaska, including her choice for VSED, a home vigil, a celebration and home burial. Sharing Patty's intention to live until she died, and the experience of Greg as her partner in life and death; as well as her death doula Teri who traveled from California to walk with them both in the final days of Patty's life. This really is a story about life and living right to the end – a true example that death can be our greatest teacher. Greg Howe – Husband to Patty Howe They lived in a Mongolian yurt in Alaska, since August 2021 when Patty joined her husband Greg on the cancer journey. They would tear life apart together to see they still fit while living in a temple of sorts created with song. They are once again in the wind. They would settle in Willow Alaska, for their final journey together – where Patty would die in the warmth of their home, with her beloved Greg, and her death doula Teri at her side. And where her body would be lovingly given back to the earth surrounded by Spruce trees, a little birch, and Patty's aspen – while on a clear day, she'll be able to look out yonder to the mountain. Patty left this physical earth on December 3, 2023, and left an incredible story of love and living that needs to be told. Ideal Para Llevarte O Regalar Productos Del Podcats De Ivoox.

Big Ideas: A Breakdown Leads to a Breakthrough [3:20] – Many times the most painful moments in our lives lead to the best moments because it gives us an opportunity to find ourselves. The darkest points in our lives turn into the brightest when we grow spiritually through them. We are able to gain so much perspective through the struggles and challenges we face if we look at them through the proper lens. No one knows this better than Patty and Greg Howe. Greg was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2016 and doctors told him he only had a couple of weeks or a few months at most to live. This led to him searching for alternative treatments because his doctors told him they had nothing available that could help him. He found himself feeling really low when confronted with this intense adversity – but after a year of living after his initial diagnosis, he found his true strength and the beauty of life through overcoming his fear. Still alive and well, it is such an inspiration to hear him speak from a place of hope and joy and the positive shift he experienced through such difficult circumstances. When Patty Found Doulagivers [11:37] – Patty found Doulagivers in March 2020, during the height of the covid lockdowns. She had been a hospice volunteer since her father passed away in 2014, and she became curious about the concept of end-of-life doulas. She heard about this concept in another program she had taken and started to do more research on the subject, and she stumbled upon Doulagivers. She decided to call in to learn more about the program and we spoke on the phone, and she made her decision to enroll in our Certified End of Life Doula program after I asked her if she had the calling to do this sacred work. After starting the course and becoming part of our Doulagivers community, Patty discovered that she needed open-heart surgery after exerting herself during a hike and realizing something was wrong. She says the love and support she received from the other doulas in the semester empowered her with the confidence to know she was going to make a recovery from her surgery and be the best doula possible. Then, a little over two months after her surgery, she was given a terminal liver diagnosis. After her initial shock, Patty looked to Greg as her source of strength and inspiration and eventually looked at her diagnosis as a gift because she was finally able to understand what her husband had gone through with his own diagnosis. They processed things together and decided that they would continue to move forward in the face of this new challenge. The awareness of their own end of life gave them the push they needed to "repair” aspects of their lives they didn't even realize they needed to repair. Greg Howe Became a Doulagiver After Witnessing the Rise in Patty [20:05] – Greg watched as Patty grew into a more confident woman aware of her own power, owning what was hers and finding her calling in life. It made him decide to also take the Doulagivers training and become a Certified End of Life Doula. Patty describes herself as being “encapsulated” by her purpose since walking fearlessly down this path in her life. Greg would sit in the background of Patty's classes and on Thanksgiving in 2020, we held a special Zoom call for everyone who was at home and separated from their families that year. Another one of our Doulagivers told a story on that call about how her stepfather had stepped in and cared for her mother at the end of life with no formal training and how an incredibly strong and loving bond grew between them through that experience. The story moved Greg so much that he signed up for the course immediately after hearing it. He wasn't sure how it would go at first because he has never been comfortable with people's emotions, but he says it has been the most incredible journey for him and his personal growth. It has completely changed him in the most beautiful way. Time Magazine Article [30:28] – Last year, Patty and Greg were both featured in a Time Magazine article about End-of-Life Doulas titled, “Death Doulas used to Be Rare. The COVID-19 Pandemic Changed That.” One morning Patty was sitting on her bed and received a phone call about wanting to be interviewed by the author of the article. She says there was magic instantly in the conversation they had and that she and Greg were so grateful for the opportunity to shine light on this movement for such a large platform. Upon completing her other interviews with Doulagivers graduates and speaking to me, the author of this article told me that it was the most exciting article she had ever written. It was such an honor to hear that. Patty and Greg's End of Life Resort [35:58] – Patty and Greg had an idea to use their property in Alaska to create a special place for people at end of life to experience one of the most beautiful places on earth. They collaborated with doctors and social workers to refine the dream for this end-of-life resort. They realized that Alaska is a special place for everyone, and they heard that some people were renting hotel rooms so that they could spend their last time on earth in Alaska and die there. So, they thought, why not create such a better experience for those people that was more personable and curated to them for that purpose? To allow them to spend their final moments surrounded and mesmerized by the stunning scenery and nature of the Alaskan wilderness. They gravitated towards this vision and have committed to making it a reality. The ability for someone at end of life to be able to be in such a wonderful place and have access to two guides who know the feeling of confronting that situation firsthand is such a beautiful thing. Patty and Greg are an inspiration and shining example of what can happen when you find the courage to follow your calling and trust in that journey. Memorable Quotes: “We have been dying for thousands of years. Only in the last 100 years have we completely removed death from the natural fold of life and turned it into something we feel the need to fear. We have to bring back the sacredness of end of life.” – Suzanne B. O'Brien RN “When you align with that higher frequency of purpose and calling – when you step forward to answer that – the universe shows up for you. So, I always say, ‘When you show up for the universe, the universe will show up for you.'” – Suzanne B. Simon Phillips, multifaceted drummer and composer, producer and engineer, is renowned for his historic stints with Jeff Beck, The Who, Toto, Jack Bruce, Mike Oldfield, Joe Satriani, Judas Priest and countless others. His life of top-tier session work has fostered an extraordinary versatility and boundless artistic curiosity, something he's long carried into his work as a leader, mainly under the banner of Protocol. An entirely self-taught composer, Phillips debuted the solo Protocol project eponymously in 1989, then revived it in quartet form on Protocol II (2013), Protocol III (2015) and Protocol IV (2017). Throughout, Phillips has grown his vision for an instrumental music with pop sensibility and lyrical, almost singable melody, all over a complex and elusive harmonic foundation. Of the original members (guitarist Andy Timmons, keyboardist Steve Weingart, bassist Ernest Tibbs), Tibbs remains in the fold; he joined keyboardist Dennis Hamm (Thundercat) and guitar virtuoso Greg Howe for Protocol IV. He is gamely on board again for Protocol V, partnering with the group's newest members: veteran keyboard magician Otmaro Ruiz and two prodigiously gifted young players that Tibbs himself recommended, guitarist Alex Sill and saxophonist Jacob Scesney. In this episode, Simon talks about: His interest composing Working in his dad's band when he was very young The origin of his set up Simon's signature drum sound and tone Early exposure to the studio environment The recording of Protocol 5 The value of understanding multiple styles

Tom Quayle and Martin Miller are spearheading a wave of young guitarists who are out to change the game. Combining a commitment to technique, a passion for jazz harmony and a love for the shred & fusion greats, they've forged an incredible sound that's as precise as it is dynamic. Tom Quayle started playing at the age of 15, initially preferring rock styles before gravitating towards jazz and fusion. He graduated from Leeds College of Music in 2002, and set about leaving his mark on the guitar world. He's since performed with the likes of John Petrucci, Dweezil Zappa, Greg Howe and many more. Martin Miller studied at the renowned Carl-Maria-von-Weber college of music in Dresden, Germany, where he cut his teeth on the local performance circuit. Since then, he's hosted clinics and masterclasses worldwide and contributed to countless guitar tuition sits, becoming an invaluable resource for musicians everywhere. Both now Ibanez artists with their own signature guitars, Tom & Martin stopped by the Andertons studio to give us the lowdown!
Dennis Chambers (born May 9, 1959) is an American drummer who has recorded and performed with John Scofield, George Duke, Brecker Brothers, Santana, Parliament/Funkadelic, John McLaughlin, Niacin, Mike Stern, CAB, Greg Howe, and many others. Bass virtuoso and composer STUART HAMM gained instant renown worldwide in the late '80s, when his boss at the time, Joe Satriani, let him take over the stage for ten minutes each night on tour, during which the innovative bassist would consistently blow people's minds with his thunderous, contrapuntal, and funky solo pieces. Stuart is also a prolific solo artist, and his latest album, Diary of Patrick Xavier finds him playing several hypnotic solo electric bass compositions. Additionally, Stu, as his friends and fans often call him, has played with dozens of other great guitar players. Besides backing Satch on stage and in the studio, Stu has worked with Steve Vai, Allan Holdsworth, Frank Gambale, Lorn Leber, Mark McGee, Eric Johnson, and Greg Howe. A particularly entertaining session Stu did was with Yngwie Malmsteen and the late, great singer Ronnie James Dio. (We'll check that out towards the end of the episode.) Heck, I'VE even had some thrilling adventures touring and tracking with my friend Stu. It was a pleasure to stop by his home studio and catch up with him, plug in our instruments and play, listen to samples from his discography, and be reminded by him to -- as the giant, hilarious, and intentionally misspelled tattoo across his forearm proclaims -- live life with "no regerts." --JUDE GOLD, host, No Guitar Is Safe podcast.
