Citizen Vigilante. They are wise to shut it down, because they aren't willing to take the necessary steps to change to make the movie less relevant…A shop owner in my constituency was ignored by the police when he reported shoplifting. But when he displayed pictures of the thieves, the police showed up - to tell him that those pictures violated GDPR. Madness. A free run for criminals, while normal people get crushed. This beautiful and talented young Irish teacher went for a run one morning and was brutally stabbed to death in the neck by an immigrant on benefits from Slovakia. His family, also on benefits in Ireland, tried to hide his crime. The British and Irish media and governments tried to downplay the crime and instead tried to destroy the life of her grieving boyfriend because he stated that neither the man or his family should have been in Ireland in the first place. Citizen Vigilante is an action thriller described as a modern-day riff on "Death Wish." Germany refused to give it a rating, effectively denying its release. Director of the film Uwe Boll said: "...It was a deliberate censorship decision. I hired a lawyer to complain about it, but we lost in a six-two vote as I was told that the film was inciting violence against migrants."A 12-year-old boy accused of holding a girl down by shoving rocks in her mouth so his buddy could rape her was just let go by a judge.  Time to prosecute this little monster and jail the woke judge? The whole story is even crazier. According to reports, an African migrant began publicly masturbating in front of children in an Italian public swimming pool. He was then confronted by an Italian and started a brawl, which he lost. Suddenly, a white woman threw herself protectively in front of him. A symbol of our society. Suicidal empathy.HOLY SMOKES! They aimed the fireworks directly at CHILDREN!!!! BLANKETS WERE CAIGHT ON FIRE and the crowd, including small children began RUNNING FOR THEIR LIVES!!! One brave man stepped in, grabbed a firework before it exploded, and HURLED it away from children. Not a SINGLE ARREST has been made and police have not released any descriptions of the "teens" who did this…In Brooklyn, NY, Dir. of the Muslim American Society, Mohammad Badaway says, “As a Muslim, my life's mission is to fight the US Government, US Army and ICE until my last breath…. the reason for my existence.” A former Air Force engineer in Virginia has been arrested after he allegedly damaged / destroyed over a dozen Flock cameras. There is so much happening right above our heads that we never even notice. In this conversation with pastor and author Kevin Burrell, we talk about why Jesus told us to consider the birds and what we're missing when we don't. From crows that bring gifts to families that keep bird lists together, this conversation is full of fascinating stories, but it's really about something much bigger: paying attention. It turns out wisdom isn't found by rushing through life. Sometimes it begins with simply looking up. EP300: Appreciating Our Itches & Evolution, One Wise Walk at a Time

    True Stride

I'm so excited to be celebrating episode 300 with you, my listeners and fellow Striders. Today, we are looking back at how True Stride began, how it has grown, and how much can change when we keep showing up with honesty, curiosity, and a willingness to listen to what feels aligned. When this podcast started nearly six years ago, I had just left corporate America, I was writing a book, and I was being told I needed to build a big social media presence. But that never felt like me, so I chose a different path and followed the thing that did feel true. I was showing up, one episode, and reflection at a time. In this episode, we talk about what it has meant to grow in real time. I look back at the early days, when I was trying to pack in every story, every question, and every takeaway because I wanted so badly to be useful and make every connection clear. Over time, the podcast became more spacious and natural, and I learned to trust that you would take what resonated, leave what did not, and apply each reflection in the way that made sense for your own life. I also share how my dreams have shifted along the way, from living near the beach in St. Augustine to following a new vision of life in the mountains with land, gardening, chickens, and a different daily rhythm. This 300th episode is a Wise Walk through the itches we cannot ignore, the dreams that keep evolving, and the small, honest steps that help us move toward a life that feels true and appreciate how far we have come together.  When you first started listening to this podcast, what were you seeking? What was it about these episodes and Wise Walks that helped you get back in touch with yourself? What helped you remember what you truly want and what you truly need? What is it about these episodes that supports you in slowing down, dropping into that big, beautiful heart of yours, and surfacing those gut feelings, intentions, and dreams deep within you? What helps you notice what feels aligned or what does not feel aligned, so you can have an honest conversation with yourself? What brought you to this podcast? What has changed along the way? What has evolved for you? How does this podcast or this community support you right now, in this moment? Over the past 300 episodes, how have you released your fear of external pressures? How have you shown up for yourself, expressed yourself freely, or stayed in alignment with your True Stride when it really mattered? When you strip away the fear of others' opinions about what you are doing or how you are showing up, what is genuinely important to you? Are you living in ways that you want to? Are you investing time in ways that fulfill you? Are you in full gratitude for all that you have accomplished and all that you have become in the six years we have been going on Wise Walks and having self-reflection conversations together? As you take yourself on a Wise Walk and reflect on where you are investing your time, are there things that once lit you up but no longer do? Do you give yourself permission to release them? Maybe it is a literal investment, an item, or a possession that you have. Maybe it is an activity that once lit you up, but now, for whatever reason, just does not feel aligned. Can you let that go so that you make space for this current version of yourself and your future version? Can you write your next chapter in a way that includes and prioritizes the things in your life that you want to invest in and that light you up? For this 300th episode, my heart is absolutely full of gratitude for how far we've come and for how many itches we've scratched together. We have shed fear of external judgment so that we could align with our daily actions, values, and choices. We've shown up for ourselves in ways that really matter. We get to live the way we want to and invest our time in ways that fulfill us. Thank you for listening, for witnessing my own evolution, and for sharing vulnerably in yours. I look forward to unpacking whatever itches we need to scratch in the future as we listen to our big, beautiful hearts that already know our answers. In this episode: [02:57] When I first started this podcast, everyone was saying, you need a social media presence. I tried social media, but it didn't feel aligned.  [04:26] I was exploring other avenues and decided to start a podcast. [06:00] My book was about dropping into your heart, determining what lights you up, and then going after that, while staying in alignment with your true authentic self. [07:05] I've evolved as a podcaster. I used to pack a lot in my Wise Walks, but now I try to encourage discovering what feels in alignment for you.  [08:23] These broad topics and free flowing conversations leave room to interpret and reflect in whatever way feels most relevant and aligned for you. [09:09] Pressure to create jam-packed episodes was a little too suffocating for me. [10:20] We are deeply connected, and this podcast has helped me show up in the best version of myself. [12:22] It's been one of my dreams to live in an area that made me feel like I was on vacation. I did that in St Augustine, Florida. My next dream was living in the mountains and on the land. [13:29] I journaled about a day in the life on my mountain, homestead farm. [14:45] I love how these Wise Walks allow me to continually check in with myself and examine whether I'm living in alignment. [15:32] Living our dream life takes time. The process of checking in with ourselves gives us a huge advantage. [17:12] Take time to recognize your dreams and put in action steps and everything that will move you toward the direction that you want to go. [18:26] This podcast has helped me continually ask questions and release what doesn't fulfill me anymore. [19:25] I love how the self-reflection questions on our Wise Walks give me time to check in with myself and see if what I'm investing in is still lighting me up. Memorable Quotes: "I understood the value of a podcast, and something about it felt aligned. It gave me a way to be vulnerable, share my message, and put myself out there in a way that could attract the right audience." - Mary Tess "Growth happens when we keep showing up, one honest reflection at a time, even when we do not know exactly where the path is leading." - Mary Tess "Over the course of these six years, both you and I have evolved, and you have always surprised me with how heartfelt your intentions are to show up as the best version of yourself." - Mary Tess Links and Resources: Mary Tess Rooney Email Heart Value Facebook | LinkedIn | Twitter | Instagram

This is a guided Dzogchen meditation pointing to recognising the natural state of the enlightened mind, free from conceptual proliferation, and practising to rest in it. The instructions are based on various teachings and pointers from Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) and taken from numerous texts.Dzogchen (often translated as "Great Perfection") is a contemplative tradition primarily associated with the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism, though it is also found in the Bön tradition. In essence, Dzogchen teaches that our fundamental nature is already complete, pure, and awake. The aim is not to create enlightenment through effort, but to directly recognize this ever-present awareness and become familiar with abiding in it.

Send us Fan MailThe claim that the Declaration of Independence was based on the Bible is common among those who believe America was founded as a Christian nation. Recently, Tim and David Barton are promoting the idea that the exact wording of parts of the Declaration was taken from sermons delivered in the early 1700s by Congregationalist preacher John Wise. They add that Cornell University history professor Clinton Rossiter taught that Wise influenced the American struggle for independence. This is supposed to bolster their argument about the Christian basis for the Declaration of Independence. In this segment, I assert that the exact language of the Declaration is not in Wise's essays, nor does Rossiter say Wise was critical to American independence. A review of the primary sources shows that the Bartons' claims are false. This leads to a discussion of why the Bartons assert such easily disproved falsehoods. Produced, written, and hosted by Warren ThrockmortonMusic by Netop, Jonas Fair, and Dustin BlatnikFor more information about the book, The Christian Past That Wasn't, go to www.christianpast.com.

Women were treated as a confounding variable — their cycles, hormones, and life stages filtered out of study designs rather than centered in them. The result is a clinical landscape where practitioners are guessing, women are underserved, and the knowledge that has existed for generations in women's bodies and lineages is treated as anecdote rather than data.Stephanie Karzon Abrams is the co-creator of Galilea and founder of Beyond Consulting, a practice focused on psychedelic-informed female care: what it requires, what the research does and doesn't tell us, and what women's lived experience is already teaching practitioners who are paying attention.

We are called to do no harm, but that does not mean to be gullible or naïve. We are called to be discerning. There are many souls out there who feel hurt and taken advantage of by individuals. However, there are many who have been hurt by unhealthy or dysfunctional systems. It is important that we raise our level of awareness of these systems in order to protect others and the church.

Most people think they need to lose weight before becoming a runner. The truth is, that belief is stopping more runners than their body ever will.If you've ever felt like you don't look like a “typical runner” or believed you needed to lose weight before taking running seriously, this episode will challenge everything you've been told. I break down what bigger runners need to understand about training smarter, why running isn't always the answer people think it is for weight loss, and how consistency, recovery, and sustainable effort will take you much further than pushing yourself into exhaustion. If you want to build fitness in a way that actually lasts, this conversation will completely change how you think about running and long-term progress.Key TakeawaysRunning doesn't require a certain body type: You don't need to lose weight before you start running. The idea that only lean, light people can be "real runners" is false.Running alone won't help you lose body fat: If weight loss is your main goal, running isn't the most effective path. You're better off combining it with resistance training and fixing your nutrition.Run so you can do it again tomorrow: Don't overdo it on day one. Walk when you need to, go by time instead of distance, and focus on consistency over intensity.Timestamps[00:21] What You'll Learn[01:34] Tip #1 – Don't Try to Lose Weight By Running[05:52] Use This to Start Running (Again) Now[06:21] Tip #2 – Everything in Moderation[10:18] Tip #3 – Walking Is Ok[12:40] Why You Shouldn't Kill Yourself Every Run[15:04] Daren's Hot Take, Healthy and Wise[15:29] Why Amateur Runners Can't Carb Load Their Way to a Fast Marathon Alone[18:38] How Daren Is Getting Wiser in Life & Training[19:42] Remy's Hot Take, Healthy & Wise[24:02] Why You Should Have Dessert With Your Dinner[26:57] Use This to Start (Or Get Back to Running)Links & Learnings

SELLING YOUR BUSINESS: TIMING MATTERS MORE THAN YOU THINK WATCH ON YOUTUBE Brian MacMillan  Managing Director of Mergers and Acquisitions Tessa Hall Media and Communications Specialist About This Episode Tessa speaks with BWFA Managing Director of Mergers & Acquisitions Brian McMillan about one of the biggest decisions a business owner will face: when to sell their business. They discuss the difference between emotional and financial decision-making, how planning can impact business value, and why many owners wait too long to begin the process. The conversation explores business valuation, financial readiness, and the interplay between personal and market timing. It also serves as the first installment in BWFA’s Business Owner Series, which examines the factors that influence successful business exits and long-term planning. To learn more about how BWFA can help with your exit strategy, visit our Merger and Acquisitions page. Read Full Description Selling a business is often one of the most significant financial decisions an owner will make. However, determining the right time to sell is not always straightforward. In this episode of Healthy, Wealthy & Wise, Tessa speaks with BWFA Managing Director of Mergers & Acquisitions Brian McMillan about business exit decisions. They discuss the factors that influence timing and why planning ahead can make a meaningful difference. The discussion explores the difference between emotional and financial decision-making. Many owners begin considering a sale because of retirement, stress, or changing priorities. However, those who plan several years in advance often position themselves for stronger outcomes. Brian explains how clean financial records can improve buyer confidence. He also discusses the benefits of professional accounting support and long-term preparation. Together, these factors can help maximize business value. The conversation highlights common issues that can complicate a transaction. Examples include personal expenses running through the business and unrealistic valuation expectations. These issues can reduce buyer confidence and slow the process. The episode also covers personal timing versus market timing. In addition, Brian discusses signs that an owner may have waited too long to start planning. He explains why understanding your financial position is important before making a decision. Ultimately, selling a business involves more than finding a buyer. A thoughtful exit strategy can help business owners align their personal goals, financial needs, and long-term plans as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives. This episode is part one of BWFA’s Business Owner Series. Future conversations will explore business valuation, retirement strategies, and other planning considerations that can affect a successful transition.

This is a reading for meditation of selected teachings/sayings of the Desert Mothers, taken from 'Apophthegmata Patrum' (Sayings of the Desert Fathers & Mothers) translated by Benedicta Ward; and Philokia: compiled in the eighteenth century by Macarius of Corinth (1731-1805). The teachings spoken here are from the Mothers - Amma Theodora, Amma Syncletica and Amma Sarah. The Desert Mothers lived primarily in the fourth and fifth centuries, withdrawing to the arid regions of the eastern Mediterranean at a time when Christianity had become legally protected and increasingly institutionalized. Like their male counterparts, they sought the desert as a place of stripping away — a landscape where distractions fell silent and the soul was exposed before God.Some lived in loose monastic communities; others inhabited abandoned tombs, caves, or simple mud-brick cells. Their days were shaped by prayer, fasting, manual labor, and long periods of silence. Water was scarce, food minimal, and illness common. The desert was not romantic — it was a place of bodily weakness and spiritual testing. They were called ammas, meaning “mothers,” a title that conveyed both intimacy and authority. This was not sentimental language. To be an amma was to be recognized as someone whose life had been tested and whose counsel could be trusted.

In this thought-provoking episode of the Stuck In My Mind Podcast, host Wize El Jefe is joined by leadership strategist and Heartnomics founder Hannah Bauer for a powerful conversation on resilience, leadership, and system transformation. Drawing from her remarkable journey of surviving severe heart disease as a child and later pioneering a groundbreaking heart procedure, Hannah Bau shares how early lessons about rhythm and recovery in the human body shaped her enduring philosophy about organizational health, leadership, and purpose. Listeners are taken through Hannah Bauer's deeply personal story: from formative years spent battling tachycardia and living within the painful uncertainty of chronic illness, to emerging as an industry leader and innovator. She reflects on the parallels between physiological disruption and dysfunctional organizational systems. Just as the heart must maintain steady rhythms for the body to thrive, organizations require well-aligned processes and clear communication to avoid chaos, burnout, and constant rework. Hannah Bauer details her unconventional path to leadership, which began not in a boardroom, but from a hospital bed, where service and observation became her best teachers. Inspired by the volunteers that impacted her life, she gravitated toward service, eventually understanding—through firsthand experience and mentorship—that leadership is service. Her community work in Georgia, involvement in university organizations, and eventual rise to positions such as CEO, board chair, and executive director are woven together by a commitment to purposeful service and systemic clarity. A significant portion of the episode focuses on organizational dynamics: Why do well-intentioned teams still get stuck? Hannah Bauer unpacks the difference between people-related issues and system misalignments, warning of the dangers of over-reliance on charismatic leaders and the stagnation that results when authority is not fully delegated through clear, actionable processes. She stresses the importance of access, communication, and shared understanding, and warns about the silent dangers of silos, where departments become disconnected and critical information fails to flow. Listeners gain insight into Lean Six Sigma, as Hannah Bauer, a certified Black Belt, explains how the methodology can identify hidden wastes in organizations, particularly the often-overlooked "loss of human potential." She shares real-world examples of how businesses—especially during disruptions or market shifts—must scrutinize their processes, question their assumptions, and focus not just on the adoption of new systems but on their purposeful integration. Throughout the episode, practical strategies are offered for leaders wanting to move from a reactive, survival mentality to achieving sustainable success. Hannah Bauer advises on how to uncover the root causes behind persistent symptoms (like high turnover, low productivity, or missed opportunities), emphasizing continual inquiry: How do you know that your team knows what you expect of them? She encourages leaders to see pressure and disruption as opportunities to reveal underlying issues and recommends periodic reflection—comparing the stress tests of medical diagnostics to stress-testing one's organizational culture. Wize and Hannah Bauer also delve into the evolution of industries in the face of technological change, like the shift from print to digital publishing or the rise of AI, drawing lessons on adaptability and the dangers of losing organizational identity amid rapid change. Hannah Bau explains how clarity of purpose and a strong sense of mission help teams remain resilient when the external environment is volatile. The episode closes with inspiring, actionable advice for anyone feeling overwhelmed or burned out, whether at work or in life. Hannah Bauer urges listeners to breathe, reflect on what is actually within their control, and seek community—reminding us that excellence, not perfection, is the goal. She highlights the transformative power of coaching and supportive relationships, drawing from both her personal and professional experiences to remind leaders that pressure is not the enemy, but a catalyst for growth and innovation. Key Topics Discussed: How childhood illness shaped a holistic view of leadership and systems The journey from service to strategic leadership roles Differentiating between people problems and process problems The dangers of decision bottlenecks and organizational silos Importance of common language/culture in execution and delivery Lean Six Sigma and identifying the waste of human potential Navigating industry disruption and preserving organizational identity What to do when implementation of new systems falls flat The role of love, trust, and community in corporate culture Moving from survival mode to sustainable, purposeful growth Why excellence—not perfection—should be the target for innovative leadership Who Should Listen: This episode is a must-listen for business leaders, managers, entrepreneurs, non-profit directors, and anyone interested in leadership, organizational development, or personal resilience. Whether you're leading through disruption, trying to realign your systems, or simply seeking encouragement to move forward after setbacks, Hannah Bau's wisdom and Wise's insightful questions offer both robust frameworks and authentic inspiration.
