We are hearing a lot about deconstruction within the church right now. What is it? What does it mean? And how can we overcome this in ourselves and/or in those we love!Want to talk to one of our Biblical counselors? Click HereContent Worksheet for This LessonKey Scripture For This Lesson:Jude 1:22–23 – “Be merciful to those who doubt.”John 20:24–29 – Thomas' doubts and Jesus' gentle response.2 Timothy 4:3–4 – People turning from truth to what their “itching ears” want to hear.Psalm 73 – A believer wrestling with doubt and envy, but Icebreaker Because This is a Hard Topic“When was a time you realized your faith didn't look like it used to? What changed?”Or:“What word comes to mind when you hear ‘deconstruction'?”* Encourage openness. This sets the tone that doubt and curiosity are welcome here.If using your Anchored Truth episode, recap key points such as:Deconstruction often starts with disappointment, church hurt, or unanswered questions. It can be dangerous when truth is replaced with personal preference.Healthy wrestling with faith (like the Psalms, Job, Thomas) is different from rejecting truth.God invites honest questions but calls us to rebuild on His Word, not our feelings.Scripture focus: Matthew 7:24–27 — “The Wise and Foolish Builders”finding perspective in God's presence.Group Reflection:1. What do these passages show about how God responds to doubt?2. How can we distinguish healthy questioning from walking away from truth?3. What helps us stay anchored when everything feels uncertain?4. What experiences have shaken your faith or made you question what you believe?5. What are some common reasons people deconstruct their faith today?6. How can the church respond with both truth and compassion?7. What are the dangers of rebuilding faith on emotion, culture, or opinion instead of Scripture?8. How can we help someone who's deconstructing without being judgmental or dismissive?9. What does it look like to rebuild a mature, resilient faith in this season of life?10. What is your walkaway from this lesson?
A reading of the Khemaka Sutta from the Saṁyutta Nikāya - Connected Discourses on the Aggregates SN22.89. Translated by Bhikkhu BodhiKhemaka's teaching clarifies that a noble one (in his case a non-returner or anāgāmi) can still have a sense of "I am" without identifying with the aggregates. He explains that he has let go of the lower fetters, but the notion of self still exists. However, he no longer regards any of the aggregates as "this I am".

Ready to order coffee without pointing, find the station without panic, and ask for help without freezing? We sat down with language coach David Durham to build a traveler's toolkit of Spanish you'll actually use in real life—from warm greetings to confident check requests, from essential directions to emergency phrases that keep you safe.We start with the why: Spanish connects you across Mexico, Central and South America, Spain, and large parts of the United States. David explains the smartest starting point for most listeners—Latin American Spanish—then unpacks the charming differences you'll hear in Spain, like gracias vs grathias, so you understand what's going on without getting lost in rules. You'll learn how gender shapes adjectives and articles, when to use tú vs usted, and how a single switch from yo quiero to quisiera transforms an order into a kind request that earns better service and more smiles. From there, we move fast through practical scripts. Introduce yourself with me llamo, keep conversations smooth with lo siento and no entiendo, and navigate confidently with ¿Dónde está…? for the station, market, bank, pharmacy, airport, and, yes, the all-important baño. We cover everyday ordering—un café con leche, agua con gas, helado, pan—plus numbers and time so you can read prices, bargain fairly, and show up on time. Safety gets space too: ayuda and llame a la policía give you clear words when you need them most. Along the way, David shares cultural tips that turn phrases into bridges, reminding us that respect and a simple por favor go a long way.If you want to go deeper, David's World to the Wise platform offers video-based French and Spanish courses and curated cultural tours. Come learn the Spanish that opens doors, wins goodwill, and makes travel feel less like guessing and more like belonging. What does it really mean to be wise? We start with this definition: true wisdom is right understanding applied to your life. And "right understanding" starts with trusting God completely instead of just relying on our own thinking. Listen now and learn how knowing God leads to wise decisions and thriving.

In this first message of the Be Wise series, Pastor Jim explores why wisdom is not only helpful but commanded by God. Drawing from Proverbs 3 and 9, Jim teaches that wisdom begins with fearing the Lord and trusting in Him rather than leaning on our own understanding. He illustrates how wisdom is more than just intelligence or kindness—it is truth applied to the complexities of real life. Jim challenges listeners to consider what shapes their identity and how that identity leads to either foolishness or a life marked by peace, humility, and eternal perspective. As he unpacks the fruit of wisdom, he points to Jesus as the ultimate source and model, the one we must cling to if we want to walk wisely in this world. The invitation is clear: root your life in the gospel and drink deeply from the spring of Christ, the one thing that makes the rest of life possible.
In Mark 11:27–33 we learn that true wisdom sometimes means asking a thoughtful follow-up question or staying silent. Like Jesus, discern when words help and when silence speaks louder.

This episode of Wise_N_Nerdy with Charles and Joe kicks off with a heartfelt Question of the Week: “What is your favorite Robin Williams movie?” From the magic of Aladdin and the swashbuckling adventure of Hook to the emotional depth of Awakenings and What Dreams May Come, the hosts and listeners celebrate the incredible range and impact of one of the world's most beloved actors. After rolling the dice, fate leads the duo into the “How Do I…?” segment, where Charles and Joe explore how to decide which causes are truly worth supporting. They discuss meaningful giving, how to avoid pitfalls like high-overhead charities, and how to make sure your generosity makes a real difference.Next, it's time for the “Parliament of Papas” — and this week's Reddit story sparks big discussion. When a hungry 15-year-old reacts to her mom snagging fries without asking, a simple moment turns into a full-blown family standoff. Was it selfishness, manipulation, or just a misunderstanding about boundaries and respect? The hosts weigh in with empathy, humor, and dad-level insight. The dice then bless the show with a “Daddy, Tell Me A Story” segment, where Charles and Joe share personal moments that make them feel awesome — those little victories and proud dad vibes that remind us to celebrate life's small wins. But no Wise_N_Nerdy episode would be complete without bad dad jokes, and this week's come courtesy of the always hilarious Devocite, complete with his daughter's eye-roll-worthy reactions. Finally, the fates guide the hosts to “What Are You Nerding Out About?” — where Charles shares his passion for connecting with people and helping them thrive, while Joe dives into his new favorite cozy fantasy anime, Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill, a deliciously heartwarming show about magic, food, and friendship. It's a journey full of laughter, reflection, and community — everything that makes Wise_N_Nerdy special. This lecture discusses key ideas from the ancient Stoic philosopher Seneca's Letters, this one looking at Letter 109 It focuses specifically on whether or not a wise person, according to the Stoics, would want or need to be involved with other people, particularly other wise people, to which his answer (perhaps surprisingly to some) is yes. He provides some reasonings for the position he articulates on this, including how the wise person, despite in a strict sense not needing anything or anyone else, will nevertheless desire to share their life with others, and will also benefit from the advice and fellowship of other wise people. Now that everyone and everything is mindful (except the federal government), is mindfulness diluted? I was starting to wonder so I'm digging into the question, starting with, “What is mindfulness, or ‘wise mindfulness'?” which is the next step on the path. From 10,000 feet, to me mindfulness is looking in and looking up. Looking in, by practicing stillness, examining our fabulous minds and hearts, and then training them to focus and be loving and connect. And it's also looking in and up, by (1) stopping throughout the day, (2) taking a breath, (3) noticing our thoughts & feelings plus what we, and everyone else, seems to need, (4) considering how to get those needs met without causing harm, and then (5) changing our minds, if necessary, to do that. Does that make sense? Of course mindfulness is much more, too. Join me on the Wake Up Call….

From the small town of Martins Mill, Texas, to the biggest stages of high school basketball, McKenna Wise is proving that greatness doesn't wait for permission. Standing tall at 6'2”, this rising junior has already carved out her legacy — two state championships, a 2A MVP title, and a growing reputation as one of the most complete players in the country. In this episode of SportsLifeTalk's You Got Next, Head Coach KT and B Jones sit down with McKenna to talk about her meteoric rise, her love for competition, and how she's inspiring the next generation of girls' basketball stars to dream big.McKenna's basketball journey began in kindergarten, when she first picked up a ball in a coed league. By second grade, her natural drive was already shining through — the kind of player who didn't just want to play but wanted to win. After moving to Canton, Texas, she joined an all-star team and started playing AAU ball by fifth grade. From that moment on, she was hooked. “It's always been about competing, pushing myself, and having fun,” McKenna says.At Martins Mill High School, basketball isn't just a sport — it's part of the town's heartbeat. McKenna and her teammates have brought home back-to-back state championships, turning their small community into a powerhouse of pride and tradition.“The community is always for you,” she says. “They show up, they cheer, and they make you feel like family. That's what makes it special.”McKenna's combination of height, agility, and basketball IQ makes her the perfect leader for the team's unselfish, high-energy style of play. Whether she's defending the rim, hitting the midrange jumper, or pushing the tempo, she's the heartbeat of a program built on toughness and unity. If there's one thing that defines McKenna Wise, it's her poise under pressure. Her first state championship came down to a last-second layup — the kind of moment that cements a player's name in school history. The following year? An overtime thriller that tested every ounce of her willpower.“When we won that second one, it was pure relief,” she recalls. “It was tough, but we earned every bit of it.”Her performance earned her 2A State Championship MVP honors, a milestone that only deepened her love for the game. “I didn't even hear my name at first — everyone started screaming, and that's when it hit me,” she laughs. This past summer, McKenna joined Pro Skills 16U, one of the top programs on the Nike circuit. Competing against national-level talent, she proved she could hold her own — and then some.“It was fun getting to play with so many great players,” she says. “We came together quickly, and that chemistry made us dangerous.”Her ability to dominate inside while stretching the floor offensively has college scouts taking notice. With her work ethic and leadership, the future is bright for this rising star.As McKenna enters her junior season, she's focused on refining her game — tightening her handle, expanding her range, and chasing that third straight ring. College programs are already circling, but she's keeping her goals grounded.“I want to find a program that feels like family — somewhere everyone's locked in on winning and pushing each other,” she says. When asked what advice she'd give to younger players chasing their dreams, McKenna doesn't hesitate:“Stay patient. Stay level-headed. You're going to face adversity — but that's what makes you stronger. Keep working, and your moment will come.”McKenna Wise isn't just a two-time champion — she's a symbol of what happens when talent meets tenacity. Whether you're a coach, a player, or a fan of women's hoops, her story is one you'll never forget.Follow McKenna on Instagram at @kenna_w33, and don't miss her next chapter as she continues to dominate both on and off the court.

Are you constantly pouring your energy into everything and everyone, yet ending the day feeling completely wiped out? In this episode, Whitney sits down with Dr. Diana Hill, author of Wise Effort: How to Focus Your Genius Energy on What Matters Most, to explore what it really means to spend your energy in ways that align with who you are. Dr. Hill introduces the idea of “wise effort,” a mindful approach to work, motherhood, and personal growth that helps you focus on what truly matters rather than simply doing more. She explains how to identify and direct your “genius energy”—the natural strengths that help you thrive when used wisely but can lead to exhaustion when misused. Whitney and Dr. Hill also discuss The Nightmare Review, a self-reflective practice that reveals what you value most by imagining the story you don't want to live. Through this conversation, you'll learn how to move from overdoing to intentional action, reconnect with your body's signals, and bring vitality and joy back to your days. If you've been feeling overextended, uninspired, or out of alignment, this episode will help you reclaim your energy and live with more clarity, curiosity, and ease. Here's what you can look forward to in this episode: Wise effort vs. unwise effort Understanding genius energy When your genius can become a problem The positives and negatives of being a planner What it looks like to treat ourselves with wise action The “Nightmare Review” practice How environment can impact wise effort “One Eye In, One Eye Out” practice Reflection question to ponder: If there's no problem to be solved, what's left?
