PARENTING COORDINATOR'S ROLE IN RESOLVING CUSTODY CONFLICTSHOST: Beverly Price, Divorce & Empowerment CoachGUEST: Jaime Davis, Co-Managing Partner at Gailor Hunt and Host of A Year and a Day: Divorce without Destruction SUMMARY:A parenting coordinator plays a crucial role in helping divorcing parents navigate the often tumultuous terrain of co-parenting after a divorce. Their primary objective is to assist in making decisions related to child custody, visitation, and other parenting matters in an amicable and child-focused manner. They act as neutral third-party facilitators, using their expertise in family law and child development to help parents reach mutually beneficial agreements. In this episode of Her Empowered Divorce, your Host, Beverly Price, talks to Jaime Davis, a Co-Managing Partner at Gailor Hunt and Host of A Year and a Day: Divorce without Destruction. Together, they discuss parenting coordinators, who they are, and their role in fostering a more collaborative and harmonious co-parenting relationship to create a stable and supportive environment for children's growth and well-being.KEY TAKEAWAYS:● Who is a parenting coordinator, and what role do they play in family law cases? A parenting coordinator is a neutral third party who has received training to become a parenting coordinator. In high cases involving the custody of children, the court can appoint a parenting coordinator to assist the parents in making decisions for their kids. ● The different areas of authority that a parenting coordinator can help with can range from pick-up time for the child, health care management, and communication between parents and children. However, their scope of authority can vary from case to case.● What is the difference between a parenting coordinator and a parenting coach? A parent coordinator's decision is usually like a binding court order. So if a parenting coordinator issues a directive and one of the parents does not follow it, the other parent can ask for a baby holding contempt for violating the directive. A parenting coach is more focused on getting the parents to work together and facilitating communication.● Do parenting coordinators take over all the decisions when the conflict is great and the parents are far apart? Each parent coordinator does it differently, but regardless of the level of acrimony, it is very important that the parents try to agree on the issues first, and when they can't the parent coordinator can step in and be the tiebreaker. NOTABLE QUOTES: ● When a couple is getting a divorce, decisions for the kids can be some of the things being disagreed about. In these types of cases, a parenting coordinator can be very helpful by being the tiebreaker when mum and dad disagree on a decision for the child. (Jaime)● One of the benefits of having a parent coordinator is that the children can have what they need in a more timely manner. (Jaime)● Your parenting coordinator is going to be making the decision when you and your partner disagree on things. It is almost like having a third parent in the relationship. (Jaime)● Part of the parent coordinator's job is to work themselves out of a job, getting parents to a place where they can make decisions without them and their children because they know what is best for their family. (Jaime)● At any time during a custody dispute, either parent can ask the court to appoint a parent coordinator, and the court

You've probably heard a thousand times that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a valuable and essential digital marketing tool. But do you know how it works and how your organization can reap its benefits? In this episode of Messaging on a Mission, we dive into the importance of SEO and how to implement best practices to make your brand more discoverable than ever online. Key Takeaways Who your audiences are, where you can find them, and how to get your brand in front of them are the aspects of digital marketing that everyone in charge of an organization should know about. Do your research to understand who your audiences are and the best way to reach them. Keyword, search phrase, or query is whatever you're searching on Google. It can be as many words or as few words as you like. The longer the keyword is, the better it is, but the fewer people search for it. Knowing the right things to do, how to get started, where to go, and staying up to date with SEO best practices are the challenges small organizations have when they think about SEO. There are several digital marketing strategies to get traffic to a website. Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is advertising running paid ads, while SEO (organic, free listings) is a way to get free traffic. Not-for-profit organizations should spend some time thinking about SEO optimization to avoid missing out on potential eyeballs that could be seeing their organizations and learning more about them. When thinking about SEM, determine how much you're willing to spend to make a profit. Then play around and test it all out to see what works. Push more money into that and pull money away from what's not working. Some of the best practices to implement when optimizing your website for SEO include: (1) adding more text to every page on your website, (2) writing for the readers and not for Google, (3) keeping the content original, (4) including keywords naturally, (5) getting quality backlinks, and (6) improving visibility by placing your content at the top of the page Be patient, and don't try to be deceptive. Digital marketing takes time, so don't expect immediate results. Also, be very careful with backlinks. Build backlinks from sites related to you and avoid building the wrong type of backlinks, as they can harm your SEO. To get backlinks, invest in an SEO tool, research your competitors, find the ones that are authoritative and relevant to your brand and figure out what they do to get the backlinks. If you've got a list of places where you'd love them to link to your site, reach out to them. You need Google Analytics to know how traffic behaves on your website and what happens after it leaves and gets to your website. However, since google algorithm updates change constantly, you may need to click and look everywhere on Google Analytics to learn about all the information you need. About Our Guest Brandon Leibowitz is the founder of SEO Optimizer - a digital marketing company that focuses on helping small and mid-sized businesses get more online traffic, which converts into clients, sales, leads, etc. He got his start in digital marketing in 2007 after graduating from college with a degree in Business Marketing. since the past 14 years, he has been helping websites rank higher on Google using SEO strategies. I am certain that he has plenty of expertise in the business world that we can apply to any organization, whether they are for profit or not for profit. On today's show, we discuss financial modeling for your organization.Ian Schnoor, CRM, CFA is one of the founders of the Financial Modeling Institute in 2017. He oversees the organization including its strategic direction. Ian is also founder of The Marquee Group, a leading provider of financial modeling training, consulting and accreditation. Over the last 20 years, Ian has taught thousands of business professionals and university students around the world. Ian is passionate about teaching and brings a hands-on, interactive approach to every course. Ian teaches at Queen's University in Canada and is a recipient of the “Instructor of the Year” award in the Master of Finance program at the Smith School of Business. Previously, Ian spent a number of years in the Investment Banking departments at Citigroup and BMO Capital Markets. Ian completed his Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree with academic distinction from the University of Manitoba and has also attained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Key Takeaways:Who is impacted by the discipline of financial modeling?Any role in the organization that will be thinking about forecasting financially for budgeting purposes is concerned about financial modeling. A model cannot perfectly predict the future, but we want to create competence, improving and enhancing decision-making. How do you know if you have a good model? It works well electronically. Every formula has to make sense. It tells a story. It flows and is logical. It works well on paper or as a PDF. It shouldn't need additional explanation. Starts with the answer and then with the assumptions that were made. How can an executive be assured that a business case coming across their desk has meaningful numbers, rather than rough guesses?Find out what research went into finalizing the numbers. Experience is key. This isn't a job for the new hire. You want the data to be derived from historical data from your own company, past experiences in other companies, or research of other companies. How do we know what questions to ask when building a model?Don't be afraid to ask seemingly obvious questions. Often departments have different ideas about things without realizing. Make sure everyone is aligned. The most important thing is planning and getting the right answers from the appropriate people. Your questions will build from these basic questions:What will the initial capital cost be? What will the revenues be?What will the expenses be? "It's too late for me. I'm too old to start." Have you ever used these excuses are barriers? Meet Ian Morgan, an ultrarunner who is crushing it in his 50s. And guess what? He didn't even start on this journey until he was in his mid-40s. Ian was primarily focused on his engineering career and property investment company in his 20s and 30s. Realizing that a primary focus on money, materialistic possessions, and career achievements wasn't making him happy, he took a 180 turn in his life. Ian said, " I was overweight, stressed, and unhappy with myself, so I started to run. This is where I discovered a passion for ultra running. Eventually, I sold everything I owned (Houses, cars, bikes, and all my furniture) and started living a more nomadic minimalist lifestyle, traveling the world and running 50 to 250 km plus ultra races in some of the world's wildest places." How did this happen? Starting as a proverbial couch potato to present day super-fit ultra runner (seriously, he ran a 2:50 marathon and as you just heard, he gets in some serious distance), Ian knows what it takes to claim responsibility for your life and make lasting changes. And to top it all off, he says you're never too old to get started. How many of us would think we could start our running career in our late 40s and early 50s? His current job is to run and he works with sponsors as a competitive lifestyle athlete and inspires thousands with his Instagram account. "Mental laziness is something that you can use as an excuse, but at the end of the day, I had to face myself and say "is that the person I really want to be?" I remember when I was a kid, I wasn't that way. I used to challenge myself, I used to push myself so I guess I went back to those childhood experiences, examined it and thought “what can I do now as an adult to bring that to the forefront, to push myself again?" Once I realized I had this propensity for mental laziness, I then know when it comes up, I know when I start telling myself those excuses, I can check myself and use that discipline, use consistency and start putting in the work." -Ian Morgan Listen Now Key Takeaways Who is Ian Morgan? This season, we continue to celebrate these untold stories of everyday people who are fearlessly living their true north and inspiring each of us to do the same. Today, we have Karla Beltchenko and Cindy Luffred. Karla is one of Rachel’s long-time dance friends from childhood in Chicago, IL. Karla is the founder + director of The Narrative Body, a coaching + consulting program that teaches professionals, groups, and businesses about the power of body awareness + non-verbal behavior. As a young professional, she started out as a professional dancer and then transitioned into the arena of movement research, yoga, and other wellness modalities. Karla holds an MFA in Creative Practice from Trinity Laban Conservatory of Music + Dance in London, utilizes the Laban Movement Analysis, and has dedicated her life to studying the nuanced intricacies of humxn movement, with a goal of helping individuals uncover the power they hold in their bodies, and giving them the tools to connect + communicate on a deeper level. Cindy Luffred, a self-proclaimed truth doulah, a spiritual medium, intuitive healer, and Founder of Revealing Soul. She’s the co-host of Slightly Spiritual Podcast, co-founder of the Soul Talks Meditation practice, and has a passion of bringing the energy of soul into view in a grounded + relatable way. Cindy uses her mediumship + intuition to reveal the parts of yourself that are hidden to reveal the truth within so you can manifest abundance without. We talk about allowing all parts of ourselves to exist and not forcing ourselves into any one box, resonating with the frequency of joy, somatic-based practices that allow the body to heal, listening to the subtle signals of the body vs just the bigger signals, energetic body awareness, pets as a way to build awareness in your body, plus Jenell + Rachel have channeled readings with Cindy! NOTE: we shorten them for the sake of the show. :) *note: this episode includes explicit language appropriate for those ages 16+ RESOURCES MENTIONED: #amplifymelanatedvoices @thehoodhealer #amplifymelanatedvoices @soulcarecollective #amplifymelanatedvoices @thehoodwitch Babette Rothschild Music from: https://www.jukedeck.com/ 3 KEY TAKEAWAYS: Who you are is not what you do. And who you are is a homogenous mashup of things. You are allowed to be many things. You are allowed to be indifferent boxes. You are allowed to straddle many different lanes. You’re allowed to color outside the lines. You are allowed to hold all the parts of yourself without forcing it to fit perfectly into an understandable narrative. If this doesn’t feel true to you, what would be possible if you allowed yourself to imagine that it could be? What might open up for you? What would you do if all of you could exist? We have been taught to only pay attention to the bigger, faster, stronger things. But really, the most powerful stuff is the small nuances + subtleties. Especially when it comes to our bodies, if we wait to only listen when it’s screaming at us, we are oftentimes too late to the game to make the changes we need to change course. If we slow down and listen to the smaller, more nuanced, subtler voices of the body, we can catch things and work with it along the way versus fighting it tooth and nail until it crashes and burns. What can you start to notice within your body each day to start to hear the small differences over time? Can you release your need to control EVERYTHING? What if the universe/divine/God/whatever you call it is trying to support you but it cannot get through because you are holding too tightly to the reigns? What if you released some of that control? What if what is in store for you is WAY BEYOND anything you could ever imagine, but your refusal to loosen your grip is keeping you handcuffed to the limits of your own imagination? If you knew that something so much better was available to you would you be willing to let go a little bit more?
