ON AIR je talk show hudebního publicisty Pavla Kučery s hudebníky a lidmi z hudební branže. I've been blessed to have traveled to so many tropical destinations; Aruba, Hawaii, US Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Mexico, etc.,” said Perez. “Every time I'm out there with friends or meeting new people, they always say (after a few drinks), why can't we just live here for ever? So, while sitting in a tropical bay with a beautiful woman, I wrote this vacation song. As we gear up for BevNET Live and NOSH Live, Taste Radio hosts Ray Latif, John Craven, Jacqui Brugliera and Mike Schneider discussed one of the biggest deals in beverage history and what it might mean for future entrepreneurial drink brands, how a David rose up against a Goliath and notable products to cross our desks over the past week, including those of a particular fast “flying”brand. This episode also features an interview with Kyle Peters, who recently made the gut-wrenching decision to shut down his high protein ice cream brand, Carter and Oak. Peters explained how he came to a crossroads, one in which he saw no option other than to shut down the business, and offered advice on how entrepreneurs can gird themselves for the ever-present challenges of operating a food or beverage company. Show notes: 0:55: Billions Do A ‘Body' Good. Dew The Wrong Thing. Dumplings And Waffles Make Us Happy. -- The hosts chatted about the industry's excitement for BevNET Live, NOSH Live and Brewbound Live, as well as the news of Coke's $5.6 billion acquisition of sport drink brand BodyArmor and Rise Brewing Co.'s big win in its trademark battle with PepsiCo. They also spoke about a top retail executive joining the agenda for NOSH Live and sampling opportunities for brands attending the event, Fly By Jing's move into the frozen aisle and new canned coffee, RTD cocktails and indulgent desserts. 31:01: Kyle Peters, Founder, Carter & Oak -- Peters joined Taste Radio editor Ray Latif for a conversation about why he closed the doors on Carter & Oak, which had been positioned as a better-for-you, high-protein ice cream brand made with no added sugar. Peters spoke about the company's pandemic-induced pivot, and why, despite strides in the retail and distribution of its products over the past year, he determined Carter & Oak could not survive. He also urged entrepreneurs to focus on improving their margins, why aggressive patience is a virtue and why he's comfortable with saying “failure.” Brands in this episode: BodyArmor, Rise Brewing Co., Mtn Dew, Harmless Harvest, Honey Mama's, YumEarth, Nature's Bakery, TRUFF, Fly By Jing, Omsom, Ramona, Yes You Can, Russian Standard, Vital Sign, Novo Brazil, La Di Da, Biotic, Eastern Standard Provisions, Juneshine, Carter & Oak

Oldrich Sic Jr. // Dont Be Afraid // MYR // March´21 “As a DJ you have to swing, because life swings“ This has been the lifelong mantra of the talented Czech artist Oldrich Sic Jr. A true citizen of the world his love for music and the ever-growing need for more knowledge has led him to many countries inspiring him on deeper levels as he soaked up the culture, rhythms and musical insight from places such as Germany, Ireland, Thailand, Liechenstein, Slovakia and his home the Czech Republic. His love for house and techno emerged at the tender age of 15 when listening to world class DJ mixes and guests on his favourite radio station FM4. It wasn’t long after that Oldrich found himself behind the decks of his very first gig playing at iconic venues such as Zona Club and Gogo Club based in Znojmo. This would only create a stronger sense of discovery for the Czech artist as his passion for more knowledge to make timeless, influential music continued to push him forward. His experience and confidence began soar and he wanted more, play more venues, see more of the world to showcase his relentless passion for amazing music and this approach helped in turn securing quality gigs and playing highly profiled German venues such as Kerosin, Capitol, Parklounge and the infamous Liquid. Residencies at the time included Mahagoni and Pantheon. The appreciation for timeless music and quality artists has led Oldrich down a road of immense success. The ability to recognise world class talent allows him to collaborate with other artists who are also passionately pursuing their musical dream. This led him to developing the platform called The Prague Electric where Czech artists are giving the opportunity to showcase their skills within Germany which is considered the electronic capital of the World. This series of events has already seen some of the Czech Republic’s most highly profiled talent including Josef Sedlon, Ladida, DJ Loutka and DJ Trava grace the decks. The summer of 2007 would see Oldrich holding residency at one of Russia`s most notorious clubs based in the city of Chabarowsk, Hospital. Using this as a base of operations he moved around Austria often playing in venues famous for their electronic sound such as Flex Club in Vienna. Oldrich`s key music styles include minimal house, tech house and electro, creating a fusion of musical ideas commonly referred to by the artist as “dub house techno”. Influences from his early days see him draw inspiration from industry heavyweights like Gui Borrato, Ame or his close friend and mentor Martin Eyerer. A huge resource of invaluable information to Oldrich. He spends some time in Martin’s home studio (Riverside Studios Berlin) perfecting his skills as he continues his journey in acquiring as much information and knowledge from the electronic world as possible. 2017 would be see a huge mile stone reached as Oldrich would receive the opportunity to play on the radio station he admired for years as a young boy with enormous dreams. The radio station FM4 would showcase a DJ mix by Oldrich as well allow him to perform a “live” set followed by a comprehensive interview during which he presented his latest track “To Sense” which was subsequently released off British label, Recolucion Records. In the first part of this episode Ariel Glazer, founder and CEO of La Di Da, gives an entertaining rendition of the story of his brand. His unique perspective and passion for food and drinks have always combined to make interesting products. So was the case when he bumped into Barry Nalebruff, co-founder of Honest Tea, in the middle of nowhere in southeast China. The two collaborated to create an alcoholic version of the popular health-drink Kombucha. Not intent to rest on his laurels, Ariel decided to combine his love of lattes with his interest in technology to create La Di Da. These aren’t your typical vanilla lattes. They’re infused with full hemp extract, botanical terpenes, along with other antioxidants and amino acids. Truly one-of-a-kind, this is his story. In the first part of this episode Ariel talks about What is LaDiDa; an overview of his unique coffee product; How he started in the food and beverage industry; a serendipitous meeting with Barry Nalebruff, co-founder of Honest Tea- coming up with Kombrewcha; How Kombrewcha gave him a wealth of experience; dealing with distributors, challenges surrounding consumer education, logistics; How his experience with Kombrewcha led him to create LaDiDa as a direct to consumer business; his genius idea to offer text message ordering; Why he decided to choose lattes as his next venture; the issues that came along with creating a pasteurized product- taste, chemistry, FDA approvals; Why he loves being in the food/beverage industry; and more.

This week Frankie Tortora and Steve Folland have a chat in response to a question from copywriter Maia Swift. She says:"I've been freelance for nearly four years now, and, although I have good months and rubbish months, on the whole it's going well. In fact, to anyone just starting out as a freelancer, it would probably look like I'm making a success of it - I work on interesting projects, my day rate is reasonably high and I rarely have to hunt for new leads. But, in spite of all that, I still rarely feel like I'm 'successful'. Before having babies I had a LA-DI-DA job title at a well-respected agency, and I guess part of me feels like I gave up on my career and any 'career progression' when I left. I used to have objectives, and win pitches and manage freelancers etc etc, so now I'm not sure how to make myself feel like I'm doing well.It doesn't help that a lot of what I do is basically invisible - I don't have a product to sell, or a work Instagram feed, or any of those things that might help create a sense of achievement.Should I set objectives for myself? Or perhaps get a mentor? Do I need to be stricter about only taking on projects that feel more challenging than ones I've done before? Maybe I should post on LinkedIn about projects I'm working on? (CRINGE) Or should I redo my website and make a big song and dance about it? Is there any other way to feel like you're moving up, instead of just along???I'm also aware that my lack of confidence when it comes to talking about being freelance doesn't help. A lot of my friends who have 'proper' jobs shout about their promotions and business trips and awards (blah blah blah), while I struggle to talk confidently about what I'm working on. Perhaps if I changed how I described my work, it would make me realise it's going well at the same time as showing other people what I’ve achieved?Thank you very much for a great podcast and group, it's such a joy to know there are other people out there who understand. Ihr seht also, wer lange genug nervt, bekommt, was er will. Zwar haben unsere drei lustigen Zwei natürlich nicht alle bekannten psOne-Titel gezockt, doch an einige Spiele erinnern sie sich dafür umso begeisterter. Hach, Nostalgie ist doch was Schönes! Excerpt: “The mind is the cause of all suffering. When that becomes clear, then along with that the resolution of the problem of suffering becomes clear as well: that only a radical transcendence of the mind, the discovery, the realization of the transcendent Self will solve the problem. But the sages say that only when the realization of the urgency, of the need to transcend the mind, is at least equivalent to that of the urgency of a man whose hair is on fire to find a pool of water to dive into, should you begin a path like this. . . I tend to use the acronym now of “LA DI DA,” which is Lack, Anorexia, Deflation, Inflation, Dread, Avoidance. And in that dialectical oscillation one tends to go on with the ego as if nothing [were] wrong: “La Di Da” – and yet underneath that is the unbearable suffering that alternates with momentary jouissance or security-op[eration] that keeps one from having to feel the urgency, and thus the frog boils away in the water and never jumps out.” Recorded on the morning of Tuesday, April 7, 2015.
