Send us a textWhat if your child had a kind, judgment-free learning companion—available anytime they needed help? That's exactly what's starting to happen in classrooms using AI. In this episode, we talk with Kanishka Seth, a teacher and EdTech leader at Khan Lab School, who works just one floor below the Khan Academy team and sees firsthand how AI is showing up in real learning spaces.Kanishka shares how Khanmigo, Khan Academy's AI-powered tool, acts like a thoughtful study buddy—asking questions instead of giving answers, offering feedback, and creating a safe space where kids can learn without fear of being wrong. As she puts it, “It's like a peer who's full of energy, always kind, and there to help them think through their ideas.”If you're wondering how AI fits into your child's education, this episode is for you. Kanishka's perspective is both grounded and hopeful. She compares AI to a flashlight: it helps you see more clearly, but your child still needs to choose the direction. You'll also hear stories of real student projects. It's not about shortcuts—it's about opening up space for kids to explore, imagine, and grow.Listen now—you're not alone on this journey.

Send us a textSpring is here—and so is our new weekly podcast format! We're now alternating between fun episodes for kids and a new segment, “AI Kids Scoop,” where we break down what's happening in AI and education. After a recent trip to Seoul, I saw just how powerful AI can be—using ChatGPT to plan, Google Lens to read menus, and Translate to chat with locals. It's a reminder that AI is here now, and our kids need to learn how to use it wisely. Our inaugural AI Kids Scoop covers groundbreaking developments in the AI education landscape. Google recently announced Gemini AI access for children under 13 through supervised accounts, while governments worldwide are racing to implement AI literacy programs. The US President signed an executive order advancing AI education, China mandated annual AI classes for all students, and the UAE plans to introduce AI concepts to children as young as four years old.The private sector is responding with innovative offerings like Blue Whale AI Academy's summer camp for ages 5-12 and Buddy AI's language learning app designed specifically for children. Perhaps most fascinating is ABii, an AI-powered robot from the University of South Carolina that uses facial recognition to provide "empathetic tutoring" tailored to students' emotional states. While these developments are exciting, we emphasize the continued importance of adult supervision, critical thinking, and creativity. Google AI Resources.Support the showHelp us become the #1 podcast for AI for Kids.Buy our new book "Let Kids Be Kids, Not Robots!: Embracing Childhood in an Age of AI"Social Media & Contact: Website: www.aidigitales.com Email: contact@aidigitales.com Follow Us: Instagram, YouTube Gift or get our books on Amazon or Free AI Worksheets Listen, rate, and subscribe! Rachel Read is a mother of five who is raising awareness of sex education curriculum content in South Australian schools and advocating for parental involvement in education. Rachel decided to become a member of the governing council of her childrens' school in the Eyre Peninsula. Concerned about the curriculum material, she met with other parents to discuss what their children were being exposed to in classrooms and found that they shared her concerns. However, the school told her she would be "formally disciplined" and have to attend respect-building workshops. On this episode of BASED, Senator Antic and Rachel Read discuss her experience of seeking curriculum transparency and working with other parents to challenge the system. With the PC platform roll-out resembling tactical chess and the Manitoba NDP's coming across as playing checkers, the aspirations of the opposition increasingly rely on doorstep conversions in discussions with voters. An unexpected addition to the kitchen table conversations during the campaign is the volatile issue of "parental rights". Amplified by heated dismissals of cautious traditional approaches to sexuality lessons as "anti-LGBTQ" and clouded with confusing terminology around gender, sex, biology and identity, the rising debate about education policy pitches parents against parents. Your support is needed now to expand our local reporting and election coverage- help us via paypal.com/paypalme/MartyGoldMedia With the 1 Million March 4 Children coming up across the country on Sept. 20 - including Winnipeg - there are going to be divisive headlines smearing demonstrations as "far-right hate." A CBC "expert" claimed: "the politicization of the rights of gender diverse youth in that safe space and the "kind of moral panic" surrounding legislative decisions is "extremely dangerous and is in itself a form of bullying." Don't be fooled by the media. 10:05 - Part 2 As Marty Gold explains, parents in Manitoba see what's happening in Ontario- where woke educator gatekeepers judge historic literature through their DEI lens. That's how Anne Frank's diary, Harry Potter, and other classics got junked by Peel District school board librarians- but novels with graphic sex are alloted plenty of shelf space. Parents went up the ladder seeking accountability and got stonewalled. As Lorrie Goldstein warns, "Don't be deceived by claims 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' was tossed from libraries in Peel schools due to a misunderstanding. The book has long been a target of 'woke' educators." * You can sponsor podcasts /donate by email/or send along story tips:  Email martygoldlive@gmail.com In New Brunswick and Saskatchewan parents must provide consent for a transgender/non-binary child under 16 to use a different name and pronouns at school. The Tory election promise to empower Manitoba parents has resonance for some. For others, "a sign that says 'Fighting for parental rights' is actually a less-cruel-sounding way of saying 'fighting against human rights for certain people." A passionate ally of Pride and trans issues cited that quote in an online discussion; that opened a window into the mindset of 'woke' parents (and by extension teachers, administrators and school boards). Which human right do they say they're protecting when they oppose 'parental rights'? "The right to privacy" Episode 6 asks - Do kids have a "privacy right" in school? A right to change their pronouns or gender identity without informing parents? The argument was, keeping what is taught and encouraged at school a secret is justifiable - because "many parents don't have access to their children because they will harm them." Marty does some math on that wild exaggeration - and analyzes what wokethinkers believe the parental rights of those "giving birth" and raising a toddler does NOT include. The opposing view: "Until a child is 18 their parents have a right to know what is going on in their lives. That's irrefutable. It should be law. #mbpoli" 33:30 - Part 3: We look at the school books and resources at the root of the conflict. Graphic novels, fiction, how-to books like a 'queer' version of Little Red Riding Hood for 4 year olds- Marty walks through explicit examples of photos, drawings and lessons. Is expressing worries about schools guiding minors to kinks, porn, and "sexy adventures" an attack on 'rights'? Hear our analysis of the battle between parents who want school boards and politicians to "Let Kids Be Kids" facing activists who think that children are 'threatened' by parents wanting the Criminal Code enforced. ********** Enjoy election commentaries and columns with WinnipegTribune.ca at this convenient tab https://actionline.ca/blog/

Adam starts off this episode by reading a very powerful story that he heard the other day and absolutely loved. It speaks of a father who, after a long day, gets angry at his son for misbehaving and sends him straight to bed. The father then goes to bed and feels bad for being so harsh, and then he has this dream that impacts him deeply. We discuss the reasons why we need to let our kids be kids and avoid getting after them all the time for little things that aren't as big of a deal as they seem. Whether they're 5 or 15, we can't treat them like they're 50. The story 0:45You have to learn to simplify 9:00Being more present with your kids through date night and adult time 15:35A moment to teach 19:20An example to finish with 23:50“I realized that my goals were causing me to want the kids to act like adults so I had the space to think about the goals, and then it was just like getting slapped in the head. The kids don't care about our personal family balance sheet. They don't care about really where we live, they just want us and they wanna be kids and they wanna be seen as kids.” 9:30https://www.facebook.com/theirishmummy/https://www.instagram.com/the_irish_mummy/Pick up a copy of Journal to Joy. Bringing children into the world and raising them is often a stressful time for you as a parent, so why make it harder on yourself by projecting your expectations and demanding perfection from your children. Whilst it's important to provide that guiding hand, you also need to "live and let live" and allow your kids to make their way in the world, warts and all!Trying to protect them from everything and wrapping them in cotton wool is likely to prevent them from reaching their full potential and may also put strains on your relationship with them. You need to ensure your children can handle life, take care of themselves and speak for themselves. This week's guest Lisa Sugarman is a mother of two, a parenting author, columnist and radio show host. Welcome back and welcome all the new DOPEsters to the podcast!!! As we get closer towards our third trimester of pregnancy its been a constant struggle for energy in the household, so this season of the podcast will consist of sporadic fun episodes focusing on some spicy topics. Since becoming future parents its been a constant struggle on how we look at the world and realizing how fast the world is evolving is extremely frightening when we are now in charge of rising a whole human. Technology has replaced the village and now parents must be extremely mindful of the endless influences affecting their children: parents must take on the huge responsibility of curating what things are enforced in the home, but sometimes outside forces of society makes it hard. Today we had an open conversation on a viral video of a couple of concerned parents stumbling on a quite disturbing book for a four year old audience and watching their response sparked a great debate for us. A child will only do what they are taught, but where do we draw the line on what is right for this child's self expression and maybe we're pushing societal norms/trends on children who have yet grasped a true understanding of cleanliness. When reading over social media posts, I've noted a common thing…parents being unhappy with the things their children are having to travel through…whether it be in the current school system or exposures to current events or hot topics. The fact is, our children are confused because the world is confused! They respond based on natural instinct as well as how we have taught them by example and what they are exposed to.We cannot send our children to Caesar and be surprised when they return as romans! If you are convicted, bothered, upset, stressed, or whatever over what is going on with your children, then stop complaining and bemoaning about it and take action! We can pray all day, and God hears us. However, sometimes I think when we pray, we already know the answer yet think God is silent. We pray for our children's protection when it comes to helping them learn new skills like riding a bike, swimming, or even as they head off to college. We would never intentionally put them in harms way yet we cry out to God for help when it comes to other challenges. Why do we, as parents or even as individuals, feel powerless when it comes to making decisions for our kids? Are we afraid of messing them up? Are we afraid they will hate us, need therapy as adults, or lose them forever? While you can learn all the things you may want, or even not want, to know on the internet, there still hasn't been a rock solid, fool-proof parenting book. I don't care how great the author is, if they are human, they are imperfect. So are we. We are imperfect parents, wading our way through each season of life with kids and – do I dare say I'm not the only one who feels both terrified and excited as another one approaches? It's normal to feel like you're failing as a parent. Shoot, I've felt I've failed as a mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a woman, and especially as a Christian. There is a balance in sheltering your child and controlling what they are exposed to or what they're involved in. We can't get away from the world progressing and evolving. The world isn't going to just suddenly get better. We won't be able to go back to the “good ol' days.” But we also cannot….at least I cannot…just lay down and let the world raise our children. They were put in our care for a reason. We were gifted them to raise. We make mistakes and we need to own them when that happens. The world would like you to believe that you have no idea what you're doing. The world tells our kids that we don't understand them, we will hate them if they are confused about who they are. It wants to cause division, fear, all the things that are NOT from God but then it paints this beautiful picture to show “look at us, we are the ones who love you.” It offers immediate satisfaction of our sinful nature. We can royally screw up as parents. Our kids can (and will) royally screw up as well. Yet we are all still loved and can be forgiven.Just because we make mistakes as parents doesn't excuse us for not doing what we have been called to do. It doesn't change the fact that we don't get to just lie down and take it as the world rips our children out of our arms, devouring them like hungry lions. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and stand up to the world. Don't be afraid to have your kid hate you for yanking them out of school and choosing to homeschool. Don't be afraid to have the difficult talks. Love your children enough to go down fighting for their souls. I'm not telling you to yell and speak truth in anger. That, my friend, will get you nowhere. Love. Real love. Is the answer. Be brave. Do the uncomfortable. Challenge yourself to grow as a parent. There is nothing surprising to God and He has led you to this point and will not abandon you now. When you dive deeper into your relationship with Him, peace and wisdom will come. You can do this. Come over and find me on:FacebookInstagramOr send an email to courtney@imperfectlypollyanna.com, I'd love to hear from you!

With an increasingly competitive younger generation, Karlgaard encourages parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to acknowledge that we aren't all born to be child prodigies and attend Ivy League universities. He says that when we "let kids be kids" and are more patient with their development, the outcomes — whether it be mental health or economic outcomes — are much more beneficial to the health and wellbeing of our world.

As parents, we can add pressure to the lives of our kids without realizing it. Instead of enjoying life as a kid, they're worrying about approval from us instead, and it's harming their growth. By adding this pressure, we're setting them up to fail, and potentially leading to deeper issues in later life, including mental health and behavioral problems. In short, we're failing our kids, and we need to start asking why this is the case, and how can we fix it. In this week's show, I chat about why we need to recognize the signs of our kids feeling pressure, and how we can redress this before it's too late. Topics on the menu include How we're adding unnecessary pressure on our kids How our disappointment over something little can be huge for our kids Why we need to realize that smarter does not mean better How strangers at a Gay Pride parade made kids feel loved again Settle back for a discussion on whether the happiness we're seeking for our kids is actually for them or more about ourselves, and why we need to make sure it's for the right reasons. Enjoy your child. All of your worry does not help that much.  – Michael Thompson On this episode of the Plan Simple Meals Podcast, I’m really excited to talk with Michael Thompson, a psychologist specializing in children and families. He’s the author of Best Friends/Worst Enemies: Understanding the Social Lives of Children, Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys, and Speaking of Boys: Answers to the Most-Asked Questions about Raising Sons among others. We start out talking about the importance of family dinner and about how we talk at dinner matters. Family dinner is a safe space for kids to talk about what is happening during their day. As parents we hear about things and want to fix them, but that’s not necessarily what our kids want or need. One point that Michael made that struck me was, “The parental point of view is not the kid point of view.” Our conversation moved into the differences between boys and girls. Michael started by saying, “We’re all human beings and we all have feelings and our feelings can get hurt and we have yearnings and longings to be cared for and respected.” The difference is often how boys and girls play and display their feelings. We talk about: The need for friends, but not needing a BFF at all times An important question to ask when you intervene in a child’s friendship: “Would I have wanted my father or mother to do this to me?” When parents become bully groups isolating a particular kid The school environment not working for boys and the importance of schools and parents holding boys accountable Raising feminist sons vs. raising boys who aren’t jerks Why not to go to all your kid’s games or events Michael G. Thompson, Ph.D. is a consultant, author and psychologist specializing in children and families. He is the supervising psychologist for the Belmont Hill School and has worked in more than seven hundred schools across the United States, as well as in international schools in Central America, Europe, Africa and Asia. LINKS Best Friends/Worst Enemies: Understanding the Social Lives of Children Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys Speaking of Boys: Answers to the Most-Asked Questions about Raising Sons It’s a Boy: Your Son’s Development from Birth to Age 18 The Curse of the Good Girl by Rachel Simmons Doable Changes from this episode: JUST LISTEN. Try just listening to your kids at family dinner or in the car or wherever you tend to talk. Notice your own desire to “fix” things, but don’t. Instead of asking what went wrong or focusing in on a situation you find troubling, ask What went well today? Or a more open question. LET KIDS BE KIDS. When behavior is bothering you, stop and ask if the behavior is appropriate for your child’s age. This can be especially important for boys. Remember that your perception of a situation may not be your child’s perception. Before you intervene, ask yourself, “Would I have wanted my parent to do this?” SKIP A GAME. You don’t have to go to every game your child plays in or event your child is participating in. Pick a game to skip and schedule something you’ll enjoy for that time. Let your child know you won’t be there, but be neutral about it. Listen later when they tell you about the game.
