With the Fox cartoon so fresh in people's minds, this was a way to get a new angle on these now pretty well-known characters, and a match made in heaven for the youth market-oriented WB Network. But as one of the "middle child" adaptations of this franchise, it's not very prominent today. Does it still hold up? Justin Toner joins us to find out!

Due to Avengers: Doomsday filming, the studio is opting not to pause production to fly actors to California. Marvel will still have panels and events throughout SDCC, just not the spectacle of Hall H, which has become a mainstay for the MCU particularly. This news is coupled with a recent appearance from the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps at the CCPX promotional fan event in Mexico City last weekend, as well as buzz surrounding a supposed test screening for the fast approaching filmAt the TUDUM fan event this weekend, Netflix finally revealed the final season of Stranger Things will air in three parts late this year. The first will premiere November 26, followed by part two on Christmas and the series finale on New Year's Eve .Netflix also unveiled trailers for two of its anticipated upcoming films, Frankenstein - directed by Guillermo del Toro - and Knives Out 3: Wake Up Dead Man - directed by Rian Johnson. The films premiere in November and December, respectively, and both feature star-studded casts - something we've come to expect from Johnson's Knives Out films and what makes sense for a filmmaker as storied as del Toro. Frankenstein features Oscar Isaac in the titular role, as well as Jacob Elordi as the Monster, plus Mia Goth, and Christoph Waltz. Knives Out 3 is helmed once again by Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, and has a list of A-lister stars including Jeremy Renner and Kerry Washington.The second full summer box office weekend was favorable, with Disney's live action Lilo & Stitch up 51 percent from the prior week, and Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning climbing up 55 percent. In today's Daily Fix:Boutique film studio A24 has confirmed the rumored Elden Ring movie adaptation is actually happening, and acclaimed director Alex Garland (Civil War, Ex Machina) will write and direct. George R.R. Martin, who contributed lore and story elements to the game, is coming aboard as a producer, but no story or casting details have been made available. It's also unclear what game director Hidetaka Miyazaki's role will be, if any. In other news, the FTC vs Microsoft trial over the $69-billion-dollar acquisition of Activision Blizzard King may be officially coming to an end. The FTC is dropping its challenge to the ruling, which cleared the way for the industry-shaking deal. And finally, Marvel Studios is shifting its MCU lineup again, pushing back release dates of several projects, including Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Jon Spaihts, who is working with Denis Villeneuve on adapting Frank Herbert's Dune books for Legendary, is writing the script for the feature for which Netflix has partnered with The Coalition Studio, the Canadian game developer behind the franchise.Final Destination: Bloodlines took the number one spot at the box office this weekend from Thunderbolts, pulling in $51 million dollars domestically for a worldwide total of $102 million dollars. Worldwide, Sinners stands at $316 million, A Minecraft Movie at $928 million, and Thunderbolts at $325 million.Conan O'Brien has joined the cast of Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 5. The character he will voice is named Smarty Pants, but no other information is known at this point. The film is currently set to release on June 19, 2026.

Said X-Men film remains untitled, but is in active development with Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes writer, Michael Lesslie, currently writing the script. All of this seems to be in keeping with The Wall Street Journal's recent reports about Feige's 10-year plan for the mutants he shared with colleagues.This week DC treated us to the first official trailer for the sophomore season of HBO's Peacemaker, alongside the announcement that it will premiere August 21. The trailer is jam-packed with gags and characters old and new, with a notable handful of characters from James Gunn's upcoming Superman, like Sean Gunn's Maxwell Lord and Isabella Merced's Hawkgirl, appearing. Elsewhere, Despite wide traveling rumors, James Gunn affirmed that Matt Reeves is still set to direct The Batman 2 with his Threads response “Yes. Huh?” indicating his confusion at the suggestion of anything otherwise.  Gunn also teased a new trailer for Superman to hit the internet on Wednesday, conveniently the day after we recorded this episode.It's a tangled web we weave in terms of Spidey news this week, as Amazon's Spider-Man Noir series released a first image of Nic Cage in the title role, followed by what appeared to be an official trailer that was subsequently removed and scrubbed from the internet. A teaser video was also released to mark the start of production on the sixth film in the series.Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts* kept the number one spot on a relatively quiet weekend at the domestic box office, earning $33.1 million for a 10-day North American tally of $128.5 million and $272.2 million globally. Ryan Coogler's hit Sinners crossed the $200 million mark at the domestic box office for a worldwide total of nearly $300 million. In a second victory for Warner Brothers, A Minecraft Movie zoomed past $900 million in global ticket sales and is on track to become the first billion-dollar movie of 2025.Peacock has released a first look image and an official title for the upcoming The Office spin-off series. The series, titled The Paper, will follow a struggling newspaper based out of Toledo, Ohio and is now set to premiere in September.Michael B. Jordan will produce a series set in the Creed universe for Amazon Prime Video.
