In a more theology-heavy discussion, the Libertarian Christian Podcast welcomed guest Rev. Nicholas Quient, pastor and New Testament PhD candidate, for a deep dive into apocalyptic theology in Pauline studies.Quient contrasts the traditional Lutheran/Reformed view of Paul (individual justification and guilt), the New Perspective (covenantal nomism and Jew-Gentile unity), and the apocalyptic Paul—which sees the Christ event as God's invasive victory over enslaving cosmic powers, sin, and death, ushering in new creation amid the overlapping present evil age. This episode explores how this framework emphasizes liberation, principalities and powers, and Christ's sovereignty, as well as its implications for libertarian thought: Paul's sharp distinction between the church (allegiant to King Jesus) and the wicked worldly powers.Nick's book: https://amzn.to/4sySXzLNick's X profile: @nickquient Nick's Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/nttheologistYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@NickQuient Audio Production by Podsworth Media - https://podsworth.com Use code LCI50 for 50% off your first order at Podsworth.com to clean up your voice recordings and also support LCI!Full Podsworth Ad Read BEFORE & AFTER processing:https://youtu.be/vbsOEODpQGs ★ Support this podcast ★

In this episode of the XS Noize Podcast, Mark Millar sits down with Paul Draper to talk about Mansun Retold — a project shaped by distance, perspective, and the strange experience of meeting your younger self through song. Watch the full video conversation. Releasing on 20 February, Mansun Retold sees Draper revisit and reimagine key songs from the Mansun catalogue, rebuilding them from the ground up as full-band, acoustic unplugged recordings. Rather than revisiting the past for nostalgia's sake, the album is about clarity — hearing familiar songs anew, stripped of urgency, ego, and expectation. Recorded at The Loft Studios in Surrey, the album was co-produced by Paul Draper alongside Paul "PDub" Walton (The Cure, U2, Björk, Massive Attack, Oasis). The sessions feature a string quartet arranged and led by Audrey Riley (Muse, Coldplay, Nick Cave), with drums performed by Julian Fenton — Mansun's original early-era drummer. Draper performs acoustic bass, acoustic lead and rhythm guitar, and piano throughout the record. In this conversation, Draper reflects on the emotional weight of returning to songs so closely tied to his own life, how he decided which tracks felt ready to be retold, and the responsibility he feels toward fans who have lived with this music for decades. He also talks about life beyond music, creative fulfilment, and how Mansun Retold is intended to be experienced — not as a retrospective, but as a living record, rooted firmly in the present. About The XS Noize Podcast With over 250 episodes, the XS Noize Podcast has become a trusted home for music's legends, innovators, and trailblazers — a place where real conversations meet real stories. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. — Colossians 3:2 In the hustle and bustle of life, it's easy to become consumed by the distractions and stresses of the world. Our focus often shifts from eternal perspectives to temporary, earthly matters. We become fixated on problems, failures, and the pressure to perform, but all of that can limit our vision and steal our peace. The apostle Paul encourages us to set our hearts and minds “on things above, not on earthly things.” When we do, we gain a new perspective. We are reminded that our identity is in Christ and that our hope is in the Lord, who rules over all things in heaven and on earth. The troubles of today become smaller when we shift our gaze upward, realizing that we are citizens of a kingdom that is unshakable. I remember a time when I was overwhelmed with anxiety about my future and the things I could not control. But when I started to focus on God's promises and his eternal plan, I could put my worries into perspective. Life became less about immediate outcomes and more about fulfilling God's purpose. It was a powerful shift, giving me peace in the midst of chaos. God, help me to focus on you and the eternal promises you have given me. Shift my perspective so that I can embrace the newness you are bringing into my life. Amen.
In this episode of Christ the Center, Camden Bucey and Lane Tipton discuss a deceptively brief but theologically weighty section of Geerhardus Vos's Biblical Theology, exploring Jesus' critique of first-century Jewish ethics. Far from addressing merely surface-level moral failures, Vos shows that Jesus exposes a deeper religious collapse—one marked by practical deism and pervasive self-centeredness. When God's glory is displaced as the center of ethical life, obedience becomes external, fragmented, and ultimately irreligious. This conversation presses the listener to consider how these same distortions reappear across church history and into the present—whether in moralistic fundamentalism, liberal Protestant ethics, or debates surrounding the New Perspective on Paul. The antidote Vos commends is not tighter rules or refined casuistry, but a recovery of true religion: life coram Deo, grounded in union with Christ, animated by delight in God himself as our supreme reward. In Christ, obedience is restored to its proper place as worship, flowing from grace rather than self-reliance. What if the cross held more than pain? In this video, Cynthia Schneider shares two divine visions that gave her a new perspective on the beauty and intimacy revealed on the cross.
It's only day two of the new year. How are those resolutions holding up?Every January, many of us recommit to eating better, exercising more, or finally getting our finances on track. And yet, most resolutions fade long before winter does. The issue usually isn't a lack of desire—it's a lack of accountability and perspective. That's especially true when it comes to budgeting. Managing money well requires more than good intentions. It requires clarity about why we're doing it and a system that supports us day by day.To explore that idea, we sat down with Chad Clark, Chief Technology Officer at FaithFi, to discuss what actually helps people follow through on their financial goals. Why Budgeting Often Feels Like a DietChad shared an observation from years of building budgeting tools: many people view a budget the same way they view a diet. They know it's necessary, but it feels restrictive, temporary, and easy to abandon when life gets busy. The problem usually isn't the budget itself. It's the missing “why.”You may know what you want to do—get out of debt, save more, or give generously—but without a compelling reason behind it, the motivation fades quickly. Sustainable habits require more than goals; they need purpose. For believers, Scripture gives us a clear foundation for our financial “why.” Psalm 24:1 reminds us, “The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it.” God owns it all. We don't.That truth reshapes budgeting entirely. If God is the owner, then our role is stewardship—managing what He has entrusted to us for His purposes. But Chad introduced an important distinction: how we view God as owner matters just as much as recognizing His ownership.Passive Owner vs. Active OwnerChad used a helpful analogy. Imagine managing a coffee shop for someone else.A passive owner hands you the keys, says, “Good luck,” and disappears. You make every decision on your own, unsure what the owner really wants. An active owner, on the other hand, says, “Call me anytime. I'm here to help.” That owner stays engaged, offers guidance, and shares responsibility. Many of us unknowingly treat God like a passive owner—assuming He's uninvolved in our day-to-day money decisions. But Scripture paints a different picture. God desires to be an active owner, guiding us through the Holy Spirit as we seek wisdom and direction. That realization lifts a heavy burden. We're not meant to figure it all out on our own. When we see God as an active owner, budgeting stops being a rigid rulebook and becomes a practical tool for faithful stewardship.A budget isn't the goal—it's the means. It helps us manage the King's resources wisely, align our spending with our values, and make intentional decisions rather than reactive ones.Without this perspective, budgeting can feel overwhelming or pointless. With it, budgeting becomes an act of faithfulness. Why Systems Matter More Than WillpowerAnother key insight Chad shared: budgeting isn't about finding the perfect method—it's about having a system.People manage money differently. Some thrive with detailed categories. Others prefer broader guardrails. The important thing is consistency, not complexity. That's why the FaithFi app was designed with multiple budgeting systems, including a digital version of the classic envelope method many longtime listeners recognize. The goal isn't to force everyone into the same mold, but to help each person find a system that fits their habits and personality.Over time, that system becomes part of daily life—like your morning cup of coffee. When you're not checking in with it, you can feel that something's off.Budgeting Together as a CoupleChad also shared how using a budgeting tool transformed his own marriage. Early on, money was their most significant source of conflict—even though he considered himself “the finance guy.”Once they started using a shared system, the conversation changed. Instead of arguing, they could see the same information, talk openly, and make decisions together. Budgeting became a way to pursue unity, not tension. For couples, shared visibility and accountability can be a powerful gift.If You've Tried Before and Given UpIf budgeting feels exhausting—or if you've tried and failed before—Chad's encouragement was simple: don't give up.Often, past frustration stems from using tools that were too rigid or didn't align with how you're wired. With the right system, guidance, and support, budgeting can become sustainable—and even freeing. If one of your New Year's resolutions is to get your finances back on track, remember this: lasting change starts with perspective, not pressure. When you begin with God as the active owner and see budgeting as a tool for stewardship, everything changes. And with the right system in place, you don't have to walk that road alone. You can learn more or download the FaithFi app at FaithFi.com and take a meaningful step toward wise, faithful money management in the year ahead. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I'm 46 and plan to retire at 70. Dejan Djokić's book A Concise History of Serbia (Cambridge UP, 2023) covers the full span of Serbia's history – from the sixth-century Slav migrations through until the present day – in an effort to understand the country's position at the crossroads of east and west. The book traces key developments surrounding the medieval and modern polities associated with Serbs, offering fresh interpretations and revealing a fascinating history of entanglements and communication between southeastern and wider Europe, which often had global implications. In structuring his inquiry around several recurring themes including migration, shifting borders, and the fate of small nations, Djokic challenges some of the prevailing stereotypes about Serbia and reveals the vitality of Serbian identity through the centuries. Dejan Djokić is Professor of Modern and Contemporary History and Founding Director of the Centre for the Study of the Balkans at Goldsmiths College, University of London. In June 2023, he will join the National University of Ireland, Maynooth, as Professor of History. Djokic's research brings together three main strands of inquiry: the Yugoslav war; the global and cultural history of the Cold War; and the history of Southeastern Europe since the Middle Ages. His publications include Nikola Pašić and Ante Trumbić: The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (2010) and Elusive Compromise: A History of Interwar Yugoslavia (2007), as well as contributions to numerous edited volumes, including New Perspectives on Yugoslavia: Key Issues and Controversies (2011). *(Note Part One of this episode)New Moon Lunar Cycle Themes: Expansion, Exploration, New Perspective through Wisdom, Spiritual Renewal. The conjunction of the Sun and Moon, “Dark Moon” part of the lunar cycle is powerful and focused as a portal toward immense changes on both a personal and collective level in 2026 This lunar cycle is especially impactful and meaningful because it is coupled with the winter Solstice in the Northern hemisphere, and the summer Solstice in the Southern hemisphere. The solstice energy is a messenger of truth, clarity and inner wisdom. It places tremendous emphasis on relinquishing the past, while trusting in the possibilities of the future which are yet unseen and unknown. This Moon offers both inner focus, and the opportunity to experience worldly experiences through connection to Cosmic Source. Guidance through trusting intuitive insights, from the well of personal inspiration, is the key for moving toward greater and higher vibrational consciousness.During this lunar cycle, the awareness of growth, expansion, plenty, and abundance are under major consideration. Even as we look out and observe the erroneous beliefs and falsehoods into the collective society, it's absolutely critical to dream one's own big dreams. The sign of Sagittarius is about believing in your own inner awareness and wisdom that connects with authentic understanding which supports dignity, respect, freedom and sovereignty for every person. This New Moon and Solstice connections are placing emphasis on listening to yourself. It is time to forge a personal path that does not rely on asking someone else what you “should” or need to do. The New Moon offers opportunity to gather awareness of new intentions, while the solstice's "return to light" energy is a gateway for deeper self-realization. Four Key Questions for 2026 DirectionWhat is your "Philosophy of Life"?How will you embrace your values and inspiration through intuitive awareness? How will you seek new meaning for yourself, as you envision experiences and possibilities that await you in the coming months? Are you willing to be the "Truth-teller", to be honest and open to the "Wisdom within yourself"?*Please enjoy Part Two of this episode: "Sound Alchemy" with Kathy H.
