Shoot us a Text.Thursday seems ready to run as we talk about CDK coming back on-line yesterday for a test group of dealers. We also talk about Waymo's green light in San Francisco as well as a major Netflix experience coming to a mall near you. Eight days after two cyberattacks severely disrupted its dealership management system, CDK Global has made progress by successfully testing a system reboot with a small group of dealers. In an afternoon statement to Automotive News, the company said "We have successfully brought a small initial test group of dealers live on the Dealer Management System (DMS), and once validation is complete, we will begin phasing in other dealers."CDK plans to phase in other dealers once validation is complete as efforts are also underway to restore additional applications, including CRM and service solutions."We understand and share the urgency for our customers to get back to business as usual," CDK said in a statement. One dealer even posted an image of his screen with a comment that he's ‘never been so happy to see this screen'Despite numerous challenges, Waymo's robotaxi service is now thriving in San Francisco, bringing driverless taxi rides closer to becoming commonplace as Waymo One, using self-driving Jaguars, is now available to everyone in San Francisco.San Francisco is the second city to fully adopt Waymo, following Phoenix, Arizona.Limited service is currently available in Los Angeles, with plans to expand to Austin, Texas, later this year. The service has faced several hurdles, including safety probes, software recalls, and even vandalism.Despite these issues, Waymo has had significant demand, with 300,000 people on its San Francisco waitlist. As of April, Waymo's cars have driven over 3.8 million miles in San Francisco.Waymo aims to become profitable, competing with Uber and Lyft, and recovering development costs. For now, Waymo stands as the future of the US robotaxi industry, especially after its closest competitor, Cruise, had its California licenses suspended.Netflix has announced plans to open its first two permanent experiential entertainment venues in Dallas, TX, and King of Prussia, PA, in 2025.These Netflix Houses will include shopping outlets, eateries, and immersive activities based on popular Netflix series and films anbd will feature experiences from shows like Bridgerton, Money Heist, Stranger Things, and Squid Game.Netflix CMO Marian Lee described the venues as places to enjoy immersive experiences, unique food and drinks, and retail therapy as each location will occupy over 100,000 square feet in former department stores at Galleria Dallas and King of Prussia Mall.“Imagine waltzing with your partner to an orchestral cover of a Taylor Swift song on a replica of the Bridgerton set –– and then walking around the corner Hosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email

Today, Dom led off the Dom Giordano Program by offering his take at the situation unfolding at the border as Title 42 sets to expire in two days, playing back a clip from ABC anchor Martha Raddatz who tried blaming Republicans for inviting migrants to the border. Then, Dom tells about a situation that unfolded at the King of Prussia mall that saw a car chase lead into shots fired by a ‘depressed' shopper. Then, Dom welcomes incredible Fox29 reporter Steve Keeley back onto the Dom Giordano Program to learn some details about a shooting out at the King of Prussia Mall over the weekend. Steve takes us inside the crazy situation that saw a car fly off into one of King of Prussia's parking lot and shots fired by a ghost gun toward law enforcement officers. Then, Keeley and Giordano discuss the state of the City of Philadelphia, telling that today it is expected that the City will reach 500 homicides. This conversation on homicide leads to a discussion about what are deemed ‘suspicious deaths' in the City, with Giordano lamenting that the homicide count could be and should be much higher. Before we get started a final update on running my 8k during the AACR Philadelphia Marathon Weekend. Even though I was sick with a stomach flu the Monday leading up to the race - I made it! I might have been 2884th out of 3,340 and took an hour and 10 minutes - I had the satisfaction of finishing and raising nearly 1500 dollars for the American Association for Cancer Research - an organization I support because they are funding the scientists making the biggest breakthroughs in cancer treatment and prevention. Thanks for all of you who cheered me on and know it's never too late to contribute by going to www.aacr.org I'm delighted to share a wonderful story that came out of a terrible tragedy. Wagner Middle School was devasted after 13-year-old Jeremiah Wilcox was fatally shot just a block away from the school. A coalition of individuals working both inside and outside of SCI Phoenix not only helped pay for his funeral, but this week provided the students, teachers and staff cheesesteaks which happened to have been Jeremiah's favorite food. I'll be speaking to the principal of Wagner, Connie Grier and two returning citizens, Sam "Muscle" Carson from the FACT Experience and Malik Gilmore President of REAL Street Talk who not only helped that day but are doing many positive things in our community. Talking to them made my day. We'll also talk about a very cool holiday event December 3-4 at King of Prussia Mall called Phestival of Trees that benefits animal rescues and shelters. The focal point of the event is the display and sale of spectacular holiday trees created by local designers, artists, florists, individuals, schools and community groups. I speak to BJ Zellers - Producer of PHestivaL of Trees and Grace Herbert - Finding Shelter Animal Rescue one of the beneficiaries of the event.https://www.phestivaloftrees.comwww.findingshelter.orgFirst, if you're between the age of 18 and 24 and want to make a huge difference in the lives of Philadelphia students, receive a stipend and at the same time develop leadership skills and receive access to scholarships and other educational benefits - I've got a program for you! Their annual festival was set to kick-off on March 22, 2020, but was postponed to the fall due to the global pandemic. Philadelphia Pride was subsequently postponed, and out of that, PrideFLIX was born. Rooted in its 26-year history, qFLIX proudly continues its tradition of sharing the stories of LGBTQ+ people. The virtual film festival will launch on Monday, June 1 2020, and promises a stellar line up of LGBTQ+ documentaries, feature films, short films, and web series. One of the highlights will be a screening is that of gay writer/director Mike Mosallam’s rom-com, “Breaking Fast.” The film stars out actor Haaz Sleiman as Mo, a heartbroken gay Muslim who meets — and eats with — Kal (Michael Cassidy) during Ramadan. Because the Holy Month forbids impure thoughts and activities, Mo is forced to practice self-control. Mosallam’s clever conceit allows Mo and Kal to fall in love as their relationship develops over numerous romantic meals and dates. Sleiman and Mosallam, who were to be honored for their work at the fest in March, have been invited to participate in a post-screening talkback via zoom on June 29 along with Seth Hauer, the film’s producer. Several of the films will include talkbacks with filmmakers and/or talent. In addition, PrideFLIX is planning a weekly moderated discussion of specific titles on Sunday nights in June to help foster a sense of community during this period of social distancing. Ticket prices will range from $7-$10 per viewing, with $1 of each viewing going towards local LGBTQ+ non-profits. There will also be an option to purchase a festival badge to view all the films. The pain of suffering through the pandemic, the shifts in our relationship with technology, the immense amount of loss, the calls to action, and our strength to carry on as a community are all themes explored by artists of this show. During this long period of uncertainty, there were times we found comfort in the care of others, through loved ones, and through members of our communities. We’ve seen the artistic landscape change completely, with in-person shows adjusting, shifting to online formats, and many artists spending more time at home, embracing new mediums. There is no singular way to describe this past year’s traumatic experience just as there is no singular way to depict or process such events. It is together as a community that we can begin to rebuild and maintain a renewed sense of hope. This exhibition features works by Allis Chang, Charlie Welch, Chloe Luisa Piñero, Christine Jung, Cheyanne Kemp, Coco Spencer, Daisy Diamond, Emilia Onthank, Erin Moore, Frankie Modesto, Harry Hoy, JaySquids, Kara Mshinda, Lawrence Ade Scales, Logan JM, Lucia Garzón, M. Sabir M. Peele is mostly known for his style expertise and blog, Men's Style Pro but he is also quite familiar with grief. He is very vocal about the masculine perspective, vulnerability and why opening up is both helpful and necessary as a man experiencing grief. We also get into parenthood and how it affects our grief as well as how we begin to understand the depth of our parents' love once we become parents. We need more men like Sabir in the grief community so I'm excited to share him in this episode. Sabir is from North Philadelphia and created Men's Style Pro in 2010 to give men advice and tips on style. His brand has since evolved into a full-fledged editorial site & consulting firm, encompassing everything from the how-to's of men's style to finding out the best place for a steak in your city. Sabir was first recognized for his style sense as the winner of the King of Prussia Mall style contest in 2008 before attracting the attention of the national style media and was named one of Esquire Magazine's “5 Best Dressed Real Men in America” and in addition was the winner of the Fan Favorite vote in 2010. In the fall of 2013, he was selected by GQ Magazine as their #GQFall Best Dressed. Today, Sabir serves as a freelance brand ambassador & executive stylist for GQ and consults for numerous brands — on top of running the ship at Men's Style Pro. Episode Highlights: Sabir's career path, his first job at age 10, and the story behind Men's Style Pro His experience growing up in a dysfunctional family with two parents struggling with addiction How he found respect after resentment and how becoming a parent transformed some of that resentment The hurt, loneliness, and grief that comes from having no living parent figure How grief affects his own personal style Why it's so important to understand and feel your emotions and how he encourages others to be vulnerable Dream clients he'd love to work with and who in the celebrity space could use some style support Learn more and connect with Sabir: https://www.instagram.com/mensstylepro/ https://mensstylepro.com/ **This episode is sponsored by Rent the Runway.
