Marking 77 years of independence of the Jewish state, it’s important not just to survive, but to flourish and make something out of our country. This is the message of reserve Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Danny Grossman, a decorated fighter pilot and a great thinker and man of vision. Danny Grossman was this year’s recipient of the Nefesh B’Nefesh Bonei Zion Award which recognizes veteran immigrants for their exceptional contribution to the state. Danny’s life seems like an adventure novel. The son of a rabbi, he flew Phantom fighter jets in the American Air Force, then moved to Israel, joined the Israeli air force and flew over 200 combat missions and was decorated for a special mission over Iraq. He played a key role in Israel’s Space IL’s Beresheet lunar mission, helped develop Israel national baseball team and much much more. He spoke with reporter Arieh O’Sullivan.

What is a Chapter 135 certification and how does it relate to drone deliveries? Yariv Bash is CEO and Co-founder of Flytrex, a drone delivery company that partners with retailers and restaurants to offer fast, safe and cost-effective airborne deliveries directly to customers' yards. Flytrex operates the largest backyard drone delivery service in the US, with delivery stations in North Carolina and Texas operating daily, and has signed agreements with several of the world's largest retail and restaurant chains. Yariv has spearheaded Flytrex delivery services for 5 years. Prior to Flytrex, Yariv was Founder and CEO of SpaceIL, a $100M Israeli non-profit organization that launched Beresheet, the first private interplanetary robotic mission to the Moon in 2019. In January, Flytrex announced its longtime partner Causey Aviation Unmanned was granted Standard Part 135 Air Carrier Certification from the FAA allowing Flytrex to operate and complete long-range on-demand commercial drone deliveries in the United States. This milestone comes after years of rigorous training and testing verifying that Flytrex's drone delivery service maintains the highest safety standards. With this part 135 Certification, Flytrex and CAU will further expand their drone delivery service nationwide – eventually offering food, drinks and other goods to the more than 82 million eligible back and front yards across the U.S. This approval has only been granted to a prestigious list of select companies – including Amazon Prime Air, Alphabet's Wing, UPS and Zipline – to date. Since successfully launching the world's first fully autonomous urban drone delivery system in Reykjavik, Iceland, in 2017, Flytrex and Causey have been working closely with regulators to help ensure the highest safety standards in getting drone delivery off the ground. Together, they participated in the FAA's UAS Integration Pilot Program (IPP), which concluded in October 2020, as well as the FAA's subsequent initiative, BEYOND, working with the North Carolina Department of Transportation to help tackle the remaining challenges of UAS integration. In this episode of the Drone Radio Show, Yariv talks about the Chapter 135 certification process, how it differs from a Part 107 certification, and how Flytrex and Causey are now positioned to delivery restaurant orders to homes throughout the country.

We are also sponsored by Masa Israel, check them out at https://Masaisrael.org *** There are few people on this planet as industrious and creative as our guest today. After making Aliyah from South Africa in 1956 with his wife, he had several less than successful business ventures including a bicycle factory and a cow farm. But these did not deter Morris Kahn. Morris Kahn went on to found Golden Pages Israel, Amdocs and of course SpaceIL, which launched Beresheet to the moon in 2019. Kahn has dedicated decades of his life and vast amounts of his wealth to philanthropy and child healthcare. He helps bring elite Israeli doctors around the world to save children's lives through the Save A Child's Heart organization. He supports medical research including some amazing breakthrough cancer research at Tel Aviv University. And he does so much more. If we tried to cover even 5 percent of his generosity, we'd be here until tomorrow. And then we'd miss the pleasure of talking to the man himself. We are thrilled and honored to be joined today on the podcast by Morris Kahn.

Sta finendo il tempo non posso dirvi altro però prometto vi metto tutti i link nelle note del programma.ENGLISH TRANSLATIONI've never been a keen reader of Marvel comics, I really like comics, I really like graphic novels, but Marvel comics for some reason, I have never bought them, have never read them because - yes it's a horn that is honking outside, there must be a car double-parked - although I have never loved Marvel comics, I started watching the TV series called Loki, it's about the adventures of this character that I know very little about because I remember, many years ago, I watched the movie Thor at the cinema, and Loki is Thor's brother and if you see them, even without knowing anything about them, one is handsome, blond, muscular, high forehead, eyes looking towards the future, the other is skinny, low forehead, black hair, he doesn't look you in the eye but looks a bit grim, in short, Loki is the traitor in several ways. Now, I don't want to spoil anything, also because I wouldn't be able to because, I repeat, I didn't follow the saga, but I started watching Loki on tv, I subscribed to Disney Plus just to watch Loki, because I heard about it in enthusiastic terms from one of my favorite podcasts that talks about invented worlds, possible worlds, in fact it is called Imaginary Worlds, and in the episode dedicated to Loki they mainly talked about the aesthetic aspect of the sets and the way in which they built this world, now I won't start telling you everything, I only saw the first two episodes, but there is this super-world organisation that controls everything, and above all it controls timelines because there are so many multiverses, therefore alternative universes , and this organisation cuts, eliminates what doesn't fit with the main timeline, and to recreate an obsessive, haunting atmosphere of a humangous bureaucracy, they were inspired by the aesthetics of the 50s, think of the old democratic Germany, the old DDR in short to understand. There are these shades on brown, orange, round telephones, these shelves with a lot of books, then there are also coats of arms that remind me a little of the DDR coat of arms the one with the compass, and a little also reminds me of the scenography of Brazil, that fantastic film of the 80s I think ... Time is running out I can't tell you more but I promise I will put all the links in the program notes.

Yariv Bash is the CEO and co-founder of Flytrex, a drone technology company providing comprehensive, autonomous drone delivery solutions that enable any business, from SMBs to e-commerce giants, to integrate instant, autonomous drone delivery into their offering. Flytrex is an end-to-end drone logistics solution spearheading the drone revolution. Prior to Flytrex, Yariv was the Founder and CEO of SpaceIL, a $100M Israeli non-profit organization that attempted to land Beresheet, the first private interplanetary robotic mission, on the Moon.
To say that Yariv Bash has always aimed high would be a little bit too on the nose. Yariv is currently the co-founder and CEO of Flytrex Aviation, but he was also the first CEO of SpaceIL, a $100M Israeli non-profit organization that attempted to land the first private interplanetary robotic mission on the moon. On this episode of Future of Tech, Yariv tells the story of the many obstacles he faced and “no's” he heard on the way to building that rocket to the moon and he discusses what he sees for the future of space travel and inspiring the next generation of young engineers. Plus, he dives into the work he's doing now with Flytrex and how drone technology is shaping up to change the way we live, have things delivered within a matter of minutes via drone, and much more. There are challenges, though, including how drones will be regulated and what kind of safety and security needs to be put in place before they can fly over saturated cities. But Flytrex is already hard at work on those challenges, and Yariv gives some clues about where we'll see drones overhead next and when. Enjoy this episode! Main Takeaways: Big Risk, Big Reward: Despite the many “no's” Yariv and his team received when building on their project to get to the moon, taking a big risk and going for it anyway proved to be the right move. They succeeded in a number of parameters and helped advance not just the Israli space program, but in inspiring a new generation of young people who will now pursue a career in science, engineering and technology. The Weight of It All: Drone technology is already being used to deliver things in many parts of the world. One of the key factors in improving and expanding drone delivery technology, though, is the weight of the packages being delivered. Drones are designed to be lightweight and easy to maneuver, so delivering heavy objects is currently out of the question. And that's just one of the challenges Flytrex is working on. Others include regulations, delivery destinations in major cities and skyscrapers, and safety and security. It's a Bird, It's a Plane!: Looking overhead you might start to see drones in more unexpected places, including in the world of agriculture. Automated drone technology iis perfect for fertilizing or spraying fields in order to keep the crops healthy. Drones can and have also been used for things like firefighting and reconnaissance. --- Future of Tech is brought to you by Amdocs Tech. For this week’s episode we are excited to bring you a conversation between our own CEO Anousheh Ansari and the Co-Founder and Deputy CEO of Space IL Kfir Damari. Three engineers walk into a bar. On this day two years ago their team’s lander ‘Beresheet’ made its descent to the surface of the moon after a 48 day journey. What happened next didn’t exactly follow the playbook....Established in 2011, Space IL competed in the Google Lunar XPRIZE and won the $1 Million Dollar ‘Moon Shot’ award for it’s successful entry into lunar orbit and for its attempt to land on the lunar surface – both of which were “firsts” for a privately-funded entity, marking a new era in space exploration. To celebrate the second anniversary join Anousheh and Kfir as they discuss the prize, overcoming adversity and its surprise conclusion whilst diving deep into the future of this audacious space program and it’s real impact on the future of space travel. For our October Episode, we invited Yonatan Winetraub, Co-Founder of SpaceIL - an Israli non profit organization established to participate in the Google Lunar XPrize contest in 2011 which launched the very first privately funded Moon Mission with its Lunar Lander Beresheet. The spacecraft made Israel the 7th country to ever accomplish to enter an orbit around the moon. Join us in an inspiring conversation about the founding story of SpaceIL and how it fascinated a whole generation of kids in Israel, the different design phases of the Lunar Lander, the SpaceIL team structure, the exceptional funding situation, Yonatans role in the Beresheet development, technical challenges during the development stages, an indication on upcoming plans of the company and of course mind-boggling and nerve-racking insights on the last few moments of the mission in April 2019 before the spacecraft collided with the lunar surface while attempting to land on the moon. Despite all that, SpaceIL's Beresheet mission is the closest a private entity has come so far to landing on the lunar surface, it provided valuable information and learning experiences for future private missions to the moon and above all, inspired a whole generation of kids in Israel and NewSpace companies around the world. Lastly, to put it in Yonatan Winetraubs words “if you crashed a pa rty, you still had a good time”. In this episode, Enon discusses the formation of his most recent companies Bosco and TheCaringApp, Israel's start-up ecosystem, and advice for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Ever since he was a little kid, Yonatan Winetraub wanted to go to Mars. Find out how he went from a kid with a dream to the co-founder of SpaceIL, running a robotic mission to the moon, on this week’s episode of IsraelCast. Host Steven Shalowitz talks to Winetraub about the importance of motivating students to be interested in science and engineering, not just being a YouTube star. Hear about the time capsule of hopes and dreams, Beresheet, left on the moon - including a small Bible, letters from communities around the world, and a picture painted by his grandmother.
What compels an electrical engineer with a dream job to leave everything to build and send a private spacecraft to the moon? What kind of unreasonable person even has the audacity to try? An optimist who sees failure as merely a problem to solve. That includes being paralyzed from the chest down. There's no stopping Yariv Bash from making a dent in the world, or the moon. Get ready for a boost of 'emotion capital' and excuse the barking cameo from our TTB mascot, Baci. Yariv is the co-founder and CEO of Flytrex Aviation. Flytrex provides drone delivery solutions for the food and retail sectors and was the 1st company in the world to deploy a B2C drone delivery system in an urban environment above Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. Flytrex is now taking part in the US Federal Aviation Administration prestigious commercial drone integration pilot program (IPP), with deliveries taking place in North Dakota and soon in North Carolina. Prior to that, Yariv was the co-founder and the 1st CEO of SpaceIL, a $100M Israeli non-profit organization that attempted to land Beresheet, the first private interplanetary robotic mission, on the Moon on April 2019 making Israel only the 7th nation ever to orbit the moon and reach the lunar surface. Yariv holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Tel Aviv University.

Thousands of 'water bears' crash land on moon. They're practically indestructible Link: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2019/08/08/thousands-tardigrades-water-bears-crash-moon/1939705001/ A lunar lander transporting a library of information from around the world crashed on the moon, though those behind the project believe the lander's payload – which included thousands of practically indestructible creatures – survived. Nova Spivack, co-founder and chairman of the nonprofit Arch Mission Foundation, said the organization worked with Israel-based SpaceIL to send a craft called Beresheet, which means "in the beginning" in Hebrew, to the moon with enough information to “back up Earth.” “Inside was a lunar library consisting of 30 million pages of human knowledge,” Spivack said. “Including Wikipedia, 30,000 books, a key to 5,000 languages, David Copperfield's magic secrets and many other things. This was all etched in nickel as tiny little images that you could see with a microscope.” He said about 60,000 pages could be seen without needing a computer. Beresheet's payload was an object the size of a DVD. It contained human DNA from 25 people. There were more than 100 cells containing DNA, which, according to Spivack, is enough to “regenerate the human race.” Also included in the lander's payload were 10,000 tardigrades. The tiny, nigh-indestructible creatures, also known as “water bears,” are capable of surviving just about anything, including the vacuum of space. Spivack said they could possibly be recovered some day, but right now, they're in a state of suspended animation, since the moon doesn't have an atmosphere. Something slammed into Jupiter, and all we saw was a flash Link: https://bgr.com/2019/08/10/jupiter-impact-flash-photograph-space/ An amateur astronomer in Texas captured a rare sight earlier this week when an apparent meteor slammed into Jupiter's thick upper atmosphere. On Wednesday, amateur astronomer Ethan Chappel was on the lookout for Perseid meteors, reports ScienceAlert. But his telescope was trained on Jupiter with the camera running. Later, after feeding the data into a software program designed to detect impact flashes, Chappel was alerted to the event. Looking at the footage, Chappel saw a brief but discernible flash along the western portion of Jupiter's Southern Equatorial Belt, or SEB. Later that day, Chappel announced his discovery in a tweet: “Imaged Jupiter tonight. Looks awfully like an impact flash in the SEB.” Chappel released a sharper version of the impact on Thursday, along with a colorized view of the apparent impact. “It expanded from a pinpoint to a small dot before fading away—telltale signs of a possible impact based on previous events observed at Jupiter,” noted King. Looking at the flash, the size of the explosion seems small, but it's important to remember that Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system. The meteor had to have been quite big to produce a flash of such prominence. In this episode we speak with Kfir Damari, COO of Tabookey and Co-Founder of Space IL. Kfir made history by founding a company that is the first private organization to ever reach the moon! It’s a bitter sweet achievement because the official goal was to soft land on the moon, making Israel the fourth nation in the world to do so. But as life (or physics) would have it, Beresheet, the lunar lander that the team built, failed to do so and crashed on the moon at a speed of 1km per second (making Israel the 7th nation to orbit the moon). Failure is a funny word to use in this respect for reasons that are self explanatory. But above all, the high level goal of the mission was to create an effect similar to the Apollo effect that will inspire younger generations to go and study science and technology and to set moonshot goals for themselves. In order to do that Kfir and his team spent years visiting schools across Israel, giving talks to kids, telling them the story of Space IL. As the venture progressed more and more volunteers joined this mission and the educational aspects of the project became the core values of it (and its true success). To date they’ve reached more than a million kids. There’s a lot to be learned from Kfir’s mindset. We asked him what set his heart to go for the project. He said “it was mainly that it was an impossible mission”. He wanted to do something bigger than life. To make an impact. To take an impossible mission and show that it’s possible. We discuss: • How Space IL started • Why it’s so difficult to land on the moon • Persistence - it took Kfir and his team about 24 hours to announce they’re going to try again • The non-material rewards of solving a problem of such magnitude and the motivations for taking on such a challenge • Why founders are like stem cells • The importance of asking a lot of questions and speaking out • Kfir’s current venture Tabookey and its super original value proposition (that can potentially disrupt how companies do business with end users) Much more! The Apollo effect spun-off a host of inventions that permeate the US economy (and probably the global one) to this day. It’s fascinating to see what the Beresheet effect will yield, what the future holds for Space IL’s second stab at the impossible, and what Kfir will do next on his overall mission to make a dent in the universe. We hope you enjoy your listen
When people think of the moon, they often envision it as a cold, static body. However, when the Apollo moon missions landed on the moon’s surface, they were actually able to record seismic activity dubbed “moonquakes.” These findings suggested our cold, dusty neighbor was more geologically active than expected, but it was only recently that scientists were able to link these past seismic recordings to actual fault lines observed by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter since its launch in 2009. This week, Charlie dives into new research about the moon to discuss the interesting science as well as the recent media reports about Jeff Bezos, NASA, and SpaceIL’s intents to return us to the lunar surface.Read the paper, news articles, and support the show at www.paperboyspodcast.com.
In this episode we speak with Yariv Bash, co-founder and CEO of Flytrex, a leading consumer drone company and founder of Space IL - an Israeli non-profit that in December 2018 will launch a spaceship to the moon making Israel the 4th nation to land a spaceship on the moon. Yariv is always in motion, he always has something he’s working on, he’s persistent and an endless optimist (which is probably his superpower). He’s taken on the most ambitious projects with a goal of influencing entire generations and making a dent in the world. He lives to solve problems and he believes he can take on almost anything , especially if it’s a challenge that was solved before. With respect to landing a spaceship on the moon, I asked him, how did you gain that confidence? How did you know? I mean you must have had some doubts.. His answer teaches a lot of his relentless mindset “So, it’s a problem that has been solved on a bigger scale with more funds nonetheless, but still, the first time it was solved was back in the sixties...” I interrupt “yeah, solved by countries” but he doesn’t get confused “you know, the difference between individuals and countries is always shrinking” We learned that one of the keys to success is to believe to the verge of stupidity and despite other people’s skepticism BUT to always validate and have a plan b (and c, and d) “I found myself surrounded by people who don’t think anything can stop them”. What a magnificent state of mind. We know we’re going to work on this attitude. We hope listening to him will help you too. Yariv Bash had a simple idea: taking Israel to the moon, for the first time. To pursue his new dream he quit a luxurious job in the prime ministers office, and founded the NGO SpaceIL. Together with his co-founders, they quickly joined Google's spaceX competition, battling with groups from all around the world to be the first to send a spacecraft to the moon. For many years, spaceIL was leading the competition. But then something unexpected happened. Bash, an enthusiast of extreme sports, had a severe ski accident, which left him on a wheelchair. Yariv Bash joins us today to talk about Israel's race to the Moon, and his journey race to get his old life back.
