Today my second Lit Chick is Kate Sawyer, author of The Stranding and This Family. She is also the host of the podcast Novel Experience, where she talks to authors across forms and genres. In her life before writing, Kate worked as an actor—also as an event and theatre producer, yoga teacher, shop-keeper, and as a waitress. Kate trained in acting at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art and was a founding ensemble member of the award-winning theatre company The Faction. She also had her own production company called The Curious Room. “How many weddings have you gone to where you don't really know very many other people at the wedding? And it's trying to make those connections of who is who. It was something I wanted to recreate for the reader.” Between deciding the guest-list and actually getting everyone together under one roof, wedding days can be… chaotic, to say the least. Beneath the jubilance often lies a web of unresolved family dramas and conflict. The question is, will it bubble up to the surface? Kate Sawyer's new novel ‘This Family' is set over a single summer's day, at the wedding of Mary, whose fractured family has been brought together. The book regularly takes us back in time, revealing information about the cast of characters that have gathered for the big day. In this episode, you will learn: Why you shouldn't place too many restrictions on yourself before you head into writing a novel. Why the most interesting parts of a story are often what lie beneath what you can see. Why you should surround yourself with fellow writers. Find out more about Kate here. Family is everything. No question about it. True, they will get on your nerves like nobody's business. But at the end of the day, it's all love. I WISH that was the theme for today. But, this “Family” is nothing of the sort. This “Family” ruthlessly murdered without remorse or care, all led by a deranged racist who couldn't deal with rejection. What better way to kick off the cult season then by starting with Charles Manson. It's our Halloween special episode for 2022 featuring Pete Van Hal Jr. We start the show off with a classic round of Would You Do This for $200? Then we move on to the Wheel of Shots, and the trick shot for this episode is called The Dumpkin – it was a shot of milk combined with pumpkin guts – and our honored guest volunteered to do it!!! What a champ! Then we move on to the Dirty Urban Dictionary followed by a best and worst costume contest. Following that, we move on to our live chat challenge – and that meant one of us dancing with a pumpkin full of pumpkin guts on our head. Of course, Matty D ended up being the unlucky candidate. We then finish the show off with This Family's Screwed – the TWW version of Family Feud. That and so much more! Episode 38 baby! Featuring Ben Vanderheide as the special guest. We start things off with a classic – The Dirty Urban Dictionary. Can you guess what the dirty urban slang is for these sayings? The Irish stew. Dah Meat Balls. And of course – Waboo Sticky Cheeks! Then it's time to take the Wheel of Shots for a spin. The trick shot for this episode was Baileys mixed with BBQ sauce, and it was thick! Our guest was the one that had to down it and he said it wasn't too bad. After that we move on to This Family is Screwed – the TWW version of Family Feud. Can you name a terrible place to have sex? And what are some things that a wife calls her man? Of yea - did we mention that we added hot sauce, mouse traps, beer chugging and mini crossbows to this game? Watch and see for yourself to find out what the hell we're talking about! Then it's Chat Challenge time. And since our guest Ben is a giant, we thought it appropriate that we have a wrestling match against him. Yea… he ends up choke slamming Matty D and Mr. J as you'd expect. We then finish the show off with a classic round of Would You Do This For $200? Like – would you wear a used jock strap on your face for one hour? Or sumo wrestle with a world champion. And how about letting your partner walk you around the block on a leash? That and so much more! Enjoy.Want more TWW content? Episode 28 featuring Richard Mazepa. We start off with some Ridiculous News Headlines including Back Door Pickles, Hide and Go Wreak, and The Naked Rescue. Can you guess the news stories behind those headlines? Because we sure had a hard time doing so!It's then Wheel of Shots time – and the trick shot in this episode was a new creation we call Muska! It's a mixture of half Vodka and half Mustard – and it tasted even worst than it looked! Mr. J was the sad soul who had to drink it. Following that we move onto This Family's Screwed! (The TWW version of Family Feud). What would your answers be for these questions? What would a day in the life of Matty D would involve? RJ loves rock music and? And lastly – What types of things would you see on a hidden camera in Mr. J's bedroom? It's then chat challenge time – and Ginger had to do a mad dog! If you don't know what a Mad Dog is – basically he had to snort salt, do a Tequila shot, and then squirt lemon juice in his eyes. And he handled it like a champ! We then finish off the show with a round of What's That Sound? Some of these are amazing and it is crazy how creative people can be. That and so much more.Get more Time Well Wasted at: www.twwshow.netTime Well Wasted is so much more than just a podcast! Did we mention one of us had to wear a bag on our head? We then cover a story of a guy with a rare condition who shits from his penis and ejaculates from his anus!Following that we do one of our best challenges yet! Our fans delivered on the likes and this meant Ginger had to try and catch a plethora of flying hot dogs in his mouth! Don't worry, he's used to taking hot dogs in the mouth. In this one we start off with a segment called The Do's and Don'ts - where we discuss things - like should you blow your nose at the dinner table? Should you moan when you are eating food? Is it bad practice to start dancing at a wedding before the Bride and Groom have had their first dance? And of course - is it rude to pick your nose while having a conversation? We then play This Family is Screwed! (The TWW version of Family Feud) - We talk about things you'd expect to get with Mr. J's personality - like bad dad jokes and the whitest dance moves ever. Things you'd find in Timbo Slice's pocket like a banana and a wallet with $1.95 in it. And of course we discuss the things that Ginger would use on his face! Like a weed-wacker and beard oil.We then discuss the inventions of a life time. Like the Ab-hancer, the anti-theft lunch bag, anti-pervert leggings, and of course the boyfriend pillow! This Family is On a Mission! We talk a lot about building wealth through real estate here on the Real Wealth Show. But there are lots of ways of defining wealth. We define Real Wealth at Real Wealth Network as having both the time and the money to live life the way you want to, with the people you want to be with. Our guests today have their own definition of wealth. Suzanne and Joel want to become financially free so that they can do what they loved to do the most -- to support a mission they love and to add value to the lives of others. Their goal is to have 10 properties by 2023, and they are well on their way. If you DESIRE to have income producing real estate, do your due diligence with FAITH, and take ACTION. www.RealWealthShow.com
