In this conversation, Kelsey Hogan and Adam Fearnall share their running stories and their love for trail running. Kelsey who is ranked third in the World Trail Majors shares her experience at the Quebec Mega Trail (QMT) 100-mile race. A course she knows well by setting a course record in 2023. Rachel Drake, 32, resides in Portland, Oregon. She is a new Mom to Lewis, partner to ultrarunner Tyler Green, and has her PhD in medical sciences.  She was the first woman across the line in this years Black Canyon 100K, where she earned ultrarunning's most sought after Golden Ticket to Western States.  Rachel started 2024 off with a win at the Hong Kong 33K, the first World Trail Majors race of the year.  And now with her win at Black Canyon, she will be toeing the line at North America's most illustrious race.   We touch on the issues facing many female athletes post-partum and how important it is to share and learn from each other.   Here is Rachel... Before we even get into it the race, we touched on the World Trail Majors that had been announced one day before this recording and when opportunity presents itself, well, you ask. So that's what we did. In today's show we are focusing on the Black Canyon 100k. The race takes place in February, in Arizona, and is a point to point race along the Black Canyon Trail. The trail is a mix of single track, jeep roads and parts of it are along an old stagecoach route. The race has more elevation loss than gain, with an elevation gain of 5190 feet and loss of 7050 feet over the 100k. Runners have 20 hours to finish, and if you want to make it your Western States qualifier, you have to get it done in under 17. Sono accadute due cose, durante l'ultimo mese, destinate in qualche modo ad influenzare come le persone faranno trail da qui ad alcuni anni, in misure diverse e di cui per ora non possiamo conoscere esattamente l'entità. Una parte della nostra comunità ha reagito a queste diverse notizie in maniera in un certo senso simile: parlandone. Altri le hanno apprese ma apparentemente non hanno avuto reazioni, altri ancora di questi avvenimenti non sono a conoscenza, come è normale che sia. Mi è sembrato di percepire da parte di un certo gruppo di persone un desiderio, una fame di argomenti di cui discutere, di temi trasversali che non siano per forza i risultati delle gare o le shoe review, che possano semplicemente darci un motivo per confrontarci e parlare. La cosa che forse ci manca è un luogo dove poterlo fare. La community, in senso lato, non ha un substrato ben preciso su cui svilupparsi. Forse non ha nemmeno la massa critica necessaria per raggiungere numeri tali da invogliare un sufficiente numero di persone a parlare di un certo tema. Forse non ha nemmeno interesse a farlo. Sono tutte domande aperte a cui questo episodio cercherà di dare delle risposte, anch'esse aperte e per nulla esaustive.
