”Grönt stål” eller fossilfritt stål som det kanske ska kallas - snacka om klimatpåverkan! Hela världen har nu ett allt starkare fokus på klimatanpassning och åtgärder för att minska utsläppen som bidrar till växthuseffekten. För att nå globala klimatmål krävs omfattande insatser inom många sektorer, och en av de största utmaningarna är stålindustrin. Globalt står stålindustrin för 7–9 % av de totala koldioxidutsläppen, och i Sverige är andelen så hög som 10 %. Att omvandla denna industri till en mer hållbar och fossilfri produktion är därför avgörande för att minska utsläppen och begränsa den globala uppvärmningen.  Det krävs innovativa lösningar och stora investeringar för att uppnå en grön omställning, men potentialen för att göra en betydande miljömässig påverkan är enorm.  Idag ska vi i Retail & Fastighetspodden utforska vad "grönt stål" eller fossilfritt stål egentligen innebär, varför det är en avgörande faktor för att skapa en hållbar fastighetssektor, och hur svenska företag, med hjälp av fossilfri energi, leder vägen i denna omvandling.   I studion har vi glädjen att välkomna Christina Båge Friborg, Executive Vice President och Head of Sustainability på SSAB. Hun har hyperemesis og to voldsomme fødsler i bagagen, og hun skal føde ved kejsersnit, fordi der blev revet et hul i hendes moderkage under første fødsel. Christina bliver holdt øje med, men fra uge 27 er hun ind og ud ad hospitalet med blødninger og hele familien bliver indlagt på en familiestue resten af graviditeten. En nat i uge 32 vågner Christina og bløder. Hun bliver kørt direkte på operationsstuen, og efter 3 timers operation, 8 liter mistet blod og en fjernet livmoder, vågner Christina og møder sin lille datter. Asta er i god behold, men skal bruge de første 1,5 måned af sit liv på neonatal før familien bliver samlet derhjemme i ro og mag. Jordemoder Camilla Brinch er med til at besvare spørgsmål.

Största delen av kommundirektörerna, 82 procent, är nöjda med sitt jobb. “Man rennt nicht immer nur um sein Leben - die Gründe für Flucht sind vielfältig”, sagte die Journalistin Özge Inan bei der Veranstaltung “Ohne Handy durch die Sahara” am 19. März im Berliner Holzmarkt. Auf der von Ärzte ohne Grenzen organisierten Veranstaltung sprachen die Migrationsexpertin Marie von Manteuffel und die Moderatorin Anna Dushime mit Inan über die Schicksale von Migrant:innen und Menschen auf der Flucht. Die Veranstaltung beleuchtete vor allem die gefährliche Route durch die Sahara, die Situation in libyschen Internierungslagern sowie den Einfluss europäischer Interessen auf die Grenzpolitik afrikanischer Länder. Die Folge 43 des Podcasts "Notaufnahme" liefert einen ausgewählten Mitschnitt des Events. Auf der Veranstaltung berichtete auch der Projektkoordinator von Ärzte ohne Grenzen, Romuald Kaleu, über die schwierige Lage von Migrant:innen, die aus Algerien in die Wüste zurückgedrängt werden: „Die Menschen werden etwa 15 Kilometer von der nächsten Stadt entfernt ausgesetzt. Sie müssen zu Fuß gehen, ohne Wasser, Essen oder Schatten.“ Unterwegs sind sie verschiedenen Formen von Missbrauch ausgesetzt. Die Teams von Ärzte ohne Grenzen behandeln unter anderem Opfer von sexualisierter Gewalt und Folter. „Die Menschen haben keine Handys und kein Geld mehr. Selbst Schuhe und Kleidung wurden ihnen weggenommen“, sagt Kaleu. Sobald Ärzte ohne Grenzen von einer Abschiebung erfährt, organisiert die Hilfsorganisation eine Such- und Rettungsaktion und bietet Menschen medizinische Hilfe an. Wie erleben Migrant:innen den Wechsel zwischen Ländern, Sprachen und Kulturen? Und wie spiegeln sich diese Erfahrungen in der Literatur wider? Mit diesen Fragen beschäftigt sich Christina Bäck. Die Literaturwissenschafterin erhielt – ex aequo mit Marco Jandl – den ersten Preis für die beste Masterarbeit des Jahres 2022, den die Geisteswissenschaftliche Fakultät seit zwei Jahren vergibt. In ihrer Abschlussarbeit „Erinnerungskulturen innerhalb der italophonen Migrationsliteratur“ widmet sie sich zwei Autorinnen, die Migrationserfahrungen in Kurzgeschichten und Romanen verarbeitet haben. Igiaba Scego (*1974) und Shirin Ramzanali Fazel (*1953) sind italienische Autorinnen mit somalischen Wurzeln, die unterschiedliche Perspektiven auf ihre Migration bzw. jene ihre Eltern werfen. Mit welchen Mitteln diese Aufarbeitung stattfindet und was individuelle sowie kollektive Erinnerungen prägt, das berichtet Christina Bäck in ihrer Arbeit, die Ende November auch im Uni-Verlag erscheinen wird. Christina nennt sich sympathischerweise die “Daten-Tante”, sie ist nämlich seit 2018 schon bei V&B, hat die Entwicklung der Datenstrategie mitbetreut und kümmert sich nun um die operative Umsetzung dieser. Villeroy & Boch bietet nicht nur Dining & Lifestyle-Produkte an, sondern hat auch den Bad- und Wellness-Bereich ausgebaut, weswegen der Fokus auf dem Verständnis der Kund:innen als Ganzes liegt. Zunächst diskutieren Christina und Jonas darüber, ob man im Data-Bereich überhaupt ein Studium braucht. Christina hat nämlich sogar eine Promotion in Mathematik hinter sich gebracht und findet, dass die Hartnäckigkeit sowie das thematische Denken, das man im Studium lernt, bei der Arbeit mit Daten sehr hilfreich sein können. Das große Thema des Podcasts ist die Datenstrategie. Vor dieser gab es bei Villeroy & Boch nämlich eine CRM-Strategie, wodurch im CRM sowie daneben auch in anderen Bereichen einige low-hanging-fruits schon geerntet werden konnten. Allerdings war für Christina klar: Wenn die Leiter nicht gebaut ist, dann können die Früchte oben auf dem Baum nicht geerntet werden. Es wurden Leuchtturmprojekte entwickelt, von denen Christina ausgiebig erzählt, der Wechsel von On-Premise zur Cloud durchgeführt und die Kolleg:innen nach und nach begleitet. Denn für sie ist besonders wichtig, dass diese nach und nach „ohne Stützräder“ fahren können und selbstständig Daten für sich nutzen können. As a high school student at the Bronx High School of Science, Dr. Christina B. Gee remembers being focused primarily on math and science because they didn't offer any psychology classes. She recalls that her interest in psychology only came after she started college at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. In this podcast interview, Dr. Christina B. Gee shares her academic and professional journey by discussing the fortunate events that led her to become aware of, and interested in, the field of psychology. In addition to discussing how she searched for psychology graduate programs in Illinois, and why she chose the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for her master's and PhD in clinical/community psychology, Dr. Gee also shares the significant experiences and people that helped shape her life and the direction of her research. Throughout our discussion, Dr. Gee offers her thoughts, experiences, and advice regarding topics important to graduate students including finding the right internship and things to consider when searching for an internship, research and lab experience and how to find these opportunities, and how to decide if you are truly interested in research before applying to PhD programs. She also offers advice to those who are not sure what psychology career path to take (e.g., academic path or practitioner path). During her last year at Cornell, Dr. Gee realized that she wanted to attend graduate school and she also realized that she didn't have any research experience, so she began volunteering in a developmental psychology lab. She wanted to get more experience to be competitive for graduate school so she began cold emailing many different professors in New York, mostly NYU, to see if she could volunteer or work in their labs. She recalls that most of them never returned her emails, fortunately she got lucky and one of them did reply to her email. Professor Mary O'Brien, who was in the clinical psychology program, focused on the influence of marital conflict on child adjustment. Dr. Gee states “it was just very lucky for me that I got linked up with this lab and that really shaped the direction of my research for years to come.” Dr. Gee is now the Principal Investigator of a research laboratory at GW called the Diverse Family Relationships Lab where they work on a lot of different types of projects. The Lab “is interested in relationship process and adjustment for couples, parents, and families who are diverse in terms of race, ethnicity, culture, and socio-economic status.” Some of the research studies the group has already completed include an Asian American Help-Seeking Study and Young Parents Study. They are currently working on the Unified Parenting Project which is “a study of coparenting processes in non-cohabiting parents. This study is also piloting the Coparenting Check-up, which is a free two-session assessment of how parents work together to support each other in raising their child.” As an Associate Professor in the Clinical/Community Psychology program in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at The George Washington University, she explains why students should consider attending their program if they “really want to attend a clinical program that doesn't just give lip service to diversity” because “diversity is really infused into all aspects of our program.” One thing that you may not know about Dr. Christina B. Gee is that she grew up in a restaurant family. Her father worked in the restaurant industry from the time he was a teenager until his late 40's. In fact, both her mom and dad are really great cooks. Because of this, she really loves to cook and admits “I probably spend about 50% of my free time thinking about food, planning to cook, or actually cooking.” She says, “our vacations are typically planned around finding the best foods, and it's really a plus that our sons are foodies as well.” Connect with Christina B.
