It's a party at Aprilia and occasion for some very cross glares over at Ducati this Sunday at Mugello. Good race? You bet! So let's go over to Italy, and see what caught the eye of our hosts Mat and......wait, I'm getting word that Peter is still on a secret mission somewhere? Oh dear. Have we got anyone else on the ground, then? Nope, nobody but Mat and his incredible social skills! So there he goes, conjuring up a co-host out of thin air for this weekend! Give it up for Cory West, American rider representing Saddlemen Racing in the Bagger World Cup. He's very charming, funny and isn't afraid to walk around the entire track with Mat while carrying a silly microphone. And let me tell you, the man knows his history. Thanks Cory! Okay, we'll be back to our regular broadcasts next week, but until then enjoy this very special episode from Mugello. Cheers! ---Want more? Visit our website or support us on Patreon. In early 2009, Paolo Poma found himself navigating what he recalls as a “really tough” period. At the time, he was helping steer Ducati through a leveraged buyout negotiated before the collapse of Lehman Brothers. Debt obligations had arrived just as markets were “plummeting,” Poma tells us, while lenders closely monitored covenant compliance and private equity owners pressed ahead with the deal.Poma remembers sitting with bankers and shareholders through repeated discussions about liquidity, budgets, and cash generation. “Planning cash was crucial because covenants on cash were really tight,” he tells us. The experience forced him to balance operational performance with financial discipline while uncertainty spread across global markets. Ducati ultimately avoided breaking its covenants, Poma tells us, and the period became one of the defining stretches of his finance career. The challenge also reinforced the leadership style that would later shape his tenure at Lamborghini. Trained originally as an engineer, Poma tells us he built his finance career by combining analytical rigor with business understanding. He later expanded his responsibilities from controlling to investor relations, treasury, and accounting before formally becoming CFO in 2011.Today, that long-view mindset influences how he approaches Lamborghini's growth. The company grew from roughly €200 million in revenue to nearly €2.4 billion over the last decade, Poma tells us, while maintaining a focus on profitability, product discipline, and sustainable expansion.
Find me on Substack: https://bogumilbaranowski.substack.com/In this monthly Unfiltered Coffee check-in, I start with a lesson I keep learning from wealthy people — live your life now, don't wait. I share a personal story about buying and riding a red Ducati, and the unexpected memories it created. Sometimes the best investments we make aren't financial at all.I answer listener questions, recommend where new listeners can start, and highlight standout recent and upcoming episodes — conversations on historical financial advice, intangible assets, surrounding yourself with good people, microcaps, Berkshire and Buffett, family advising, trading psychology, and execution.I talk about how I research and track many stocks, and why research itself is a form of motion. Small adjustments beat freezing every time. I share my productivity system — notes, scheduling, a weekly “improve or eliminate” review, and the power of an “undo button” when things don't work.We get into outdated money beliefs and why so many people don't feel wealthy even when they are. Money as freedom. Money as peace of mind. The difference between waiting for permission and finding the courage to act.I reflect on what I'm learning from studying Li Lu, on staying patient in markets that feel expensive, and on why advisory fees are really an investment in trust and service. We close with thoughts on outsourcing versus doing it yourself, a “forgotten money” exercise that might surprise you, and what it means to keep and pass on wealth with intention.Podcast Program – Disclosure StatementBlue Infinitas Capital, LLC is a registered investment adviser and the opinions expressed by the Firm's employees and podcast guests on this show are their own and do not reflect the opinions of Blue Infinitas Capital, LLC. Hello and welcome again to the Motos and Friends Podcast. This episode is brought to you by Leod Escapes. My name is Arthur Coldwells. * * * * * Have you ever wanted to ride a real MotoGP track? Well, here's your chance! Leod Escapes does all sorts of amazing European tours, including the incredible Munich to Mugello tour at the end of June, or you can try the Core of Catalunya or the Portimão Andalusia trips, both in October. These are incredible touring experiences with the very best that Europe has to offer, as well as riding these amazing tracks on brand new BMW S1000RRs. So for the trip of a lifetime, visit LeodEscapes.com, now! * * * * * In our first segment, Nic de Sena tells us all about his recent trip to Spain to ride the new 2027 Suzuki GSX-R1000R. Suzuki did a slightly different spin on this particular launch where they split the journalists into teams of 3, and had a 6-hour endurance ‘race' to see how well everyone fared. Nic gives us the lowdown on what it's like to the new Gixxer and for such long track sessions! Rider Market from just outside Orlando, Florida, is the winner of the recent Royal Enfield BTR Build-Off competition in the Road Race category. Brian Koster is the Parts Director at Rider Market and he tells us briefly about the machine and parts he selected that made this retro-looking Royal Enfield stand out and take the trophy. Our guest for this episode is Brian Bentley. A few years ago, just prior to Covid, Brian had a chance to buy a Ducati 916. He's always been a major fan of the bike ever since it launched in the early nineties. He'd actually been looking for a 748 for a while, but when this great example came to his attention he couldn't resist. The only snag was that it was completely disassembled. So, Brian did what any reasonable bike-fanatic would do: he loaded all the endless boxes of parts into the trunk of his SUV, headed home to Daytona Beach, and started the build. Brian recounts the story of this incredible machine and what eventually happened to it in the end. * * * * * Here's quick reminder to check out our monthly digital magazine. It's filled with everything you want to read on motorcycling, including some things you've probably not seen elsewhere. It's absolutely free and you will find it on the Apple App Store and of course on Google Play as well.
The racing was actually exciting in Catalunya - but a pair of REALLY scary wrecks brought rider safety into the spotlight. Can we please fix the tire-pressure rule?- The Championship picture - or the story of lost opportunities, with a new Ducati challenger- My take on the absolutely mental CatalanGP!What did you think of Catalunya? Dre Harrison, Peter McLaren and Lewis Duncan come together to review a harrowing Catalan GP weekend. The weekend was marred by two huge crashes on Sunday. Pedro Acosta's KTM cutting out on the back straight leading to Alex Marquez riding into him at full speed, breaking his collarbone and sending him to hospital. This before a restarted race led to Johann Zarco heading to hospital with torn ligaments in his knee after being hooked on Pecco Bagnaia's Ducati. The race was won by Fabio di Giannantonio at the third time of asking. Many questions are asked, such as whether KTM should have been allowed to continue, must the show always go on for MotoGP? Does Barcelona need resurfacing and yet more safety changes? And does MotoGP need a riders union to unify their voice? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Lewis Duncan, Pete McLaren and Dre Harrison review MotoGP's 2026 French GP.It was another historic day for Aprilia as they captured their first ever victory at Le Mans, their first ever 1-2-3 podium lockout, and for the first time in 18 months, Jorge Martin is a Grand Prix winner again. Is this a major flashpoint in the Championship? And what does it mean for team chemistry, especially with Ai Ogura also contending for the win for the first time?It was also another horror weekend for Ducati, with Marc Marquez having a huge crash in the Sprint, breaking a metatarsal in his foot that put him out of the Grand Prix and the Catalonia GP next week. Is it the end of his Championship defence?A potential Fabio di Giannantonio move to KTM is also discussed, as well as a strong Fabio Quartararo home weekend and whether it gives Yamaha a boost. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Si può averamente dire che 'black is the new red'.Ne parlano - animatamente - Paolo, Carlettro e Marco.
Oh dear, what a weekend! For want of a screw, the race was lost. Or, maybe I should say: for want of a proper screw. Yes, I'm talking about Marc Marquez, him having a screw loose leading to a rather painful absence for the man who'd absolutely shattered the lap record at Les Mans on Saturday. And it's bad news for Ducati, too, as Alex took a tumble within the first rounds today and left the door wide open for Aprilia to, once again, establish dominance. It looks like the greatest contest this year will be an in-house affair for the Bezz and his teammate Martin. Yes, it's the Axe Murderer versus the Mad Philosopher. Here's to many more battles to come! So yeah: bad news for Ducati. But maybe not as bad as you'd think. Why? Well, I could tell you that but I won't. Not because I don't like you, dear reader, but because we've got Mat and Peter ready to talk about it. So let's just wrap this up and hit play, alright?Cheers! ---Want more?

Ducati's dominance of the Dutch Round of WorldSBK was completed by a 1-2-3-4-5-6 finish in Race 2. It was a stunning performance by the red bikes and on this week's pod we break down what we saw at TT Circuit Assen. On this week's show Steve and Gordo are joined by David Emmett who gives his insight of what he saw, what he liked and what he thought of the WorldSBK paddock. Having seen him for years in the MotoGP paddock David was interested to see the relaxed and motivated Miguel Oliveira aboard the BMW M1000RR. The rookie has had an up and down campaign at the quarter post but has shown some flashes of potential.

This week on the Lowdown Radio Show managing editor Zac Kurylyk chews the fat with Neil Graham about the ritual of the first spring ride. For Zac, it's often a miserable ride in gruesome weather, while Neil focused on his travails with gusty winds and frigid girlfriends. Rarely did the trips—or relationships—go well, though both confess that early season jaunts were not without merit, proving the old dictum correct: Why did the man beat his head against the wall? Because it felt so good when he stopped. Then Zac recounts a harrowing tale of attempting to fix the heated grips on his WR250 and Neil looks forlornly to the heavens and asks why, despite having cleaned the carburetors on his Ducati, it remains a cantankerous cold starter. All this, and Zac's mindset in anticipating his first ride after a serious crash late last season. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Miguel Oliveira was the man of the moment in Portimao. The home crowd came out in force with a packed paddock there to greet the Portuguese star's every turn. The BMW man delivered on track with a hat-trick of podiums. For Steve and Gordo there was no other place to start than with his performance. Nicolo Bulega continues to dominate WorldSBK with his perfect record maintained from pole position. His teammate, Iker Lecuona, impressed this weekend with a solid trio of runner-up finishes. The Spanish rider said afterwards that he "was doing my job" to complete a perfect weekend for the Aruba.it Ducati squad. There were plenty of other stories to follow inside the paddock from the Superbike class with Yamaha, Honda and bimota but with the brand new Sportbike class starting, a Chinese manufacturer winning for the first time in Supersport and the WorldWCR kicking off their campaign we'll be back on Patreon to cover the support classes. Merrick Watts comes in to celebrate Nova's 25th birthday as one of the original breakfast hosts and immediately starts throwing hand grenades. His standout memory from the early days: being told he wasn't allowed to ride the station scooter, so he went downstairs, got his 1000cc Ducati, brought it up in the lift and rode it full pelt down the corridor tearing up the carpet at 7:30 in the morning. He also reveals there is a scroll sealed inside the studio wall with the names of every on-air host from day one. His name is in there. He is not allowed back in the building.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
During the week, he's an unassuming MotoGP-rider. But when the weekend comes around and Sunday's knocking, he changes into...Super Sunday Boy! This week, will our superhero have a mighty collision before parking his bike all the way at the front? Yes, he can! And speaking of the front, something we didn't find there was Ducati. Forget about that beautiful uninterrupted streak of victories last year - this season, they're being passed left and right in the same corner. So what is going on here? We've watched and understood it all, in a way we very much can't say about the Baggers! Oh, and on another note, remember we talked about sponsors during the Q&A-episode? Well, we got a lot of responses from you all...and something might be brewing!Cheers!- - -Want more? Visit our website or support us on Patreon. Well that was...something. MotoGP Season 2026 is nothing if not interesting as Aprilia emerge as the Ducati of this season and Ducati...well, they have their own problems. The track was short, crumbling and in the lead up was flooded but somehow the greatest sport in the world managed to put on an enthralling show. And what does this tell us about what to expect for the rest of the season? Not much yet but it's been a hell of a first chapter. The boys break all that down plus there's all your favourite spots...Freido's Horoscope, Borrie's poem and an update from Dear George about what really happened between Mr Five Times and Batmav. It's all good times for Aprilia. Their hardware is proving top-notch at the track, and even after one race they've already got some spectacular results in the pocket. In fact, if the world ends tomorrow they'd technically be world champions! But what are the chances of that happening? In completely unrelated news, are we still doing that Qatar GP or are we canceling it due to a chance of missiles? And speaking of apocalyptic disasters, we should probably peak over at Ducati and see how they're doing. The numbers don't look great, but there is always more to the story - so we're going to start digging, and we're going to keep digging even if that means we have to engage in some small, reverent grave-robbing over in Bolognia so we might solve the secrets of the desmo...Oh, and we're also hitting on vortex generators (sounds a bit sci-fi!), dragon's teeth (sounds a bit fantasy!) and potential top speeds (sounds VERY MotoGP!).Cheers! Is there any better for a race than Phillip Island? Well, given all the news at the weekend Steve and Gordo report from on the ground with the thoughts of the locals, the staff and the paddock on the bombshell news that MotoGP will move to Adelaide. Will WorldSBK follow? It certainly seems that way. On track, Nicolo Bulega was imperious as he starts his quest for global domination. The Aruba.it Ducati star man is a little more likeable than a bond villain and a hell of a rider. We break down his weekend which featured an incredible, almost unnecessarily, dominant performance in the wet conditions of Sunday. There are plenty of stories to follow this weekend. The first double podium for bimota since 1988 has confirmed the resurgence of Axel Bassani. His Sunday double will have given him a huge boast in confidence that this season he can be a closer challenger to his teammate, Alex Lowes. Lowes was one of the fallers in the wet conditions in Race 2 and we look at what caused many of the falls. The rise and fall of Independent Ducati's is set to be a big story this year. Steve said in our preview show that "on your good days you've got to take advantage of the package." Lorenzo Baldassarri certainly did that. The Italian, who refuses to acknowledge his season aboard a GMT94 Yamaha as a Superbike campaign, impressed the paddock this week. In testing he was quick but to withstand the pressure from Bassani in the closing stages of Race 1 was rewarded with his first career podium finish. Yari Montella had his first career front row and podium too. At BMW are the reigning World Champions in a tailspin? It depends on who you ask. That being said the two-day Portimao Test on March 9-10 will be critical for them. It was a weekend of highs and lows Miguel Oliveira. The rookie had everything thrown at him over the weekend. A superpole crash that relegated him to the back of the field was followed by two superb recovery rides in both conditions to leave him one point ahead of his teammate, Danilo Petrucci, in the standings. The performance gap between them seemed much higher this week. Yamaha's Xavi Vierge was the fastest man in blue this week but came away with zero points after a big crash in Race 1. Andrea Locatelli looked lost for most of the opening round but in wet conditions he found some confidence and came away fifth position. Thanks to Renthal Street for supporting the podcast.
