Today we are talking about “How to See Ourselves as God Sees Us" and the AMAZING impact it can have on us when we do so!It's incredibly important for us to know, remember and live by our true identity in Christ.  In fact, there are many verses in the Bible that help us see ourselves as God sees us.  Not only are we chosen by God, but we are His children who belong to him.  We are loved by him, so much so, that nothing can separate us from His love.  We are forgiven, cleansed, and in Christ, there is no condemnation against us.  We are strengthened and equipped to do all that God has called us to do.  So much so, that He gives us his Holy Spirit, living inside each one of us, to help us.  We ultimately have peace, because we have hope in Christ and we live with His promise that he will never leave us or forsake us.Our guest today, Trish Blackwell, the host of The Confidence Podcast and author of the book Straighten Your Crown: Rediscovering That You are Seen, You Matter, and the King Delights in You will be expanding our understanding of how to see yourself as God sees you. We want to help you find that joy, that light, that zest for life again." Shelley adds, "We've all been through a tough season these last 18 months. I don't know anyone who is saying, ‘You know what? I'm doing fabulous!' Where are we going to find that new start and fresh strength?” Brenda explains, "Joy is our birthright, it comes from God. Nehemiah 8:10 “the joy of the Lord” does give us strength. Guess what? It also strengthens the people around us too. Shelley and I strengthen each other with joy, right Shelley? Shelley laughs, “Daily! I always knew that joy felt good, but I didn't realize the POWER there is in that verse. When we plug into God, we know He's going to work good in all things. God always has bigger dreams for us than we have for ourselves.” Inspiring author, Bible teacher and pilgrim JL Gerhardt (“Look to Love” Episode 60) adds, “It's what God brings. When you're close to God, joy is close." What are some blocks to God's joy? Well-loved author podcaster Heather MacFadyen and “ recovering angry mom to four boys” (“Don't Mom Alone” Episode 62) reveals, “My word for this year is 'strength.' When I was doing my inner healing prayer journey I didn't realize there was a spirit of weakness oppressing me. When we asked the spirit why it was there, it replied, ‘I was never asked to leave.' I said ‘go!' It was hiding the gifts that God gave me because of a spirit of weakness." Brenda states, “It think of the verse Zechariah 4:6 'Not by might, nor by power. but by my Spirit.' If He's in you, than joy is in you. Joy is a trait of our Heavenly Father. We're not joyful because of our circumstances; joy is something bubbling up inside of us because of who God is.” Dynamic author, podcaster and coach Trish Blackwell's (“Straighten Your Crown” Episode 55) favorite life verse is Isaiah 55:12. “You will live in peace and joy and peace and the mountains and hills will burst into song and the trees in the field will clap their hands. I feel like I am in the 'Sound of Music!' That is my daily premise: I will live in joy and peace. I was little girl who struggled with insecurity, anorexia and anxiety, the opposite of peace. I was all about performance. I think, joy and peace? That's me!" Tune into Morning Cup of Faith's Holiday Joy Mashup" and raise your joy meter. Happy Thanksgiving!

She is a confidence coach to Olympic athletes, Ironman champions, CEOs, high-achieving entrepreneurs, and cultural influencers. Trish is an author, wife, mom, surfer, snowboarder, runner, and Ironman triathlete. She is also the host of The Confidence Podcast, a top-rated podcast for self-improvement. She has been featured by TLC, Entrepreneur, and Elite Daily as one of the top confidence coaches in the world. She specializes in helping high achievers think with more power, clarity, and belief. In this episode… Having self-doubt is part of being human, and failing to embrace this is the reason why many people suffer from imposter syndrome. Overthinking causes these feelings which, in the long term, drive people to perfectionism — and this can take a toll on their happiness. Overthinking amplifies your self-doubt and makes it louder than your beliefs, and you end up sidelining yourself and losing your self-confidence. As a confidence coach, Trish Blackwell gets to work with many women who struggle with their confidence. She helps them see that their value lies in who they are and not what they do. She advises them to be brave and avoid trying to be perfect. Trish also believes in the power of embracing failure, disappointments, and being vulnerable. We kick off our fall series Nehemiah 8:10 “The Joy of the Lord is Your Strength” with effervescent author, coach and podcaster Trish Blackwell who talks about her new book “How to Straighten Your Crown: Rediscovering that You are Seen, You Matter and the King Delights in You” coming out September 10th. Trish shares, “You are loved. You are seen. You are a child of the King. And that changes everything." Trish is a wife, mom, runner, snowboarder, Ironman Triathlete, and a Jesus Follower. She's passionate about showing women how to walk with worthiness like a confident daughter of the King. You'll learn how to live more joyfully as royalty as a daughter of God and awaken to Trish's concept of “delight” and how it gets us to the crown. Trish explains, “In my head, I knew I was a daughter of God, but I didn't know it in my heart. I knew that He loved me, but delight? Now that's a generous word. The depth of intimacy that God wants from us is incredible. There are sisters who are sleeping. They need boldness so they can remember that they're not too far gone to have lost their deep connection as His child." Trish hosts “The Confidence Podcast” that helps women get freedom from self-doubt, achieve more and ooze confidence. Learning to have God as our foundation for self-confidence can be as basic as retraining our mind and taking our thoughts captive, daily. Trish challenges us to take our most pervasive thought and ask, “what is the thought I'm thinking? Is it the truth? Would God want me to think this? Just as we have physical, oral and spiritual hygiene, we also need “confidence hygiene." Trish's favorite life verse is Isaiah 55:12. Trish laughs, “I look at it as a premise. ‘You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace. The mountains and the hills will burst into song before you and the trees in the field will clap their hands.' I feel like I'm in the 'Sound of Music. For a little girl who lived with insecurity, anorexia, anxiety, this is now my daily verse. Joy and peace? That's me!”

Steve Pavlina also talks about how he offers a high ticket annual membership that only launches for five days a year.  How season 4 reinforced the message that memberships give owners the freedom and flexibility to live life on their own terms. Whether it's accommodating health issues like in the case of Marisha Mets, building a location independent business enabling family travel like in the case of Trish Blackwell... Or using your membership to reach big goals and eventually give back to underprivileged communities like John Michaloudis.  How running memberships can lead to positive change. Warwick Brown explains how leaving his corporate role and launching his membership has led to a happier, more energized life and Warren Mcpherson shares how he reduced his income streams and took ownership of his time so he can spend more of it with his young family.     Links and Mentions:  https://www.themembershipguys.com/behind-the-membership/ (Behind The Membership podcast ) https://www.themembershipguys.com/caryn-liles/ (Launching Quickly in a Global Crisis with Caryn Liles) https://www.themembershipguys.com/katie-wardrobe/ (Double your member base during a pandemic with Katie Wardrobe)  https://www.themembershipguys.com/carole-copeland-thomas/ (Facilitating Change Through Difficult Conversations with Carole Copeland Thomas) https://www.themembershipguys.com/pamela-mitchell/ (Creating a High Level Coaching Membership with Coach Pamela Mitchell) https://www.themembershipguys.com/felicia-lo/ (Adding a Membership to a Successful Manufacturing Business with Felicia Lo) https://www.themembershipguys.com/steve-pavlina/ (Aligning Your Members to Your Vision with Steve Pavlina) https://www.themembershipguys.com/marisha-mets/ (Creating a Custom Web App for Your Members with Marisha Mets) https://www.themembershipguys.com/trish-blackwell/ (Fighting Through a Crisis of Confidence with Trish Blackwell) https://www.themembershipguys.com/warwick-brown/ (Staying Consistent as a One-Man Band with Warwick Brown) https://www.themembershipguys.com/john-michaloudis/ (Setting Ambitious Goals for Your Membership with John Michaloudis) https://www.themembershipguys.com/warren-mcpherson/ (More Time, More Freedom, More Income with Warren Mcpherson) Key Quotes:  “Memberships are game changers at the best of times, but in 2020 they proved that even more.” “Everything is possible with a...

Happy New Year! It is time to say “Goodbye” to 2020 and “Hello” to 2021. Most of us are thinking “Good riddance 2020!” Don’t let the door hit you on your way out”. And “Welcome 2021. We thought you would never get here”. All of our lives were changed in 2020 and we had to adjust our routines to work with the new normal. Now is a good time to sit back and reflect on what worked and what didn’t. As part of my business plan, I listen to Pat Flynn who writes a blog called Smart Passive Income. He recommends that we write down a list of what is working within our business and what is not. Keep the processes that are going well. Fire the processes that are not. https://www.smartpassiveincome.com/ I believe we should be doing exact same thing in the health and fitness world! What is working well for you? What is not working? We need to really assess the actions that feel good, produce great results or sit well with our soul and embrace them, keeping them in our daily lives. The flip side of this coin would be to look at those things that constantly feel hard to maintain or throw up barriers. Rather than throw them out, I suggest that you continually assess, and adjust those hard things to make them work for you, instead of against you. If you want anything to change in 2021 you need to be intentional and plan for it. Remember, we cannot control what happens to us and around us in the world. What we do have some control over are things in our own homes and within our own bodies. If lack of control was driving you crazy in 2020 you can gain back some of that feeling of control by adjusting your own behaviors. Exercise:Divide a piece of paper into 2 columns and label them “Working” and “Not Working”. Think about things that you have been doing to help reach or maintain your goals. Place them in the appropriate column. Start with food, exercise and health measures but don’t stop there. Let your columns trickle over into relationships, career, household or any other areas you are working on. There are no rules and no right or wrong items. Just start brainstorming. Don’t stick to your areas of comfort, think outside the box. Example:Working: Wake up early every day. It sets up my whole day.Drink hot water instead of coffee some mornings. I don’t always need caffeine.Writing down meal ideas before grocery shopping. Going into the week with a game plan feels good.Schedule a date night with my husband every week. It helps our relationship and keeps our life flowing.Walk and talk dates with friends. My dog gets a walk and I get friend time. Not Working:Waiting until night to workout. Something always gets in the way.Scheduling anything in the evenings. It always feels harder to make it happenKeeping my house clean. It is too much to do all in one day.Keeping a consistent chore schedule for my kids. It ebbs and flows depending on the season. Continue doing the things that are working for you. Make a plan and schedule those things in. Assess the things that aren’t working and figure out how you can tweak them, change them or even throw them out completely knowing that they will never work for you. Use your energy on the things that produce results. Word of the year.Have you come up with your word of the year for 2021? Rather than making resolutions choose a word that has meaning and speaks directly to you, reminding you what you are fighting for. I’m loving the words that have come in from my clients and friends! if you enjoy listening to my podcast and leave me a review, I would love to put your word on a bracelet and send it in the mail to you! Email me through my contact page on www.healthaccountabilitycoach.com to tell me your word of the year and your address… I would be so thrilled to provide that visual, token of inspiration that will help remind you what you are fighting for in 2021!! To start your year out right on your journey to be healthy and fit, here are some resources I am confident to recommend. I have interviewed each of them and the corresponding podcast is listed with each one. 1. Eliza Kingsford, psychotherapist - She has a program called “The Shift” … Is it time to tackle more of the mental side of our health habits?! I interviewed her in episode 101 if you would like an informal introduction to her awesomeness.2. Trish Blackwell, Confidence Coach – if the thought of a confidence coach intrigues you, it might be because this is something you are seeking! Trish has a group you can join called the “College of Confidence”, as well as individual coaching sessions. Check out episode 84: Forward is a Pace with Trish Blackwell.3. Dr. Tamsin Astor- author of the Force of Habit. Dr Astor talks about how if we can change our habits we can change our life. She runs programs and private groups within Facebook. Her accent alone is inviting, and her professional wisdom is cutting edge. You can check her out in episode 79.4. Amita Ghosh, Clinical Psychologist -– She does virtual consults in her private practice, I used to work with her professionally. I feel confident with this recommendation. Episode 77.5. Lynda Ratliff – A personal trainer who trains both virtually and in person. I have spoken at one of her retreats and I continue to sing her praises… if you want a trainer to show up in your home virtually, she would be a great reach out! Episode 78. This list of resources is just a sampling of professionals out in the world who are the real deal and will take care of you because they care about life-long health and not just short term results! They want you to be the best version of you. There are many other professionals in various fields who can help you along your journey. I will put contact information in the show notes. I know sometimes it can be intimidating to get started or even know where to look so I will be glad to help you make connections.   How to Be Okay with People Not Liking You Podcast #406   In this episode of The Confidence Podcast, we're talking about: The fact that you are indeed likable, even when you feel like the odd-ball out or an only awkward oneThe reasons behind why we like some people and not others, and vice versaHow to be okay with people not liking you ---- and what to do about it   REVIEW OF THE WEEK: Trish Blackwell is inspiring - 5 Stars by HessMart I can't believe it took me so long to find Trish Blackwell. I've struggled my whole life with self-confidence, I'm 45-years old. I am learning so many tips from her. She's teaching me how to love myself. I have a very strong Christian faith and she sprinkles in the word of God but doesn't overdo it. Even if you're not a Christian, you will adore her and will feel more confidence from the first podcast you listen to.   MOST PEOPLE LIKE YOU First, let it be said that probably most people you know like you. And then there are those people who you don't think like you, who really are just having a bad day or need a smile or an attitude shift. (Example - receptionist at new pediatrician, cold to me, irritated and short ... but with kindness, she became kind. - we've got to be patient and extend grace to people --- we never know what's really going on where we can't see).  The other percentage of people who maybe aren't overly "nice" to you are sometimes just: -distracted -busy -self-focused -anxious -insecure We often misinterpret people's distraction as a reaction and rating on who we are in their eyes.  Finally, there's the group of people that we self-assume don't like us. The people we feel different from that we convince ourselves that because of our differences we don't have commonalities. And this of course, couldn't be further from the true. But - a note on being different. We all feel different. And it's a weird feeling - it creates a deep state of internal tension. But, friend, please know, this is quite universal. It doesn't mean you're weird. It means that you need to attribute new value to the word and descriptor "different."  Side note: in 2020 a lot of us are being different - each interpreting our situations, our priorities and our goals through mixed information. It feels awful, but embrace that place. I'm learning the spiritual gift of accepting being on the outside - on the fringe - on being different because it is forcing me to be okay with people not liking my decisions, potentially judging me or talking about me behind my back, or the like. It's okay to do life differently.  In fact, being different inspires me. I don't want to live like the world: stressed, behind, anxious, insecure, chaotic and seeking whatever next high will fill my soul.  I want a hurry-free life. I want a slow life. I want a deep life.  I work with my entrepreneurs on this - lifestyle choices that are different are okay --- like having boundaries with your hours, taking a day of complete rest ---- let people have their opinion and you stick to yours.    PEOPLE LIKING OR NOT LIKING YOU IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS   What people think about you is none of your business. What is your business? -Your thoughts -Your decisions -Your actions -Your purpose -Your kindness -Your showing up in this world No one likes a busybody or nosey neighbor. So why do we think it's okay to be like that internally, even if we're the only ones who know it? The more I've studied confidence, and the more I feel secure as my relationship with God deepens, the more I am coming to understand that if I live my life in a way that everyone likes me, then I am doing something wrong. It means that I'm not standing for anything - that I waver and cater to every opinion - that I'm building my life upon the sand, not upon a firm foundation. Think about someone you know who tries to have everyone like them.

Trish Blackwell, a confidence coach and creator of the College of Confidence is our guest for this episode of Behind the Membership. Funnily enough, Trish's biggest challenge with her membership initially was actually having the confidence in her ideas and what she wanted to create. Something that she was able to overcome in order to build a thriving membership site that's now been running for over three years and which is continuing to grow and evolve. In this episode, we're talking all about how Trish overcame her original doubts and how the membership model has allowed her to 3x her private coaching fee, while still helping even more people.  We’re also discussing the challenges of running a business with small children at home and how hiring support for her community was a game changer for Trish and her membership, plus much, much more.

I love to share podcasts that I find helpful or informative, just as I love it when you share with me the ones that are favorites of yours. You never know when something you hear today might become that “Ah ha” moment that changes your life for the better. That is my hope for you when you tune in to my podcasts. Podcasting was not on my radar until a friend asked if I had listened to Trish Blackwell’s “The Confidence Podcast”. I fell in love not only with Trish and what she had to say but with the idea of podcasting in general. That was the “Ah ha” moment where I felt like I could make a difference and impact the lives of many people by creating a Direction Not Perfection podcast. Today I had the honor of interviewing my podcast hero.Trish, who is the creator of “The Confidence Podcast” as well as “The Confidence College”was not always a confident person. She is passionate about confidence now because it was a huge struggle in her life. She hid her insecurities by being obsessed with achievement, until she hit rock bottom as a damaged shell of a person. God brought her to a place of healing and freedom and now her mission is to help other women step into confidence and abundance and find freedom from the invisible prison of self-doubt. She wants them to realize that “Transformation comes when we learn to take our thoughts captive and we learn to see ourselves as the victorious, beloved women that God created us to be”.Being confident, just like being healthy and fit is not a “check the box and be done forever” thing and it does not come overnight. It is a journey that isn’t easy but can be done with a lot of hard work, one step at a time. No matter how many steps you have to take to get to a place of freedom, it doesn’t matter. Every step forward is a step that’s better. Joy Meyers says, “We may not be where we want to be, but we aren’t where we were yesterday”. As we go on that journey, we become freer and have more joy, more peace and more kindness. Celebrate that progress and be encouraged by your successes along the way. You are in a much better place today. Grasp the champagne moments of every win.On the road to becoming more confident we must realize the importance of repetition. It is okay, it doesn’t make us week. It makes us strong to stick to something and know we are going to fail and pick ourselves back up. Repetition is the gateway to mastery, not 10 times, 10,000 times. Trish learned this teaching herself to kick a soccer ball with her left foot rather than her right. She did it over and over, counting up thousands of kicks and eventually had it down. The same thing can be said about our minds. Trish would get discouraged with how many times it would take her to mentally connect something from her head to her heart. She knew things but couldn’t implement them. For the lesson to sink in she needed to do the hard, emotional work again and again and see the patience she was building and the confidence she was strengthening. The learning she was doing was like kicking a ball a thousand times with her left foot, so she was strong enough to do get back on the field. There was no quick fix. It took time and repetition.College of ConfidenceTrish has created an educational platform containing courses on confidence and life coaching. Live group coaching sessions and a 24-7 forum for support are just a part of what is offered. She wanted coaching to be affordable and accessible. You need coaching more than just once or twice. It is something you will work on your whole life because “every level has a new devil”. There is always a new challenge and you need to learn a new step of confidence to conquer it. When in college you are there to learn. As women we have been raised to think we need to look like we have it all together and know what we are doing. Trish wants to convey to women that they can have more freedom and more confidence if they say, “I actually don’t know what I am doing, but I am here to learn.” The more passionate we can be about learning the more confident we will be. If you learn, you will be growing. If you are growing, you will be going. An “Ah ha” moment came to Trish while she was running in the Chicago marathon several years ago. She hit a wall and was trying to figure out what pace she had to run to finish the race. Someone on the sidelines held up a sign that read “Forward is a pace”. That changed everything for her. In the best Direction Not Perfection way, she realized that she didn’t need to worry about the perfect pace, she just needed to keep moving forward. She sees this in coaching when so many people struggle with being behind. They think “I’m not married with a family “or “my business isn’t where I think it should be. I’m not making 6 figures”. They have a mindset of the pace their life should be following. They need to detox imperfection, release the outcome and say it is the process not the outcome. As long as I’m growing, I’m going in the right direction, forward. Direction not Perfection. Give yourself credit for moving forward today. Forward is a pace. That can give you peace in your heart.http://www.betterhelp.com/confidencepod to get 10%0ffwww.trishblackwell.comOther Resources:https://www.juliezolmandesign.com/www.healthaccountabilitycoach.comwww.facebook.com/houselifestylesIG: @houselifestyles

I am a newer nurse working nights and when I get behind at 3 am and can feel myself on the verge of a breakdown and completely unraveling, I am choosing better thoughts (like "forward is a pace," and "I can do hard things," two fav Trish Blackwell-isms.) An inspiration in my life is someone I’ve never even met in person!  Trish Blackwell is an online life coach/personal trainer who built and grew her coaching business from scratch, through persistence and grit.  She now has hundreds of thousands of followers across the world.  I found her on iTunes over a year ago, when I stumbled across one of her podcasts on how to live your life with more purpose.   During that time, (probably not unlike others!),  I was constantly “running”,  juggling a corporate job, trying to stay healthy, remodel our house, be a good spouse, daughter, friend, aunt, dog-mom, God-mom, HR leader, you name it….and at times, felt overwhelmed in the day-to-day aspects of life.  I never had enough time in a day, yet always felt I should be doing more.  Trish explains how to “get off the busy-bus” and step into the gift of the present.  She coaches on the power of “thoughts” and how to find happiness in every single day. Her recommendations not only opened my eyes to new ways of thinking - they broadened my perspective on life. She’s showed me how to slow down, act with courage, think bigger, find my purpose (work in progress), celebrate my progress and live my best life – professionally and personally.   #BeYouBeFree I think I’ll go write her a 5-star review on iTunes now… 25 WAYS HOW TO BE AND STAY POSITIVE AND ENCOURAGED DURING  A PANDEMIC AND COVID-19 Will my children look back at this season and remember a time when their momma was walking in faith or will they remember this as a season their momma walked in fear? When it all comes down to it, we have one choice: will we choose fear or faith? If you prefer, you can make the choice of peace or panic.  It's vital that we find ways to stay positive during the coronavirus pandemic Here are things to remember and ways you can stay positive during the face of the coronavirus pandemic, not panicked:  Remember: Slowing down is a gift - there are things from this season that we would not have otherwise experienced without this global crisis - and a slower, more simple life that comes with social distancing and isolation is one such gift. Take Action: Reduce your media exposure - the fear is often worse than the virus - this is good life shift as the average social media user spends 2 hours and 33 minutes on social media per day. (According to TechJury.net) This is an opportunity to change fundamental habits that increase your life happiness. Take Action: Post only what is positive and be a leader of encouragement and light in this dark. How you speak matters and how you encourage others will be remembered. There is an overabundance of negativity in people's newsfeeds right now, so ask yourself how you can add sunshine or something of substance to it instead. Take Action:Connect deeper with yourself and make this a time of journaling and deep reflection. So many people stay so busy that they don't have time for basic self-care and also fundamental self-exploration. This can be your time to really get to know yourself so that you can learn how to be yourself - and when you learn how to be yourself, you can then start to fully pursue your calling in this world. Remember:You can be the anti-strand of anti-fear - your positivity is as viral as the virus. Do not underestimate the power of your positivity,

HOW TO MAKE THIS YEAR THE YEAR YOU STICK TO YOUR DIET Podcast #371 Sticking to your diet is much less about discipline and will-power than you think it might be. Those who are successful in their health and fitness goals focus more on mindset than on perfect habits. This podcast episode will help breakdown the differences and will teach you how to have a banner year for your health habits ... helping you be successful with your weight goals this year. In this episode of The Confidence Podcast we're chatting about: The mindset of successful weight loss and of those who have a healthy relationship with food What to do when you feel triggered and your confidence in your discipline feels shakey How to talk back to yourself and train your thoughts to guarantee yourself success this year ANNOUNCEMENT: Do you get fearful sometimes, worrying what people may or may not think about you? Maybe it's someone close to you, or someone you barely know, but the potential of them looking down on you, judging you or making a comment about it is enough to make you play it safe? If so, then I'll see you in class this week - I'm hosting something you don't want to me. It's my new free 20-minute power-packed webinar class on How to Stop Caring What People Think. I've poured all my creative energy into this over the past two weeks and can't wait to share with you what I want to teach! I almost didn't write my first book, I almost didn't run my first running race, I almost didn't go on the blind date that led to my amazing husband, I almost didn't start my blog, or this podcast or my business ... I was worried that people would think "who is she to do _____" or "gosh, she's stupid"... but thankfully I had the right mentors who loved on me, pushed me and taught me how to just go be me - to go be Trish Blackwell and to not worry about what anyone thinks as I do.  I want to teach you the same thing. Grab your spot at www.trishblackwell.com/class REVIEW OF THE WEEK: @cdrinkwine - Never-ending Fountain of Motivation and Strength I discovered Trish's podcast earlier in 2019 when I set a goal for myself to increase my confidence. While I don't consider myself to be painfully meek, I know that I can use improvement to help my professional and personal life. Trish's podcast put all other confidence podcasts to shame. Her positive attitude, full exposure of her own challenges and well organized and well-researched advice and guidance has helped me feel more confident and improve in numerous ways. For example, I love to swim but was always afraid of doing anything but a crawl stroke for fear of feeling embarrassed as I flopped around in the pool. By pointing out that other people are not worrying about me but worrying about themselves, I shed that fear and now happily splash my way through all strokes (and have actually gotten pretty good at them). I also don't hold back to speak up and share my ideas in meetings and stand my ground when I"m confident that my professional decisions are solid. I hope men and women who want to improve their confidence make the right choice and listen to Trish. I also did join Trish's College of Confidence and find that to be a huge bonus, adding to a wonderfully supportive community to the great content. Count yourself lucky that you've discovered this podcast and take advantage of the tremendous free resource with which Trish has gifted us. Thanks so much, Trish, Being me, being free! COACHING NUGGEST FOR WEIGHT LOSS:  Breakthrough with food is less about what you do and more about your self-talk. You won't ever be the bodyweight you want until you are proud of the person you are on the inside. The more you hide from yourself, the more you will perpetuate self-shame - and the shame cycle of sabotage. HOW TO TO HAVE THE CONFIDENCE I HAVE Podcast #365 In this episode of The Confidence Podcast we're chatting about: The relationship between freedom and confidence? What my tagline "Be you, be free" means and how to tap into its powerHow you can learn to have confidence I have by pursuing freedom SPONSORSHIP NOTE: This podcast is brought to you by my free masterclass on confidence. Just go to www.trishblackwell.com/freeclass  REVIEW OF THE WEEK:  Kara012994 I just started listening to your podcast and I truly believe God has sent me to you. Thank you for being so positive and brightening my day.  WHAT DOES FREEDOM HAVE TO DO WITH CONFIDENCE? Noun:  the power or right to act, speak or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. BE YOU, BE FREE: WHAT DOES IT MEAN?  It starts with the most basic of all taglines - let's explore what mine actually means It requires being emotionally brave to understand what you might be enslaved to. "Be you, be free." This is a tagline that settled into my heart when I first started blogging and podcasting. It felt right and it was simple and clear. I had learned that when I was myself, when I was actually Trish, that I then felt the most alive. I think that the best word to describe that state of being absolutely alive is being "free." Being "free" gave me permission to make mistakes, to fail, to be goofy, to be myself, to be daring, to be bolder in my faith, to be curious, to be human.  It let me be the Trish that I was when I was a little girl. Unafraid of rejection. Safe within the walls of my parents' love - even though their relationship was up and down, their love for me wasn't.  Previous, I was consumed and constrained. Restrained by the pressure I put on myself, by the cage I had put around myself in protection, by the complications and challenges of anxiety and self-sabotage I had set up for myself .... internally I wanted to be a child again, to be alive, to be unrestricted, to be joyous.  My heart craved freedom. True freedom.  I believe that the key to freedom starts with identity. BREAKOUT: GOING, GOING....ALMOST GONE Currently, it sells for $397 and when we relaunch it in 2020 it will be a course that sells for $1997. Get it for yourself now before the cost quadruples.   https://www.trishblackwell.com/breakout/ HOW DO CAN YOU LEARN TO "BE YOU, BE FREE?"  Be You. Figure out how to be you.  Best advice ever given to me: "Just go be Trish Blackwell." How to Overcome Feelings of Inadequacy, Episode #269 How to Feel Confident About Who You Are, Episode #244 Laughing With Yourself + Stop Taking Life So Seriously, Episode #153  Be Who You Are, Not Who You Were, Episode #11  Be Free. Get serious about freedom in your life. Identify what is holding you back. Look at the cage you've allowed yourself to stay stuck in and break out - you have the keys.  HOW TO HAVE THE CONFIDENCE I HAVE  Be you. Be free. Experiment with this and dare to do things differently. God decided that, of all people in history and to come, that there needed to be a you. You don't have to have all the plans figured out, because God has plans for you. The thing that gives me the most confidence, peace and freedom >>>> God promises me that I am not alone. God tells me that He has a perfect, prosperous plan for me. God has my life in His hands, I need not work to control it, plan it or be anxious about it.  God made me to be me, and I can trust who He made me to be - and the things He's refining in my heart as He develops me.  God hears me. REVIEW OF THE WEEK:  Shey11112222 "One of the most influential podcasts on the airwaves" - 5 Stars It took me a long time to do this as I've been an active listener for almost a year but I have to say this. Trish Blackwell is one of the reasons I was able to take accountability and grab a hold on my life. Life can be so chaotic and unpacking all the layers can become so overwhelming. Having Trish's podcast is like having a therapist at the touch of a finger. No matter what you might be dealing with she has enough content for you to align with whatever it is you're dealing with. She has taught me so much about the importance of honoring your process and taking action with faith as your warranty. This does not necessarily mean "god" but more trusting that what is beyond you and your control with aligning with what you're trying to accomplish. Trish Blackwell is the reason why I stepped up and created my own podcast Vitamins for Breakfast, aiming to connect people through real-life conversation. Trish always expresses her real-life experiences and how she is using them to be a light to others. Knowing this, I decided to create a podcast that gathers people of all walks of life and allows them to use the bumps in their journey to serve a lesson for others. This is a concept that was born from me listening to Trish EVER.SINGLE. DAY. Now that I have created and launched my podcast I sit back overwhelmed with how far I've come and I have to come on here and honestly say Trish is a big part of this accomplishment. Trish, thank you so much for choosing this to be your purpose, God makes no mistakes and I'm sincerely and forever grateful. HOW A MINDSET KEEPS YOU STUCK: Your mindset is either a key or a lock to your future. Show me a mindset and I will be able to see a measurement of how far that person is capable of going or able to go. Our minds create the atmosphere in which we live and narrate the story of our lives. Which "mindset team" will you play for? Powerful mindset teams: Limited or Limitless Pouting or Praising Grumbling or Grateful Victim or Victorious Complaining or courageous WHICH MINDSET IS THE MOST DANGEROUS FOR SUCCESS? The "I am not doing enough" mindset. It makes you feel always behind and constantly overwhelmed. It keeps you from having joy, being present, or successfully thriving wherever you are. It drives comparison and scarcity deep into your brain. It robs you from any chance to consistently progress towards what you want (because deems you incapable, shame-filled and busy) Are you willing and ready to give up the hold you have on this mindset? Going into recovery will feel - vulnerable, scary, weird, wrong, unnatural, radical What do you have to lose? 5 IMPORTANT STEPS TO CHANGE HOW YOU THINK: Identify and take ownership of the thought or mindset.

Shop for your own Beautycounter collection at www.beautycounter.com/trishblackwell REVIEW OF THE WEEK:  Courtneya0730 - Big Changes - 5 Stars Thanks to this show and Trish Blackwell, I am a more confident person. I have been listening to past episodes every day for around a month and I have noticed a huge change in my mindset. I'm thinking more positively and openly. But, I have to say, the biggest change I have seen is my smile! I'm no longer fake smiling for pictures! I feel so good listening to someone who "gets" me and points me in the right direction. Thank you, Trish, for all you are doing! WHAT IS SELF-SABOTAGE AND WHY DOES IT HAPPEN? Self-Sabotage manifests itself in a variety of ways, including but not limited to: Over-eating Over-drinking Over-watching TV Over-exhaustion It also can be expressed by mindsets and lifestyles of: An attitude of giving up Believing that it doesn't matter Will-power exhaustion Numbing through scrolling and comparison Overwhelm over how far one has to go THE ROLE OF SHAME IN THE CYCLE OF SELF-SABOTAGE Self-Sabotage is Black/White Thinking ... All or Nothing Mindset and the pressure of perfectionism and perfectionistic thinking perpetuate the cycle. It is driven by guilt and shame. "I choose peace, not pressure." Putting more pressure on yourself never works and never will. To listen to coaching on exactly how to go into recovery and to enter "rehab" for perfectionism, be sure to listen to episode #335 of The Confidence Podcast on "Why Perfectionism Prevents You from Being Confident."  (www.trishblackwell.com/335) 10 TIPS TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF SELF-SABOTAGE FOR GOOD: Stop depriving yourself!  (Deprivation sets us up for failure) Create a strong "Last 90 Minutes Routine" Camp out around the concept of grace Growth is everything - find gratitude for the lessons and nothing is wasted Overcome overwhem by not over-focusing on the finish line Get in the habit of champagne moments and momentum celebration Shatter your belief ceilings Choose peace, not pressure Be here, now (not in the future, not in the past, not in comparison) Recharge yourself intentionally and know your capacity Real change doesn't come from behavior modification but from heart transformation. Our habits are birthed from the beliefs we have and hold in our hearts. ANNOUNCEMENTS:  School is starting back up - Summer is coming to a close ... it's time to shed the things holding you back and to lean into what you anticipate is waiting you in the future. TRISHBLACKWELL.COM/FREECLASS REVIEW OF THE WEEK: Amazing & Encouraging! -LeesaWhite Everyone needs to listen to this show! Trish Blackwell is so gifted at encouragement it brings me to tears at just about every episode. I've labeled myself a "people pleaser" for a while, seeing there is a good heart that goes with it, but not seeing/knowing how to dig myself out of the hole of anxiety that goes with it. Trish will be the first to tell you that you won't ever make everyone happy. Trish will teach you to stop apologizing to liking pink (hehe, mine is ugly olive green). Trish will teach you to stop caring what others think. Trish will inspire tangible steps towards the best "you" you can be in all realms (parent, spouse, friend, worker, boss). Trish digs deep into research to give you the best content every week and her transparency to share her own struggles is so incredibly powerful. I'm so thankful for her strong yet gentlefolks words as I commute to work. It puts me in a good mood to continue to "bloom where I'm planted." Give this show a listen if you care to give this world a better you! TURN GUILT INTO GRATITUDE INSTEAD OF FEELING GUILTY Feeling guilty? What does turning guilt into gratitude mean? Stop the cycle of shame > it perpetuates the cycle of self-sabotage Instead, turn guilt into gratitude and into grace. We can find gratitude when we look through the lens of learning. As long as we are learning, we are growing. As long as we are growing, we can feel confident and proud of ourselves. As long as we feel confident, we will feel courageous. As long as we feel courageous, we will take action. As long as we take action, we will be consistent. As long as we are consistent, we will never fail. This practice can be implemented with not exercising, with letting someone down, with over-eating or something that makes you feel disappointed in yourself, in not doing your to-do list to your personal expectation...and more. You can let go of feeling guilty. Life comes at us fast. When our feet hit the ground in the morning there are many different ways that the day could unfold. It could go exactly as we would like it to, but often, unexpected things pop up throwing our day into turmoil. We can get control of our day when we realize that life works best when we have balance, control our expectations and practice purposeful planning.Balance: You need to have balance in your life. It is difficult to truly appreciate many things unless you have experienced the lack of or the opposite of them. It is hard to appreciate a calm day if you haven’t experienced a very busy one or a super social evening without having had quiet, home-bound evenings.Expectations: We need to remove the expectation that we shouldn’t come up against resistance. By realizing that we will always have barriers and that they are an expected part of the journey, we can reduce feelings of frustration when they pop up.Planning: Failing to plan is planning to fail. When life works best, we will have planned out our day. Ideally, starting out with something that fills our motivational tanks will set our day up in a positive way. This will look different for everyone, but examples would be exercise, meditation, or Bible study. Follow this by balancing out the “me” time with work time, kid time, home time etc. In a practical way we are set up for a perfect day. However, the best laid plans will never happen all of the time and this should never be our expectation. We should expect that life will throw us curve balls and we will need to be flexible and shift with whatever the day brings.Making specific plans for your week, and writing them down, can keep you from aimless, unproductive, unfulfilling days.ABC goal setting as suggested by Trish Blackwell in her Confidence Podcast. Make lists of you’re A, B and C goals.A goals – have to happen first, today or nowB goals – need to happen in a few days or weeksC goals – are important but have no sense of urgencyJournaling Questions:1. When was the last time you thoroughly reviewed your schedule? At first glance do you feel balanced in your life?2. When you hear the expression “saying yes to something, means saying no to something else” does this bring up any emotion for you?3. Do you have a method to your planning? Have you ever tried ABC goal setting?4. Do you have an expectation that you should never come up against resistance? If you could ever get past (fill in the blank) that it would then be smooth sailing?Homework:Your homework is to read back through your journaling questions and utilize this insight to make any changes you think you may need. Write out your wins and your barriers, you are not going to change everything in a week, but at least you now have a road map to where you are going!Goal setting will always be part of your homework. BODY CONFIDENCE IN A WAY YOU'VE NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT IT  Podcast #308 This week on The Confidence Podcast, we're chatting about: How to use touch to get back in touch with your body What does body confidence mean Understanding what about your body is really tripping you up or keeping you down The switch that changed my stress-levels about my body SPONSORSHIP NOTES:  This episode is brought to you today by my FREE micro-course, the Quick Confidence Boost. That little voice inside that's telling you-you're not enough? It's lying. It's mean. It's a bully. And it's keeping you from the life God created you to live. I say "no more!" My self-bully used to shame me. It kept me small, scared and in a state of self-sabotage. Then I got tired of it, and I learned how to stand up to the bully. I'll teach you the step-by-step process to start doing the same thing. Join my FREE micro-course, a 7-day confidence coaching course, and you feel changes in your internal self-talk with these quick, 3-minute FREE coaching videos. I spent too many years of my life silenced by self-doubt. I will do anything in my power to help free other women from having to suffer any longer. You were created to shine light into this world, but to shine brightly we've gotta get rid of the bully that's keeping you from living muted. Start the FREE micro-course today at www.trishblackwell.com/quickconfidenceboost REVIEW OF THE WEEK: Swidz! "Obsessed with Trish" I've been meaning to write a review for a WHILE now. Trish Blackwell is an absolutely incredible person and confidence coach. Whenever I am feeling down, I immediately turn to her positive words of encouragement and it immediately brightens my day. She is real and doesn't hold back from sharing her struggles from her past and day to day life. My sister found this podcast when she was going through a very tough time in her life and shared it with me. And I can say with confidence that this podcast saved her and I cannot thank Trish enough for that. Through tough days or good days, Trish is a voice to be listened to! She's a superstar and I am forever grateful for her. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! HOW TO USE TOUCH TO GET BACK IN TOUCH WITH YOUR BODY You are fearfully and wonderfully made. But are you treating your body that way? Do you really appreciate your body for the miracle it is? For the wondrous things, it does? Touch and thank-you technique. Touch a body part. Thank God for creating this part of you. Thank your body for being your body. Touch and say thank you specifically for how this part looks. Touch and say thank you specifically for something this part allows you to do. Move onto the next body part. A few other touch methods. > Lotion and self-acceptance love > Two-hand heart touch + speaking to your inner child. > Stretch and touch with breath work. UNDERSTANDING WHAT ABOUT YOUR BODY IS REALLY TRIPPING YOU UP OR KEEPING YOU DOWN What story have you told yourself about yourself? Do you really see yourself as others see you? What would happen if you got a professional photo shoot done? How would the people who love you the most describe your body? What would happen if you just accepted yourself? Are you afraid to let go of your own self-hate? Do you feel like you're supposed to be dissatisfied? How is not liking your body serving you? What is it doing for you? Do you really want to change and to feel free, or do you like the comfort of having this be your main problem and main excuse? What facade is your body image issue really protecting you from? I didn't think loving my body or being healthy was allowed to be easy. I felt uncomfortable liking my body, because what if no one else thought I was okay and I did? I liked hiding from my real pain by numbing myself with body loathing. THE SWITCH THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING FOR ME Focus on what your body does and how it feels, not on what it looks like. I want to snowboard when I'm 77.

Trish's podcast along with her book have allowed me to work through that in a possible way. I love the different tips, and "homework" she gives you. This par helps the most because you get to journal about your feelings and really think about what you really do want in life. I also LOVE how it is all connected to God. Trish makes you feel comfortable and she doesn't make you feel alone, she is in this with you! I definitely recommend giving it a listen, you won't regret it! HOW I HAVE STRUGGLED WITH THIS IN MY PAST The first time I heard "I beat Trish Blackwell" in the locker room - I realized people talked about me behind my back I wanted people to think I was special - a superstar in swimming; I wanted to be someone people talked about positively Friendships; being an elite athlete, and also homeschooled made me different, I was desperate to fit in and have people like me so I turned into a huge people pleaser. High school; I was the poorest kid in a prestigious boarding school. I relied on kindness and my social leadership skills to be a "social floater" and it worked - everyone "liked" me, but it all felt superficial and I spent enormous amounts of energy managing these relationships, and more importantly, my image. College; wanting to be cool and to be the perfect balance of a Division I student-athlete sorority perfect student with both party friends and Christian friends. Scholarship pressure; fear of not deserving it, impostor syndrome, pressure to perform, worry that people would think I didn't deserve it. Adulthood; dating the wrong men because I wanted status (models, pro athletes), and compromising my values in the process. Partying and acting out someone I wasn't in order to have the respect of cool adults - I wanted the status and image that I was carefree and successful. Body Image; thinking that if I had a perfect body - in high school, college and also as a trainer in my career - that then people would think higher of me or have more respect for me, and for the times (which was most of the time) when I felt like I failed living up to that image, I want to hide from the world and felt like a failure. Hair; my natural insecurity with hair (stemming from a moment I was too sensitive with something my mom said) - fear that I am not pretty and that people are judging me by my hair. Business and my first book / building my brand; putting yourself out vulnerably is terrifying, but in order to help people and serve the audience I felt God was calling me to serve, I knew I had to get over my fear of what people where going to think. I had to focus on who I was helping and put blinders on to the rest. Comparison in general - we can always find people who are "doing better...

Particularly passionate about bringing hope to those who struggle with perfectionism, negative body image, eating disorders, compulsive exercise or confidence issues, Blackwell has become the leader on image issues in the fitness industry. Her own struggle with eating disorders and body dsymorphia plagued her for a full decade, though she hid it well behind a façade of perfectionism and feigned happiness. Trish knows what it feels like to feel trapped inside of your own body and is committed to helping others find the freedom to love the skin they're in that she was finally able to find through her journey. Confidence coach, life coach, personal trainer, author, speaker and podcaster, Trish inspires her community across the world to conquer life with confidence. A graduate of Davidson College (B.A. French, laude), Blackwell was a full-scholarship Division I swimmer. After Davidson she moved to France where she competed in swimming internationally as she taught English in the French school systems. It was in France that she discovered self-acceptance and how to live life to the fullest. Her personal journey has taken her through many stages of negative and toxic living: destructive perfectionism, an eating disorder, a broken heart from an abusive relationship and sexual assault that threw her into a deep depression. Trish learned to train her mind, declaring herself to be victorious over her circumstances, not a victim of them. Now Trish knows that it is never too late to pursue living the life of your dreams. She coaches people across the globe to make radical lifestyle changes so that they can let their unique story and purpose shine. Episode #39: 4 Ways to Take Your Best Ideas to the Masses

Fitnesspreneur's Life

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 11, 2016 59:29

Trish Blackwell isn’t your average trainer. She believes that sustainable change comes from within. If you’re not dealing with the stuff that’s underneath, that mental game, then your chances for success are much harder.   I was honored to have her stop by my podcast and share her story. She proves that anyone who comes across a great idea can take it to the masses via lots of platforms and finding their tribe.   Here are four tips she discovered along the road of her unique journey that can help you launch your brand.   Forget Perfectionism   Let’s get rid of the idea that perfectionists are this close to perfect. That’s false. There’s no such thing as perfect. And people who waste their time trying to get to perfect are actually making it harder on themselves.   That quest for perfection can sometimes be used as a crutch. It can keep us from trying things or implementing ideas because we won’t make a move until it’s perfect.    Instead, just deal with what’s in front of you and move forward.   The saying “Perfect is the enemy of Good” is so true. Don’t be a perfectionist. You’ll let the best in life pass you by. Believe me, your competitors aren’t waiting for perfect. They’re going after it and giving it the best shot they can.   Build Your Platform   If Rome wasn’t built in a day, your business empire won’t be either. That doesn’t mean don’t dream big. It means build it one brick at a time.   Too often we want to jump right in and charge! But what that really does is take us off our game.    Trish eased into what her business would be. She started simple. She wrote a blog. By the time she decided to make the big push and self-publish, she had a year and a half of writing under her belt.    Then the floodgates opened and now she has apps, books, detoxes and more.   So build that one thing and do it well. Then the world is yours.   Be Direct With Your Brand   Even for someone as special as Trish, it took her a moment to realize that she was central to her own brand. When I met her, she was putting together Body Beautiful Bistro. That’s a perfectly fine name but once she embraced her own name and put it up on her website, she was able to really distinguish her unique message.   Too many times we think a really clever name or obscure brand will make us seem funny or mysterious. We think people will say to themselves, “I wonder what they do?” and be intrigued enough to find out more.   But those kinds of questions are branding poison. You should never leave it up to a client to figure out what you’re all about. You should have everything ready to be understood in a clear and concise manner. Take the guesswork out because you’ll likely frustrate people that way.   Tighten Up Your Niche   Better to be a big fish in a small pond, than a small fish in a big pond.   Trish provides the perfect example of going for a niche market and solving their unique problems.   Once Trish figured out and locked into the idea of addressing the mindset struggles of women dealing with insecurities and learning to accept yourself, she became a thought leader and a voice that was different than every other fit pro showing up out there. And that made her unique.    Once you can tighten your message you can transcend training, and go more global. Then your business can touch people anywhere in the world, because it’s not about just training, it’s about changing their story.   Tightening up your branding to go more niche, which contrary to popular belief, doesn’t mean you’ll exclude people, it just means you will rise up to be heard more by the right people is how you can build a business serving the people you love.      There you have a sweet tight little recap of my time with Trish, but no article can replace hearing us live. Jump on over to The Fitnesspreneur’s Life Podcast in iTunes and soak it all in.
