She has also been recognised by Communications Arts, the Art Directors Club, the One Club, the Type Directors Club and the Webby Awards. But how did it all start? As with all STIMY episodes, we start from the very beginning: with Lauren's childhood & how she ended up studying at the School of Visual Arts for, of all courses, advertising! He also explains how nonsensical it is that there are door to door Covid knockers, while our nation is being flooded with infected illegals coming over the southern border. We are supposed to be keeping aliens out, especially those who could very well be carrying disease. This is being done at the behest of a government that could care less about the best interests of America.Who is benefitting from this dereliction of duty? Those that thrive on the cheap labor that immigrants provide. Also, immigration lawyers are making a whack load of wampum on this wanton destruction of our nation.Would anyone want to get on a plane with individual(s) who evade TSA security? The same principle applies to living among unvetted, foreign nationals.Despite what globalist zealots might say, it isn't anti immigrant to want information on who we are letting in to this nation. Mike and Mr. Cutler also get into the border between the U.S. and Canada. The 49th parallel is still slammed shut, while the southern border almost ceases to exist anymore. The discussion moves toward Fentanyl coming across the southern border, which is killing Americans and funding terrorism.Mr. Cutler also shows how China comes into the mix of all this. This is such an important discussion, which needs to be furthered and continued amongst all of us.LISTEN IN FULL!!!Check out Michael's website for more info:http://www.michaelcutler.net/---------------------Enjoy this wonderful and informative hour 1Hour 2, segment 2:-Mike gets the hour rolling with some A/CDC. I saw Mira's Ted Talk about "Why Not Me?" and I was instantly hooked. I'm so attracted to people who find a way to use everything that comes their way - everything - for their own healing, gratitude, and life.I reached out to Mira because she lives by the Arabic word llhamdella, which means "I'm thankful for everything" and she means everything. Mira was born in Egypt and grew up in war - literally. Bombs were dropped on her village and her grandmother even lost her home, yet they all continued to live by, and say, llhamdella. What is the wisdom in radical gratitude? First, it keeps our biology healthy. Our physical bodies breathe deep, remain opened, and can transmute charge and stress quite easily through our bodies. This keeps the mind open, and it also keeps the body in a state of safety. Even when our outside world is very unsafe.Mira is a beautiful example of how gratitude keeps us whole and allows us to be more abundant, generous, and open to life. She also reminds us how growing up with great co-regulators (parents in this case) make all the difference. This is why someone can see a scary movie when they're 4 and emerge with more trauma than Mira, who experienced actual violence. There's so much wisdom and beauty in this episode. I'm very grateful for Mira sharing herself so that I can now share this with you.Llhamdella.BIOMira Kaddoura is founder of Red & Co., a female & minority owned boutique consultancy that helps brands make a larger, more meaningful impact on society. "My parents taught me what not to be," Steve said. At times his mom would send him to bed without dinner because he was 'a bad boy'. Really there was no food for in the house. "We were poor", Steve stated. The family was on welfare. (55:02 mark) His bed was in the kitchen.    One day, 17-year-old Steve answered an ad for an 'office boy' with the Montreal Star newspaper. He sat on a wooden bench, ready to get on-air folk a coffee and do what was ever required in that crazy Quebec media world. His pay? $50 a week, enough to help out at home, and eventually to buy a Bulova watch. Steve was a star even then and his bosses saw that glitter in his eye and willingness to fly. Soon enough, at 18 years old, the young man was on the crime beat hanging out with cops, pimps and crooks. Well, his mom didn't like that, not one bit, and asked the editor to take him off that beat and put him on entertainment. That didn't happen. Soon enough Steve was covering riots and the FLQ crisis (11:25 mark of show). He was bonked in the head by a rioter and had a shot gun stuck in his face by a soldier with a threat to shoot him if he didn't retreat his position. He moved. Steve's career was beginning to take off.       At some point my guest switched over to radio and ultimately took charge of news and programming at two of Canada's largest talk radio stations: CJAD in Montreal and CRFB1010 in Toronto. He was also the national director of the news talk format for Astral Media's six talk stations. He loved it and spent forty years as a program director mentoring Canadian radio icons like John Moore, Bill Carroll, Mark Elliot and Jim Richards.   Steve was a professor at The School of Media Studies & Information Technology at Humber College and The School of Communications Arts, Seneca at York. To his class he'd stressed the 25% rule - the importance of being among the 25% of media people who work hard, are diligent, shoot for greatness and have an unending drive to find something special within each story they cover. The other 75% watch the clock.  Today, Steve is retired and can take three hours shopping for groceries, because he's a storyteller at heart and therefore finds a yarn to weave wherever he goes, including the check-out line. He's the author of 'Making it Big in the Media'. And Steve is nuts about his wife, Liz and their two daughters.   Have a listen to Episode 39 with Steve Kowch. He puts himself out there, unabashedly, so that you get a real true sense of this man's character, pockmarks and all. Steve Kowch is a beautiful human being who has always been intent on helping others grow and rising above the challenge’s life has presented him with. May the 4th be with you! This week on the podcast I had a fascinating conversation with Heidi Hackemer about everything from the courageous stories of her grandmother during and after the Second World War, to her travels around the United States with a pickup truck or a motocycle, to her career in branding and advertising and her founding of her current brand strategy consultancy, Wolf & Wilhelmine. As I explain in the beginning, I'm trying something slightly different in this episode, I suspected I was over-preparing for a few of the previous interviews I published, in that it was taking me hours and I was also making a lot of assumptions based on the information I'd found rather than ask questions and let the interviewee speak. This time I chose to limit myself to an hour of preparation and see where the conversation went. I don't know if it's a direct consequence or if I'm making this up, though it seemed while editing that I'm making more "Ah" and "Hum" sounds than usual... In any case it was a great conversation and I hope you enjoy listening to it. As Heidi mentions, she will be speaking at the FutureFlash conference near Toronto, Canada, in a few weeks on the 18th and 19th May 2016. The event website says it's sold out though of course if you're already going then watch out for Heidi's talk! Anjali regularly writes in industry publications and speaks at a variety of events and conferences. Welcome to episode #296 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast. I picked up the business book, The Art of the Pitch - Persuasion and Presentation Skills That Win Business, by Peter Coughter and could not put it down. My agency, Twist Image, was in the midst of a massive new business pitch and the book happened to fall into my lap at the perfect time. I devoured and loved the book. I learned a ton about the new business pitch process, and Coughter does a fantastic job of reframing what, exactly, needs to happen when a company pitches. The good news is that we won the business. The better news is that Coughter agreed to have a chat with me about his book and how to win new business. For over twenty years, Coughter was President of Siddall, Matus & Coughter Inc., one of the most respected advertising and communications agencies in the Southeast. His agency won industry awards and recognition from places like the American Marketing Association, One Show, Clios, Communications Arts, and many others. Today, he is a professor at Virginia Commonwealth University's Brandcenter, and to support his teaching habit, he spends a lot of time on the road working with organizations - from all walks of life - helping them to learn how to sell their ideas better. Enjoy the conversation... Here it is: Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast - Episode #296 - Host: Mitch Joel. Running time: 45:44.
