In Austin, Texas, in 1991, the city was on the verge of becoming the place we know today, a tech hub, a cultural destination. But back then, it was still a big town that felt small, a place that believed itself safe from the kind of darkness that haunted bigger cities. At the Hillside strip mall on West Anderson Lane, there was a little shop called "I Can't Believe It's Yogurt!" It was a symbol of that every day American life… a place for after-school treats, first dates, and a first job. A place of simple, ordinary innocence. Buton the cold night of December 6, 1991, this symbol of innocence became the scene of an unspeakable crime. An act of such brutal violence that it would steal four young lives and leave a wound on the soul of the city that would fester for nearly 34 years. Amy, Eliza, Jennifer, and Sarah would become permanently etched into the city's memory. Their story became a decades-long quest, not just for a killer, but for the truth. It was a quest marred by false starts, thousands of dead-end leads, wrongful convictions that sent innocent men to prison, and ultimately, a scientific breakthrough that no one, not the investigators, not the families, not the city of Austin, ever saw coming. What happened inside the yogurt shop on that cold December night? And how did one of the most infamous cold cases in Texas history finally find its answer? Melvyn Bragg and guests discuss the anchoress and mystic who, in the late fourteenth century, wrote about her visions of Christ suffering, in a work since known as Revelations of Divine Love. She is probably the first named woman writer in English, even if questions about her name and life remain open. Her account is an exploration of the meaning of her visions and is vivid and bold, both in its imagery and theology. From her confined cell in a Norwich parish church, in a land beset with plague, she dealt with the nature of sin and with the feminine side of God, and shared the message she received that God is love and, famously, that all shall be well and all manner of things shall be well. Welcome to Week 6, the start of Cocktober. We dive into a slate that's loaded with opportunities for offenses to establish themselves (or for underdogs to sneak in and steal one). We circle back and discuss the two biggest games of the weekend: Vandy traveling to Alabama and Miami making their first road trip to face Florida State in Tallahassee. Both have baggage, both feature ranked teams, and both could shake up the playoff picture. From there, we explore the sneaky-important matchups that nobody's talking about enough: Iowa State's trip to Cincinnati, Kansas State trying to bounce back at Baylor, and Texas facing a desperate Florida team in The Swamp. We also hit on Notre Dame's chance to make a statement against Boise State, the letdown potential for Illinois, and why we're believers in some serious home dog action this week (looking at you, Cal and Virginia). Plus, we've got our weekly Pat League lookahead, a breakdown of the optimal quad setup for Saturday, and a look at the Taylor Swift curse, bear coat turnover props, and more. Crime Writers On...True Crime Review

True crime fan Lizz Melgar Rose found herself in the middle of her own case. In 2012, her father Jim was murdered in his Texas home while her mother Sandy was tied up and left in a closet wedged shut by a chair. But Sandy Melgar's inability to recall details of the home invasion made police suspicious. Lizz claimed investigators never pursued other leads, including evidence of a burglary, choosing instead to believe Sandy tied her own hands behind her back and staged the crime scene. Even with no motive or evidence linking her to the brutal stabbing, prosecutors charged her with murder.iHeartPodcasts and BBC Studios present “Hands Tied.” Host Maggie Robinson Katz explores the theory that a middle-aged woman with epilepsy and arthritis could stab her husband 30 times, stay spotless, then bind herself in a closet locked from the outside. The podcast also follows Lizz's fight to prove her mother's innocence.OUR SPOILER-FREE REVIEWS OF "HANDS TIED" BEGIN IN THE FINAL 15 MINUTES OF THE EPISODE. Donate (no account necessary) | Subscribe (account required) Join Bryan Dean Wright, former CIA Operations Officer, as he dives into today's top stories shaping America and the world. In this episode of The Wright Report, we cover Trump's viral sombrero memes targeting Democrats, the Pentagon's crackdown on leaks, fresh warnings for U.S. farmers and ranchers, the massive energy demands of AI, the arrest of Nord Stream saboteurs, Ukraine's push for Tomahawk missiles, Chinese mafia violence in Italy, Trump's Gaza peace deal, and even a rare case of good news about China's green energy trash. From mariachi memes to missile wars and mafia battles, today's brief connects the headlines shaping America and the world.   Trump's Sombrero Memes Spark Outrage: The White House posted AI videos mocking Democrats with sombreros and mustaches as they demanded $1 trillion for health care, part of which would go to migrants. VP JD Vance shrugged, saying, “Hakeem Jeffries said it was racist… but I honestly don't even know what that means.” GOP commentators called the memes “politically genius” for using humor to spotlight taxpayer costs.   Pentagon Orders Polygraphs to Stop Leaks: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth now requires NDAs and random polygraph tests for all staff and contractors to crack down on leaks. Bryan cautions that “polygraphs are tools, not an oracle,” recalling how his first CIA test flagged him for feeling guilty about stealing junior high concession stand quarters.   Screwworm Outbreak Worsens in Mexico: Cases jumped 32 percent in September to 6,700, including 5,000 in cattle. Ranchers warn the deadly parasite could soon hit Texas and drive beef prices higher. Bryan urges, “Stock up now.”   Farmers and Trump Clash Over Argentina Soybeans: After Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent bailed out President Milei, Argentina sold $7 billion in soybeans to China, undercutting U.S. farmers. Trump promised a bailout using tariff funds, but Democrats are blocking the deal. Bryan calls it “a Mexican standoff” with farmers caught in the middle.   AI Revolution Requires 44 New Nuclear Reactors: The IEEE reports U.S. AI demand will equal the output of 44 new nuclear power plants within five years. Russia remains the top uranium supplier. Trump is expanding coal leases and equity stakes in mineral and energy companies, while Bryan slams Silicon Valley's AGI obsession: “Give me a little buddy I can train each day… not a know-it-all chatbot filled with junk data.”   Nord Stream Saboteur Arrested in Ukraine Plot: German officials detained a Ukrainian tied to the 2022 pipeline bombing, allegedly ordered by General Valery Zaluzhny. Defense may argue the sabotage was a legitimate act of war.   Ukraine Pushes for Tomahawk Missiles: Trump leans toward sending 1,500-mile Tomahawks for “kind-for-kind” strikes. Putin warned it would make America a direct combatant, with U.S. CIA and Special Forces bases likely targets. Bryan warns Russia could also strike from Mexico or use saboteurs posing as asylum seekers.   Chinese Mafia Wars in Italy: Gun battles erupt in Prato as Chinese gangs fight over the $115 million hanger market for Italy's fast fashion industry. The city's Chinese population exploded from 500 in 1990 to 40,000 today, fueling Beijing-backed mafia influence.   Hamas Has Hours to Accept Trump's Gaza Plan: Qatar, Turkey, and Egypt told Hamas to accept Trump's deal or lose support. Turkey may gain F-35 jets and Egypt may see Trump pause recognition of Somaliland in return. Bryan says, “We are on a knife's edge… pray for peace.”   China Finds a Use for Dirty Green Energy Trash: Beijing is planting old wind turbine blades in the Gobi Desert to block sand dunes, creating a “New Great Wall of China.” Bryan admits, “It makes me sad to report it, but this one actually works.”   "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32     Keywords: Trump sombrero memes Hakeem Jeffries, JD Vance sombrero quote, Pete Hegseth Pentagon polygraph leaks, screwworm outbreak Mexico Texas beef, Argentina soybeans Milei China sales, Trump tariff farmer bailout, AI nuclear power IEEE report, Trump mineral wars coal leases, Nord Stream pipeline sabotage Zaluzhny, Ukraine Tomahawk missile request Trump, Putin warns U.S. combatant, Chinese mafia Prato Italy fast fashion, Trump Gaza peace plan Hamas Qatar Turkey Egypt, China wind turbine blades Gobi Desert

They also share their thoughts on this year's Miami team and what a win would do for their season. Could a win put them on the fast-track to the top seed in the CFP? Then, we head to Tuscaloosa as they discuss #10 Alabama hosting #16 Vanderbilt. Alabama is looking to avenge last season's major upset and there will be no underestimating Vanderbilt this year. Can Diego Pavia still lead Vandy to another upset?Later, Ross steps off of the field and onto the court as he shares a bit of insider news about college basketball's NCAA tournament. Talk about expanding the field has continued, with an increase to 76 teams being the most likely choice if the field does expand. Not only do the guys have some strong feelings about this potential move, but they also discuss if this could have any impact on CFP expansion talk. Then, ESPN's Dan Wetzel (who listeners might be familiar with) had to make sure the guys didn't run out of stories to talk about, so he broke some news on Wednesday about the Big Ten. The Big Ten is in talks about a $2 billion dollar investment from a private equity firm. Andy, Ross and Godfrey talk about the impact this could have on college football and the potential pitfalls it would create for the sport. Finally, the guys make their picks for this week's I've Got A Feeling. ULM, Mississippi State and the Texas vs. Florida UNDER are this week's choices. All of this and more to get you ready for another exciting week of college football with College Football Enquirer. (1:51) - #3 Miami visits #18 Florida State(18:00) - #10 Alabama looks for revenge against #16 Vanderbilt(29:52) - NCAA basketball tournament expansion & impact on CFP(40:17) - Big Ten's $2 billion decision with private equity(51:45) - I've Got A Feeling Subscribe to the College Football Enquirer on your favorite podcast app:

The federal government shut down on Wednesday for the first time in nearly seven years after Congress failed to reach a funding deal. Historically, shutdowns have proven costly for taxpayers and inconvenient for Americans who travel or rely on government services. Republican South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson joins the Rundown to discuss why he believes shutdowns are ill-advised and what legislation could be implemented to prevent them in the future. A new FOX News Poll shows Democrat Mikie Sherrill ahead of Republican Jack Ciattarelli in New Jersey's competitive gubernatorial race. The closer-than-expected contest in this typically loyal Blue State has both parties speculating about what its outcome might predict for the 2026 and 2028 election cycles. Daron Shaw, a Professor of Government at the University of Texas at Austin and a member of the FOX News Decision Desk, joins the Rundown to discuss why New Jersey is receiving so much attention this fall, which other races are being closely watched this year, and the challenges of polling in the modern age.Plus, commentary from FOX News Digital columnist David Marcus Learn more about your ad choices. EPISODE 1/3 GETTING STARTED. In a single, recent American generation, Coastal Texas snow goose hunting went from boom to bust--from a fabled hunting experience that drew hunters from around the world to another soon-to-be chapter in history. This 3-part series explores the rise and fall of snow goose hunting on the Katy Prairie--its boom, culture, decline, and lasting legacy. Legendary Texas outfitter Larry Gore--whose high school project became a half-century guiding career-- his son Isaac, to whom he's passed the torch, and Texas waterfowl historian Rob Sawyer, paint a colorful picture that some may remember, but that is forever gone. In today's episode: what'd the Texas landscape and snow goose hunting look like 50 years ago? How'd a kid manage leases, landowners and clients? How'd a high school project become a life calling?  Mentors, hardest lessons learned, advice to aspiring young outfitters?    Visit the Legendary Brands That Make MOJO's Duck Season Somewhere Podcast Possible: MOJO Outdoors  Alberta Professional Outfitters Society Benelli Shotguns Bow and Arrow Outdoors Ducks Unlimited  Flash Back Decoys GetDucks.com Inukshuk Professional Dog Food  Migra Ammunitions onX Maps  Use code GetDucks25 Sitka Gear SoundGear Tom Beckbe USHuntList.com   Like what you heard? As California enters the final phase leading up to its Nov. 4 special election and a vote on Proposition 50, plenty of unknowns surround the fate of the controversial ballot measure that would redraw California's congressional districts to offset a Republican-led gerrymander in Texas. Hoover senior fellow Lee Ohanian and distinguished policy fellow Bill Whalen, both contributors to Hoover's California on Your Mind web channel, discuss the tactics and messaging behind Prop 50 (does a pair of governors playing starring roles mean too much Gavin Newsom, too little Arnold Schwarzenegger?), why the upscale town of Calabasas ended up as a toxic waste site for Los Angeles fire debris, the failure of a prominent former legislator to gain traction in next year's governor's race despite her compelling life story, plus the travails of UCLA's football program – what the Bruins' struggles on and off the field say about the state of college football in the Golden State. June 3, 2017. Dallas, Texas. After suffering a violent assault at the hands of a female acquaintance and her male companion, 27-year old Armani Morgan goes missing. Seven weeks later, Armani's skull and five of his other bones are found in a vacant residential lot located near his residence and since the police are inclined to believe that he succumbed to a drug overdose, his cause of death is listed as “undetermined”. However, in the days prior to his disappearance, Armani had been repeatedly assaulted and harassed by this female acquaintance, who also allegedly fired a bullet through his living room window. While Armani's loved ones suspect he was the victim of foul play and that three individuals were involved in the crime, his death is never reclassified as a “homicide”. At the direct request of his family, this week's episode of “The Trail Went Cold” will be exploring the controversial case of Armani Morgan. He argues tenure often prevents professors from being independent thinkers. Berkowitz praises the University of Texas at Austin's hiring of William Inboden as Provost, viewing him as a strong reformer capable of restoring liberal education to the institution 1910 HARVARD

Who is Emani Ellis and why she sued Cardi B The allegations vs. what actually played out at trial The plaintiff's chaotic attorney and his own legal baggage Cardi's authentic testimony and why it boosted her credibility The jury's questions to the witnesses Why the case fizzled with no payout for the plaintiff Cardi's post-trial message and public remarks Access additional content and our Patreon here: https://zez.am/thebravodocket The Bravo Docket podcast, the statements we make whether in our own media or elsewhere, and any content we post are for entertainment purposes only and do not provide legal advice. It's been 13 years since I've done a grape miniseries on Tempranillo, so it was high time! This grape has come a long way in a decade +, proving that it has more nuance, terroir driven finesse, and versatility than it gets credit for.    Tempranillo is now the third most widely planted wine grape in the world, at 231,000 ha/570,000 acres. It is not widely grown outside of Spain but there are growers in 17 countries making a go of it. That said, 88% of Tempranillo's vineyard area is in Spain and most of it is in the northern central parts, with Rioja and Ribera del Duero as the shining stars.                                                                         Photo: Getty Images via Canva   In this show, I go over the DNA and history of the grape and I discuss the many, many names it has. I talk about how it reacts to terroir and its behavior in the vineyard, and why it is so uniquely suited to the special areas in Spain where it thrives. I talk about winemaking and its effect on the grape and then I dive into the aging criteria of Spain (Generico, Crianza, Reserva, Gran Reserva) before going over the specific regions in Spain, Portugal, and the New World in which this grape does amazing things.   This is one of the most important grapes in the world, and the mini-series is packed with info! Enjoy and go try some different wines, you will be surprised at how different they are based on all the factors I mention in the show.
