Nick and Brad reflect upon their experiences with "I Am Alive", a downloadable adventure/platformer from Ubisoft Shanghai. They discuss the game's troubled history, its similarity to survival horror, and the mechanics that make this one of the most memorable games of 2012 so far. There are some minor spoilers near the end of the show (See spoiler warning time stamps below) but any fan of platforming or survival-horror will want to give this a listen. A technical glitch of somebody losing our headphone splitter means that Euan is left a little high and dry before this record so wasn’t able to join us. Tom, Alan and Cam instead talk through the Mass Effect series (Cam currently on 2, Tom blasting his way through 3), Alan starts singing Erasure as he plays Robot Unicorn Attack and WWE Wrestlefest on his brand new iPad which he ended up queuing for on release day. For some reason this ends up with us talking about the 1987 He-Man movie in far too much detail. The situation with Game is the topic for our half arsed attempt at a news section in which Cam edited out seven and a half minutes of waffle about Tesco. That’s waffle about Tesco, not buying waffles in Tesco. Alan then opens his Retro games Emporium with a talk about the Dizzy series from Codemasters. It leads to a lot of talk about eggs. That’s just eggs, not buying eggs in Tesco. Cam reviews both I Am Alive and Street Fighter x Tekken whilst Tom casts his critical eye over Mass Effect 3. Alan meanwhile considers a new career move. This week Kropotkin, Alphabox, Hendrix and Tara share their adventures in the land of Skyrim. This includes giant baiting and should not be missed. Krop and Hendrix chat about their experiences with Star Wars the Old Republic and declare it to be very entertaining, despite the MMO shackles it is burdened with. Alpha finishes Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and finds it to be an entertaining romp. He does not rate the multiplayer when compared to Battlefield though, much like everybody else. Tara tells of her struggle between playing Saints Row the The Third and Skyrim and she feels very torn. Damn! A two hour show! This episode went on mostly without a hitch except for Dj hero playing in the background and some audio leveling issues.
