Episode 124: Another fertility expert interview to celebrate the launch of a fabulous new book 'The Way of Fertility.' Insightful, inspiring and full of hope alongside beautiful true life stories from Michelle's clients. In this week's episode we discuss: - How emotions impact the body from the lens of Chinese medicine - The role of intuition when it comes to reproductive health - Heart-uterus connection and how modern research findings reflect it - The power of being in a state of flow and how it relates to our vitality - The impact that the mind has over our body An excerpt from my favourite part of the book: “Vibrations play a crucial role in our daily lives; vibration is what inherently connects us to the world around us. We ourselves emit vibrations, and we are constantly responding to vibrations of all kinds, including the sound waves we hear, the energy that surrounds us, and the frequency at which our emotions resonate. By understanding the profound impact that these vibrations have on us, we can harness their harmonious potential to improve our overall well-being. When we are in a state of balance and harmony, our vibrations are aligned, and we radiate coherent energy. Conversely, when our vibrations are disrupted or out of sync, we may experience feelings of unease or discomfort." This book shares the energetics of fertility through the lens of ancient wisdom and I love it. Michelle Oravitz, L.Ac, FABORM is an acupuncturist, specializing in Fertility Health. She found her love in Chinese medicine after it helped her through her own menstrual cycle challenges and this inspired her to change her career from architecture to acupuncture. Michelle is the host of a top rated podcast called ‘The Wholesome Fertility Podcast' . She has been endorsed by best-selling authors such as Aimee Raupp, Jessica Ortner, and Dr. Lisa Miller. Michelle has been on a mission to help women get pregnant (naturally and IVF preparation) through her one on one work at her acupuncture clinic as well as online. She recently authored a new book, The Way of Fertility, which dives deep into the energetics of fertility through the lens of ancient wisdom. Michelle believes that our bodies are hardwired to procreate and by connecting to our inherent wisdom, we can awaken our natural reproductive vitality. This is a very powerful read. (And why she always uses this technique with people on her show, even though it's not always shown!)   - Why it's important to increase your emotional library to be able to express and release stuck emotions.   - The power of love - Why she believes that there is no wound deep enough that love cannot heal, and how you can make the oftentimes difficult shift to finally loving and accepting yourself.   - How to overcome lack consciousness. Iyanla struggled with finances even when she was earning over a million dollars a year! She'll share why you need to shift your energy and beliefs around money in order to be able to create abundance, regardless of how much you're earning.   - And much more!   This is a heartfelt, laugh-out-loud video that I know you'll love.    This audio, pulled from the video interview conducted with Iyanla, is part of the pre-event video series for the upcoming 16th Annual Tapping World Summit.  To access the other videos in the pre-event video series and to get free access to the full 10 days of the online event for free, go here.    —------------------------------- To go deeper with Tapping, download The Tapping Solution App for FREE on iOS and Android.   Download on iOS or Android: https://thetappingsolution.onelink.me/LtOO/tspodcast   Featuring over 600+ EFT Tapping Meditations, numerous Active Transformational Meditations, soothing Sleep Journeys, engaging Tapping Challenges, and more, The Tapping Solution app is your ultimate companion for eliminating stress & embracing a more vibrant life with Tapping. The Keto Vegan

Welcome to another episode of The Keto Vegan, the podcast where I delve into the world of Keto Veganism and navigate the challenges of festive celebrations. I'm your host Rachel, and today I'm tackling a timely topic: surviving the Christmas holidays with our keto and vegan principles intact. In this episode, I'll be your guide through the seasonal maze, exploring the importance of planning ahead to maintain your dietary goals, strategies for coping with social pressure and resisting temptations, and the powerful tool of mindfulness to keep you centred amidst the holiday hustle. So, grab your favourite keto-friendly snack and join us on this journey to not just survive but thrive through the Christmas festivities. Let's dive into the heart of the season and discover how to make it a joyous and fulfilling experience while staying true to your Keto Vegan lifestyle.   So many personal health benefits of following this diet, as well as the environmental benefits of course.  Health benefits include: For example, studies have observed that vegans have a 75% lower risk of developing high blood pressure and up to a 78% risk reduction of type 2 diabetes. What's more, vegans tend to weigh less than non-vegans, and those who adopt vegan diets are more successful at losing weight than people who eat animal products. The keto diet is well known for its effectiveness in weight loss, blood sugar control and reduced heart disease risk factors. A study in 58 obese children and teens showed that participants following a ketogenic diet lost significantly more weight and fat mass than those on a low-calorie diet. Ketogenic diets have also been shown to reduce heart disease risk factors, including high triglycerides, blood pressure and “bad” LDL cholesterol   Planning ahead is absolutely vital. Highly likely you'll get cravings especially when confronted with so much non keto food. Visualisation can be essential – when wake up, visualise self being in control, powerful, happy, proud of yourself.  How I'm planning ahead – I find vegan is easy, the keto bit is the more challenging especially as I'm entertaining and have opened up the food list to all who are coming! What I'm planning to give me a fighting chance! Seed crackers, I've bought some vegan cheese from I Am NUT OK – some carb counts are high but others OK. I have a food list with carbs, fat, protein listed that I'm always editing – send me a screenshot that you follow my podcast and you can have access to it for free. keto desserts such as raspberry cream pie (episode #23), roast celeriac, roast Jerusalem artichokes, Jerusalem artichoke is a rich source of complex carbs and, although high in natural sugars, has minimal effect on blood sugar levels. Jerusalem artichokes also offer a bit of protein, along with numerous vitamins and minerals. if I was bothered for stuffing – there's a link below, but I'd replace the sausage meat (this is an American recipe) with good old Beyond burgers defrosted and broken up. I'll be making cocktails but this is hard to make winter cocktails keto. Low carb and vegan snacks: cream cheese on seed crackers, or with low carb veg/crudites Coping with the social pressure and temptation This can be the hardest and most challenging part of it. You may well be judged.  How to cope with this? Be confident in your choices.  You're the one that's on this journey.  You have come to the decision to eat this way because of things that have happened in your past. You don't need to explain it to them either!  But, if you do – BE KIND. Be respectful of where they are at.  Don't get into a debate.  Don't do guilt trips (about the animals and environment). Most of us were also meat eaters in our pasts, I know my head was in the proverbial sand for such a long time and at the right moment I saw the right documentary that changed my life (more on this in Episode 1).  Who are we to judge?  If we are quick to judge others it tells us a lot about ourselves. Talking of judging – set yourself realistic goals, track your progress – you can use urinalysis strips for this, find a healthy way to reward yourself for the effort you put in.   Mindfulness What are your triggers? Breathe. Set a random alarm through the day – to check in with yourself..  I use a free app called RemindMe Play Store - image of a blue alarm clock with a red dice in front of it just in case you want to find this yourself. Afformations – Noah St. John book and idea. Uses questions instead of “I am” statements. 4 steps to creating a new you using afformations. Identify what you want and write it down Form this into a ‘why' question that assumes what you want is already true. Give yourself to the question. Don't answer it, focus on what you have, let your brain look for the answer. Read the Q, write it, say it, listen to it. Take new actions (action is vital) based on your new assumptions about life. Guided meditations – can be found on my YouTube channel @RachelGhinn – I'm a hypnotherapist, therapist and life coach so use this channel to post free visualisations and meditations. I'm also a secondary school teacher and have put on a few visualisations for my students. “I am enough” Could try Tapping – I found Jessica Ortner's book “The Tapping Solution for Weight Loss and Body Confidence” helpful – I listened to it rather than read it which meant I could go through the tapping processes with her.   Finally – When you're hungry, eat. Eat what you keto vegan want, Eat consciously. When you think you're full - STOP. In this fascinating interview, Dr Peta Stapelton, 2019 Australian Psychologist of the year, and global EFT expert, so generously shares the process of becoming a Hay House author. She recounts the moment, standing in the foyer at a conference, that Dr Joe Dispenza told her to write the book that would become The Science Behind Tapping. Peta is honest about the struggles she faced bringing this book to the world, including facing down criticism from her colleague and how to do justice to such a vast field. I was hooked on every word and so awed by the openness and warmth of this world leader. Peta is committed to bringing EFT to the mainstream and changing the landscape of psychological practice. This is a truly inspiring conversation on what happens when we decide to take personal action towards leading a revolution. Biography: Dr Peta Stapleton is a registered clinical/health Psychologist and Associate Professor, Bond University (Australia) who embraces evidence-based and innovative techniques. Peta is a world-leading researcher in Emotional Freedom Techniques (‘Tapping') and led a world first study investigating brain changes after EFT. She was awarded the Harvey Baker Research Award for meticulous research (Association of Comprehensive Energy Psychology), and was named 2019 Psychologist of the Year (Australian Allied Health Awards). Peta has authored The Science Behind Tapping: A Proven Stress Management Technique for the Mind and Body (Hay House), which won Best Self-Help Book (2019 Best Book Awards, American Book Fest). Book: The Science Behind Tapping: A Proven Stress Management Technique for the Mind and Body This book presents the research and evidence behind Emotional Freedom Technique in an easy-to-read manner and also offers client stories of their experiences. Emotional Freedom Techniques, or simply EFT, is a powerful way to deal with unresolved issues, transform beliefs, and reprogram yourself for greater happiness and success. Commonly called "tapping," EFT has been utilized by thousands of people worldwide. If you're holding this book, you've probably tried it at least once--or heard about it from a friend. EFT researcher and author Peta Stapleton, Ph.D., brings together the history and cutting-edge research of tapping. She also shows how tapping can be used for a whole host of ailments, including anxiety, weight issues, depression, trauma, and more. Dr. Stapleton's own groundbreaking study involving food cravings in overweight adults helped establish EFT as an effective, valid form of therapy. In The Science behind Tapping, you'll come away with a deeper understanding of what EFT is and how it can help you. The book starts with a beginner's guide to EFT, which includes tapping statements and phrases, as well as helpful charts showing the location of tapping acupoints on the face and upper body. After taking you through its many uses, Dr. Stapleton also explores the common obstacles to success with EFT--and how to combat them. In this episode we discuss: What happens when Reid Tracy, CEO of Hay House personally calls to ask you to write a book How to find the right tone for your book to speak to your audience Why printing a mock-up of your book cover will help you get it done (and Jessica Ortner thinks so too!) Avital is a director, writer, comedian, actress who was brought up as a Hassidic Jew in Miami. At about 7, she learned that her mom wasn't her biological mother, and that her birth mother committed suicide. Sound like good comedy material? As a comic she refers to it with jokes like this “My biological mom committed suicide when I was a baby, which I know sounds sad. But I was a really bad baby.” She talks about finding the way in to stuff that is painful and dark through comedy. In this epsiode we talk about everything from reactions to medication, to Hassidic rules about salt and not shaking hands with women who have their period; to the misogyny in the community to directing her latest web series Antisocial Distance https://www.antisocialdistance.com/, which is really good and interesting; a great cast with actors like Steven Weber and Rose McIver. And Avital has been in all kinds of shows as an actress, currently on FX's CAKE, and has over 50 million views for her digital videos. Jennifer gives us a number of skills that you can do for all kinds of life siutations; and one in particular that involves the belly button and sounds very strange; and yet works. In our Western culture, it’s no secret that there’s a pill for every ill. And while there’s certainly a time and a place for conventional medicine, it’s important that we recognize the multitude of healing modalities that are available to us. Unfortunately, we live in a culture that considers holistic healing practices radical or far out, but the truth is that many healing practices are thousands of years old and have science to affirm them.  Specifically, acupressure treatments are rooted in traditional Chinese medicine. In acupressure therapy, pressure is applied to certain meridian points to essentially turn on the body’s natural healing mechanisms. With a 2000+ year track record, this healing method is certainly something worth considering.  Today’s guest, Jessica Ortner is a New York Times Bestselling Author, producer, and creator of the Tapping Solution Meditation App. Jessica is here to share the fascinating data on tapping and how it can be used to heal anxiety, body image, inflammation, and so much more. I hope this episode inspires you to think outside the box and to approach healing in a holistic way. Enjoy!  In this episode you’ll discover: What acupressure is, and its history.  The experience that exposed Jessica to tapping. How our emotions can manifest physically in our bodies.  The importance of acknowledging your feelings.  Why achievement and anxiety are often linked.  How relaxation can help you tap into your intuition.  What EFT stands for.  How tapping actually works.  The importance of the psychological aspect of tapping. What the Subjective Units of Distress Scale is. Why we don’t need stress and panic in order to change. How tapping can change your emotions around cravings. Why poor body image is often a generational issue. How tapping can influence the expression of genes.  The influence that tapping can have on immunity and inflammation. Where anxiety comes from, and the importance of helping our bodies feel safe. JOY is a choice and that's where we've started our continuing conversation: 7 Habits I've Adopted Since Choosing JOY! And this third habit points the light on surrendering. When we DO, DO MORE and OVERdo til we're hustled out and still not getting anywhere, it's time to slow down, and sit with open palms in surrender. -------------------- On Tools of Life, we offer you something to ponder, something to practice, and something to play with. My clients often say things like "I am of two minds" or "My head is telling me one thing but my heart is telling me something else." It's difficult to move forward if we feel we are being pulled in multiple directions! To help navigate this, I have created what I call the Grounding Process. It is designed to move you from feeling scattered to being fully grounded by connecting your mind, heart, and physical body to your higher self. This is one of my favorite processes and I teach it in my advanced classes as an example of both guided imagery and parts work. I do this process myself at least once a week. The first time I did it I was amazed at the information my system gave me. A number of years ago Jessica Ortner of the Tapping Insiders Club interviewed me about the process. We then did the process together, so that you can tap right along with it. Anxiety can get in the way of patients achieving their health goals—especially when a practitioner recommends significant lifestyle and nutrition changes. Patients may feel suffocated by the new regimen and then make changes for a while but revert back—or they may not make them at all. The Emotional Freedom Technique, also known as tapping, can help patients ease anxiety and better achieve their health goals. It can also help with the subjective experience of pain or be used in service of a specific health goal, like overcoming weight loss resistance. In this podcast, Dr. Fitzgerald talks to Jessica Ortner, author of The Tapping Solution for Weight Loss & Body Confidence, about how tapping could help patients in a functional-medicine clinic setting. And, together, they walk step-by-step through a round of tapping so listeners can hear how it’s done (and follow along).

Background When Jessica was introduced to tapping by her brother, Nick Ortner, she was absolutely blown away by its effectiveness. An “over-thinker” since childhood, Jessica describes how she struggled to use positive affirmations and other techniques to shift her brain’s way of thinking. Like many of us, the anxiety and worry that clouded her mind not only affected her brain but she felt it throughout her whole body. Since tapping helps to relieve the physical symptoms associated with anxiety, Jessica found that it worked to quiet her mind but also to calm her body and reduce the corresponding physical stress. She and her brother became proficient in using tapping and eventually filmed a documentary where they brought in experts and followed ten people to chronicle their success using this technique. This video documentary has been widely used by tapping followers to demonstrate how it is done and to teach and inspire others. Jessica explains, “Tapping is a stress relieving technique to do while focusing on what’s causing you anxiety while tapping on acupuncture points”. Our ancestors needed to have that flight or fight response to stay alive; producing physical strength and increased cortisol. Then we evolved, and although our fears are normal everyday things like our jobs and family life, our bodies continue to react in the same way as our ancestors did – with a physical reaction. Our heart begins to race, we start sweating, our stomach might start to turn and our whole body will be in a stressed state. Although our mind will usually start to rationalize with a positive outlook, it is the body’s natural reaction is to keep us safe, so the physical symptoms remain. “We are wired to have a negative bias to keep us safe”, Jessica explains. We need to train both our body and our mind that it’s safe to relax, but first we must get clear on what is causing the stress and access the pressure points at the same time to help us relax. When we tap on these acupressure points, it calms us physically. Naturally, we do things with our hands when we’re anxious anyways. For example, when we’re tense and press our fingers in between the eyes at the top of the nose or on our temples, we do this to comfort ourselves. Now we’re using these points and stimulating them by tapping and while doing so, we focus on a thought, it sends a calming signal to our brain that tells us it’s okay to relax. From the age of 14, Jessica struggled with her weight. She was “brainwashed” by believing the only way to lose weight was by diet and exercise. She was caught in an endless cycle of Yo-Yo Dieting and what she calls a “Pattern of Panic”. The panic state would be caused by an unflattering photograph or an upcoming event that would propel her to start another fad diet or exercise program. She would follow a strict set of rules about what to eat and actions to follow but this structure was exhausting and Jessica would always find herself resorting back to her old self-sabotaging and rebellious behavior. She explains, “The panic does make us take action but it is never sustainable. You don’t have to be in a state of panic to make changes like many of us have been taught to believe. It’s when we completely accept ourselves that change becomes sustainable.” Jessica had an epiphany when she realized that she had achieved success with her tapping education and her books, but this success did not carry over to her struggle with her weight. It was then she realized that she had been using tapping for everything except weight loss. “When you make weight the excuse to not be happy, sometimes we don’t want to let go of that excuse. Doing new things is still scary, expansion doesn’t have to be so terrifying that you freeze but there’s a level of vulnerability when you do something new. When you hold onto an excuse your whole life there comes a moment when you begin to sabotage yourself because success becomes scarier than failure”. Jessica concluded that her weight was not the boundary but more importantly it was her self-loathing and condemnation she had about her body image. She shares two important concepts: It’s easy to take care of something you value. The more you hate on your body the more stuck you are in that. Many times, we think of food as a reward but when you value yourself, you’ll pay a lot more attention to what your body needs. It’s okay to indulge in wine or chocolate on occasion but to do it in a loving nurturing way and not to escape an emotion. Diets have a time frame – 30 days for example, but what happens on day 31? It makes much more sense to be on an “experiment”. The difference between a diet and an experiment is that an experiment is continual and flexible, but a diet has an end date or an “I’m exhausted date”. It takes experimentation to get your body adjusted off the inflammatory foods while working on the mind so that you can make healthy choices moving forward. Our bodies are continually aging and changing, and we need to adapt and learn what works for our bodies every single day. Every body is different; what works for one person may not work for someone else. “If you’re waiting for someone to give you the answer for your perfect body, you’re never going to get there”. Jessica says, “You have to go within.” Jessica points out it's important to know that foods are designed to be addictive so we need not blame ourselves entirely. There’s a physical component of course but we’re sometimes looking for comfort or a familiar connection that makes us think we need to eat or have that daily glass or bottle of wine. Our brains are wired to have a positive outcome – to take care of us now; that is why we sometimes act in ways that bring a negative outcome even when that was not our intention. These acts which we think are going to be enjoyable, often create the opposite result. Jessica offers a great quote by fellow tapping practitioner, Brad Yates, “Self-sabotage is simply misguided self-love”. When people understand where they’re at and can be present in that stress, they can use techniques like tapping to free themselves of their negative behaviors. “It’s easy to focus on what’s not working but when we make it fun we can make it last; happiness is an adventure”, Jessica exclaims. We must intentionally reverse our brain’s natural reactions to make positive, sustainable changes. Christa recommends an awesome book on this subject, Presence-Process-Healing-Journey-Awareness, by Michael Brown. Steps to Transform with Tapping Jessica leads us in a tapping demonstration (view the video for a visual instruction). Tap on a craving Think about what makes your mouth water (salty chips, sugary chocolate, wine?) Let the craving intensify and notice where you feel the craving (mouth, chest, stomach?) Rate the craving level from 1-10, with 10 being the highest most intense level Set-up Statement: helps neutralize judgement. “This is how I feel and it’s okay”  The Tapping Points Side of the hand (doesn’t matter what side of hand) Eyebrow (right on the bone on the inside where the hair begins) Side of the eye (on bone) Under eye (follow bone underneath eye) Underneath nose Underneath lip (at crease between lip and chin) U-shaped bone on collarbone (tapping with whole hand on your chest also stimulates that point) Underneath the arm (hand with underneath the armpit, at bra strap for ladies) Top of the head Begin with the side of the hand and make an affirmation statement like: “Even though I’m craving this wine, I accept myself and how I feel. Even though I really want this wine because it’s been a long day, I accept myself and how I feel. Even though I’m really craving this wine, that is okay.” Continue to give a voice to the craving. Eyebrow – This craving for this wine. Side of the eye – This craving in my chest. Underneath the eye – This intense desire for wine. Nose – I really want it right now. Chin – I’m craving this wine. Collar bone – My whole body wants this wine. Underneath the arm – This intense craving is so strong. Head – I’m fighting this craving I feel like I am losing, I really want this wine. It’s been a long day and I really want this wine. Repeat and affirm reasoning Side of hand – It’s been a long day. Eyebrow – I have a lot to think about and have a lot on my plate right now. Side of the eye – I give myself permission to relax. Nose – With or without the wine. Chin – I give myself permission to relax. Collarbone- Even though it’s been a long day. Head – I give Permission to relax now and to take a break. Take a deep breath in and while tuning in to your solar plexus notice has this craving shifted and do you feel still the same tension? Most often, the craving is reduced or lifted completely! When you’re in a relaxed, focused state, that’s when you can access all the wisdom you already possess. Through tapping you can access that connection you have with foods or alcohol which many of us are usually just not aware of those patterns. From where you are you can’t see it, but when you’re relaxed and not in a panic state you’ll recognize and understand what drives your cravings and learn how to not allow them to control your behavior. July 14, 2016 “You can’t hate yourself happy, and you can’t criticize yourself thin, and you can’t shame yourself healthy. That’s the strategy that so many women are using and it’s important to address the emotional side of weight loss and to take a different approach.” –Jessica Ortner Who am I to take care of myself when so many people depend on me? I hear this all the time. The fact is that self-care is not a reward. It is an essential ingredient to living, to surviving, to having a healthy life. “Tapping” is a technique I use myself of literally tapping with your fingers on acupressure points in order to relax your body and/or change your mindset. It is useful for alleviating cravings, stress, anxiety, and much more. Tapping expert Jessica Ortner stopped by the podcast to explain how tapping can help a woman understand the motivation behind certain behaviors and consciously reprogram her response. Listen as we discuss: The practice of tapping and how to begin The critical importance of self-care and pleasure Why we feel that we need to practice diet and deprivation The reason behind the clenching feeling in our stomach, back pain, or insomnia.

Have you ever felt off? You know, just struggling with nothing in particular, but never knowing what’s wrong with you? Can you see my hand raised high above my head?! We’ve all been there! My conversation with Jessica Ortner totally made sense of this feeling by framing it in a different way. When we feel nervous or anxious, most times it’s not just in our heads – we experience it in our whole body. When you have a stressful thought, she emphasizes the importance of talking through these feelings (you don’t have to be Suzy Sunshine all the time) and acknowledging them through tapping. After all, when your body feels more relaxed, you’re able to take control again. So what is this tapping thing anyway? Not to be confused with tap dancing, tapping is a technique that uses your fingertips to tap the body’s acupressure points and literally “tap into” your body’s own energy and healing power. Say what? Jessica also questioned the effectiveness of this practice. Years ago, while suffering from what was a seemingly endless cold, her brother introduced her to tapping. Where did he learn about it? The Internet. Oh boy. How much truth could there be to this? But here’s the thing – it was no joke and it actually helped her. A bit further down the road, it also helped her realize that her issues with her body weight were more deeply rooted. It wasn’t just physical. It wasn’t about a number. It was emotional. “We have to release that stress and create a better relationship with ourselves.” So what better way to understand this process than by experiencing it firsthand. I was selfishly glad for the timing of this podcast so I could use it for my own personal benefit (in addition to yours). ;-) During this podcast, Jessica took me through a complete tapping sequence so we could work through my anxiety and fear around my upcoming public speaking engagement (TEDTalk). I would love for you to do the sequence and insert the issue that is currently challenging you. Jessica calls it “borrowing benefits,” because you can still make a connection just by the human experience. (Love that!) Here Are the Steps/Points: Point 1: Start with your Set-Up Statement (Even though I… I accept myself and how I feel.) Now, start tapping on the side of your hand, underneath the pinkie (the karate chop point). It doesn’t matter which side you tap on. Point 2: Move to the start of your eyebrow, right on the bone. Point 3: Follow the brow bone to the outside and tap the side of your eye bone. Point 4: Underneath the eye. Point 5: Underneath the nose. Point 6: Chin (right under your mouth) Point 7: Collarbone (Jessica uses her whole hand here) Point 8: Underneath arm (bra strap area on women) Point 9: Top of the head. During the tapping process, Jessica stresses that the words aren’t super important, it’s the act of speaking your feelings aloud. You’re not going to do anything “wrong.” “It’s not about the perfect word, it’s about staying with the emotion.” Let me tell you, the tapping sequence took my anxiety and fear level from an 8 to a 2 or 3! Amazing, right? If you’re going through something, I encourage you to try it and see if it helps. It’s definitely worth a try to change your energy from nervousness to excitement. “When it comes to how our body reacts there’s not that much difference between anxiety and excitement.” I am so grateful that she helped me shift my fear into that space of excitement. And I love that tapping can apply to ANY area of your life – not just public speaking. Having gone through the experience above, how could tapping benefit you? -- JESSICA ORTNER is the NY Times bestselling author of “The Tapping Solution for Weight Loss and Body Confidence” and producer of The Tapping Solution, the breakthrough documentary film on EFT tapping.. Background When Jessica was introduced to tapping by her brother, Nick Ortner, she was absolutely blown away by its effectiveness. An “over thinker” since childhood, Jessica describes how she struggled to use positive affirmations and other techniques to shift her brain’s way of thinking. We need to train both our body and our mind that it’s safe to relax but first we must get clear on what is causing the stress and access the pressure points at the same time to help us relax. Its makes much more sense to be on an “experiment”. Jessica says, “You have to go within.” Jessica points out its important to know that foods are designed to be addictive so we need not blame ourselves entirely. “This is how I feel and it’s okay”  The Tapping Points Side of the hand (doesn’t matter what side of hand) Eyebrow (right on the bone on the inside where the hair begins) Side of the eye (on bone) Under eye (follow bone underneath eye) Underneath nose Underneath lip (at crease between lip and chin) U-shaped bone on collar bone (tapping with whole hand on your chest also stimulates that point) Underneath the arm (hand with underneath the armpit, at bra strap for ladies) Top of the head Begin with the side of the hand and make an affirmation statement like: “Even though I’m craving this wine, I accept myself and how I feel. My guest, Jessica Ortner, will explain how Tapping works, and how it can make a difference in any area where you are struggling, from chronic pain to changing your thinking about money! What is Tapping? How can it help with my physical and emotional issues? Tapping is a combination of ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology. In this episode, Jessica Ortner teaches us basic Tapping techniques and even guides us through a sample session. She talks about the science behind Tapping and how it works, and explains how Tapping affects your brain and its response to stressors. If you have chronic issues that you would like to see resolved, you definitely want to listen to today's podcast! Tapping uses nine acupressure points on your upper body, combined with speaking out loud about whatever stressor you are addressing. In this episode, Jessica Ortner explains where these points are and how to tap them. In the sample Tapping session, she guides us through the kind of things we need to say as we tap. Tapping is an amazing technique to help release pent-up emotions and negative thoughts that affect our bodies and keep us from being healthy. Listen to this episode and learn one more tool that will help you on the road to optimal health! While Tapping, we make statements about whatever pain or issue is troubling us. Some may wonder what the difference is between tapping and just venting our problems. In this episode, Jessica Ortner talks about how Tapping actually creates a calming signal to your brain and lets out your frustration instead of magnifying it the way that just venting does. The Love Series: This particular week has an interesting twist. Both my podcast topic and my life have collided. This collision comes in the form of a statement, “The quality of answers you get is directly related to the quality of questions you ask.” If you want better answers, you must ask better questions. This week, I was able to sit with Cole Hatter (my first podcast guest) and review the direction of the next six months of what I want to accomplish, solely for him to ask questions that I am not thinking to ask. And on this week's podcast with Jessica Ortner, we discuss that very thing about love. How to ask yourself different questions regarding what you believe to be true about relationships. If you can't come up with any, last Monday's episode may help. It is my hope that you find this mid-week podcast – even more inspiration to make your dream a reality, and to be inspired to make a difference. Jessica Ortner is a producer of The Tapping Solution, the breakthrough documentary film on EFT/meridian tapping (www.TheTappingSolution.com). She has led more than 3,000 women through her revolutionary Weight Loss and Body Confidence online program, and she is also the host of The Tapping World Summit, an annual online event that has attracted more than 500,000 attendees from around the world. She has been interviewing experts in the personal development field since 2007, having conducted over more than 200 broadcast interviews to date.  She is also a New York Times best selling author of http://www.amazon.com/Tapping-Solution-Weight-Loss-Confidence/dp/1401945112 (The Tapping Solution for Weight Loss & Body Confidence).   Have you always known that you wanted to do what you are doing now? I didn’t even know that I would wind up where I am 5 years ago.  As a child growing up I had a lot of insecurity, but I had a little voice that knew I was here to do something great. How did “Tapping” come into your life? After college I wanted to do something different, and things just weren’t coming together the way I thought they would.  I then became sick with this flu that wouldn’t go away.  My brother Nick had me try tapping and all of the sudden I realized I didn’t want to get better.  Since nothing was going my way, I just wanted to take a break from life.  At that point when I began to honor that truth and I felt a shift while tapping, by honoring that voice.  And at that point I started to get better.  That was the introduction.  Months later with a relationship break-up, I tried tapping again and I knew then that this really worked.  And its was something I could do on my own.  At the end of the day tapping relieves stress – and from that point we can heal, make better decisions, and see possibilities we couldn’t see otherwise. What are common blocks to love that you have seen when working with people? Pay attention to the patterns.  Past relationships can give us clues as to what we believe about relationships.  For example, if you believe that you have to give up more than you will gain, it is likely you will push love or the relationship away.  Another, is the way we look at dating.  By putting pressure as though the first date should lead to a ring sets us up for failure.  Instead look at dating as merely being present and not judging the date as a pro and con list. Click the link to learn more about Tapping.  How to do it and why it works, as well as instructional videos with Jessica and Nick Ortner: http://www.thetappingsolution.com (The Tapping Solution)   What about when love doesn’t show up when we want it to? There are two souls involved.  Let go of control and have faith in the process in the spiritual journey.  You are meant to meet when it is right for BOTH of you.   Best advise: It’s a mantra: “I am exactly where I’m meant to be.”  What you are experiencing in this moment is exactly what you are meant to go through for your highest good.   What do you believe to be true? We are being taken care of by something greater than ourselves.   To connect with Jessica Ortner:  http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/adventures-in-happiness-jessica/id976861197?mt=2 (Adventures in Happiness Podcast), and http://thetappingsolution.com (The Tapping Solution) (download a free tapping mediation) and Facebook.com/Jessica Ortner   Thanks for Listening and Subscribing! The Love Series: I decided to do this series for the three weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day.  Now whether or not you buy into the commercialism of love that is celebrated this time of year, is really not the point.  It’s a great reason to talk about something that means a great deal, and that is… love.  I hope you had a chance to listen to my interview Monday with PJ Dixon, as we talk about “love at first sight” and what it takes to truly be present so you can allow someone into your heart.  I also preview Jessica Ortner, from http://thetappingsolution.com (The Tapping Solution), which is one of my favorite interviews I have ever done.  This conversation has the ability to not only transform your relationships, but also how you look at the relationship with yourself. I also cover my trials and tribulations from my personal life and my journey in podcasting.  This week was fairly tame, but I’m sure it won’t stay that way for long!  I would also like to give a huge shout out to http://kerryheaps.com (Kerry Heaps), my head of marketing, for getting me booked on several upcoming podcast’s!  You can find those shows under the “press” tab on this website. In Feb 2015, I did a 5-day symposium consisting of 25 interviews with powerful and inspiring women sharing their stories and advice for transcending life’s struggles, fears and doing it their own way. We got so much incredible feedback on the interviews, we decided to turn it into a podcast. At times during the interviews when you hear us refer to the series or interviews that have already been done, keep in mind these interviews have been repurposed and may not follow the original order – but stay tuned because we’ll be airing four each month on Mondays alternating with fresh new episodes called “Ask Liz” every Wednesday. New podcast up today with Jessica Ortner talking about The Tapping Solution: what it is and how it works, body confidence, and a healthy way to approach negative feelings and emotions without bypassing the experience. Not bypassing the experience is so important, I did this for many years unknowingly because I was "misusing" the power of positive thinking. About Jessica Ortner: Jessica Ortner is a co-producer of the breakthrough documentary film on EFT / Meridian Tapping, “The Tapping Solution.” For the past eight years, Jessica has traveled the world working with and training under many of the leaders in the field of personal development. She is trained as an NLP Master Practitioner and is certified in hypnosis. She combines her experience in the field with her knowledge of tapping to create tap-along audios that have been used by thousands of people around the world, with great results. Jessica is the host, and creates content for, The Tapping Insiders Club (www.TappingInsidersClub.com) and is also the host of the annual Tapping World summit. In this episode, Jessica shares: 1. The Tapping Solution: what it is and how it works 2. Body confidence 3. A healthy way to approach negative feelings and emotions without bypassing the experience

Today in Wonderland I have the honor of sharing my  WWRadio conversation with the amazing Jessica Ortner. Jessica is a producer of the documentary film on EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique, AKA tapping), “ The Tapping Solution,” and her first book will be published by Hay House  in 2014.  She is one of the most authentic people I’ve ever spoken with and her genuine kindness shine through this entire podcast. I’m so excited for you to hear all the grounded wisdom she gives me and practical advice on everything from emotional eating, listening to people, and productivity. I really think the world of her & I know you will adore Jessica as much as I do after listening. WARNING: Things get REAL real at the end when I get super authentic and Jessica leads me through a real time tap. So be sure to stick around to the end of the Podcast so you can hear how tapping is done and how honest, real, and specific you need to be to get the most benefit from it. My favorite lines & nuggets of wisdom: YEP THEY’RE TWEETABLES… “When I first started running, sometimes I’d walk and I didn’t judge myself. I was getting out there and moving my body, that’s what mattered”  @JessicaOrtner via #WWRadio w/  @katiedalebout “With exercise be willing to allow yourself to get to certain points, if you’re not enjoying it you won’t do it.”  @JessicaOrtner via #WWRadio w/  @katiedalebout “We don’t just feel emotions in our brain, we feel them in our bodies. “ @JessicaOrtner via #WWRadio w/  @katiedalebout “Tapping is a communication between our bodies and our minds.”  @JessicaOrtner via #WWRadio w/  @katiedalebout “You can’t figure out the answers until you start, you have to get off the bench and play the game.”  @JessicaOrtner via #WWRadio w/  @katiedalebout “be flexible because the solution will appear when you start going down the path.”   @JessicaOrtner via #WWRadio w/  @katiedalebout “If you’re waiting to never be scared to take action you’re never going to get anywhere because part of growing is getting out of your comfort zone.”  @JessicaOrtner via #WWRadio w/  @katiedalebout TIPS: Use a kitchen timer to help keep yourself on task and make sure you don’t burn out. When writing her book or doing something creative, Jessica suggested working for 1 hour and then when that’s over she’d make herself stop even if she was on a roll, so she didn’t burn out. & using this app helps too! In Business, be okay with putting things out that aren’t perfect and making mistakes. And in the moment be flexible with changing things that don’t work.
