ré·su·mé [rez-oo-mey, rez-oo-mey] noun1. a summing up; summary. 2. a brief written account of personal, educational, and professional qualifications and experience, as that prepared by an applicant for a job. In Comic Reader Résumé, I use Mike's Amazing World of Comics to travel back through time via his virtual newsstand to the genesis point of my lifelong collecting of comics. From there, I can offer a “work history” of my fandom through my active purchasing of (relatively) new comic books beginning in January of 1982, when my interest in the medium went from sporadic and unformed to routine on through compulsive accumulation. To streamline the narrative and keep the subjects at least remotely contemporaneous, I will not generally be discussing what we call back issues: books bought long after their publication date. Sometimes, I will cover a book published on a given month that I picked up within a year or so that date, and I give myself an especially wide berth on this aspect in the first couple of “origins” episodes. We'll get more rigidly on point as my memories crystallize and my “hobby” spirals out of control into the defining characteristic of my life (eventually outpacing squalor and competing neuroses.) It's part personal biography, part industry history, and admittedly totally self-indulgent on my part. This episode includes Classic X-Men #6, D.P. 7 #3, Daredevil #240, Marvel Saga #15, The 'Nam #3, New Mutants #49, Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition #15, Spitfire and the Troubleshooters #5, Strikeforce: Morituri #4, Uncanny X-Men #214, West Coast Avengers #18, X-Factor #13, and more! “Transcripts” Early November, 1986 Late November, 1986 Twitter #CRRésumé? rolledspinepodcasts@gmail.com Comment on Résumé page or Rolled Spine Podcasts. Jim suggests people read the books:Betting On The Africans by Philip E. Muehlenbeck. JFK: Ordeal in Africa by Richard D. Mahoney, The Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. King Leopold's Ghost by Adam Hochschild, Who Killed Hammerskjold? by Susan Williams. CAPA conference in Dallas approaching fast! September 27th is the 60th anniversary of the release of the Warren Commission. NBC & CBS ran special programming the day the Warren Commission released CBS coached the witnesses before being recorded. 26 volumes of hearing transcripts & depositions released two months later. When JFK was assassinated, 75% of the public believed the government, this decreased steadily. Many people don't know how much Kennedy supported & cared about the independence of Africa. JFK was the first President to campaign on the behalf of Africa, making his famous speech in 1957. JFK chairman of the subcommittee for the African Foreign Relations committee. In just 50 years of Belgium control, 50% of the African population was eliminated. England, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Spain, France & Portugal all had controlling interests by 1900's. Berlin Conference held by Prince Bismark in 1884 significant in organized takeover. Congo was the 2nd largest country in Africa, & the 11th largest country in the world. International Congo Society formed by Leopold II, in his quest to obtain natural resources of Congo. Congo controlled by Leopold II from 1885-1908 & then annexed by Belgium as a formal colony. Leopold II encouraged US to back up annexation of Congo. Ho Chi Minh appealed to Harry Truman to stop France from returning to Vietnam. Roosevelt wanted to end the Imperialism. US backed CIA installed DIEM government & Operation Vulture. Richard Nixon idolized John Foster Dulles. In 1954 JFK first heard about Operation Vulture & was vehemently opposed. SEATO - South East Treaty Organization created by Dulles to utilize in takeover of Vietnam. Diplomats started to go around Dulles & Eisenhower, seeking out JFK to help with Africa. When JFK was touring in 1959, he brought up the issues in Africa often, over 400 times. Eisenhower felt the Africans were unsophisticated & lacked intelligence to run their countries. After Kennedy was elected, he tried to buy independence for the Congo. Dag Hammarskjold sent in UN troops to help protect Lumumba but to no avail. After Lumumba was assassinated, Hammarskjold was assassinated & then JFK. When Belgium pulled out of Congo, their intention was a swift withdrawal to incite extreme chaos. Unknown to Lumumba, the Belgium government had transferred Congo gold reserve to Brussels. Oliver Stone originally wanted Brando for the part of Mr. X in his JFK movie, not Donald Sutherland. Both Garrison & Zach Sklar told Oliver Stone to get in contact with Fletcher Prouty. Donald Sutherland the original producer of Executive Action, securing funding for the film. Sutherland came all the way from Canada to do the narration for Oliver Stone's JFK film. Late November of 1964, the 1st combat troops sent to Vietnam Kennedy told the British that he would not be backing the Imperial Policy anymore. The CIA sent two assassins to murder Lumumba. They kept the murder of Lumumba secret from JFK. Why? Famous photo of JFK taken on February 13, 1961 as JFK informed about Lumumba's murder. When JFK was assassinated, his Congo policy was buried with him.
Cam's back from his one month sabbatical and creating commentaries again. This one he simply calls Gettin' Lucky. ----- Dr Suchan Shenoy is one of the regulars at Restaurant Five in Tuscaloosa on Saturday mornings. I join the regulars when I'm in town visiting my son who is a sophomore at the University. Dr Shenoy is an OBGYN at the DCH Hospital there. He and I sat together and we made some small talk. I don't know any of the regulars well, but I enjoy their company when I'm in town. Dr Shenoy could relate to my situation. I was a new guy sitting amongst a group of old friends in their familiar place, not knowing exactly what to say or do. I don't have any background with them and the conversation can run pretty slow and thin. Dr Shenoy mentioned that when he's at a party or an event and the content runs thin, he brings up some things he sees around the hospital. Odd baby names. Things new parents have done. Stuff like that. Lots of people can enjoy those stories. Lots of people find them interesting. He mentioned that the maternity ward at the hospital had an unexpected surge of newborns in late July and early August. It was strange, he said, since it wasn't a national trend or he would have heard about it. It appeared very local. DCH Hospital's normal rate was one or two babies a week and suddenly the numbers had doubled for a few weeks. Almost out of the blue, there were babies everywhere. Very local. Very isolated. We talked about how the hospital had managed the surge well. They were all hands-on deck for a little while. The surge in babies was, frankly, good for business and they knew it wouldn't last but, for a few weeks, everyone was in motion caring for the babies, the mothers, and dealing with the families. It was odd he said, and he couldn't figure out what had caused it. Not content to let it go, Dr Shenoy reverted to an old equation he had learned in medical school that helped Drs back in the day estimate due dates. It's called the Naegele Rule Calculator and it's not much used anymore since the today's computers are much easier to use and more accurate. However, using the Naegele Rule you can reverse the math and estimate a conception date. And the math zeroed in on November 25th. Late November last year. Thanksgiving? Not likely. They would have noticed a surge in previous years if it were Thanksgiving and it wouldn't have been isolated to the area. Then it occurred to him. In the late afternoon of Saturday, November 25th last year, with 43 seconds left in the game, Alabama's Jalen Milroe threw a bomb to the back left corner of the end-zone where it was caught by Isaiah Bond leading to Alabama's extraordinary come from behind win. The surge in babies Dr Shenoy was seeing were conceived that night. As Alabama fans taunted Auburn with “who's your daddy” well, it became clear to Dr Shenoy that lots of daddies were made that night. Apparently, lots of people, including the Crimson Tide football team, got lucky. I'm Cam Marston and I'm just trying to Keep It Real.

Late November, 2023 -- John C. Wester -- Archbishop of Sante Fe -- spoke at the Church of Our Savior at E. 38th Street and Park Avenue. About 200 were gathered to honor the 43rd anniversary of the death of Dorothy Day – and – to consider the abolition of nuclear weapons. At the United Nations that week the countries that signed the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons were meeting. The United States was not one of them. The day after Archbishop Wester spoke – I met with two people who have dedicated their lives to peace in our world -- Brian Terrell and granddaughter of Dorothy Day – Martha Hennessy. Both had been on BCR – Martha in connection with her KingsbayPlowshares 7 protest at the Trident Nuclear Submarine Base in Georgia for which she was incarcerated in a Federal Prison for over a year. And, I first met Brian Terrell in covering the Witness Against Torture protests in Washington D.C. of the continued U.S. detention of dozens of Muslim men in Guantanamo. And I have talked to Brian many times since about his work to prevent a nuclear catastrophe. When he is not protesting and getting arrested, Brian runs a goat farm in Malloy, Iowa.Alan Winson Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
So the heater didn't get fixed last spring. And we forgot about it because it was getting warmer. And now here we were in Late November, with a few freezing nights under our belt, and my wife's office is generally too cold. She had been using a space heater, but we knew that could not be the solution for the next few months: That would blow up our electric bill, and of course space heaters can be dangerous. After dragging our feet for a couple weeks, my wife finally called an HVAC technician with whom we'd worked last year. Almost as an afterthought, she asked him to just check on our furnace too while he's at our house. The technician shows up and takes a look at our radiant heater. And it's working. As in, nothing is wrong with it. There was no reason for us to call. It just works. It was not working before. Now it is. He shrugs and goes off to the furnace. He runs some tests, comes back upstairs and says the heat exchange is cracked on our furnace and it is blowing carbon monoxide all over the place. He says he thinks it's just blowing outside through the exhaust, have we noticed anything inside? Want to support our podcast? Late November and that means it's Thanksgiving holiday here in the US. Hard to believe that 2023 is beginning to reach its close. It's been snowing the past couple of days here in Loveland, Colorado. Time to browse through our motorcycling magazine and plan for rides on those nice days coming up. Yeah we do have a lot to be thankful don't we. This motorcycling thing that we're so crazy about, what a gift. Maybe now it's good timing to reflect back on some stories and interviews we've shared these past weeks. Seems that it wasn't that long ago that we reflected back on the first 20 episodes, starting with breakfast with a stranger on Route 66. I had no idea. No idea, that conversation in Gallop, New Mexico would turn as it did. I'll never forget that man. That was Episode 1. So if this podcast is new to you, maybe start with Episode 20 to hear summaries of the first 19. But for today, let's talk briefly about where we've been starting with Episode 21. Thank you for joining me today!

On today's episode of The Exodus Podcast, we are back in Iowa talking with repeat guest Steve Hanson. Steve has been hunting giant whitetails on his Iowa farm for years and has learned what to do and not to do when it comes to hunting the month of November. We discuss: Spending time in the summer to set up for success in the fall is crucial Shoot your bow every day during the hunting season Practicing with your bow regularly and shooting within your comfortable range is important Recognize when scrapes are no longer important for hunting mature bucks The week prior to Thanksgiving is an excellent time to hunt for mature bucks who are active during daylight hours Late November offers high-end mature bucks on their feet Late season hunting in December is focused on food sources and cold fronts High pressure and cold fronts are favorable conditions Experience plays a crucial role in making successful shots while hunting The first week of November is typically when most mature bucks are harvested Cherish and enjoy each hunting day as they are unique and limited Late October and the later part of November are often underestimated but can offer great hunting opportunities Be prepared for the mental grind and don't burn yourself out on bad days Utilize long-term weather forecasts to identify and conserve energy for optimal hunting conditions And so much more! In 1975, “Pampered Menial” was released to 5-star critical ratings. It was not a commercial success. However, in the years since, it has become a gem, possibly one of the greatest albums of the 70's! David Surkamp's surreal 4-octave voice has been compared to Robert Plant. Matched with Siegfried Carver's violin and Steve Scorfina's guitar, it creates a stunning work of art – intricate and majestic with guts and delicacy in equal measure. With this episode, we want to open more ears to an amazing piece of symphonic rock/metal. Our “Album you must hear before you Die” is 1974's “Crime of the Century” by Supertramp. Produced by Ken Scott of Bowie fame, this album is where their sound came together as a kind of Pink Floyd-lite. Mick and Jeff saw them live around this time where their light show was similar in many ways to the light/movie show Floyd toured in the mid-late ‘80's. Mick's comments on this album are quite contentious. Jeff wants to awaken listeners to the sport of extreme kayaking, with a proposal for a 970m drop over Angel Falls in Venezuela. Mick is not convinced. While they're about it, Mick and Jeff pay tribute to their teen broadcast heroes - Roy & HG who still address callers to their program “Bludging on the Blindside” with “Happy Rugby League” Enjoy! ____________________________________________________________ References: Roy & HG, Bludging on the Blindside, tandem kayaking, 1001 Albums You Must Hear before You Die, Robert Dimery, Crime of the Century, Supertramp, Bloody Well Right, Crime of the Century, Rick Davies, Roger Hogson, Dreamer, Pavlov's Dog, David Surkamp, Richard Nadler, Siegfried Carver, Steve Scorfina, Song Dance, Julia, Late November, Once and Future King, At The Sound of the Bell, She Came Shining, Yes, Bill Bruford, Roxy Music, Andy Mackay Pampered MenialEpisode PlaylistSkyaking

Late November has arrived and the fishing for striped bass has definitely slowed down. Nevertheless some My Fishing Cape Codders are still managing to catch a striper here and there. Giant bluefin tunas are also still roaming not far offshore the Cape's coastline. The freshwater fishing across the board is on fire right now. Fishing for big largemouths, smallmouths and trout is a great bet. We would also like to wish you an early Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you're able to enjoy the holiday with your family and fishing friends. Tight lines

Meet Keith Broecker, a former Air Force pilot who used his guitar and quick wit to convince a cadre of instructor pilots he was worth keeping around....leading to an aviation career that spans Learjets, Tankers, Spy planes, and your next United flight (eventually). During the podcast, Keith opens up about how the Air Force culture deals with death, how the "dreaded" assignment to Grand Forks North Dakota was actually pretty awesome and how 17 deployments and hundreds of combat hours led him to create songs that resonate with anyone who's been away from family for extended periods. A "product of the 80's", Keith plays "Two Weeks", a song about a parent's feeling when a child joins the military, "Slipping Bonds", a tribute to Air Force pilots who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and "Late November" from the first OE album. A humble talent with a commanding voice that can be heard in San Francisco cul de sacs during the Coronavirus, Keith is everyone's next best friend. Support the show (http://www.operationencore.org)
In late November Owen Kelly spent two days at Slush, the annual technology event in Helsinki, aimed primarily at startups and young entrepreneurs. He noticed that the atmosphere had changed noticeably this year, and that the culture which has developed around startups appears to have discovered social responsibility. In this episode he discusses a few of his experiences at Slush with Sophie Hope, whose scepticism about these kinds of things knows no bounds.

Frankfurt based DJ & producer Oliver Lieb is involved in the production of electronic music since 1988. With more than 300 singles and albums including remixes for Faithless, Moby, Snap, Yello, Human League, Mory Kante, Utah Saints to name a few, he made it in the premier leage of international producers and keeps surprising and amazing people with his extraordinary sounds and diversity. At the age of 14 he started playing bass in several Funk/Soul/Jazz bands. Oliver also got in touch with electronic music (Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk,Yello, Jean-Michel Jarre) and discovered a new and an endless horizon of expressing himself. In late 1989 Oliver’s first record FORCE LEGATO “System” got released by Dorian Gray resident DJ Torsten Fenslau on his Abfahrt label. The single gained great worldwide reactions and almost hit the official German charts. In the years to follow Oliver released everything in the electronic genres from downtempo and chill-out to hard experimental techno and trance. His project Spicelab on Sven Väth’s legendary Harthouse label established a platform for his highly appreciated sounds, which developed into one of the most important projects of the label including the release of three full length album releases. Oliver never wanted to focus on just one specific genre he simply created several pseudonyms for each of his different styles. His LSG and Paragliders releases on Superstition Rec. are still considered as one of the most influencing and timeless trance projects and were developed for more than 10 years and 5 Albums. His maxis and albums got licensed on Hooj Choons, Yoshitoshi, Platipus, Duty Free, Magic Muzic and many others. After leaving Superstition in 2004 it was time for doing something new especially since the whole music scene went through big changes and somehow redefined itself. After locking himself into his studio to create new sounds and going into all kind of different directions Oliver announced the start of his own label “Maschine” in summer 2005 which is distributed worldwide by “Neuton” and online exclusively through Beatport and released his first single “Solieb - Circus Maximus” in July. The reactions were great and two more maxis followed until the end of 2005. Maschine is about to turn into a main source for high quality forward electronic music and grabs more and more peoples attention. In 2007 Oliver started a new company doing mastering and cutting vinyl. After all this was a logic step since he is known for a very high sound standard on his own productions and so he added some high end analog mastering gear to his studio to guarantee sound quality enhancement also for his clients. After the endless process of planning, constructions and moving in to the new studio and finally focusing on the new company he took a bit of a break from producing and djing - also to focus on a new sound and directions. In 2010 Oliver started a new label Solieb Digital to re-release his old music after re-mastering and polishing the tracks. So far there are 15 releases including his ambient album on Recycle or Die as well as two albums from Spicelab, L.S.G. – The Black Album Remastered Compilation and the L.S.G. „Unreleased Album“ were released. Since late 2010/early 2011 Oliver has started working again on new productions. The first release Parallax was an exclusive track for John Digweeds Structures two CD followed in July by the Oliver Lieb - Epsilon Eridani EP - on Bedrock. After upgrading and changing his studio setup in Summer 2011 he also appeared as a remixer again starting with Ioan Gamboa, Davide Cali and Microtrauma´s "Aktin" on Microtonal. In February 2012 Oliver Lieb together with Jimmy van M. released a mix CD as „The Audible Suspects" on Bedrock that was highly appreciated both for the outstanding overall sound quality and the track selection. Late November the Oliver Lieb - „Collider EP“ was released on Diametral with remixes by Solee and Matthias Spriger. In December two more remixes came out - Rich Curtis Lower my voice on Release Rec. and Mauro Norti - Last Day that made it to the Beatport Techno sales charts on #6. 2013 was very busy – it started in January with „The Shortest Day / Yarra EP“ on Tulipa Rec. with original Oliver Lieb tracks plus remixes from Android Cartel, Dapayk Solo and Roland M. Dill and two releases on Blackhole´s sister label Fris! Oliver Lieb –„Altiplano“ in January and „Ear Candy“ in April. In March „Rack to the Boots EP“ was released on Solee´s label Parquet followed by remixes for Solee´s „Jonalu“ and Teho & Tran´s track „Almeria“ – both on Parquet. Two EPs on Natura Viva came out in July and November (Tarsius EP and Hold it Back EP) while a remix for Citizen Kain´s track King Size was released on Natura Viva in between. In September Oliver re-launched his label Maschine with the well received „In Transit EP“ and released an EP on Elektrax Recordings (The Prophet EP) in November – both on vinyl and digital. Further on there were remixes on Microcastle (Deepfunk & Kassey Voorn), System Recordings, Wide Angle Rec., Modu Rec. and a few more. In December there will be a remix on Flow Rec. for JML – Seek til you find. For 2014 there are already a lot of releases planned. Starting with „Dark Energy EP“ on Proton early January and remixes for Inlab Rec and Natura Viva. As well there will be an ambient album on Psychonavigation Rec around summer and a new L.S.G. album after Summer… Tracklist: 01. Willy Real & David Prap - Back To Planet E (Oliver Lieb Remix) 02.
