In today's episode, the Lord visits Abraham by sending three messengers to his home. He reveals that in a year's time he will give Abraham a son through his wife, Sarah. He also reveals that he is sending his messengers to Sodom and Gomorrah, because the wickedness of the people has grown so severe that it calls for complete annihilation. Before they are sent out, Abraham pleads with the Lord to spare the righteous and the Lord finally agrees that if even ten righteous people are found there, he will not destroy it. The angels rescue Lot, but as we will soon see, sin continues to flourish. What do you think the prevailing message of Jesus is? You would think that'd be a pretty easy question to answer. But I'm guessing that in a room full of people, there'd be many different kinds of answers to that question. But in Luke 9, as well as throughout the Gospels and in the Book of Acts, we're told many times very plainly what that message is. The central prevailing message of the Bible and of Jesus is the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God is here and the king is Jesus. And this king has come to reconcile the world to God. His rule and authority are being made known wherever he goes. He uses that in the feeding of the multitudes, the healing of the demon possessed, the opening up of the eyes of the blind, the healing of the lame, those who can't speak and hear. He is the king. And wherever he goes, the kingdom is showing up. Citizenship in this kingdom is being made available to ordinary people. His life is being offered and extended to the whole world, to us broken folks. And the good news of that kingdom is that God has made a way through Christ to reconcile us, to make us new, to make us citizens and bring us under his rule and reign, to make us his. By his death on the cross, he has reconciled us to himself. And now by the Spirit of God, he has empowered us to manifest his kingdom life, to live it out, the very life of his Son. As Jesus walks with us through our life, the kingdom shows up. The result of his kingdom life in us is freedom, joy, love, the fruit of the Spirit. And when we do that, we are set free. We're set free from our past, our regrets, our shame. And we live in the joy of forgiveness and our adoption and inclusion in the very life and love of God. The one sitting on the throne said, look, I'm making everything new, everything. And we see it wherever Jesus goes. There is power in the King. There's power in his abiding life with us. And this king has made you his own. You are a citizen and he is your king. Let us live as citizens of the kingdom of God. Let us embrace this message of the abiding and saving life, the reconciling life of Christ. Let us be ambassadors of this message of our great King. Let's tell people that they have been reconciled in Christ. See it, believe it, repent, change your mind and step into the life that is yours. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my own family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. Welcome to Day 2772 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom. Day 2772 – Wisdom Nuggets – Psalm 105:37-45 – Daily Wisdom Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2772 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day two thousand seven hundred seventy-two of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. The title for today's Wisdom-Trek is: The Great Exodus – Spoils of War and the Bread of Angels. Today, we reach the glorious conclusion of our historical journey through Psalm One Hundred Five, trekking through the final section, verses thirty-seven through forty-five, in the New Living Translation. In our previous trek, we descended into the darkness of Egypt. We walked through the dungeon with Joseph, feeling the iron collar around his neck. We witnessed the "War of the Gods," where Yahweh systematically dismantled the Egyptian pantheon through the ten plagues. We saw the Nile turn to blood, the sky turn black, and the firstborn fall, proving that the gods of Egypt were powerless before the God of Abraham. But the story doesn't end with the defeat of the enemy. It ends with the liberation of the family. Today, we watch the Israelites walk out of the house of slavery. But they do not leave as refugees; they leave as conquerors. We will see them laden with silver and gold, guided by a pillar of fire, and fed by bread from heaven. We will see them march into the Promised Land to reclaim the territory of the nations. And finally, we will answer the ultimate question: Why? Why did God do all of this? Why the plagues, the miracles, and the manna? The final verse of this psalm gives us the answer, and it defines the very purpose of our existence. So, let us join the procession of the redeemed as they march toward Zion. The first segment is: The Victorious Exit: Plunder and Supernatural Health Psalm One Hundred Five: verses thirty-seven through thirty-eight. The Lord brought his people out of Egypt, loaded with silver and gold; and not one among the tribes of Israel even stumbled.  Egypt was glad when they were gone, for they feared them greatly. The psalm picks up immediately after the Passover night. The judgment has fallen, and now the liberation begins. "The Lord brought his people out of Egypt, loaded with silver and gold..." This is the fulfillment of a specific prophecy given to Abraham way back in Genesis Fifteen, verse fourteen: "Afterward they will come out with great possessions." In the Ancient Israelite worldview, this event—often called the "plundering of the Egyptians"—was not merely reparations for four hundred years of slavery, though it certainly was that. It was the Spoils of War. Yahweh, the Divine Warrior, had defeated the gods of Egypt on their own turf. In ancient warfare, the victor strips the defeated. Israel, as the army of Yahweh, marched out carrying the wealth of the empire that tried to crush them. They didn't sneak away in the night empty-handed; they walked out wealthy. And look at the physical condition...

There are seasons of suffering that can make God feel distant—even when we know in our minds that He is real and faithful. This devotional acknowledges that painful experience: moments when anxiety, grief, fear, or spiritual dryness convince us that we’ve been left alone. David voiced these same feelings in Psalm 22 as he faced enemies, isolation, and distress. Yet even in his desperation, David still cried out to God as his strength and help, showing us that feeling abandoned isn’t the same as being abandoned. One of the key truths in today’s devotional is that when God feels far away, the distance is not on His side. God does not leave His people. He remains constant, faithful, and present—yesterday, today, and forever. Often, the shift happens in us: sin, distraction, discouragement, or the slow drift away from prayer and Scripture can make us feel spiritually numb. But even then, God remains ready to forgive, restore, and draw us back close when we turn to Him. So what do we do when we recognize we’ve drifted? We return. We pray. We open His Word again. We choose faith over feelings. Like any relationship, closeness grows through communication, time, and trust. And the devotional reminds us that God’s love is proven—not only by what we feel, but by what He has already done through Jesus Christ. When you can’t sense His presence, you can still anchor yourself in His promises. God is not far away. He is near, attentive, and ready to strengthen you in the middle of deep suffering. Read OnlineIt happened that there was a man full of leprosy in one of the towns where Jesus was; and when he saw Jesus, he fell prostrate, pleaded with him, and said, “Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.” Luke 5:12What a perfect prayer! This leper, likely shunned by the townspeople, including his own family, had been reduced to a life of isolation and rejection. Some might have pitied him, but out of fear of contracting his dread disease, they kept their distance. The emotional and social isolation he endured would have been even more painful than the physical suffering caused by leprosy. This miracle takes place shortly after the people in Jesus' hometown of Nazareth rejected Him. The Nazarenes' rejection stemmed from a sense of entitlement; they saw themselves as God's chosen people and thus believed they were entitled to His grace and blessings. When Jesus confronted their false beliefs, they became hostile and even attempted to kill Him. As a result, He left Nazareth and continued His ministry in Capernaum and other towns. Jesus did not perform miracles to impress others or to win their esteem. Instead, He performed miracles for those who already exhibited deep faith. The miracles were not only intended to reveal His identity but were primarily acts of love meant to invite the faithful to believe more deeply. This leper is a perfect example of such faith. First, the man approached Jesus and “fell prostrate” before Him. In doing so, he professed his faith in Jesus as the Messiah. This act of faith was enough to open the floodgates of God's blessings. The leper believed and worshiped first, and because of this, God's grace was poured out upon him. Too often, we seek blessings first, as if we are entitled to anything from God. We might say, “Please do me this favor, Lord, and then I will believe.” But that is not how it works. Jesus is God and must be treated as such. Whether we are blessed or not, whether we suffer or not, we must worship God because He is God. This leper understood that. The leper's prayer for healing is also a model of humility and trust. He did not directly ask Jesus to heal him. Instead, he professed his faith in Jesus' ability to heal, saying, “Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.” This expression of faith unlocked the tender compassion of our Lord, who responded, “I do will it. Be made clean.” When you pray, do you tell God what He should do for you? Do you present Him with a list of your ideas and expectations? If so, try setting those aside. Begin your prayer by worshiping God simply because He is God. When it comes to your needs, place them before Him with trust, but avoid telling God what to do. God knows what is best for you. Presenting your needs to Him should not be a plea for Him to fulfill your will; rather, it should be an act of trust, believing that He will do what is best according to His will. We must desire nothing other than that.Reflect today on the example of this leper. Though the disease of leprosy is a dreadful affliction, the leper's model of prayer is truly admirable. Consider whether you follow his example. Love, worship, and profess your faith in God, and then entrust yourself to His providential care, ready to embrace His will no matter what it may be. This form of holy detachment will unleash God's mercy and provide you with what you need most—God's will. My miraculous Lord, too often I come to You with my needs, telling You what I want You to do for me. Please grant me a humble and faith-filled heart like that of the leper. May my first prayer always be one of worship. May my worship lead to trust so that Your will, not mine, may be done in my life. Today we get to see the Lord's faithfulness to a sinful man who doubts, who wavers, who makes poor decisions, but who ultimately responds to the Lord's instruction. It would be hard to argue that the Lord chose Abram because of his upstanding moral qualities, however, as his flaws aren't covered up or diminished. Instead, in God's own kindness, He makes promises to Abram, promises that will last from one generation to the next, on and on through the ages. Something unthinkable is being asked of Abraham. He is being asked to offer his one and only son, the son that he loves, as a sacrifice on the mountain. It is a test of obedience that, at first glance, seems unimaginable. But perhaps, in Abraham's world, it was not altogether unthinkable. The cultures surrounding him, and indeed, cultures throughout history, have at times required the blood of a human to appease or manipulate their gods. Abraham would have known these stories and expectations. But he also knew something else—the God who called him, who promised him a son even in extreme old age, who reminded him of blessings as countless as the stars. This God who walked with Abraham in his darkest, most barren moments was not like any of the others. Abraham had learned to walk with and trust God, and he believed that this God was not bloodthirsty or capricious, nor distant or angry and waiting to pounce. Abraham believed God was good—the God who meets us in our need, our shame, our barren places, the God who provides. On that mountain, God makes Himself known as Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides. He is not a God who requires us to atone by our own blood, or by the blood of those we love. No, God has a different way. Instead, it is He who provides the offering. The Father does not kill His Son—instead, the Son offers Himself, and is killed by humanity. Through His offering, He overcomes evil, wins the victory for us, conquering sin and darkness, and making a way for us to live. Abraham reasoned that, even if Isaac died, God was able to revive him—because Abraham knew, at the core, that God is good and can be trusted with our very lives. That knowledge—the character of God—changes everything. God comes to us in our lowest, most hopeless places, and brings resurrection, new life. On Mount Moriah, and then on the cross, God Himself provides what we cannot. He gives us victory, healing, hope. My prayer today is that my eyes would open to see as Abraham saw: the character of our God who provides, who is trustworthy, who is good. That I would walk with Him and know the freedom, the life, and the joy of being loved and provided for by Him. And that is my prayer for my family—for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that is my prayer for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. God Will Pause to Save You by Autumn Dickson I got a little lost as I was reading in Abraham at 6:00 am after staying up too late reading a book. Abraham had received a vision that showed him the workmanship of the Lord's hands. He discerned a whole lot, and then the Lord started explaining some deeper things to him. I was pretty tired, and my mind drifted until I came across this verse. Abraham 3:20 The Lord thy God sent his angel to deliver thee from the hands of the priest of Elkenah. Everything was feeling a tad confusing to my tired mind until I read that verse. Interestingly enough, as I backed up and read previous verses and when I continued reading forward, verse 20 felt like an interruption. The Lord is speaking of intelligences, including His own. He is speaking of how He dwelt in the midst of them and so on and so forth. The chapter is showing His absolute majesty. But He pauses and recalls how He saved Abraham's mortal life from a priest who was trying to sacrifice him. It felt like one of the most relevant interruptions I had ever read. It felt perfectly inserted into a sermon of how Christ rules over all of His creations. Christ is powerful and wise and loving. He is the Creator and King. He has many important works that He is juggling, but He pauses long enough to save you. Saving you from a mere mortal trial is nothing and everything to Him. It is nothing in relation to His power, and it is everything in relation to His love. I want to share a story about how the Lord saved my family. Honestly, I'm not even sure the extent to which it has saved my family yet, but I feel strongly that one day I will understand just what the Lord did for us in moving us across the country. Despite all the other works that the Lord was juggling, I watched Him masterfully manipulate detail after detail after detail to put Conner on track for his life's work. I will share some details, but I don't even think I'm fully aware of all the details and timelines that the Lord set in motion to take care of us. I probably don't remember all of the details, but I will tell you of a few. Conner had told me for years that we would never leave Utah, but there had always been a nagging feeling in my heart that we would leave. I had prayed about it, and the Lord kept telling me not to worry about it. The time would come when it came, so I left it alone. Though it was likely one of the more traumatic eras of my husband's life, I felt the Lord's hand hovering over us the entire time. Moving to Virginia the first time around was wild. My husband's job had been taken away from him through a series of lies told by another person. Looking back, I am 99% certain my husband would have never left. It had to be taken away from him in order to propel him in the correct direction for his life. I praise the Lord for taking it away. That's detail number one. Conner was meant to end up out in Virginia, and so the Lord sent a friend to ask for his help. That was detail number two. The only reason I was able to get Conner out of our house and into the car was because it was a friend who had asked him to come. We lived in a hotel for three months with three kids before moving to an apartment of a friend who had moved out west. We stayed in that apartment for two months before we received a big enough miracle that even my husband couldn't ignore (he still wanted to go back to Utah). We were staying in that apartment and the contract was running out soon. We could renew it, but the price would go up to more than we could really afford (especially since the job we had moved out for wasn't working out as we hoped). I was at church one day when that lady I ministered to asked me if we had found a place to stay yet. I answered no. Now let me tell you this portion of the timeline backwards. Monday, the very next day, was when we really decided that this job was not working out with our friend. I know Conner, and I know that the moment we realized it wasn't working out, we were headed back to Utah. It was much cheaper to go back, and we had just spent inordinate amounts of money to go and stay in Virginia and it just wasn't doable anymore especially since we were leaving the job. I wouldn't have been surprised at all if we had packed up that day and drove back immediately. However, the night before this final decision about the job was made, we received a message from a lady who had been sitting next to my ministering assignment when my ministering assignment had asked me if we had somewhere to live. This lady was a stranger at the time, and I'm going to name her Jill so that we can follow the story more easily. It turns out that Jill and her family had just bought a house even though they were headed overseas for ten months. She had a friend who was supposed to live in her house while they were gone, but that fell through. So Jill looked me up since they needed someone to come and stay in their house. As it turns out, we were related distantly through marriage. After asking some questions to our mutual relatives, she messaged us the night before we would have made the decision to head back to Utah. She sent us messages about the house and immediately, Conner and I realized we wouldn't be able to afford it. We asked how much she would charge us, and it was miraculously lower than what we would spend living in Utah. That was the very first time that Conner was like, “Maybe we are supposed to be in Virginia.” We moved in almost immediately. Conner was led to a couple of other jobs that were so healthy for him and have enabled us to be exactly where we need. When we needed to come back to Utah temporarily, we found a flight pass that enabled Conner to go back and forth across the country for $25. Detail after detail after detail after detail has lined up perfectly for us to be exactly where we need. I have no idea how He set things in motion a long time ago to set these things up for us. But I do know this. In the midst of all His incredible works, He paused long enough to save my family. I know that it was both nothing and everything to Him; it was nothing in relation to His power, and it was everything in relation to His love. I was not saved from a priest who was trying to kill me like Abraham was. I don't know how many of us will face situations like that. However, the Lord can save us. Whatever you're going through, it's nothing in relation to His power, and it was everything in relation to His love. I promise you that whatever you're facing, you are safe. When placed in the context of eternity, you are safe and everything will turn out better than you can imagine. He has handled much larger things than this, and they were likewise easy for Him to handle. I testify of the power of our Lord. I testify of the love of our Lord. I testify that whatever you're going through is just a blip on the spectrum of eternity. Reading Moses and Abraham gives us a glimpse into the eternal and can help us recognize that what we're going through doesn't have to take us down completely. Today’s Topics: 1, 2, 3, 4) Gospel – Luke 4:14-22 – Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news of Him spread throughout the whole region.  He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all. He came to Nazareth, where He had grown up, and went according to His custom into the synagogue on the sabbath day.  He stood up to read and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah.  He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord. Rolling up the scroll, He handed it back to the attendant and sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at Him.  He said to them, “Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”  And all spoke highly of Him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from His Mouth. We discover that God cares about the heart. God wants us to love Him, value Him, and esteem Him above all things. I believe this is one of the things that distinguishes Christianity from every other world religion. You see every world religion is about what you do. It's about your work. Salvation is earned by your diligence to hard work and keeping rules. 3. In Christianity, it's not that Jesus doesn't care what we do, but he is more interested in those intentions that are hidden from human eyes. “As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.’ So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.” (Mark 4:35–37 NLT) In Mark 5, we find an interesting story in which Jesus invites the disciples, some of whom were seasoned fishermen, to join Him on a little boat trip across the Sea of Galilee. On the way across, they encounter a violent storm. Bad timing, some might say. On the contrary, it was perfect timing. The circumstances of the story beg the question: Did Jesus know that a storm was coming when He said, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake” (Mark 4:35 NLT)? The answer is undoubtedly yes. The apostle Paul wrote, “Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him” (Colossians 1:15–16 NLT). The One who is supreme over all creation doesn’t need a forecast to know when a storm is coming. In fact, it’s likely Jesus planned the outing because of the storm. You might even say it was part of His curriculum that day. Jesus was teaching His disciples to believe what they claimed to believe. We don’t want to make light of what the disciples were experiencing, because this was a very severe storm. Several on board had experienced storms on the Sea of Galilee before. The fact that they were gripped by fear says something about the storm’s ferocity. Mark 4:37 says that high waves were breaking into the boat. Sinking seemed to be a very real possibility. The disciples were afraid, but they didn’t have to be. Jesus had made a significant statement—one that apparently the disciples had missed: “Let’s cross to the other side” (NLT). When God says, “Let’s cross to the other side,” it means you’ll get to the other side. He didn’t say it would be smooth sailing. He didn’t say it would be an easy trip. But He did say, “Let’s cross to the other side.” God’s people become gripped by fear and cease to think logically when we forget His promises to us. That’s exactly what happened to the disciples. But Jesus was on board with them. He was there to see them through. And He’s there to see us through, too. The Lord still wants to take His followers to the other side. Outside their comfort zone. Away from those who would hold them back. Beyond their limited perception of who they are and what they’re capable of. The journey involves risk. It will be scary at times. But the Lord is greater than the obstacles and challenges in the way. Reflection question: How has the Lord helped you navigate a storm in your life?
