People will become lovers of self, money, and pleasure rather than lovers of God. They will appear religious but will deny the true power of godliness. Sadly, they will progress from bad to worse. Paul urges Timothy to avoid such individuals, especially those who deceive others while resisting the truth. He reminds Timothy that persecution is a reality for all who desire to live godly lives in Christ Jesus. However, Timothy is encouraged to remain steadfast in what he has learned, holding firmly to the Scriptures that have shaped his faith since childhood. Paul affirms that all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, correcting, and training in righteousness, equipping believers for every good work.  We live in a world that often values self above truth. Some hold to a form of godliness but are led by the adversary. We must remain alert to the attitudes and behaviors Paul warns against, guarding our hearts from pride, greed, and spiritual compromise. We are called to sincerely pursue godliness, even when it leads to hardship or opposition. The foundation for this life is the Word of God. Scripture is not just information; it is the voice of God shaping our minds and transforming our actions. We must hold tightly to what we have learned, remain rooted in truth, and let the Word train us to live with purpose, integrity, and a deep commitment to the way of Christ.  Holy Lord, in a world filled with confusion and pride, help us to stand firm in truth. Guard our hearts from the temptation to follow what is popular instead of what is right. Fill us with a deep love for Your Word, and give us wisdom to recognize what is false. Strengthen our faith when we face difficulty, and remind us that godliness is worth every cost. Help us learn to let Scripture shape our thoughts, guide our choices, and prepare us for every good work You have planned. May we reflect Christ in how we live, speak, and serve.   Thought Questions: How can people claim godliness but also be selfish and destructive? How do you avoid such a dangerous and tragic departure from Jesus? Is it true that “all who desire to live godly in Jesus Christ will be persecuted”? What persecution or sacrifice are you facing for your faith? How has the Scripture recently impacted your life? What are you learning? How are you being reproved and corrected? Is God training you?

Read Online“Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.” Luke 11:23These words are embedded within several powerful teachings of Jesus, but, in many ways, this single sentence can stand alone as an important Christian truth. Specifically, it tells us that we cannot be neutral in our position regarding Jesus and all that He has taught us. This is an important message in the world today.Today, there seems to be a growing secular value that we might call “neutrality.” We are told by many in the world that we must accept any morality, any lifestyle, any choice that others make. And though it is true that we must always love and accept every person and treat them with the utmost dignity and respect, it is not true that we should be neutral to the choices and secular values that some choose to live and express. Sadly, when we do speak the full truth, especially the many moral truths our Lord has revealed, we are often labeled as judgmental. But this is not the truth. This quote above from today's Gospel makes it clear that we cannot remain indifferent to the teachings of our Lord and still remain in His good graces. In fact, Jesus makes it clear that the opposite is true. He says that if we are not with Him, meaning, if we do not accept all that He has revealed, then we are, in fact, against Him. Being neutral on matters of faith and morality is not actually being neutral at all. It's a choice that some make that has the clear effect of separating them from Jesus. For example, regarding matters of faith, if someone were to say, “I do not believe in the Eucharist,” then they are, in fact, rejecting God. And though it is not our duty to be their judge, it is our duty to acknowledge that they have expressed a belief contrary to the truth. They are in error, and if they persist in this error, then they do separate themselves from God. That's what Jesus is saying. The same is true regarding morality. There are many examples in the moral life that are becoming more and more blatant in their opposition to our Lord's teaching. Thus, we must remind ourselves that when we reject a moral teaching given to us by our Lord, we reject Jesus Himself.Jesus goes even further when He says that “whoever does not gather with me scatters.” In other words, it's not enough to simply personally believe all that Jesus taught, we must also teach it to others. If we do not and if we, instead, offer a false form of “acceptance” of another's error, then we are actually working against Jesus. We all have a moral duty to actively promote the truths of the Gospel given to us by our Lord. Reflect, today, upon how fully you are “with” our Lord and “gather” with Him. Do you fully accept all that He has taught and also seek to gather many others for the Kingdom of God? If you do not see yourself actively believing in and participating in the mission of our Lord, then heed these words of Jesus and allow them to gently but firmly challenge you, so that you will more fully work to build up God's Kingdom in your own heart and in the world all around you. My glorious King, You desire to build up Your Kingdom in my life and, through me, in the lives of others. Give me the grace and courage I need to fully accept all that You have taught me and to actively become an instrument of Your grace and truth in the world. May I be with You in all things, dear Lord, and gather many into Your loving arms of grace. It's Monday, October 9th, and we're journeying together through the scriptures on day 283 of our year-long adventure. I'm Hunter, your host, Bible reading coach, and fellow traveler as we open our hearts to not just read the Bible, but to encounter the God who is love. In today's episode, we'll walk through Nehemiah chapters 1 and 2, Psalm 133, and Luke 22, using the New Living Translation. You'll hear Nehemiah's passionate plea for his people, witness the disciples' Last Supper with Jesus, and reflect on what it truly means to serve in God's kingdom—even when it runs counter to how the world defines greatness. Along the way, I'll share a heartfelt prayer, some thoughts from my own life, and gratitude for listeners like you who make this daily journey possible. Settle in, take a deep breath, and let's discover God's enduring love together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: He calls us to a different kind of greatness. The gospel reading today takes us to the upper room, where Jesus shares a meal with his disciples and prepares them for the suffering to come. As he breaks the bread and pours out the wine, he tells them plainly what will happen—his body will be given, his blood poured out for them. He shares that among them sits a betrayer, and the disciples, confused and alarmed, begin to question not just who will fail, but also who among them is the greatest. Jesus responds in a way that turns the world's values upside down. He tells them that in his kingdom, greatness is not found in status, power, or position. Instead, the greatest is the one who serves. “For I am among you as one who serves,” Jesus says. The path of significance in God's kingdom is radically different from the way of the world. The world says, “Prove yourself by your accomplishments, your influence, your authority.” But Jesus says, “Lay all of that down. Become a servant. That is true greatness.” And he doesn't ask us to do anything he is not willing to do himself. Jesus is the king who serves, who gives, who lays down his life for his friends—even for those who will betray and deny him. And though we may have the best of intentions, just like Peter, we're often powerless on our own to actually live out this way of love and humility. We want to be loyal, to be faithful, to stand strong. Yet we fall, we falter, we fail. But here is the comfort: Jesus prays for us, just as he prayed for Peter. He intercedes that our faith would not fail, and that once we have turned back—once we've come to the end of ourselves—we would strengthen others, not with our own strength, but with his. It is Christ's strength, his mercy, his abiding life that equips us to be servants in his kingdom. This is the invitation of the gospel: to lay aside our striving for power, for influence, for greatness as the world defines it, and instead to find our place as servants of the King. We are called to offer the same mercy and love we have received, to embody the kingdom, to bring the message of God's reconciling love to a world in need. That's a prayer I have for my own soul. That's a prayer I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's a prayer I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

Welcome to Day 2711 of Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom – Theology Thursday – “Not of This World” – Supernatural Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2711 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2711 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Today, we continue with the 14th of 16 segments of our Theology Thursday lessons. I will read through the book "Supernatural," written by Hebrew Bible scholar, professor, and mentor Dr. Michael S. Heiser, who has since passed away. Supernatural is a condensed version of his comprehensive book, ‘The Unseen Realm.' If these readings pique your interest, I would recommend that you read ‘The Unseen Realm.' Today, we will read through chapter fourteen: “Not of This World” In Jesus' well-known prayer in the garden of Gethsemane before he was arrested for trial, he said of his followers, “They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world” (John 17:16). Believers were certainly in the world, specially tasked by God to carry the gospel to every nation (Matt. 28:19–20), but they were not of the world. This paradox—being in the world but not of it—was telegraphed to early Christians in several memorable ways… Sacred Space, Holy Ground, and God's Presence… In chapter 8 we talked about the concept of sacred space. For Old Testament Israelites, God was completely other. The space his presence occupied was set apart from all other space. That wasn't a denial that God was omnipresent—in all places at all times. Rather, it was a way of marking the territory on which he chose to meet with his people. That was one of the purposes for having the tabernacle and the temple. The concept of sacred space was not only the rationale for many of Israel's laws and rituals, but it also reinforced the idea of cosmic geography—how the world was divided among the lesser gods and the Most High God, the God of Israel… The notion of sacred space gets brought into the New Testament in a dramatic way. All we need to ask is, “Where is the presence of God right now?” While God is everywhere, he specifically dwells within each believer. Believe it or not, you are sacred space. Paul very clearly wrote that “your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit” (1 Cor. 6:19)… The same is true of the ground where believers gather as a group. Writing to the church at Corinth, Paul told them collectively, “You are God's temple” (1 Cor. 3:16). He told the Ephesian believers they were “members of the household of God … a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit” (Eph. 2:19, 21–22)… The implications are startling. Most of us are familiar with Jesus' statement, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there in the midst of them” (Matt. 18:20 leb). But viewed in the context of the Old Testament idea of sacred space, that statement means that wherever believers gather, the spiritual ground they occupy is sanctified amid the powers of darkness… Yahweh's final chosen dwelling place in the Old Testament was Israel—the temple in Jerusalem. Israel became holy ground because that's where God's presence resided. But that holy ground was threatened by the nations that surrounded it and their hostile gods. In the same way, believers today are in a spiritual war. We are now...

In this Bible Story, we explore the story of the Prodigal Son. Jesus uses his story to demonstrate the steadfast forgiveness of God. No matter how far gone someone may seem, the Lord is actively waiting to restore and forgive. This story is inspired by Luke 15:1-32 & Matthew 18:12-14. Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a Year.Today's Bible verse is Luke 15:32 from the King James Version.Episode 202: As Jesus was reclining enjoying a meal with His friends, the Pharisees mocked Him for eating with known sinners. When Jesus heard this, He got up and told them a story about a man and his two sons. In this story, the younger son went to his father and demanded his inheritance. The young man used up all his wealth on wild living. After coming to the end of himself, he realized he had sinned against his father. He also realized that his father's hired servants were better off than he was. So he went back home with the intention for asking his dad's forgiveness and asking to be taken on as a servant. But when he got close enough to home to be seen, his father ran to him, embraced him, and made a celebration for his safe return. In telling us this, Jesus gives us a glimpse of God's great love for His prodigal children.Hear the Bible come to life as Pastor Jack Graham leads you through the official BibleinaYear.com podcast. If you are interested in the Daily Bible Devotional, you can find it at the links below:Amazon - (paperback, hardcover, and Kindle)YouTube Video Introducing the ContentFeel free to reach out with any questions: emersonk78@me.comII Timothy 2Paul urges Timothy to be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus and to pass on the truth to faithful individuals who will continue teaching others. He uses illustrations of a soldier, an athlete, and a farmer to highlight discipline, endurance, and hard work in ministry. Just as he does, Paul reminds Timothy to endure hardship for the gospel's sake. He emphasizes the importance of avoiding quarrels and ungodly talk, which only lead to more harm. Instead, he should study and learn the word of God. Timothy is instructed to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, and to correct opponents with gentleness, in hopes that God may lead them to repentance. The chapter focuses on endurance, faithful teaching, and a life that reflects the saving mission of Jesus Christ.  The Christian life is filled with the grace of God; therefore, it must be marked by endurance, discipline, and devotion. We are called to share the truth with care, investing in others who will remain faithful to the message of Christ and share the word themselves. Like soldiers, athletes, and farmers, we must be willing to work diligently and stay focused on what truly matters. We must avoid arguments that distract from Christ and His eternal glory, and instead pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace. God calls us to correct others, not with pride, but with gentleness, trusting Him to bring about change. Let us honor God by being examples and sharers of the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ.  Heavenly Father, You have called us to a life that is steady, pure, and useful in Your hands. We call upon You to shape our hearts so we do not chase distractions or arguments but remain focused on truth. Build in us the quiet strength of a soldier, the discipline of an athlete, and the patience of a farmer. Let us not grow weary in teaching or in waiting. Help us to carry Your name with humility and to treat others with gentleness. Cleanse us from what is dishonorable and make us ready for every good work You have prepared. Thought Questions: What does it mean to “be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus”? How does it relate to the imagery of a soldier, athlete, and farmer? Why do Christians often argue in ways that only divide us? Why should we be more focused on living like Jesus and refusing to deny His glory? Why is it vital to live a righteous life and be patient with people, even those who wrong you? Is it your mission to help God reach those people?

In 1997, Iowa State University named its football stadium after the school’s first black athlete: Jack Trice. Tragically, Trice never even played in Ames, Iowa—he died from internal injuries sustained during a play in his second college game, played in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 6, 1923. Trice wrote a note to himself the night before, bearing witness to his determination: “The honor of my race, family, and self are at stake. Everyone is expecting me to do big things. I will! My whole body and soul are to be thrown recklessly about on the field tomorrow. Every time the ball is snapped, I will be trying to do more than my part.” Trice profoundly understood that what he did flowed from the honor and dignity of who he was, infusing his character with courage. The apostle Paul says something similar in Ephesians, challenging believers to let who they were in Christ influence every decision: “As a prisoner of the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received” (Ephesians 4:1). Paul challenges us to embrace a way of living shaped by Jesus’ work for us, in us, and through us, which yields humility, gentleness, patience, unity, love and peace (vv. 2-3) as we use our God-given gifts to serve one another (vv. 15-16).

Read OnlineJesus said to his disciples: “Suppose one of you has a friend to whom he goes at midnight and says, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, for a friend of mine has arrived at my house from a journey and I have nothing to offer him…'” Luke 11:5–6Unless your friend were truly a very close friend, you may hesitate in waking them and their family at midnight to ask to borrow some food. And even if it were a very close friend, you would probably hesitate for fear of disturbing them. But in this parable, the “friend” is God. Jesus just finished giving His disciples the “Our Father” prayer, and now He adds this parable as a way of expressing the great confidence and determination with which we must pray to the Father. The parable concludes by stating that even if the person in bed does not get up to meet the request, they will do so “because of his persistence.” And though God always is attentive to our prayer, our persistence is an essential quality we must have. When we pray to God with persistence, never doubting the goodness and generosity of God, God will pour forth upon us everything that is good. Of course, if our prayer is for something that is selfish or not in accord with the will of God, then all the begging in the world will not be effective. But when we pray as the “Our Father” prayer teaches us, then we can be certain that our fidelity to that prayer, prayed with the utmost trust and persistence, will effect the good gifts of the will of God in our lives. One of the seven petitions of the “Our Father” prayer is “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.” This is a truly beautiful petition that requires not only ongoing persistence but also detachment from our preference in life. To pray that “God's” will be done and that “His” Kingdom come is a way of also saying that you surrender all of your preferences to God. You come to God acknowledging that your will may not be God's will. Thus, this petition expresses detachment in a powerful way. Reflect, today, upon the importance of praying with the utmost fervor and persistence to God. Reflect, also, upon the importance of doing so with detachment. What does God want of you? What is His holy will for your life? Seek that will and that will alone with all your heart and you will discover that His will truly will come to be in your life. My perfect Lord, Your will and Your will alone is what I want and seek. I seek it with all the powers of my soul. Help me to grow in confidence in You and Your goodness. May I trust in You and believe with all my heart that You truly will bring forth Your holy will in my life if I only persist in prayer and trust. Jesus, I trust in You.  Image: Qui es in Caelis by Lawrence OP, license CC BY-NC-ND 2.0.Source of content: catholic-daily-reflections.comCopyright © 2025 My Catholic Life! Inc. All rights reserved. In her brokenness, she surrendered fully to Jesus, and that is when everything changed. 2 Timothy 2:1-13 - You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also. Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops. Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything. Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the Word of God is not bound! Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with Him, we will also live with Him; if we endure, we will also reign with Him; if we deny Him, He also will deny us; if we are faithless, He remains faithful—for He cannot deny Himself.

Welcome to Day 2710 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2710 – Wisdom Nuggets – Psalm 85:8-13 – Daily Wisdom Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2710 Wisdom-Trek: The Divine Harmony of Grace and Truth - Concluding Our Trek Through Psalm 85:8-13 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2710 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Today, we reach the powerful conclusion of our conversation in Psalm 85, covering verses 8 through 13 in the New Living Translation. In our last trek, we explored the first half of this poignant communal lament. We heard the people's prayer for revival, anchored in God's past faithfulness: "You have restored the fortunes of Israel," and "You have forgiven the guilt of your people" (Psalm 85:1-3). Yet, their plea was urgent, asking God to "restore us again" and to "show us your unfailing love" (Psalm 85:4, 7). They were caught in the "in-between," that painful gap between the miracle of the return from exile and the full, glorious reality of true national revival. Now, the psalmist shifts from pleading to listening, confident that God will speak peace and provide the perfect vision for their complete restoration. This final section beautifully describes how God's saving presence will transform the land and the people, bringing a divine harmony where love and truth, justice and peace, meet and embrace. This vision of God's saving power is the glorious answer to their cry for restoration. So, let's open our hearts to this prophetic promise, recognizing the divine symmetry that only God can orchestrate. This first section it titled, The Promise of Peace and the Meeting of Virtues (Psalm 85:8-11) I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people. But let them not return to foolish ways. Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, so our land will be filled with his glory. Unfailing love and truth have met together. Righteousness and peace have kissed! The psalmist makes a conscious, deliberate choice here to stop pleading and start listening: "I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people." This is a pivotal moment in any lament! After pouring out our anxiety and our fears, the next step is to quiet our souls and incline our ear towards the divine. The psalmist expresses confidence that God will speak "peace" (shalom), which, in the Hebrew worldview, is not just the absence of conflict, but total well-being, harmony, and wholeness. This promise of shalom is conditional: "But let them not return to foolish ways." God's people must actively participate in their own revival. In this week's episode, Laura and Nico are joined by their good friend Derek Matthews for an honest conversation about hurt congregations, finding comfort and peace while navigating tense cultural moments, and learning to listen to the one voice that truly matters, the Lord's, amid all the other loud voices of the world. Though our nation and churches are facing division, we can find hope in Ephesians 2:11–13, which reminds us that Jesus has already torn down the dividing wall between us. No matter what you face, remember your situation is not your savior. Jesus is. To join our monthly partnership team & help make episodes like this possible, go to CallHerHoly.com/donate. Leviticus 23:33-44 Feast of Tabernacles Y'all!  Today I'm covering some of the details about why Christians need to be celebrating God's Feast of Tabernacles...It's not just for the Jews afterall!  Come and see! If you are blessed by today's Bible study, please support my channel by liking, subscribing, commenting, and sharing with your friends and family!  I am not a Pastor, and agree with God's word that women are not supposed to be Pastors.  However, all people are called to share the gospel. It is perfectly acceptable and Biblical for women to lead Bibles studies outside the church as an ancillary addition to the church, and especially if it is a viable avenue for study of the Word on a daily basis, like I'm doing on this show, and paving the way for all of us to be closer to the Lord and become more knowledgeable of the Bible.  If you care to contribute to my work with the Daily Bible study and sharing the Gospel, as part of your tithes and offerings, you can do so through PayPal by sending it to my PayPal address of: ReneHoladay@gmail.com You are also welcome to email me at the same email address above if you have any thoughts you'd like to share about this episode!    Thank you for watching and God Bless you all! ;()
