Privacycoins hebben het zwaar. Deze munten onderscheiden zich door de anonimiteit in het gebruik. Transacties en wallets van gebruikers zijn niet in te zien, waar dat bij Bitcoin wel het geval is. Dat deze munten onder druk staan werd afgelopen week eens te meer duidelijk, want Binance besloot te stoppen met het aanbieden van Monero (XMR) op zijn platform. De reden laat zich raden, al geeft Binance dat niet direct toe. Door regelgeving en steeds actievere toezichthouders wordt het steeds lastiger om privacycoins te blijven aanbieden. Onder MICAR, het nieuwe pakket regels vanuit de Europese Unie, wordt het zelfs helemaal verboden. Coins als Zcash en Horizen overwegen zelfs het protocol aan te passen om zo toch op grote exchanges als Binance genoteerd te blijven. Dat gaat dan natuurlijk wel ten koste van de privacy. Al deze regulering heeft zijn weerslag op de koers van privacycoins, want ook die staat onder druk. Monero verloor ruim 40% na de beslissing van Binance. Munten als DASH en Zcash verloren al eerder veel van hun waarde. Het roept de vraag op of er nog toekomst zit in deze privacycoins.   Ondertussen gaat het Amerikaanse ministerie van energie het stroomverbruik van miners in kaart brengen. De Verenigde Staten is, na het verboden van cryptomining in China, de belangrijkste speler in deze markt. Zo'n 38% van alle rekenkracht zit in het land. Al die miners zouden zo'n 2,3% van het totale stroom-aanbod in de VS gebruiken. Dat is, volgens het ministerie, vergelijkbaar met het toevoegen van een nieuwe staat aan het stroomnet. Daarmee concludeert de democratische regering niet direct dat het hoge stroomgebruik nu direct problematisch is. Het ministerie ziet ook dat bitcoinminers vaak op zoek gaan naar de goedkoopste energie, en dat is vaak stroom die overtollig is. Here is an article that was noted in my Facebook group. There will be some form of a financial reset thanks to this pandemic as defined by the International Money Fund. It will involve some central based rules on Digital Currency issued by central banks. This is why they are threatened by the original concepts of crypto coins like Bitcoin. So now they want to control and the access of point of it. As you know. And no, this has nothing to do with crime syndicates like they want you to believe.   You should be more concerned about your financial liberty as opposed to your local central bank having the ability to track your transactions. Why do you think they are threatened by private coins?   This does not take into consideration in how governments are getting desperate to subsidize their huge national debts which few talk about. They will need to implement higher tax rates as well to track your private transactions. I am quite surprised ignorant major media pundits are trying normalize this situation and vilify wealthy for wanting to preserve their capital.   Either way, you choose which way you go but there will be some form of financial reset to bring back control your government/central banks will have over you. Why do you think Monero has outperformed Bitcoin double or even triple depending on what time frame you look at? OKEX stated “it is recommended that exchanges be able to collect relevant information such as the name and address of the sender and recipient of the virtual asset.” OKEX cited the “travel rule” recommendation from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) as the reason for pulling the five coins. Coinbase UK also dropped support for zcash last month, likely due to the need to identify users when required by authorities. This comes in response to the Financial Action Task Force guidelines, requiring that virtual asset service providers such as exchanges, pass along information about their customers to one another when transferring funds between firms. European Central Banks To Grill Libra The Libra Association will face questions from 26 central banks over its perceived risks to financial stability. According to the Financial Times, Libra will be expected to answer questions on its planned scope and structure at the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructure Forum. European Central Bank executive board member Benoit Coeure, whom will chair the meeting, stated “We’ve got to look very carefully at these projects, the bar for regulatory approval has been set very high.” The central banks’ findings will likely be included in an October report for the G7 nations. GitHub Crypto-Native Alternative Former head of Token Foundry at Consensys, Harrison Hines, is launching a crypto-native alternative to GitHub. The startup, called Terminal, closed a $3.7 million seed round in late 2018 to build a developer hub for decentralized applications. The hub quietly went live over the summer and is undergoing a soft launch this week. Notably, Hines filed a legal complaint this June against ConsenSys founder Joseph Lubin, alleging Consensys owed him $13 million in unpaid profits and benefits. Hines says the issue has since been resolved outside of court, further stating “We are planning to, hopefully, get every ConsenSys project onto Terminal, I do think there are opportunities for us to work with several of them in the future.” Binance Invests In Chinese Crypto Media Binance has made an investment in Chinese crypto media and data source Mars Finance. Binance CEO CZ stated “We have large respect for data, news and research firms which support the positive growth of the blockchain industry. We will continue to pursue strategic investment opportunities in our mission to bring crypto further mainstream, increase adoption and accessibility, and help the industry grow sustainably.” A report from Bloomberg estimates the company to be valued at $200 million.
